Rooting any android device and replacing KingUser with SuperSu (NEW METHOD) - Android General

Hey guys. This is my first post in XDA and its about how to root your phone. When I first rooted a device, I had to go through tons of articles because none of them made sense to me. Once I was done with it, I realized that rooting was not so complicated after all, and so to relieve you of the confusion I had, here is the ultimate rooting guide (noob friendly ).
Kingroot is a third party app that can root almost any device and it has a very high rate of success. The whole thread relies on this amazing app. The app is your best bet to root, unless you have a native root method for a phone. (Google it )
What you need:
1. Working internet connection on your device.
2. Lets download the other things later , move on
Procedure:
1. Install the latest version of Kingroot on your device.
2. The app will show your device's model and android version and will also check for root access. Tap on "ROOT" and let the magic happen. (You need to have a working internet connection to root with this app as it uses cloud services to find the best root exploits)
3. You now have root access. If you don't , tap the Root button again and ensure that your internet is working fine.
4. Root access obtained. :good: :good:
But that's not all. You now have kinguser as a root manager. Kinguser is full of features and bloatware and tend to slow your device. Most devs recommend a simpler, but efficient SuperSu . SuperSu is the best in business, and was developed by XDA fame Chainfire (Check out the apps he has to his name, its a gold mine).
Kinguser is a royal pain in the uh.... behind, because it doesn't allow you to switch to another manager, so now we have to bypass Kinguser to install SuperSu.
The easiest method to do this is by installing SuperSUme app. The app was developed by gatesjunior and it supposedly removes all traces of kingroot and installs SuperSu.
The SuperSume method has a very low rate of success and most of the time it ends up simply uninstalling Kingroot for some reason. If it doesn't work for you (like it didn't for me), no worries, just follow what I did.
Rooting is nothing but simply flashing the latest SuperSu.zip on your device from a custom recovery. All devices have a stock recovery for updating your firmware with official updates. The stock recovery, however, cannot be used for doing this, and so you need to find a custom recovery that works for you.
Installing a custom recovery without root is a nightmare, so I advise you to do as I did and bear with Kinguser until you install one.
Popular custom recoveries include TWRP (Team Win's Recovery Project), CWM (ClockWork Mod Recovery) and Philz .
TWRP is compatible for lots of devices so start from there. Search TWRP for your_device_model. The custom recovery will be downloadable as a recovery.img file. Download the file. (TWRP link in above paragraph)
The recovery.img file needs to be flashed now. There are lots of apps to flash zips, imgs etc. Use Flashify (for root users).

}
Tap on Recovery Image under flash and select the recovery.img file you downloaded.
Congrats! You now have a Custom TWRP recovery.
Now, since you've gotten the recovery, you dont need KingRoot anymore. Open Kingroot and click on Uninstall Kingroot.
You don't have root access now, but it's only for a little while.
Get the latest SuperSu flashable zip from here
Download the latest ZIP not APK and save it in the root folder of your phone storage (Root folder - the outermost folder which contains the files).
Now, you might guess that we're going to flash the zip with Flashify, but we're going to do it ith our TWRP recovery because Flashify works only with root and you are not rooted ..... for now
Each device has a different key combination to access Recovery mode. Google Recovery mode for your_device.
Optional (recommended): I dont like pressing on the hardware buttons often, because they tend to break easily. If you fell the same way then you can download Quick Reboot app. The app allows you to reboot, reboot to recovery or safe mode, power off etc. and relieve your hardware buttons of all the tension. However, it requires root access and hence, cannot be used at this time.
Access recovery mode of your device and you will be greeted by the TWRP welcome screen.
Tap on Install and select the SuperSu.zip that you downloaded. Drag the dot on the bottom to the right end to install the zip (Swipe to install).
Now TWRP gives you a message saying success and an option to Reboot System. Tap on Reboot System.
Your device will boot and you will find SuperSu in your app drawer.
You have successfully obtained root access, installed a custom recovery, removed Kinguser and learnt a lot about rooting. :good::good:

Not only those two....
Android version is important for this guide to work..
Upto Android 5.x (lollipop) this guide will work by trying multiple times...
If Beyond lolliop then this guide has very little chance...

