6. One of them will open a window containing two taps "Explore" and "Your Stuff"

Already flashed MIUI ROM? OK, pick up your phone now, let’s start our happy journey of MIUI ROM.
The first step: selecting apps
Various apps will greatly enrich your cell phone, so firstly let’s select the apps to your taste. Use the Android Market and download what you would like. If you are using a backup app and restoring apps from a previous ROM, only restore the apps and not the data. Otherwise that will create a lot of force close issues.
Tip: How to copy files from the computer to the phone? First connect your phone to your computer via data cable, pull down the notification panel from the top of the phone, click “USB connected”, and then click "Turn on USB storage”.
After copying, do not forget to select the option of “Turn off USB storage”, otherwise "File Manager” in the phone will not be able to find the sd card, as it is being occupied by the computer.
Now I have a lot of apps, how to put them in order?
All apps successfully installed are listed on the desktop, however, they may not be in the order you want, how to put them in order?
Long press an app icon and then you may move it freely. When it is moved to the screen border, the screen will automatically switch to the next screen.
How to add a screen? Use two fingers to pinch on the desktop to enter screen thumbnail mode. Then you may add or delete screens.
How to delete an app? Long press the app icon you want to delete, drag it on top of the trash box and click OK to delete it.
The second step: let's make your phone different.
A phone without style is nothing remarkable, so let’s make your phone different!
Changing wallpaper: Click Menu button on the desktop, select “Change Wallpaper” to replace the wallpaper. In addition to the existing wallpaper in the phone, thousands of pieces of wallpaper are also available online.
Changing theme: Themes make great changes to your interface style. Click “Theme Manager” on the desktop to select the theme you like. Also, more online themes are available online.
Selecting ringtones and more: click “Settings” on the desktop to set call and notification ringtones. In “Personalization” under “Personal” tab, you may find more options.
The third step: it’s time for some advanced techniques!
Well, you are no longer a beginner now, so let’s learn some advanced techniques.
Adding widgets on the desktop: press the Menu button on the desktop, select "Edit Mode", and then click the icon on the upper right corner to access the interface of “Add Widgets”. Choose your favorite widget on the top, and then drag it to the screen below.
Using folders to manage desktop apps: in the interface of “Add Widgets”, drag [Folder] to the desktop. You may drag multiple apps into folders to classify them. After opening the folder, you may click the edit icon in the upper left corner to rename the folder.
Using toggles panel to improve efficiency: drag the notification panel down from the top, click "Toggles" to go to the toggles panel (It goes to the toggles panel in default of notice.) On the panel are listed the most commonly used toggles, you may click to quickly enable or disable a toggle. Long press on the icon will launch the settings for that icon.
Guest mode: enable the “Guest Mode” toggle in the panel, and your calls and text messages logs will be hidden, and all installed applications cannot be removed. You may have a try when you need to show your phone to guests or children.
Importing contacts or binding accounts: you may use some apps to import a batch of contacts, or bind Google account directly in "Settings"> "Personal"> "Accounts & Sync Settings" to sync contacts at any time.
How to print screens? Press "Menu" key and "Volume Down" key at the same time to print a screen. The printed image is saved in the directory of MIUI in the SD card.
How to copy files from the computer without using the data cable? In case of a Wi-Fi connection, enter “File Manager” on the desktop, select the tab of "Remote Administration" to start the service, and then you will get an address. Enter the given address on the computer, then you may copy files without using a data cable!

I'm installing this for now anyway, seeing how it runs, if it's a dud, then I will go back to AOSP UK 2.2 if I can? Wonder if MIUI will keep to there 'Update every week' promise. lol, thanks anyway
Themes force closing for me on this...did a fresh install (wiped data/cache/davlik). I thought the OP stated that theme manager was fixed.
There's a fix in the first post of the original thread in their forum. He already said that the support for this ROM will be given there.

How to REBOOT your stock android

Hi guys,
I found out how to reboot your stock android without shutting it down.
First you will need ADW launcher ( from market )
use that as your home launcher
long press on empty space and pick CUSTOM SHORTCUT
in the pop up box select PICK YOUR ACTIVITY
select ADW ACTIVITIES ( let the list populate ) might take some time
select ACCOUNT AND SYNC SETTINGS
once that shows more options select
ACCOUNTS AND SYNC SETTINGS(COM.ANDROID.SETTINGS.ACCOUNTSSYNCSETTINGS )
when this gets added to your home screen, press it and it reboots your android
there enjoy
EDIT #1 : you can do this with a special launcher like adw etc
download the app " ANY CUT"
create a shortcut
select account and sync #2 ( its not organized like adw soo its the tree is already broken down for you )
once the shortcut is on homescreen click on it.. boom reboot
all credit goes to MILESTONEX
Thank you for the contribution.

