Watch Faces and Geo Fencing or Schedule - Samsung Gear S3

Is it possible to have the S3 automatically change watch faces based on either your location or schedule? I am guessing the answer is , "no" but I would be very happy to hear I am wrong.

Hmmm - interesting idea. I haven't seen any way of achieving either of those other than a change related to the time of day (when using GWD). Not sure what use the schedule would be by definitely geofencing (change to a workout watch face when you get to the gym). There is a lack of Tasker integration which is frustrating but is probably more about Tizen than Tasker !

Hey everyone. I do more than just walk, run, hike etcetera and want to know if anyone has figured out a way to add other Fitness tracking options on your gear S2 classic? It's really annoying that you can only track walks and runs. There should be an option where you can track other cardio type workouts like hiit workouts or even weightlifting. If anyone has figured out a fix or has any other information about this please let me know. I appreciate it very much

I was actually hoping for this in the next update since the Android version of S-Health just added that kind of stuff... Short answer, no, it does not track movements or anything beyond walking/running/cycling.
The S Health update lets you track just about every conceivable exercise (or I just figured out how to access the list) but on the Gear, you are stuck with just the six or seven preinstalled options. When you initiate a workout from S health, the GS2 doesnt seem to recognize that you are working out. There must be a way to get the GS2 to mirror the list in S health, no?
Bought gear s2 same problem
8 sports on the gear and 90 on my phone, theres gotta be a way to sync the sports from the phone to the watch..
I don't think it matters. When I look at the exercises on SHealth all they do is time it. Not count reps or sets.

Am I alone in wanting this watch...

Am I alone in wanting this watch only to use as a watch? The only tech feature that draws me to it is the ability to wear many great looking watch faces. Not the notifications, not the Samsung Pay, not any fitness tracking, or taking texts and calls. I come from wearing automatic divers and analog G-Shocks. This would be great addition to be able to sport a different look every day. Am I nuts?
Yes you are.

Yep.

Yep
That's how I started, but once I got the watch I discovered it's very handy for music control, quick check of weather, and quick viewing of notifications.
I mostly agree with you.
Time, date and notifications are my biggies. I can't hear or feel my phone at work so I rely on the watch. It's an expensive watch just for those things, but it looks cool too and I can afford it at this point in life.

Interval Training ( e.g. C25K) with Gear S3

Hi there!
The question is, as already said in the title, if you found a way to do the interval training, for example couch to 5k programs, on your gear watch, without taking the phone with you? And of course the activity should be tracked in S-Health.
Thanks!

With Timerro you can set up intevals, but it will not help you getting results per individual interval in S-Health. Like what you for instance get in Runkeeper when you do an interval training there.
I also haven't found a good solution for this yet and am also very interested in a good running app that supports this.
There is...kind of.
There's an option called "Guide at Intervals". Swipe up on screen when it stays "Start running...". You'll see it at the bottom.

Reminders minor bug -- they are in fact what we wanted!

I saw it mentioned that reminders could only be set for up to 24 hours in the future, giving a date and time didn't work. I tried setting one a week into the future by specifying the date and time, and as others noted, the feedback in the display showed it set for "tomorrow" at the stated time.
However, the audible feedback from the watch told me it had set the reminder for the date and time, and when I went and reviewed reminders, it showed it as set for that date -- not "tomorrow". Also, the reminder did not fire the next day at that time. I can't confirm yet that it will fire tomorrow (the date I set it for yesterday), but I'm very optimistic that it will. I'll report back.
So, you CAN say, "Hi Gear.... remind me to take out the garbage on February first, 8 am" and it will do exactly what we've wanted it to.
My biggest complaint vis a vis Android Wear vs. Samsung Gear was the lack of this feature. Now, my biggest deficit complaint is Google Maps and the much more intelligent and useful, "OK Google" for getting information. However, those are far less of an issue than the reminder thing. With this improvement (and there were several others in the new release that I think boosted the Gear line in utility and ease of use a lot), I'm back to recommending the S2 over Android Wear to my friends.
I stopped using Samsung's Reminder app when I learned about My Task app. It has more functionality and syncs across all my devices.

Do you mean the app, "My Tasks in Gear" by Dimitrios Tzimos?
If so, that't not a solution to me, as it doesn't have hands-free voice input.
Samsung did the extra work to integrate the reminders app with S-voice, so reminders can be set directly by getting the watches attention ("Hi gear"), then simply speaking the reminder ("Reminder me to buy milk at 5 pm"). This is EXACTLY the same process -- brief set of steps -- used on Android Wear with "OK Google" to set a reminder.
For me, it's that hands-free, brief process for setting reminders that is the true value. For example, I use this feature all the time driving.
If there's a different Tasks app for the S2 that supports voice entry, and also triggers the reminder alarm on the watch (one of the customer feedback postings also said My Tasks in Gear didn't fire on the watch, but only the companion phone, although I'm guessing this user didn't enable notifications from the phone companion app), I'm interested.
Yep, that's the app. Sync works from watch to phone, but there is no voice activation.
I hope Samsung is able to get developers to create more apps...
ummm
Not being able to set the date on this app is utter garbage. I think I discover a new reason to hate my Gear S3 on a daily basis. It's as stupid as a bag of bricks
So let me see if I understand this - Is there a way to set reminders from the S2 wifi watch using voice or not? If so what is it because I had that on my Pebble and its a BIG deal for me.

Question Make Strava my default

Hello
Is there any easy way to make Strava my default fitness tracker, specifically being able to start a workout from the watch clock screen?
Or will i need to keep opening the Strava app?
My guess is no, but someone may know better. I have mine set as a double press top button-easy enough for me.
