I have a Free Note Taking App called Simple Notes which I need some feedback on.
The App is super easy and fast, it lets user keep Notes, Ideas and Lists on their device.
The App PlayStore link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simple.notes
The Feedback I am looking for is:
- Does the App Crash? And for what Reason?
- Does the App run properly on your Device?
- Does the App attract you? (Appearance and Functionality)
Any other Feedback is Acceptable.
Thanks in Advance!

Hello!
The App does not crash.
Yep
It does exactly what was declared It is good as a start. However, IMHO, even for the start, some improvements may be done:
Design - Add-button as a floating action button, some nice add/delete buttons, swipe-left-to-delete design, etc.
When the not is too big, you have to scroll down for a very long time. May it be useful to create some Expand button or link?
Some fast-access widget would also be useful

Hello,
I have just recently updated this App, could you please give feedback for the updated version?
Thanks!
Hi!
Looks prettier! But I've got the problem saving the note - there is no button to save it. At first, I thought that it is saved automatically, but when I finish editing the note, it is not saved. Could you please check?

Thank you for pointing it out, when you press the back arrow the note will save.
Maybe it will also be better if i implement an android back button press to save the note also.
Also, do you have any tips or pointers for getting more views and install?
Thanks!

Yep, it works that way. It will be nice if you implement the Android back-button as well, and add some Toast-message "The note is saved", smt. like that.
Regarding the views and installs - if you are ready to spend some money, you may try AdWords, or order the promotion from a 3rd party company (the best price is like 0.09 - 0.15 $ per install). It is the easiest way.
If not, you need to post about your software in as many places as possible
- Create the FB page of the app and ask all the friends, the friends of the friends, and their friends as well to subscribe
- Create the landing Web-page
- If you have some blogger-friend, let him or her write about your software
- If you have some site with lots of visitors, it will be also useful to post about the app there
In general, it is not so easy as it may seem, and in most cases it requires some money

I just downloaded and installed the free version and it looks really nice. However, I do feel that there is room for improvement in the functionality.
1. Scrollable please! I want to use the widget in a 2x4 space, but I have lots of things I want to put on it. Making the widget scrollable will allow me to use a smaller widget size instead of putting it in the 4x4 space I use now (I gave it its own screen). Ill pay for the app if you implement this.
2. Mark as done in one click! As of now, you click once to open a menu that shows your tasks, then you click a second time to mark a task done, then you click a third time to close the menu (EDIT This is totally wrong. Its only 2 clicks, but I think the point stands) Placing a check box or some other kind of button next to each task that marks it as done would streamline this process.
3. Option to display "notes" on the widget. Again, something that would remove "clicks" from the process of seeing notes. Maybe make a global default for displaying notes in all tasks, then be able to edit each tasks individual "note display options" independently of the default. Also, if a task has "hidden notes", maybe place an asterisk at the end to denote that is has hidden notes. As for tasks that display their notes on the widget, the notes should have their own font size, style, and color options, and ideally (for me) should be indented.
These are all just suggestions. I hope some of them get you thinking of ways to improve your app. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Great ideas... but may be difficult to implement. Lets see what ftgg says.

I'm probably the farthest thing you can find from an Android Dev, but I am sure that all of those things are common in other apps. There just isnt one with all of those features that I can find with all of the additional features of this app.

Cool.
The amount of r&d I do depends on the number of people that buy the app. Everyone thinks its the other way round, but for a company time is money, so I have to see an app succeed first, before committing additional resources...
So when people just use lite versions, never leave ratings or comments but still demand features many studios lose interest.

If this comment is directed towards me, I certainly wasn't demanding anything. I was just trying to help you improve your product.
If you think people will buy your app before it has the features they are looking for, you might want to reconsider. I rated your app a 3 because it doesn't have what I'm looking for. I'm not going to give you a 5, let alone spend money, on something that isn't what I want. I hope that makes some sense.
Just installed the free version. Looks good, and I will buy if I continue to use it.

