Hi does anyone have both the HTC U11 and the LG v20 and could comment on the quality of the mics used in the phone?
I saw reviews over YouTube which portray what seems to be a good phone for recording audio I just want to know if the quality can compare to that of the LG V20

I'm looking for a new smartphone that has great audio recording. My HTC One does great audio recording when it comes to shows/concerts but sadly the phone died on me. Any phone that you guys could recommend? I'm mainly going to use it recording rock bands and such.

from my experience use low end samsung and sony phone, both give much low quality compare dedicated audio/ voice recording.
the audio/ voice recording i use to compare is also not the high end, just around $75-100.
I think in Nokia lumia phones cuz they have dedicated advanced mic's

I just hate how Lumias perform process wise.
Any new Lumia model would be the best choice.

From this video looks like the pixel camera might be better than the v20. But not by much. The pixel's audio sounds kinda muted on the videos thou. Audio sounds great in v20 videos.

Hey Guys,
I am not -yet- an owner, but I was when M7 hit the stores and that phone was able to record some amazing audio - Distortion Free even from Loud Bass.
My question is, is the U11 anywhere near to that quality? I am really looking for someone who can record some concerts or any loud music....
thanks in advance

This is probably the best place to ask for now or the equivalent in your area.

I've been looking for an android phone capable of this since the m7. No luck yet. Although I haven't tried the v10 or v20. Lg has too many issues for me tho

They are not allowed to give out such technical information. I tried this with the M10 already and they said, its a really good mic, but could not confirm nor deny that its a HDR Mic
Sooooo I am waiting for users

Yeah, I know the feeling. This is why I kept my 950XL Microsoft (besides the Windows OP, its good) which has 4 mics and HAAC/HDR without distortion... yeah... we will see how HTC 11 performs
Sadly it distorts a lot! Had the m7, m8 and m9 plus. They were all great at audio recording. But the u11 is a huge disappointment in this department.
I play in clubs a lot and liked using my previous htc phones to film my band. People would always ask what kind of phone I was using because the audio was so good. Now, most videos are useless or GOOD when the bass is not too loud.
Tried HIGH RES audio and that doesn't improve the overall quality and oddly using this setting will get the video to be saved in MKV, instead of mp4. If you try sharing the mkv video through whatsapp, it will replace the audio with hiss. Tried solving this with no success. So now I use 3D audio and keep my fingers crossed everytime.
It's a huge disappointment because this was a main concern for me when looking for a replacement for the m9+.
The only phone I can't think of that has a great video/audio capture quality combo is the Iphone 8 Plus, which was the one I was going to buy before deciding for the u11.

Hey thank you for the review are there any other modern phones which are capable of recording bass? How are the Sony phones xz premium XZ1 and so on when recording bass?
Hi how is the quality of the phone internal microphones in recording audio especially in comparison to the LG v20 or the LG G6?
Thank you!
Considering audiophiles wouldn't use a digital device to playback audio, they are as good as any other. What sets the U11 apart from its competitors is boomsound.

LG pinned a number of good features on this smartphone, call it a dual camera support and equipped Quad-DAC capable of delivering high-quality audio quality. Another feature that is also pinned on this smartphone is a dual screen, the same as its predecessor LG V10.
Not only that, the LG V20 is also the first smartphone in the world that comes with the latest Android, Android 7.0 Nougat. For business specification, this smartphone is supported by Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4GB RAM.
So what is the performance of some of the features of this flagship smartphone? For those of you who are curious, here is a brief review of the mainstay features in the LG V20. Keep in mind, in this review I did not do a detailed discussion of smartphone performance. for full specs, I took the source on this site newssmartphone.com about this smartphone.
I can not apply external links on this site because I still a new member.
During use, I feel this smartphone is very comfortable to wear. Similarly, transitions between screens - including when used to play games - have no meaningful problems.
LG V20 also offers a number of video capture modes that can be arranged like a professional video camera. Quad-DAC audio features are said to promise high-quality sound output. By utilizing digital converter technology to be analog, the voice output of LG V20 is claimed to be better.
I do not put my photography here, which obviously this camera is perfect when we are on vacation
After trying it, we feel that the claim is true. The sound quality produced by LG V20 internal speakers is more crisp, detailed, and round. The difference when the Quad-DAC feature is turned on and off is very pronounced.
When testing, I use the built-in earpiece from B & O Play. The result was spelled out spoil the ear. when used with headphones and other speakers, the resulting sound is also quite good.
You should try this cool smartphone
