Anyway to play gameloft games with "lefty" southpaw/ legacy southpaw settings? - Shield Q&A

Anyway to play gameloft games with "lefty" southpaw/ legacy southpaw settings?
Hi everyone, I'm restless in my pursuit of trying to get this done. I've been playing fps since the first Turok for N64 so therefore my right thumb is mentally programmed to walk with RIGHT CONTROLLER STICKS, yes I know it's weird as frruck but that's just how it is and I can't reprogram my brain to use the left stick in any game to walk. I believe all COD games had the southpaw or legacy southpaw option so I never had a problem with those and as you all know gameloft sucks when it comes to controls. It there any holy miraculous way to get this done on a shield with Nougat and latest 5.2 update. I'm rooted so no problem there. Or at least a way to trick the game into thinking no controller is connected when Shield Controller is on. I can't even use my DS4 with sixaxis cause the thing would only sporadically connect and never reconnect which is why I bought the newer edition shield controller. Also I have no idea how to use tincore and instructions are very vague or old and outdated. I appreciate your time to read this even if there's no solution oh well. Thanks.

Gaming

So yesterday I downloaded Nesoid and a handful of ROMs for my Captivate. I had some fun playing them, but using the on screen virtual keyboard was really hard and it covered most of the gaming action. So I see that the new psx4droid supports wiimote. So I emailed the developer of Nesoid and suggested that he add that capability to his too and that other than that its a great emulator. He emailed back and this is his response
You can use other apps on the Market. But please enable input method in Nesoid settings.

What does this actually mean? Is there another app that I have to download and install first to get the wiimote to connect to my phone via bluetooth?
I dont have a wiimote yet, and before I go buy one, I'd like to know exactly how it works, if it will.
Search for "Wiimote controller" on the market, should work.
You can use a few bluetooth gamepads with android. One being
MSI Bluetooth Gamepad (BGP-100) which is a weird kinda swivel thing. I am going to gut a SNES controller and put the BGP-100 into it. It has been done before and everything seems to fit fine.
There is also another bluetooth controller made for blackberry's that works with android. It is vertical gamepad with a trigger control. Seems pretty nice.
I think you have to buy a market app to get the drivers to make the above 2 gamepads work.
Also as mentioned you can use a wiiremote as a gamepad for android. I have been looking for a wii classic controller + wii combo, so it does not have to be tethered to a normal wii controller to work. I want small and portable bluetooth with a dfecent amount of buttons that is why I am going with the SNES form factor.

Free, although it does say there isn't galaxy s support....so it might not work.
wiimotes currently do not work on the SGS phones because of the bt3.0. not sure on the other BT controllers
Are there any controllers that can be plugged in? Just wondering for flights...
Well I emailed the developer of Wiimote Controller and asked if they could update to support Galaxy S phones. This is there response:
Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
I don't think this will be possible with the current way Samsung's software is handling bluetooth.
Best regards,
Piki

Doesnt sound good for us getting to use a wiimote as a gamepad
Trying to play Nesoid with onscreen vitrual controller sucks, its too hard and I'm afraid of breaking my phone. Every time I get into the game and start tapping A or B rapidly I can feel it flex and creak in my hands.
Just wondering in anybody has made progress on getting a bluetooth controller for the captivate/galaxy s?
Ive been looking into it...and came to a bunch of dead ends aswell :sigh:

Please let me know if anyone finds a controller that works.
Thank you,

Speaking of games...
I wasn't able to find any in the market but I'm rooted so I know I can find games from other sources.
Are there any games like Alone in the Dark (horror genre) or fantasy role playing that would have the same type of graphics you'd see in WoW that I can put on my Captivate?

Game controller driver input not working

So, I originally used my PS3 controller to play games on my tablet. I loved it but for some games you had to go in and map certain controls for different games.
Well I read that there are supposed to be drivers in the TF101 to support game controllers so everything is mapped correctly. I used that before and used that with my Onlive controller. I got the controller so I could play onlive. I did some method of inputing commands into terminal to get it to work for most of my apps.
This was when I was on honeycomb and revolver. I am on stock ICS right now. Not the newest update yet. I could never get dead space or pocket legends to work with the controller. I find it strange though that for the xperia play games like dead space and others work. Technically, if the tablet recognized the controller I don't see why it does not work.
The only real flaw with the onlive controller is for EMUS the bumper triggers cannot be mapped. Like L2 and R2. Won't even work for shadowgun. So basically, I am wondering if there is another way to get more games to work with controllers besides doing the emulator terminal thing. I am not sure if updating restores that as well.
Thank you.

[Q] Gameloft Games Not Compatible?

Don’t know much about how compatibility is determined on the play store weather it’s up to the developer to say a device isn’t compatible. But I noticed on launch day nothing was really blocked due to compatibility but yesterday most of Gameloft’s library disappeared for me was curious if anyone was able to try Dungeon Hunter 4 & Order and Chaos on the shield.
Anyone have insight on why certain apps are being blocked?
It's a new device and normally will have to wait for game updates before certain company's list the Shield as compatible (its the game developers that enable compatibility lists on their Google dev accounts).
I do know Modern Combat 4 will work with controls on Sheild as its recently been updated with HID support but whether it's available to download is another story.
For now your probably better off sideloading games from another droid you own (if you do).