How nice... however, I am a professional developer with over 20 apps. Im pretty sure i know what im doing in this business.
The 3 star rating is just a sign of ignorance, because two of the three features you want implemented are not possible under android at all. In fact, i know of only one other to do list app anywhere near as good as the current early (0.2) release of Moogly. And its still rubbish.
Giving the app a low rating despite it performing exactly as described will only lead to generally lower ratings and less time spent on development. But thats our lot - getting flamed by noobs with $500 phones who shy away from spending $1.48 on something they will use on a daily basis.
Haha, i know exactly how you feel mate - people just dont understand
You are one of the few devs that actually engages with the users, and some are always just ungrateful. I have been trying to do some modifications to it, but as you told me before its not possible!
He gave it 3 star because it didnt have what he wanted, but the app never claimed to have more than what is in the description. The only good reviews are the ones that give 5 stars and say "Works as advertised".
@ftgg99 - Just out of interest which of those suggestions are not possible in Android? Just asking as I'm still getting to grips with what you can and can't do in apps and widgets on Android. Is it possible to mark as done directly in the widget? Also, I have been using GTasks and integrating it into Pure Grid Calendar so all my stuff is in one place, however I fancied a change so am trying out beOrganized at present (but getting really pissed off having realised that the Voice entry function only works when you have wifi/data available - wtf!). Anyway, I'd like to give your app a try so will feed back. Tasks is a big thing for me on my phone and something I use equally as much as my calendar, and having tried most things out there I have to agree that none of them are a perfect solution. So good luck with your app, if I like the lite version I will happily pay your humble price
BTW, would you consider adding in alarm/notification reminder for tasks like in GTasks - find that very handy...

Regarding the not possible thing - i was pretty red-eye after coding all night and after a second thought i must admit that i was wrong. All of them are possible. Im a noob.
Originally i just made this for myself after finding nothing adequate on the market, and i never use any other features - why bother with notifications for example when the widget is one one of only three screens i stare at all day anyway?
Now of course ill have to take people's suggestions into account so the minimalism i enjoy will have to take a backseat
The alarm, notification thing is on the todo list already. Will be implemented next week for sure.
You see, that's what happens. You make something perfect and everyone wants to change it
If you need a crash dummy just PM me, I don't break easily

First off I want to say that the only reason I'm still in this thread is because I think there has been some kind of misunderstanding. I'm not one to argue online, but on the other hand, I don't like people thinking I'm flaming them when I'm trying to praise them.
I respect you're time spent as a dev, but I've been a consumer for longer than you've been a dev and I know that I will not buy a product based on future potential. Yes, even if it's $1.48. As a dev, you should know how those small sums can add up to be quite a bit over time.
Your app is the closest thing I have found to date to what I'm looking for in a todo widget. That having been said, I can't use it because it is missing some, of what are to me, key features. That having been said, I can't rate this app perfectly. The rating system, to me, does not reflect how well an app does what it advertises, but how useful/fun the app is overall and compared to other apps.
In my comment (EDIT: the one i made in the market), I did say that the app had serious potential. That's the highest praise I can give at the moment, but I think it's great praise.
I would appreciate you retracting the ignorant/noob comment, as you realized that the features are implementable.
Thank you if you've read this and thought about it objectively. Good luck with the app. I hope it's a success.
Great app, it would be perfect with Google Tasks sync
Hi, I recently took an Android Development at my school where I made this Flashcards Study App.
There's still a lot of work I want to complete before I call it finished, but it's a good start I think. I still want to add more quizlet functionality to it (since quizlet.com doesn't seem to have an android app yet.)
Download the App!
Some features:
* Offline Mode to study on the go without an internet connection.
* Adjust card flip speeds in the settings menu
* Long press on a deck to view options
* Shuffle your flashcards
* Search Quizlet to access millions of flashcard sets.
* Edit, Delete, and Create new flashcards with a breeze
* Text-to-speech integration
* Multi-language support
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card.
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
EDIT:
I attached an apk that you guys can use since I can't seem to post a link to the play store.
Or alternatively, You can search for "CardCloud FlashCards" in the play store to get the official app.
I'd recommend it since I'm planning on pushing a lot of new features in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks!

So far nice ui
Works good. Is it possible to share own decks with friends? It would be amazing, also an option for read only and read write permissions for shared decks.

Sharing is definitely a feature i'm going to be adding in the feature. Right now i'm torn between integrating some sort of facebook social network to allow for easier sharing. I've been busy trying to learn Ruby on Rails Development and Android Dev at the same time, so the cardcloud website is a bit lacking at the moment. But Sharing is definitely a big feature I want to implement.
Currently I'm in the middle of adding an ability for users to mark each card as easy/hard and then creating an infinite shuffle that will have a smart algorithm to show difficult cards more often.
That should be about two weeks out, and then I'll start working on the Deck sharing.
Great suggestion on the Read/Write permissions too! I think that would be an awesome feature, I've written it down on my notepad, so definitely stay tuned to this thread for any updates I make!
Thanks for trying out my app!

