Camera causes screen wake - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I turn off the screen (using power button) when the camera app is open, the screen wakes over and over again to the lockscreen. Causes huge battery drain. The only way to stop this is to exit the camera app before turning off the screen. Is there anyway to fix it? My phone is stock Marshmallow using Samsung Good Lock.

Toggle Screen/Backlight Application

I am looking for a stand-alone application which will toggle the screen and backlight which I can link to one of the buttons on my M700
Background: I am using the GPS for tracking on my phone. When I turn on the GPS & Logging I then turn the screen off using a short-cut from Pocket Power Manager.
Normally I would have to use the power button on the phone to bring the screen back BUT this disconnects the GPS so screws up and logs I am writing so looking to find an app which will purely turn the screen on (using remote control apps i can see with the screen off everything is still running there as normal)
have you tried holding the power button for 2-3 seconds?
in my htc universal it toggles the backlight off & back on again, without going into standby.
Mine doesn't seem to do that. Well it turns the screen back on but it also disconnects the GPS at the same time.

app to enable touch with the screen off?

tried searching various places and could only find apps that turn the screen off, but nothing that would turn it back on.
is it possible to have the screen respond to touch while completely off? or is setting the brightness super low the only way to do it?
thanks.
Why would you need/want an app to do this?
saves the battery and power button.

Yes, I use the App called: "Lock Screen"
Well, it only works to lock and shut off the screen...hopefully giving your power button a longer life time!
Just my two cents, but it seems to me that in order for the touch screen to be responsive when it's off, it would technically have to be on...right? Which would waste the battery.... I don't think the power button on the Fire is so fragile that you need an app to turn it on when it's off. If you're rooted though, you should try "button savior" in the market. It basically has virtual "home" "back" and "power" buttons.

Best / Easiest way to figure out what's waking up the phone screen?

So as I sit by my phone I notice that it often turns on the screen (dimmed) for a second or two, then shuts itself back off again (usually). Sometimes it'll wake itself up and stay dimmed until I manually press the power button to turn the screen off again. I'm assuming it's some app checking for data updates, especially since I have background data enabled, but I'm wondering what the best way of pinpointing which app(s) is/are the perp that is actually waking the screen?
TIA
Logcat,probably.

[Q]How to prevent black screen during calls

I'm running all stock on my Nexus 5 with 4.4.2. If I talk on the phone with it next to my ear the screen turns on and off as it should, so I know that the proximity sensor works. If I use the speaker phone and have the phone away from me, the screen goes black after a minute (which is what I have the screen timeout set to). The only way I can get it to wake up is to hit the power button. This is not a big deal except if I want the power button to end calls. Is there a way to wake the screen after it times out without using the power button? Or, is there a way to tell the phone not to shut off the screen during calls?
Thanks in advance.

Hyperlapse Camera Mode Use With Screen Off?

Is there a way to use the Hyperlapse camera mode with the screen off? When I tried to do this, the screen never times out (because video is being recorded). Also, when I try to shut off the screen using the power button, the camera stops and the Hyperlapse session ends. The screen is a significant battery user. For this mode, it would be nice to be able to let the screen shut off to conserve battery.
Thanks
Smart Stay Enabled?

The S7 has a feature that senses the subject in front of the lens. Let's start with checking your settings.
From your home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Device.
Tap Display > Smart Stay.
With Smart Stay, the display remains on. Try using Hyperlapse with this feature turned off.