[ROM] Best custom roms for Huawei Ascend G610S (G610-U00) with complete install guide

Well, as you know, G610-U00 emotion UI (Official Stock firmware) is annoying, lets try to change the overall UI completely from boring Chinese UI into popular phones' UI.
Before we go, back up everything you need (Apps, Contacts, etc...)
Your phone bootloader must be unlocked to do these processes!!!!
1.Download and install VRoot ENGLISH VERSION on PC and root Your G610-U00 first. (Skip this step if you have already rooted your phone)
2.Download and install Mobile Uncle Tools on your phone.
3.Download TWRP English recovery for G610-U00 first and put it in SD card.
4.Download Rom below that you want to install and put it in SD card.
5.Open Mobile Uncle Tools and "Allow" root Permission and choose "Recovery Update" in Mobile Uncle Tools and then
choose "ydss-g610-u00-twrp-recovery-en-v2.0".
6.Mobile Uncle Tools will show you a message "Reboot into Recovery?" Choose "Yes".
You can also go to recovery mode this way
(1)Power off your phone
(2)Press and "HOLD" volume up button and then power button until you get into RECOVERY MODE.
7.In the TWRP recovery,
(1)Choose "Wipe"
(2)Choose "Advance Wipe"
(3)Choose Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System
(4)Pull the Slider below from the left to the right. Now your Phone is clean and ready to install new ROM
(5)Go Back to the menu with Back Key
(6)Choose the button "Install"
(7)Choose the ROM (zip) you have downloaded
(8)Pull the Slider below from the left to the right to install the zip and wait for the installation process
(9)After Installation process choose "Reboot"
ENJOY YOUR NEW ROM!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note (Optional) : For better experience, when you want to download, you should use Chrome Browser to translate pages because the download pages are written in Chinese. If you don't have Chrome Browser, just see the image at the end of the post how to download from.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files to download
G610-U00 custom ROMS(All Roms Have Root Access)
Edit : Google drive link for those who can't access Baidu (by a request).
Google App Installer for no google app included roms(Installing using apk, Need root access)
DEFAULT LANGUAGE IS CHINESE, AFTER BOOT UP, GO TO SETTING>LANGUAGE AND INPUT>LANGUAGE>CHANGE TO ENGLISH.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In any case, if you want to go back to official stock firmware,
(1) Download and flash it in TWRP RECOVERY (I'm not sure it would work in CWM but has 70% success rate )
(Without flashing this stock recovery in TWRP, you won't able to flash Official Firmware).
(2)Download extract the downloaded zip and copy the "dload" folder to SD card.
(3)Power off the phone and Press and Hold "Volume Up + Volume Down and Power Button" until you see the install processing cmd lines on your phone. Wait for the process and the phone will reboot automatically after update finish.
Now you are on the official stock firmware.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notice : YOUR PHONE MIGHT TAKE 10 TO 15 MINUTES TO FINISH BOOT AFTER "FLASHING (INSTALLING) NEW CUSTOM ROM" OR "INSTALLING OFFICIAL STOCK FIRMWARE". IF IT WOULD TAKE LONG MORE THAN 15 MINUTES, JUST PULL THE BATTERY AND BOOT AGAIN. THIS COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF TAKING LONG TO BOOT.
***IMPORTANCE*** : FROM PHONE SETTINGS, NEVER DO "FACTORY DATA RESET" OR NEVER "UNMOUNT" "INTERNAL SD CARD OR INTERNAL STORAGE" WHILE YOU ARE ON "CUSTOM ROMS". IT WILL LEAD TO BOOTLOOP. IF YOU WANT TO DO FACTORY DATA REST GO TO TWRP RECOVERY AND CHOOSE WIPE, PULL SLIDER TO DO FACTORY RESET. IF YOU EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM, SEE ABOVE METHOD "GOING BACK TO STOCK FIRMWARE" AND INSTALL CUSTOM ROM PROCESS AGAIN.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone caused by following this method. I have tested this method and it is working smoothly for me. Be sure to do precisely as my instructions and I am pretty sure this will work 100%. Good Day to you.