[APP] FastLaunch

I was used to myKbd on my Palm TX which let me at any time pop up a launchable list of my favorite apps by holding down the home key.
So I made FastLaunch which lets you pop up a launchable list of my favorite apps by holding down the SEARCH key.
Small, free and open (BSD liceanse).
You can also have WiFi/Bluetooth/Airplane toggles in the popup menu.
Available in the Market, with source code here.

Features of Nougat

Android 7.0 Nougat is rolling out now, starting (as usual) with Nexus devices and eventually moving on to other phones. The new OS is loaded with new features and refinements, each one improving upon the overall Android experience. Some changes, such as bundled notifications, are quite obvious. Then there are the less visible changes, such as a new multitasking shortcut. Follow along as we take a look at what’s new in Google’s latest mobile OS.
Daydreams become screen savers
With Google repurposing Daydream as the namesake for its VR platform, a new name was needed for the previous Daydream feature. That new name is Screen Saver, which makes so much more sense than Daydream did in its previous incarnation. Android screen savers still work in the same fashion as they always have.
Quicker multi-tasking
You can now double-tap the recent apps button to quickly switch between your two most recently used apps. For example, say you’re in Gmail but need to look something up in Chrome to include in an email. You can open Chrome, find and copy a link, then double-tap the recent apps button and your device will switch back to Gmail.
Use two apps at same time
Samsung users have long had access to using apps in a split-screen mode. With Nougat, Google is officially adding support for multi-window support to all Android devices running Android 7.0. To activate multi-window mode, long-press on the recent apps button. Whichever app you’re currently using will go to the top of the screen (on a phone, or to the left on a tablet), with a list of recent apps shown along the bottom. Select the second app you want to use from the list. Drag the divider to resize the app windows, or to maximize either of the active apps.
View two Chrome tabs
It took Apple an entire year to introduce split-screen tab viewing in Safari for iPad users, but Google did it at the same time it introduced multi-window to Android. When using Chrome in multi-window mode, tap on the Menu button and select they super handy option of “Move to other window.” It’s fully acceptable to point and laugh at iOS users if you feel the need.
Drag and drop text, images when in multi-window mode
When using two apps at the same time, you can drag-and-drop text between the two windows. Highlight the text, then long-press on it until the text begins to float. Drag it to a text field in another window, and let go. The same goes for sharing images between two apps, assuming they’ve been updated for the latest of Google’s wares. Magical, right?
Finally, the lock screen gets a wallpaper of its own
It only took way too many years, but the day has finally come: You can now set a wallpaper specific to your home screen, and a different one for your lock screen. The process to accomplish the once unthinkable feat hasn’t changed much—after selecting an image to set as a wallpaper, you’re shown a new prompt to select where the image will live.
Clear all recent apps
Google added a Clear All button to the recent apps list, only it’s a bit hidden. Instead of placing it at the bottom of your screen when viewing your recent apps, you need to scroll to the top of the list where you’ll find the handy Clear All text. Tap on it, and all apps are closed out. When you’ve closed all your recent apps, a new icon is displayed letting you know there are no recent items.
Where did that APK come from?
Android Nougat will now keep track of where an app was installed from. Open Settings then Apps and tap on any listed application. Scroll to the bottom of the page, where you’ll see the source of the app’s installation. For example, if it was installed from the Play Store it will say as much. If it’s something you side loaded, it will state something along the lines of “Installed from Package Installer.”
New installer animation
Speaking of installing applications outside of the Play Store, you’ll find a fancy new installer animation when sideloading an APK. It’s a subtle change that won’t have a dramatic impact on your day-to-day use, but it’s not a bad looking change either. Who doesn’t like seeing the Android bot whenever possible?
Bundled notifications
Have you ever posted something on Facebook, only to have your notification tray blown up with alerts of likes and comments? Me neither, but for those who have you’re going to love bundled notifications. Once an app updates for Android Nougat, it can opt to have all of its notifications bundled into one alert. Slide down on the respective notification to reveal the rest of your alerts for that particular app.
Reply with speed
You can now reply to messages from apps like Facebook Messenger, Hangouts, or Messenger directly from the notification. Of course, this means you can hold a conversation without having to bounce between a messaging app and another app. It’s important to note, this isn’t limited to messaging apps. Twitter apps, for example, could add the ability to reply to mentions
Notification importance setting
You can now set the importance level of an app’s notifications to fit your specific use of that app, including allowing an app to ignore your DND settings. With a long-press on a notification, you can view the current importance level. Tap on More Settings where you can turn off the default automatic setting, and adjust its interruption level. As you move the slider, a brief explanation will detail each alert type.
Data saver
Tired of paying for data overages? When using an Android Nougat device, you can enable Data Saver to restrict specific apps from using data in the background. Under the Data Usage menu, open Data Saver and turn it on. You can then go through a list of apps installed on your device, and enable background data for each one you want. Otherwise, apps will only gain access to a cellular data connection when you’re actively using it.
Quicker quick settings
When swiping from the top of the screen with one finger, you will see a row of quick setting shortcuts just above any pending notifications. Tap on an icon to enable or disable features such as Wi-Fi, open Battery settings, or turn on the Flashlight. It displays the first 5 items in your quick settings, so if you reorder those, you'll change what appears here.
Tiles are so in right now
You can now add multiple Quick Setting options to your device by viewing your Quick Settings panel and tapping Edit. You can still tap on tiles to edit a setting or interact with it. Alternatively, you can still long-press on a tile to disable or enable a feature if applicable. Third-party developers now create apps that live only within a Quick Settings tile.
Easier Settings app navigation
When navigating through the Settings app, now you can quickly hop between various sections using the hamburger menu on the left side of your screen (or by dragging in from the left edge). Settings are broken down into the same categories as the main list, but using the slide-out menu eliminates the need to tap the back button, scroll, then select another setting category.
Suggested settings
When you open the Settings app your device will offer some recommendations for various settings and features you should set up. For example, upon initial setup Settings recommended I set up Screen lock, add en email account, set up “OK Google” commands, and change the wallpaper. Tapping on a suggestion will open the proper settings pane or app. Alternatively, you can tap on the overflow menu to hide an item from the list.
New Emojis
Android Nougat includes the latest and greatest Emoji approved by the powers that be, including bacon! Beyond the latest and greatest emoji baked right in to Android, you’ll also notice Google has reworked most of the emoji included on its mobile devices. Smiley faces now have a more human look and feel to them.
Cancel button for app downloads
Ever start to update or download apps from the Play Store, only to remember you’re on a cellular connection or your battery is about to die? You can now cancel downloads directly from the download notification, instead of having to tap through each item in the Play Store. Slide down the notification, tap cancel and your data bucket is safe.
Keyboard shortcut helper
Using a physical keyboard with a tablet like the Pixel C adds a level of convenience and mobile computing appeal to the tablet. However, learning and remembering each apps’ keyboard shortcuts can be a chore. With Nougat, you can press Search + / to view a list of shortcuts for the app you’re currently using.
Thanks for reading #Nougat

