[Samsung Internet] URL Bar to the bottom? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hey Community, hope this will be a beautiful day for us.
My question is, is it possible to move the URL Bar to the bottom of the browser like it can be done with chrome?
Or is there any hidden feature menu as it is in e.g. Firefox with about:config?
Thanks for any suggestions

Nope.

And now ?
They should add this it would be great addition.

just tell this as feedback in the playstore and in the samsung app store. You can also tell them your feedback in any samsung app over "contact us"
I don't understand why nobody likes the adressbar at the bottom. For me it's just innovative and ergonomic.. Hope they will change this

If you want to access the menus for devs similar to those in Chrome Browser. (chrome://urls/) You can type "internet://urls/" (without quotations!!!). There aren't a lot of Flags in the ,internet://flags/, webpage. To use debug settings. Similar to Chrome Browser, type "internet://debug/", you'll get a crash page then just tap the overflow menu (top-right) >Debug settings.

Why do browsers developers in Android make the title bar scrollable with the actual page?
This means that the input box disappears once we start scrolling down and that one has to scroll all the way back to the top to input a new web address.
I checked the settings in both the stock browser and Dolphin, to no avail...Am I missing something?

Try ICS Browser + It is basically the stock browser with some extras, and It has a setting to show the navigation bar using 'short fling down'. It's the browser I seem to keep coming back to.

Probably to provide more screen space. You can use Firefox/Firefox Beta/Aurora if you like. Aurora is the only one with Flash support for tablets, but it's buggy support (expect crashes). Otherwise I like Beta and Aurora.

Don't have to scroll to the top at all, just touch the tab and it will bring up the input bar wherever in the page you are.

Excellent suggestion! :good:
Love the ability to auto-switch to full screen once the page is loaded and the possibility of enabling "side sliding" control pads.

Desktop View of Websites in Stock Browser

I'm sorry if this question is already asked, I've searched this forum, but couldn't find it.
My question is, is there any way/settings through which we can make stock browser to automatically load Desktop View of websites when we open them? I've checked stock browser's settings, but couldn't find anything related to this
Does anyone have idea about it?
Thanks in advance
Regards
"Open the Android web browser. In the address bar enter 'about:debug' where you would normally enter a URL and hit enter or Go. Be sure to erase the 'http://www.' that the browser likes to leave in the address bar for you. No page will load and you may or may not get a pop-up message 'Debug mode'. But if you now go to Menu > More > Settings in the browser and scroll to the bottom of the list, you should see a new group of options under the 'Debug' heading. The bottom setting is 'UAString' and if selected will give you the option of enabling your browser to identify itself as Android, Desktop or iPhone. Results after making this switch have been mixed, but go ahead and give it a try if you have a need to. I'm not sure what the other options do, so use at your own risk."

In address bar type: about:useragent
@NZ JOHN
Pretty interesting. But there is no such option. I used to type: 'about:useragent' and then there is a pop up screen to switch between Desktop, Android, etc..

Thanks for your reply. I've tried it and a new group of settings "Debug" does appear. But still unfortunately there's apparently no option of "UAString" in it
The last option is some "MultiWin3D", which is unchecked.

Oh great! Thank you very much. This option has worked for me. :good:
But will I've to do every time I open the stock browser or is this setting (Desktop View) has become a default setting?

Yeah it is working, but still when I open engadget, it is open in mobile view
But working with many other websites (which I regularly use).
And one more thing which I've noticed, that every time I open the stock browser, I've to set the default view to "Desktop" by going to about:useragent. It would have been even better if the browser had remembered this setting (like it is in dolphin browser).
I made mod with changed User Agent permament (ofc we can use about:useragent to change for android UA (ex. Galaxy S)
Download for:
HoloBean
Kyrillos' ROM
stock
I use UA from Chrome
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.56 Safari/537.17
Thanks again.
But what will these softwares do? I am not an expert with android, so excuse me for my ignorance about it.
Actually when i change the useragent to desktop, it works fine, open desktop view of websites. But when i close the browser and open it again after sometime, I need to change the UA again, otherwise it opens the mobile view of websites.

You must flash from recovery .zip from previous post if you want permament effect.

Okay. I think it wud require a root?
But my phone is not rooted.
Anyway i think i shd wait for the JB update to this phone, JB' stock browser might give this option of viewing the desktop version, and that setting remain there permanent.

You can use other browser. Boat, Dolphin both are very good browser with option to change UA.

How to whitelist Telegram?