Root InFocus M330 (And Some Other InFocus Devices) With SuperSU

Hello everyone, today I'll teach you how to root your InFocus M330 and maybe other devices too in this tutorial. I know that there are many threads about rooting devices but rooting this kind of device which has a locked Bootloader is very difficult. Although, the Chinese rooting tool iRoot works on almost any device but still, people prefer SuperSU more

Disclaimer
I won't be responsible if you brick your device. Although this happens very rarely but still, proceed on your own risk.
Note
Doing this will void your warranty.
------
So, saying this, let's get started.
Step 1
Go to the Kingo Root official website and download KingoRoot.apk (I know that this tutorial is about installing SuperSU but this step is very important to get that) and install it.
Step 2
Click on One Click Root and then it'll get your device rooted with the Kingo SuperUser app. Now, reboot your device.
Step 3
Go to this page and download the Replace_Kingroot_With_SuperSU.zip new version.
Step 4
Extract the mrw folder in your phone storage's root and then go download Terminal Emulator.
Step 5
Now, open Terminal Emulator and then type su then the Kingo SuperUser will prompt you to either allow or disallow the root access, select Allow. Then, type in the terminal sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh. Now, the script will do it's stuff and then it'll launch SuperSU.
Step 5
After it launches SuperSU, it'll ask you to Update the SU Binary. Update it using the Normal mode and then reboot your device.
Step 6
Voilà! Now SuperSU is fully functional in your device. But, the problem is that there's Kingo SuperUser still installed. To remove it, open Kingo SuperUser and then click on the three dots in the top-right corner. It'll open the Settings. From there, choose Remove Root (Don't worry, this will only remove the Kingo SuperUser, SuperSU will still be functional and won't get removed).
Step 7
After removing Kingo SuperUser, reboot your device.
Step 8
After rebooting, open SuperSU, now it'll again prompt you to Update the SU Binary. Just do it and then reboot the device again.
Step 9 (Optional)
Open SuperSU and then in the Settings tab, scroll down until you see Install SuperSU into /system. Confirm the action and then reboot your device again.
Conclusion
So, after a tremendous amount of reboots and following all the steps, this will root your InFocus M330 with SuperSU and then you can enjoy all the benefits of this awesome root-handler
So, that's all for today people, Peace!

Try installing SuperSU manually from Play Store.
Guys You can now root Infocus M530/with kingroot . And to make a backup of stock ROM , download 'Flashify ' app from play store.