Hi. Great app. Is it possible to manually edit or create a set on a PC and transfer / open / import into the application?
A quick way of implementing this might be to add CSV or XML export and import?
Perhaps a link up to Google docs for cloud storage and on line editing?
Also, would you consider the addition of images on the flip cards? Perhaps a HTML format would make this easy to implement? A picture paints a thousand words and all...
Keep up the good work and I hope its a great success.
Steve.

CardCloud - Flash Cards
CardCloud,
Great effort thus far ... you've added the ability to create card sets! This is HUGE.
Some tips I hope you're able to fix in the coming updates, please.
1. Settings - there should really only be on 'settings' button for the app (the vertical elipses button; top right/bottom right corners).
2. Logon - should be a little more clear "what" service the logon pertains to.
- I thought the ability to logon to Quizlet would work with this ?? I'm an Android newb and I've already realized things are "assumed/presumed" to be known to new users, which its not clear on many applications or the OS itself.
3. KEEP the "skip logon" this is critical and I've come across many notes type apps that I cannot even create a note when in the subway because they require a persistent internet connection = total pain in the ass and useless! You've got a good thing going with this "skip logon" ability please KEEP IT Much appreciated.

Thanks! I'm planning on adding that feature pretty soon. Right now I'm on the verge of adding support for marking cards as either correct or incorrect. Also I'm adding in an in-app purchase to remove ads. I've also been working on the website portion of my app (cardcloud.net) which will allow you to upload your local decks onto a website (once you create an account) once it's uploaded, you'll be able to export from the site.
That's still a work in progress, hopefully in a week or two, I'll have that ready for you.
In the meantime, you can expect an update for marking the correctness of each card in the next day or two!
Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for trying out my app!

Hey! Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words.
I really like the idea of the skip button for logins. The reason the login is there is to allow users to sync their decks with the website portion of the app. (CardCloud.net) But I've been busy working on the app and haven't had a chance to get the webapplication completed yet. Hopefully in the next week or two You'll be able to backup your local decks/cards onto a website, where you can save them on a computer.
The settings functionality is a bit confusing, so I've done a bit of tinkering with it to make it more intuitive to use. Thanks for the suggestions though! I really appreciate the feedback.
In the meantime, I'm working on a v1.2 release which will allow users to mark cards as either correct/incorrect/half-correct/etc, to help with remembering your learning progression. Keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll be able to push that up to the google store by tomorrow. I'll also update this thread once that's complete!
Thanks again for trying my app!
Hey. Just uploaded an update to the current App on the Appstore.
Some New features:
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card. Mark a card as Correct/Incorrect/etc
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
* Settings AutoSave when changed, rather than having to hit a save button
* When Viewing a Deck from Quizlet, download the deck directly from the cardview for your convenience.
* Change your settings (flipspeed and question/answer reversal) from the cardview.

Hi, my girlfriend wrote out 20 sets as study for her exam on Wednesday. Her phone updated your app and it seems her card sets have been deleted (or lost). :crying:
Is your new updated version deleting user inputted card sets?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick response if you have a way to retrieve them.
PS, where are the card sets saved? In files (what location in phone)? Perhaps we can retrieve them manually?
Thanks, Steve.
Hey sd00, I'm really really really sorry that happened.
I found a bug in my code that was clearing the sqlite DB on updates.
I fixed the bug, but unfortunately it looks like her cards have been wiped.
This is embarrassing, I'm a noob and didn't realize that would happen.
There's nothing I can do, but promise it won't happen again.
For what it's worth, If I sent you guys an ad free version of that app, would that help?
Again, I'm really sorry, let me know what I can do to try to make it better.
I'm working on the ability to create decks online and then sync them to your phone, so hopefully that'll make it easier in the future to recreate the decks.
(If you'd like, you can even send me the questions/answers and I'll type them back up for her myself.
if you pm me an email address, I can send you an apk for the free version too.
Again, I apologize for my noobness.
For such a new app - this was an unforeseen mistake by the developer. The fact that he's VERY apologetic and this app does offer some great features over the competition I'll still support this app!
As experience is gained and more testing directly by the developer we'll this app continually excel and grow in feature sets and less bugs. Not many people appreciate developers' hard work and even less developers are as humble as this one.