Hi there, Telegram seems to be killed of by the memory management software on Color OS.
There is 'white list APK' menu in the settings but it seems impossible to add an app to that list?
Anyone knows how to do that?
In multitasking interface, swipe down on Telegram and a lock should appear in a corner. It should do what you're looking for.

thank you! That seems to work. You have to swipe down slowly though it seems
Hi all, even though Telegram clearly shows the little lock icon notifications still are not coming in.
There appears to be an APK whitelist for the 'clean up & accelerate' tool.
Even though i have the 'self diagnosis frequency' off i suspect it might still kill of telegram or its service. Anyone knows how i can add an app to this particular whitelist?

This is fantastic and really useful. I thought there would have been a discussion thread about this? I just wanted say thanks and also ask why the icons went from normal size in v1.3.9 to super magnified in v1.4, will there be a way to change this? Also I can't seem to navigate the new app information options very well, there are no highlight changes in the menu when you move up and down. The screenshot looks very different

Honestly, I don't remember what the size of the icons were in version 1.3.9
If there's a popular request I could add an option to choose the size.
Can you add a screenshot with how the context menu looks in your device? What version of Android TV are you using?
@easyjoin after some more testing I found that App Launcher v1.4 works fine and displays the same as your screenshot.
There seems to be a glitch that occurs when launching the app after install, confirmed on multiple devices with both versions, which I had mistaken as "super magnified" icon changes in the v1.4 update.

This screenshot shows the version of the app for phones and tablets. It seems that the Play store instead of using the Android TV activity when opening the app, as it should have done, uses the one for phones and tablets.
Good to know even if I couldn't fix it since it's a Google problem.

Well that makes sense then, and I found after testing that it's not an issue once you re-launch it.
Thanks again for such a great app !!!

Now that it's clear what the problem is, I can try to find a workaround.
Fun fact: there is a one star review on Play store of someone who complained about the size of the icons. If he had contacted me, via email or here, as you did, giving me the chance to get more information about it I could have tried to find a solution long ago. Unfortunately, many people don't know that the Play Store, as it is structured, can't be used to analyze bugs and the best thing is, after leaving the review, to contact the developer by email.

Android: Chrome latest update - Recent searches building up under search bar. How to remove?

I find this so annoying. And it just started about a week ago on all my Android devices after updating Chrome.
I want to stop Recent Searches (those little magnifying glasses) from appearing under the search bar in Chrome. Or turn off search history altogether. Turning off web activity doesn't work with Chrome. I can't find anything to stop this.
Thanks in advance
To stop Recent Searches from appearing under the search bar in Google Chrome, you can follow these steps:
Open Google Chrome and click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser window to open the menu.
In the menu, click on "Settings" to open the Settings page.
In the Settings page, click on the "Search engine" section on the left side of the page.
In the "Search engine" section, you will see an option called "Manage search engines." Click on this option to open a list of all the search engines that you have added to Chrome.
In the list of search engines, find the one that you use as your default search engine, and click on the three dots next to it to open the context menu.
In the context menu, click on "Edit" to open the edit window for that search engine.
In the edit window, you will see a checkbox next to the option called "Show search suggestions as you type." Uncheck this box to disable the Recent Searches feature.
Click on "Save" to save your changes and close the edit window.
After following these steps, Recent Searches should no longer appear under the search bar in Google Chrome. If you want to enable the feature again in the future, you can follow the same steps and check the "Show search suggestions as you type" box again.

Just realized I didn't specify Android. Going to edit my post but thank you. Unfortunately this doesn't work in Chrome for Android. No option to manage search engines
This is driving me nuts, too. There's gotta be a flag.
I just uninstalled latest update and this problem solved.
Has anyone found a flag in Chrome to address this?
same here, it's quite annoying

Oh my God, thanks so much it was super annoying
type "chrome://flags/#organic-repeatable-queries" in chrome and go.
then select "Organic repeatable queries in Most Visited tiles"
after that from drop down menu select disable and save.
Hey guys,
I hope you can help me with this additional query/issue:
I using Chrome on Android. Under the search bar are always some icons of recently visited websites/searches which are changing every day. I really don't need this icons and found this annoying like the other issue you reported above.
Is there any possibility to disable this icons in Chrome on Android as well? To disable the mentioned flag doesn't help with this issue, the icons with recent searches still exist.
Thanks in advance.

I'd actually dumped chrome because of this annoyance, so I'm glad to see this fix.
#internetsuperhero award for you.
Unfortunately it doesn't help me to disable this flag. I see still in Chrome the recent searches very often and also the above mentioned icons/shortcuts...
I registered here just to share that this has got to be the most idiotic feature ever. Who th would want search result queries on their home screen. Enabling this by default and not making it accessible through settings was just a terrible idea altogether

This was so annoying seeing search queries on my homepage. Who needs to query the same thing more than once anyway?