[C2304] Installing TWRP or CWM recovery in the Xperia C

Well, I just purchased this device and came here after that to look at what we had and I'm disgusted.
And there are several reasons for that, being:
1 - Locked Bootloader...
2 - This forum seems somewhat abandoned, which leads it to be somewhat disorganized.
EdiT:
Thanks to our friend repey6 > http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5704037
TWRP 2.8.7.0 is now included, and it works just ok, with all functionality.
I strongly recommend you to use it instead of any other recovery. Just make sure to backup your ROM again after installing it, as CWM or Carliv backups won't work in TWRP.
I replaced the old TWRP included in the attachments with the new one provided by repey6, but the installation process remains the same.
Plus, this was not created by me and it's mad old (2014). But still it works better than the Carliv Recovery we have available here...
So Let's go. The proccess is the same for both, just choose the recovery image you want in the end of the topic.
(almost forgot to say that if your phone bricks it's you responsibility, I tested it in mine and it is working fine)
STEPS:
STEP1- Root your phone (if it's not rooted yet).
To root your phone you'll need to:
a-Download the framaroot APK provided in the attachments
b-Install it then click in the Boromir option and the su binary will be installed.
c-Download SuperSU from google play store.
That's all, simple like that.
STEP2- Check your bootloader's S1 Version
a-Open your dialer and input *#*#7378423#*#* , then go to Service Info>Software Info> S1 Boot Version.
b- Check if yours is 2.14.J.2.6 or 2.14.J.2.13 or 2.14.J.2.16 . If yours is one of these go ahead, it should work just fine and you can proceed.
If yours is 2.14.J.0.68 do not proceed, as it will 100% brick your phone.
c- My phone has S1 Boot Version 2.14.J.1.15 and in spite of the developer having not mentioned anything about it, I risked it all and my phone flashed the recovery normally, so if your version is also 2.14.J.1.15, it should work just fine and you can proceed.
STEP3 - Install the recovery
NOW, BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL HERE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE:
a-Download the mobileuncle.apk file provided in the attachments and install it.
b-Download the twrp_xperia_C.img file provided below and put it in your internal memory (not on the external). Rename it to recovery.img, otherwise mobile uncle won't see it.
Now, here's the part you have to mind, so you won't brick your phone.
Mobile uncle can install a recovery using one of two methods. One is by installing the image from your internal memory (which we'll be doing). Other is installing it from the internet.
Now, YOU DON'T WANT to install a recovery from the internet, as mobile uncle doesn't provide any image for your device. So if you flash any of these recoveries, you'll never be able to make your phone boot again.
See in the image below and you'll get what I mean:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
c - So, before proceeding TURN OFF YOUR WIFI AND DATA CONNECTIONS so that mobile uncle won't show any recovery from internet
d-Open mobile uncle.
e-Grant Super User
f-Press "Recovery Update"
g- With wifi turned off, you'll see only your recovery in the screen
h- Click it, the file size of the file I'm posting must be around 6MB ( 6210KB for CWM), if it's different cancel and download file again.
i- press ok and restart.
DONE
:good:
EDIT:
I just noticed that after flashing the recovery you might get your phone stuck in the SONY logo after it.
In fact it happened to me, but just once.
If that happens don't panick. Recove the cover of your phone and besides the SIM-2 slot you'll see a tiny role with the word "reset". Insert a needle in there and your phone will restart normally.

It should work in both, I'm using a recovery for C2305 in my C2304.
Just don't try flashing a C2305 ROM on your C2304. It will not hardbrick your phonw, but the SIM cards will not work and you will get a mad functioning phones.
Some custom ROM's based on stock firmware work in both though.

Sorry for the late reply! Haven't been able to test this until recently due to an issue getting my PC to work properly with my phone. Anyway, I would like to confirm that I was able to flash this on my Xperia C2305 that had S1 Boot Version 2.14.J.0.68. The photo below is proof of CWM running on my Xperia C2305:
Things you will need:
WMShua SuperFlash: http://soft.flushrom.com/WMShuaSetup.exe (after installing, you can change the language to English by renaming Program Files/wmshua/language to Program Files/wmshua/language_x)
Xperia C 16.0.B.2.16 FTF: C2305_16.0.B.2.16_TacoNikky.ftf or C2305_16.0.B.2.16_Congngheviet.ftf (pick one; I used TacoNikky's version)
Procedure:
1. Open WMShua, then click on Flash (not Super Flash). Browse to the FTF file you downloaded. You can choose to backup system before flash (I unchecked it on mine). Follow the screenshot below for guidance:
2. Turn off your phone. Next, hold down the Vol- (volume down) button on your phone. While holding down, plug in the micro USB cable. The LED will flash red. When it changes to green, release the Vol- button. WMShua should automatically try to install the needed drivers. After installing drivers, it will begin the flashing process. If your phone turns on instead, simply unplug it from the USB, turn it off, then try again.
The flash process may take a long time (it took 30+ minutes for me), and sometimes it may look like it hanged, but it's actually working. Just be patient. Once it reaches 100%, your phone will automatically boot up. Check your S1 Boot Version—it should now be 2.14.J.2.16. You may find that you've lost root, so you will need to root it again (I use KingoRoot). After rooting, follow the instructions on the first post to install CWM or TWRP. Good luck!