Hey Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words and support! It's been a lot of fun working on this app and I've learned a lot from the experience. Hopefully as I improve, so will the app. Sorry again to sd00 for the bug. I spent a few days testing and retesting to make sure it wouldn't happen again before I pushed up the newest update this afternoon.
I've been working on the syncing functionality the last week or so and I got it finally working the way I wanted. Not 100% yet, but allowing users to create their decks online I think is a necessary feature, since writing out individual cards on a phone is a pain. I'd like to tweak it a bit to make syncs work faster/better, but I'm slightly limited by my web server since it's a bit slow. Hopefully if I can generate any revenue through the app, I'll be able to put it towards faster servers. I'll keep an eye on the bug log to make sure nothing goes awry though.
I've pushed the new features up onto CardCloud.net allowing users to login to their accounts and create their cards online. Also, I uploaded the app updates to the google play store so users should be able to get the updated app with fixed functionality. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up this time .
In the meantime, I have a couple new features in the pipes that I'm working on that I think should improve the app. Hopefully I'll be able to get these pushed out in the upcoming weeks:
- Image support for flashcards. Definitely a top priority feature, should have an update for this within the next few weeks.
- Rich Text Editing. Another top level feature I want for the app.
- Better Quizlet integration. Search for usernames, and returning public decks, recently studied, etc
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. When I get new features implemented for this app, I will post them here.
Development stops?

Hello
I wrote a shopping list application, in which i focused on a speed in
which you can create a shopping list and share(and update after that)
it with your friend. So i avoided any forms often frequented in this
type of applications, and came up with a very simple design. You would
just enter your items into the text field with some autocomplete,
adjust the amounts, then click sharing button, select your friend and
that's it.
I also use Google App Engine for server side to keep this free.
I wrote this a while ago, now i would like to improve it to add some
more features, so any feedback and ideas for improvement would be much
appreciated

I wrote this a while ago, now i would like to improve it to add some
more features, so any feedback and ideas for improvement would be much
appreciated

Cool app. I like it. Clickable link :

I got this idea to many time ago, but was something like ( you should add it) a "social tasks" list, for example, there are some few tasks to do at home, you put this in the social to-do lists and everyone in the family could see the lists, and when the tasks are completed, they should be notified or the task deleted from the social list!!
Just watch the démo vidéo ans it looks really nice !

Really nice app, follows some feedback:
Try to implement the native ActionBar or use SherlockActionBar. Using just the native ActionBar will make your app incompatible with versions below 3.0. Using Sherlock your app will be compatible with 2.1 and above. This will make the app more integrated to the system.
Other changes you can make on this aspect is read the Design Guidelines (sorry I can't post links), learn some thing about good designs and look for other apps searching for inspiration.
Good! My housemates install this app too!

Hi @GammaL, great app!
Can you please add compatibility with Hebrew language? I mean, not a translation - an RTL support on the shopping list.
Please refer to the screenshot I added, to understand the problem.
You can see that the First item in the list is in English and is perfectly readable. The second item, is in Hebrew and automatically aligned to the right, so it's getting in line with the other buttons.
I use OurGroceries app. It is a pretty similar app and easy to use it would be worthwhile a look for feature set. That app also works on iOS and BB platform making it appealing to much wider audience. http://www.ourgroceries.com/

Agreed Holo please. http://developer.android.com/design/get-started/ui-overview.html
Also, maybe you might want to integrate Google Tasks or some more popular to do list manager, like Any.do or Toodeldo. That would make this app truly extraordinary.
Downloaded it but have not tried it yet, but I like the idea
Was wondering, how the data is transmitted from one phone to another ... is it over some server that you have setup?
What if other users end up with similar names? Would every Maryxx receive the list?
Would it be better if those big "- & +" are replaced with a simpler "< & >" or maybe even a manual entry box? Reason for a manual entry box is maybe the item required is 2.5kg or maybe 1.5 cartons or 1.5 litre of milk.
Thanks for your app
How do I login to a username or nickname that I've already created with this app? I downloaded it Friday but flashed a new rom Saturday, so now I can't use the same nickname I created Friday, and my wife is annoyed with me lol.

I had the same problem. This is the only weakness in an otherwise great app. The advice was to create a new new name and get the wife to share again. Was a but complex to achieve.

