[Q] PDFs

On my browser I go to websites to look up scholarly articles in the forms of PDFs. Some times I'm able to tap and download them so that I can view it in various pdf viewers and other times I get directed to a *****in blank page.
I am not asking to view the pdf in the browser. Google isn't helping me neither is the search function. I just want to have the option/ability to download a pdf so that I can either view it then or save it to my dropbox.
browser pdf
Its usually a setting in your browser.
whether or not to download or open file types
Check options in browser.
I've navigated through the settings and have not found anything to pop out at me as a solution.

Which browser do you use?

"Complete action using" launcher?

As in windows desktop I have the option to choose a specific application to be associated with a file of my choice.
If the option to launch a program was available in the "complete action using" dialogue in android, that would be a very worth component.
I have often found myself missing this feature, and my current situation is calling for the option to open access HTML & text files from the file explorer rather than the ebook reader which requires too many steps to opening the ebook in the reader.
I have tried all the ebook readers on android and the most solid epub fb2 reader I have found is fbreader. Now supporting html & text files in v2 which is still in alpha mode but from my experience it is still the most solid reader you can get for android.
From the file explorer I can directly access epub & fb2 ebooks but HTML/text there is no way I can associate them with my reader of choice.

Android works a little differently from Windows for file association
In Windows the user tells the OS "for this file extension, use this app" (the app/installer can create this association itself)
On Android, an app lists the file extensions it can open. The first time you try and open a file, the OS will check what the apps can open - if a single app has claimed that extension, it'll be used to open it. If multiple apps support it, you'll be given a choice popup, with a "use this as default" checkbox.
If that checkbox is ticked, then that app will be used automatically from then on, unless you either uninstall that app, or clear the default.
To clear defaults, find the app that gets opened in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and tap on it - scroll down to the "Launch by default" section, and if the "Clear Defaults" button is enabled, you can click it to clear any default actions for that app (don't worry, it won't delete any other settings)
Then try opening your file again, and the popup should appear.
If this doesn't happen, then it's likely that either your app hasn't registered html as a supported type (you'll have to ask the dev to do that), or there's something special about html files which means they don't get handled the same way - potentially your app dev could use a different extension, and register that instead.

[Q] Folder sync between phone and tablet over wifi

Hello all, I need to sync folders between my phone (Galaxy S2) and my Infinity... I use to do it with my PC but it's time is up, CPU failes... The folders are my music and photos folders, I would like to do this over the wifi in my house. The app must basically compare the folder contents on both the phone and tablet, and if there are any additions to either, they must be coppied to the other device. For instance if I take a few photos with my phone during the day, the app must detect that there are new files in the Camera folder and send those to the tablet, or if I put a mp3 file on my tablet it must be sent to my phone as well...
Are there any apps that do this? I am more than willing to pay for this functionality
Id like to know this too!

CHeck here:
http://www.estrongs.com/products/es-file-explorer.html
Basically, if your phone and your tablet are on the same wifi, you should be able to click the LAN tab, and then scan the LAN. It will show all the IP addresses of the devices on the network.
This works wonders.

I have been using FolderSync with good results.

Try GammaSync
For PC-to-Android folder synchronization (only one-way at the moment) I developed a free app which does not require external cloud storage services (like Dropbox or SugarSync). It's called GammaSync, and it's available on the Play Store. Maybe you'll find it useful

Does it work directly between two Android devices, without requiring to upload everything to the cloud from one device and downloading again on the other?

Syncs with the cloud.
Esexplorer will require you to copy/paste between devices. Foldersync with dropbox/box.net may be your best bet.
Foldersync allows scheduling of sync with cloud via wifi only or data plan. Its the best 'set it & forget it' option I've found

[Q] How to assign file to certain program

I downloaded AUTOCAD WS but when I search on DWG files on my internal card with AStro or any file manager it seems that the system can not recognize dwg unless it opens from email only.
so how can I force the phone to open the dwg with Autocad WS? I hope I am clear with the question.

[Q] PDF not opening with the correct app

I have adobe pdf reader on my phone and it works fine. I can open it from the launcher, and I can click on a pdf file using EStrong File Explorer and it opens it immediately. But if I click on a pdf file from the Downloads app, it asks me if I want to "Complete action using" either Ebook Reader (which is terrible for reading PDFs) or Nova Launcher (uh...right).
Any idea why adobe is missing from this list, or what I can do about it?