i also want to root this device. i try all things like king root, towel root everything but no luck.. devloper plz help us to root this device.
Nothing Work
I have been working on a root for this device for the last 6 months. The only place I have made any headway was CF Auto-root. I'm not able to post links yet so just search cf auto root. On the page type sm-t285yd and two options will pop up. Choose one and look for your firmware build. I have not been able to root as of yet, even with this site. It gives you boot/recovery/cf auto-root package. Most of the problems I have faced are due to not being able to get to the recovery once it is flashed in Odin. I will be searching for answers and root until I find one. Of course, I will post it here when I finally break my phone.
Some Light in the Tunnel
I have made some headway with Magisk. I have never used any of the software associated with Magisk, but it seems at least for now, it will do the trick. I will dive into it further tonight and try to post an update shortly.

In order to flash Magisk you need to have a custom recovery right?. So may I know how you did it?.
You don't need a custom recovery for Magisk. From here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445) you follow the odin steps.
there are two ways to install, first was "via custom recovery" and the other "via Magisk Manager v14.0+"
This method does not require root or custom recovery.
you'll need a stock boot image you can extract from tar or md5
Here are the instructions from XDA not my work "By topjohnwu, Recognized Developer / Recognized Contributor on 3rd October 2016, 06:00 PM"
"This method does not need root, and also does not require a custom recovery.
However, you MUST have a stock boot image dump beforehand, and also be able to flash the patched boot image, either through fastboot/download mode or ODIN
Install the latest Magisk Manager
If you're planning to flash the patched boot image through ODIN, go to Settings > Update Settings > Patched Boot Output Format, and select .img.tar. For normal users leave it as the default .img
Press Install > Install > Patch Boot Image File, and select your stock boot image file
Magisk Manager will now patch your boot image, and store it in [Internal Storage]/MagiskManager/patched_boot.img[.tar]
Flash the patched boot image to your device and reboot. Voilà!
Check whether Magisk Manager is installed and the version matches the latest one in the OP
If for some reason Magisk Manager isn't installed/upgraded automatically, please install it manually"
Hope this helps!
Modules working now
I have had a hard time trying to get modules to work in magisk.
Steps taken:
completely removed magisk
re-installed everything
i decided to try a few things
BOOM!! busybox install fixed it all.

Samsung Galaxy tab J SM-T285YD Dual Sim ROOTED
Hello everyone, this is my first post on XDA, I hope I won't be boring anyone. But it seems that there is no complete guide or tutorial to root the SM-T285YD. I will post here what I did to root it, I followed the lead of some of the other users in this thread and some from other sources.
My device is the SM-T285YD Dual Sim. Here is what I did;
I checked which rom I had installed on my device, it was stock rom from Taiwan, ****T285YDZTU0APL2, android version 5.1.1
I googled for the rom and found it somewhere, it wasn't difficult. I went with Magisk. The instructions were: copy the rom to your device. Here comes the problem, the rom is 2GB it will take up the little free storage left on your internal. So I copied it to my SD card instead. Next instruction, install the magisk apk, version 7. Go to settings in magisk and change the output format to what you intent to use to flash it with after you're done. You have two options; *.img or *.tar. I intended to use Odin to flash when I was done, so I chose *.tar.
When you open Magisk, it will tell you it is not installed, so click install, after which two options appear. Choose "patch rom", select the downloaded rom you saved to your sd card and wait. It will produce a patched boot image in *.img or *.tar file of about 8MB and saves it in your download folder in your internal storage. It may save it in the Magisk folder, just look for it once it is done patching. Copy this patched boot file back to your PC and put the tablet in download mode, then flash it, I had a tar and flashed it with odin 3.10.6
A problem that occurred with me was, although I copied the stock rom I downloaded to the SD card, I still didn't have enough space on my internal storage for Magisk to do it's job, so I had to delete EVERYTHING I could. Flashing went lightning fast and the reboot only took a minute or so longer than normal. ROOTED!!!
Good luck everybody. Hope it helps.
(I edited the text here to make it hopefully clearer and easier to understand, some people didn't quite get it, hope it is clearer now. Of course, as always, if you're not sure about it, or new to it, leave it alone. There is always the risk to brick your device)
It should work if you do it right. Good luck!
This doesn't help.
What didn't work, exactly?