App developers can change their games compatibility. Gameloft, in general, doesn't support controller on many games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they started marking them as incompatible.
Do you happen to have a rooted phone or tablet? If you do you can download the games to that device and back them up with titanium backup. Then you can export the backup and import it to your shield if you have rooted your shield. You might be able to just pull the apk out of the titanium backup and sideload it on the shield if you have not or don't want to root the shield.
I did this exact thing with the game Avadon to get it on my Kindle Fire when I had that. It isn't pirating since you own the game and a lot of the time games will work on unsupported devices this way. Once you have them installed they typically show up in the market but will still say unsupported and not allow you to update them.
I would imagine without controller support those games would need an app like Gamekeyboard and root to emulate touch controls with the physical buttons. I am currently using that app to play Final Fantasy Dimensions with the Shield. The only thing I cannot do with the physical controls is browse the inventory out of combat. In combat and walking around I can use the physical controls fully. It's pretty awesome.
Evo_shift, how did you root the Shield? Thanks!
Edit: nvm, saw the thread.
Yeah, I was wondering why I couldn't find Modern Combat 4!

Don't need root to sideload from one phone to another (or tablet or shield).
ES File Explorer supports backing up apps to .apk without root permissions. From there you just copy the APK onto the shield, launch it in a file browser and android will install. No root required.
As for final fantasy. I guess no out of combat inventory is annoying, but at least you do have native touch.
My brother had a kindle fire, we used the ES file explorer method and since then have rooted the device, added the play store and a custom launcher. Shame that you have to do those mods but once you have its definitely a bargain. Missing bluetooth and camera etc, but its cheap and runs most things pretty well we've found.

Wow, cool. I had no idea something like that wouldn't require root.
The lack of bluetooth is why I ended up selling the Fire when the Nexus 7 was released. It did everything I wanted it to do just fine and I got it during one of Amazon's big refurbished sales and was my first tablet so I didn't want to spend a lot because I wasn't sure I would use it. Finding out I wasn't able to use a bluetooth gamepad was a real bummer to me. Now, my kids have basically taken over the Nexus (and they are only 4 and 2 years old but there are nice educational apps). The shield is my new toy that they will not have access to and basically replaces my Nexus 7 since I only used it for gaming
I contacted Gameloft and all they said there's nothing in the works, but when there is they will announce it. Lame

Not all games allow apk back up without root. There will be a little lock icon for the ones that are protected. I think all Gameloft games allow sideload, since the game checks your Google account during the first time opened to validate. Most games released in the past year (at least) still check the device if compatible, so even sideloading does not mean the game will actually work when you open it.
For modern combat, turn off mouse control via quick settings and the game works great.
im still waiting for my shield, does wild blood or nfs most wanted work?
I can map the keys through game keyboard if they can run on the shield

NFS Most Wanted works (touch only).
Throwing this out there. If you like racing games, be sure to check out Asphalt 8. It works and is compatible with the Shield controller.
I install the dungeon hunter 4 and use the tincore keymapper to map the screen button and work like champ.

Are you able to set the graphics on very high on DH4?
Asphalt 8 is the first one im going to play when my shield gets here tomorrow.
i heard tegra 3 games should work/ these work on htc one x
so if anyone has:
Dungeon Hunter 2
9mm HD
would like to know the results.
Gangstar vegas works with touchscreen + high graphics mod from xda plays awsome
Im going to try mapping keys to it.

[Q] A question about multiplayer using two controllers

Hey guys, I have a quick question. The tablet is supposed to connect to up to four controllers. I bought two to play 2-players games from the GRID. I tried Street Fighter Tekken but the tablet sees both controllers as one. They both control player 1 only and there is no player 2 at all.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for that or perhaps something that I can do?
Also, are there any good games whether Android or GRID that I can play with two controllers?
Any answer would be much appreciated, thanks...

I'm sorry. I gave the tablet to someone and I don't have it under my hands any more. Wish I could help...
Have you tried BombSquad (Android)?
From what I've read in the nvidia forums, the multi-controller support only works with Android native games (i.e. no Gamestream or Grid support).
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
Trine 2 that comes with the tablet support multiple controls. Beach buggy racing works great for local multiplayer. Supports up to 4 players. You need an in-game purchase to enable that though but it is totally worth it.
There should be a few more native Android games that support local multiplayer such as Gun Slugs by Orange Pixel (have not tried it yet)...
Most emulators support multiple controls as well. Such as Mupen64 Plus AE (the only one I have tried so far).
Guerilla Bob THD should also work according to game description on Google Play.

Multiple controllers registering as single controller

Hello, everyone! I purchased a 16GB, Wi-Fi Shield Tablet right before the LTE version game out. My main purpose is GameStream to my TV via USB OTG (Y-Cable, Ethernet + power).
I also bought two Shield Controllers so myself and my girlfriend could both play games at the same time. Some games I have show up in the native GameStream menu, some I open via Steam, but regardless, they support multiplayer.
Examples: Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Spulenky, etc.
However, whenever I try to play a game that supports multiplayer and register one controller to Player 1, when I try to register the second controller, it also controls Player 1 and won't show up as a completely independent, second controller.
What can I do to alleviate this? As silly as it sounds, I bought this whole setup to teach the girlfriend the way of gaming (at her request, too!), so not being able to play anything multiplayer on GameStream is a bit of a letdown.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you fix it?
Thanks so much!
I experienced this a long time ago and I asked this on Google+ and no-one knew what to do. They said I should call nvidia, but I never did...
Sheds a little bit of light on the matter. I do hope they figure it out, though.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has this been adressed? I just bought a 2nd controller last night, and nothing works 2 players. Even JuJu, a Shield title doesn't register that a 2nd controller is there.
EDIT: i actually just figured it out!! it was the USB dongle for my google tv keyboard. removed it, and both controllers work now in game. found this in another thread

Was having all the same problems until i found this absolute GEM of a program. It fixed everything for me. Just make sure you have your controllers ON, and then start up the moonlight app. Literally every single game works now as intended. For the record, I'm using 4 XBOX360 wireless controllers with the official Microsoft wireless dongle attached to my Shield
Moonlight (install on your Shield): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limelight&hl=en&rdid=com.limelight
