Have you disabled "Play Alone" in Settings > Player..?
If it's enabled it suppose to be happen.
If it happens even when "Play Alone" is enabled, then Maps doesn't request audio focus. When some other app requests for audio focus, MX Player will pause till the app releasing the audio focus.

Set default music player for bluetooth?

Right now, I'm using jetaudio as my music player.
I connect my phone via bluetooth to player music. But when I press play without opening/playing on jetaudio first, built in default music player plays (Apollo).
So, I disabled default music player. Now, when I press play nothing will happen unless I play on jetaudio first.
It seems when jetaudio gets unloaded from memory, bluetooth control does not work.
Is there anyway to set my phone to open and play with jetaudio when bluetooth control to play music is received?
I tired to set jetaudio as default music player, but could not find such a option. Also, jetaudio is not even on open with list when I open mp3 file.
Most likely, the developer did not implement the functionality for jetAudio to be the default app for music. You might want to request it from them. I've seen this issue in several camera apps, which can be a real pain if you have a physical camera button on your phone.
If the developer won't fix it, then you can fix it yourself with the app HeadsetButton Controller (and you'll add some extra functionality to your Bluetooth headset/device. It's definitely worth the few bucks if you use a Bluetooth headset IMO). The app includes an option to change the default music player, and jetAudio shows up for me as one of the options.
Thanks for the info.
I found also found app called Media Button Router. I will give it a try.

[Q] No Sound and player crazy

While in backgound the MX Player cut the sound off and player displays more time than the music has. See photos. I'll not be able to listen music while in GPS software, help
Anyway, it's the best player of the market, congratulations.

Try turning off 'Play alone' on Settings > Player. It will prevent MX Player stop playing on system events.

[Help] Send audio over Bluetooth while using MX Player

I'm going on holiday in a few days, and while travelling I want to watch some episodes of the Blacklist. I downloaded the episodes I want to watch, but my audio port on my OnePlus One is broken. I don't want to fix it, because it'll cost me a ****load of money, so I'm looking for another option to watch the episodes on my OPO. Now I'm still owning this Samsung Galaxy S2+, and I thought, maybe it's possible to send the music to my S2+ and watch the episode on my OPO while using bluetooth. I hope this is possible, if so, please let me know.

I had the same issue. The only working solution is to install first from Google Play "Bluetooth Connect & Play" application (author: Carl Parziale). Launch the application, go "tweaks" menu, and select "Start player on basic bluetooth connect only". When you cennected with the car, choose VLC player to play. This way you can see the movie and listen the audio the same time. Unfortunatelly this application - and many others - does not work with MX Player, as MX Player is rather a movie player than audio player.

The OP is something different than you are expecting. The user wanted to play video in OPPO & Audio in S2.
In your case, I have read the description of the app. It just connects the bluetooth device & starts the third party app to play. They support limited apps. If you want to use MX Player, just pair the audio device directly from your settings. Open the MX Player & start playing. Since you device is paired with audio system it will automatically route the audio to your car audio system.

Default music app behaviour

Hi XDA community,
I have just received a reply to a 'bug report' I submitted.
I queried if the following is normal behaviour on OnePlus devices:
1. Pair phone with Bluetooth headphone/speaker
2. Disable Google Play Music (this is so that I can change the default Music app)
3. Change default Music app (I changed it to Pi Music Player)
4. Open default Music app (Pi Music Player) and play any track
5. Stop track and close the default Music app (Pi Music Player)
6. Open YouTube or any other streaming app and play content
7. Close YouTube
8. Click play/pause button on Bluetooth headphone/speaker
9. This should open your default Music app (Pi Music Player), but it does not.
I received the following reply:
'Good day sir, as we confirmed, this is by default design, In this case, youtube app won't handle any key event if they're in background.
Thanks for your effort and hope you have good day.'
My question is are OnePlus saying that if I use Youtube then the play/pause button on my Bluetooth headphone is disabled on OnePlus devices even though Youtube has been closed, shutdown and not running in the background? If so this sounds to me like default music app setting in OnePlus is not working properly. This is the same even if I restart the phone. The only way to make it work is to open default Music app (Pi Music Player) again and play a track.
On all other devices I use when clicking the play/pause button on my Bluetooth headphone the default music app is automatically started regardless of whether I have previously used Youtube and then closed it.
Any thoughts?
Can someone advise how the 'default music app' setting is supposed to work in OOS? OnePlus have confirmed that it doesn't ensure your Bluetooth headphones to auto start your default music app.
This was the reply:
'Yes sir, it will open the last player app you run and it's current rules. It may not change in a short time.'
Other than selecting 'Auto Play' under 'Earphone mode', is there any way to get round this as it is annoying having to take the phone out of the pocket to open music app.

Mx player pro play alone setting causes video playback to stop

I get error that video playback has stopped because another player is using audio device, I like choosing the play alone option so that mx player and other players would be stopping each other whenever I decide am using a certain player. All in all, I MUST decide to unselect play alone option so that I get to play videos.

It seems that when your system refuses to grant the audio focus. It's a standard practice to request the audio focus for playing any audio. If some other app is already playing, the system will notify it so that it can pause/stop till the requested app completes the playback.
But, the system may refuse if the device is in the call state. If there is no call in progress, it could be a firmware bug which leaves the device in the call state or another app is using the voice call stream. Kindly try again after restarting.
Disabling the play alone is a workaround for the issue. MX Player will play the videos even if the audio focus is not granted by the system. However, it may result in different issues like MX Player may not pause the video when you receive a call or some other app starts playback.