It does not work, after flashing when I restart the tablet a red text appears in the left corner saying "KERNEL SEANDROID IS NOT ENFORCING" and it stucks on there. I tried to restart it lots of times also did a factory reset but nothing is working.

SOME INFO:

Antutu Score: 30052 [source]
As of Jan 6 2018, latest official firmware is v13 06292017.

Disclaimer: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will not assume any responsibility for your own actions on your phone. Follow the instructions carefully, and ask questions if you're unsure.
Tested way: Magisk Manager patched boot method
Other option: SRS Root reports to root the v12 firmware, though I didn't use this method so I don't know if it works.
Magisk Manager Patched Boot Method
1. Unlock your bootloader (Note: this will factory reset your phone and you will lose all your personal data) To do this:
Enable bootloader unlock inside developer options, accessed by pressing build number 7 times in settings. Thanks @Nao Tomori !
Install adb and fastboot on a computer (Search it, it's available)
Reboot to fastboot mode (Switch off phone, press power and volume up simultaneously. Choose fastboot mode from the menu that appears)
Connect to computer by USB Cable provided
Open a command prompt or terminal and check if fastboot detects your device by typing
Code:
fastboot devices
A device number should appear. If nothing appears, it's a most likely driver problem. Click this button to know more.
Linux doesn't need drivers so try using fastboot in linux. If you really want to do it in windows, try PDANET drivers while connected in fastboot mode. No guarantees. I'm using a linux machine to specifically avoid this hassle

We're now gonna unlock your bootloader. Type
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
and confirm unlock by clicking volume up on your phone.
Reboot and go through all the necessary set-up.2. Download Magisk Manager from here and install the APK.
Make sure you download the latest apk version provided.
Note it says that Magisk itself is not yet installed.
We've only installed the helper app.
3. Flash Patched Boot Image
At this point you have two options: extract and patch your own boot image, or just use my patched boot image. I will assume you pick the second but this REQUIRES that you are on the same v13 06292017 official firmware. PM me if you want to do the first one. Download my patched boot image.
Download
Move the file to a known location that's easy to type (home directory or C Drive)
Reboot to fastboot mode, same as before
Flash with fastboot then reboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched_boot.img
Code:
fastboot reboot
CONGRATS! Magisk should now be installed and along with it, Magisk's Superuser
Press thanks if it helped you! And/or leave feedback if it worked for you, and if your setup differed from mine. Thanks
MODS

1. Xposed Framework (systemless)
Install Xposed framework from within Magisk. Install API24.
Then reboot. This first boot takes really long. I pulled out my battery once, then the next time it successfully booted after a while.
Install topjohnwu's Xposed apk from his systemless Xposed thread.
It will tell you that Xposed is installed but not active yet.
Reboot one last time
2. Dolby Atmos (systemless)
Install from within Magisk. Confirmed working!

If you get fail operation
If you get
Code:
FAILED (remote:
Unlock operation is not allowed
)
Just go to Developer Settings > OEM Unlocking and enable it.
I used PDAnet for Windows and it worked

hi there bro. i just want to know, is there a custom rom that we can use for this phone? i have the same exact phone but i cannot find any articles about any other custom roms that has been used on this phone. hoping to hear from you. thanks.
And another thing, can we use TWRP for this phone?
Hello. Is there anyone here who has a clean stock rom for Starmobile UP Prime? The phone keeps popping up ads and redirecting to chrome/google play. Contact names sometimes disappear too. I ran the malwarebytes app and it said that "Settings" app is the malware. I downloaded and flashed another rom before (I forgot from what website), but same experience. Hoping for helpful response.
