I don't know how to restore the Android security patch level.
But you can reset it to Stock Firmware and can install Magisk for root access, And install TWRP recovery for Custom ROM and NANDROID Backup.

Hello,
I am looking for a guide to root and install TWRP on Sprint Note 5 upgraded to Android 7.0.
Some background information:
Note 5 was on Android 5.11 and was having random reboots, caused by unstable Noble kernel.
I used the following guide to root, install TWRP and stable Beastmode kernel.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-note5/general/how-to-root-instructions-t3187895
Note 5 went south after i attempted to install Xposed on rooted 5.1.1.
I experienced bootloops and was never able to boot in 5.1.1 ever again.
I failed to flash stock 5.1.1 to Note 5, despite multiple tar's and versions of ODIN.
I though my phone was unrecoverable.
Fast forward 2 days and i was able to successfully flash Android 7.0 via ODIN.
I can successfully boot into Android 7.0, though i prefer to be rooted.
Now i need to root Android 7.0, install TRWP, upgrade to stable kernel, and install Xposed, if possible.
Knox has already been tripped and I was not going to use Samsung Pay anyway.
Phone details:
Model number: SM-N920P
Software version: N920PVPU3DQC5 (Nougat 7.0)
Hardware version: N920P.04
Baseband version: N920PVPU3DQC5
Build Number: NRD90M. N920PVPU3DQC5
Please let me know if more information is needed.
Thank you in advance.

Use Odin to root with c.f. auto root just Google cf auto root and download the file for your phone you know the rest. After being rooted you can install twrp with the official app in the play store they give you simple instructions but what they don't tell you is DO NOT FLASH THE .img.tar file FLASH the .img file only .tar files are for pc and will soft brick you. Again FLASH the .img file to recovery. Bang you have twrp if you can't get into recovery download quick reboot from play store works great im rooted with twrp on note 5 7.0 nougat that's all I can confirm. I accomplished this all by reading the forums for 2 days
Anything with CF Auto Root is obsolete. Just follow this guide: http://galaxynote5root.com/galaxy-n...galaxy-note-5-on-android-7-0-nougat-w-magisk/
SAMSUNG ANTI ROOT REMOVAL OR ANY OTHER SUPER USER APP IS NOT NEEDED ANYMORE. JUST INSTALL THE MAGISK .ZIP AND REBOOT.
Files are:
Latest TWRP: https://dl.twrp.me/nobleltespr/
Magisk 15.3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
This will work for ALL NOUGAT builds, including the latest DRA1 (I've tested it myself) This phone is over 2 years old so development is kinda dead to be honest. There is only one custom kernel available here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...nel-twisted-note-7-0-nougat-april-15-t3590280

Hey guys,
I need help with rooting my A7 2018 on a stock Android 9.0 On google i'm only able to find threads of android 8 and below, but i did the 9.0 update.
Is there any way for rooting the phone? TWRP Recovery, SuperSU and maybe a custom rom.
Please help me
best wishes,
darkx112
Download official universal twrp 3.2.3.1 and flash through ODIN..
I did, twrp is running, but no root permissions, neither with superSu, nor magisk. What can i do?
Device: Cherry mobile Flare S5 plus
Chipset: MT6753
- i used magisk to patch the boot img of my device to gain root, through flashing it by Sp flash tool. Couple of months later i updated the device through software update (ota update) which then i lost my root privilege. Android version is still the same, performance upgrade and bug fixes are the only things the ota update did.
Q: Can i still use the old patched boot.img to root my device which i updated through ota update?
( i dont want to use a custom recovery, because it always buggy even it says its compatible for my device )
( i cant get the current boot.img of the phone due to some reasons [buggy custom recovery] )
if you have more questions about the device, ill answer it right away.

OTA has nothing to do with whether Magisk patched boot.img can be flashed or not.
The only thing that really has an affect on whether you can flash the patched .img is whether or not the bootloader is locked.

2. Flash twrp ---> Where can i find the twrp for my device ? Can i flash any twrp with Android 10 ?
3. Install Magisk and root --> I'm not able to install magisk, since twrp is not installed
Procedure 2
1. Unlock Bootloader -> Done
2. Install Magisk without root and create a Magisk patched boot image --> Here magisk(ver 7.5.1) is giving error (Magisk not installed)

Can someone please help me with any of the above procedure to root my device ?

You can only flash TWRP for your specific model number. If there is not a TWRP for your specific model number, you or someone else will have to make one for your device.
Some devices have to use Magisk to patch the stock recovery.img instead of the boot.img.

Thank you for your reply. I tried using Magisk to patch the stock recovery.img. But I'm facing problems using Magisk app.
Problems like:
1. Magisk app not installed (I had installed Magisk manager version 7.5.1)
2. Install button not popping up on the app
3. Installed Magisk canary builds, but the app getting crashed.
Working with Magisk without root is giving lot of problems.
I am a newbie and not technical enough to create my own twrp image. Can you help me with any procedure to create the twrp image ?
twrp recovery image required for SM-M015G/DS
Can someone please provide me twrp image for this phone. Please.

My phone is same,i didnt face any probl
There are few things before flashing or making a .tar file from magisk
1st Download stock rom of your country specific
2nd Extract zip file ,
3rd Download magisk in ur non rooted device and select AP file ,it will create .tar file
3rd Download odin in pc(latest stable version)
4th flash your stock rom(i assume u know basic, like unlocked bootlader)
5th After odin has passed it,go to developer option and on usb debugging(most people forgets to on it after 1st flash)
6th flash ur .tar file in ap section along with other section
7th Any error? Post a image of it
I tried so hard to root my phone before but it didn't work i found out that the issue is about the last update, the last update doesn't support twrp cuz of android 12. So i download the previous frimware (miui 12.5, android 11) and flashed and it worked. I rooted my phone using twrp. My question is : now i have a notification about the new update to miui 13 Android 12 if i update my phone will i lose root?!
Twrp not is compatible with Android 12, but You can root with magysk patching the boot img