Hello XDADevs,
I have built an Android App that should work as a calculator for complex numbers. It can do simple tasks such as add two numbers but can also factorize a polynomial or solve one for its roots. I have created different layouts for Smartphones and Tablets and would like feedback from user here. Of course, anyone is welcome, but I'd especially like someone with a mathmatical background to try and make my calculations break. Results can be easily shared in text format.
The app can be downloaded via Google Play here and is available in english and german:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.vertedge.complexnumbers
@WeissenbornC I have a further maths exam in a few months which includes lots of this sort of stuff, and although I wasn't looking for an app like this, I saw the name had "numbers" in and was interested it looks like it would definitely be useful for checking if I've correctly found roots of polynomials like you say and things like that; I'll do some revision over the weekend and see if your app gets the right answers! (Hopefully I will too :silly: )

Thanks, I hope the app will help. The limitation is that results are found as decimal values, e.g. the square root of 2 will be 1.41... The exact result depends on the number format, which you can set yourself in the settings.

I hope I didn't disappoint too much: The matrix part leads to my other app on the playstore, which is free for real (meaning java double) numbers, but does cost money for complex numbers. The amount of money should be less than your average chocolate bar however.
Thanks all for the feedback, it's very much appreciated.
I wanted to thank you guys for bringing my app to the front page. I was surprised and it still gets me smiling to this day that the best resource I know out there on mobile development noticed my little dot on the screen of the app world.
I also changed the name of the app to "Complex Numbers Calculator", because, after all, to be seen takes more than making a great app today.
Hello all!
This is my first post on this forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong place, let me know! I would like to show off my latest Android App that I've been working on for the last few months. It has been a long path of changes, changes, and more changes! I've really enjoyed how far I've come with learning development. So here it is!
Planets is a educational app that is centered around providing users with information about the planets in our solar system. It also has info about other objects like the Sun and Pluto. I recently redesigned the app to make the content easier to scan and make it a little more fluid like. I have a community[1] set up with Beta testing for the people who want to test stuff before it's released to the public. I am looking to gain a larger user base but my main goal is just making the app look nice and easy to use. You can download[2] it on the Play Store and feedback/ratings are appreciated. So far, I've got about 1,400 downloads and I'm hoping to get more! Also, you can view the full source code for this app[3]!
See attachments for screenshots.

Wonderful application, always been an admirer of Astronomy and this is just brilliantly put together. Will come back with a decent feedback soon .
I know it is easy to pick on any application but knowing how much effort might have gone in does help (through your github post).
Is it possible to convert the given units into scientific units (e.g. mass of sun = 1.9891 * 10^30 kg)?
Hi, I'm a fan of astronomy but I'm also a graphic, web-designer/developer... I love you app and, if it is possibile, I want to make some themes for this app!
Very nice app. Informative and yet easy on the eye. Looking forward to further updates.

I'm always up for more astronomy. Great work, keep it up. :good:
Very nice! Love the UI, looks very intuitive.
Some suggestions:
- use translucent bars on KitKat
- make the back animation consistent with the open animation. For example, when you tap a planet, the card zooms in to fill the screen; but when you hit Back, the screen kind of fades away (the default Android exit animation). It would be nice if it zooms back out.
- like @orville87 said, it would be easier on the eyes to express the units in scientific notation.
- Pluto isn't a planet anymore, right?
I would have asked for info on extraterrestrial moons, but it would seem too outrageous a request.
Subscribed, awaiting further updates
Which of those are the app that is being shown here:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Planets&c=apps
?
Is it this one:

?
where are the links to download and also see the source code ?

wouldn't it be better to put text on the links themselves ?

Not enough information. Can you tell me how is this app better than the others universe related apps in Google Play? I appreciate your effort but if you want your app to be competitive he should add more features or at least more info because the info included here is common and can be found in wikipedia for example. There are also apps who also provide 3D model of the solar system with the orbits of all planets.
I'm not trying to offend you, don't get me wrong.

For being a high school student and balancing life and school and this, I take pride in the work that I've done. Sure there are better apps than mine with more info and awesome 3D renderings of planets, I'm not afraid to admit that. However, I'm proud of the work I've done and if people don't recognize that it IS work from a high school student and not some average middle-aged developer, then so be it. Thanks for your feedback :good:

As I said in the beginning of my post I appreciate what you do because I love astronomy and physics so it's good beginning and I'm not hating. But yet you needed something to stimulate you to develop your app. I wish you all best and I'm sure that you'll keep developing this app until it becomes competitive to all the apps out there.