HIDDEN FEATURES & FUNCTIONS and how to get at them with Nova Launcher!

For those of you who have not really dug into what you can do with Nova Launcher gestures, you are in for some fun!
The origin of my looking into it was the lack of the Battery meter that we all know exists in Android. In another thread a user pointed out that you can map a Nova Launcher gesture to expose that screen. With that, I have been tinkering for a while now seeing what else can be done. So far, I found a few useful things, but I am sure, you will find more ! One thing worth noting, THIS DEVICES MENU SYSTEM FRUSTRATES ME as many times a message will pop up saying " you need to "do something" because of "something " and when you click the message, it deep links you into the Nex's menu. In many cases that screen it exposes is like a " Huh, well dam, this screen has useful functionality, I need to access this in the future" moment. The next though is, well how do I get back to this menu again? Easy, hit the little "<" at the top of the screen to have it step back through where it is in the menu tree - WRONG! It always just takes you back to your home screen - DAM ! Well, with Nova Launcher gestures maping to activities, you can find many of these "hidden or buried" menus in the Nex.
So here goes - Note that YOU MUST have Nova launcher installed and setup to be your main launcher.
1. Open Nova Launcher
2. Tap on Gestures
3. Pick a gesture you wish to map (for testing, use pinch in - as you may have already used the good ones up - like doubletap )
4. From the next Nova Launcher menu, tap on "Shortcuts" at the top of the screen"
5. When you tap on "Shortcuts" you will now see a list of items you can map to. Select "ACTIVITIES"
6. Scroll through the list util you find something interesting > tap the item to now map to that gesture
7. Now - test your gesture !!
HERE ARE SOME VERY INTERESTING ACTIVITIES AND SECTIONS I HAVE FOUND - I have not tried these all yet (unless indicated)
- Assistant > Assistant - this is the google assistant (assuming you have it installed). Its nice to be able to call it from a gesture as we do not have a "long press" option when we are using the Nex's gesture navigation
- Battery > Power Consumption ranking
- Factory Test > any one of these, lots of cool menus and tests, including test for the pop up camera!
- FuntouchOS Launcher > There are a few here that look interesting like
- Settings > HAVE FUN HERE - lots to see!!! More comments about this below.
- Smart Click > Smart Click > .Main Activity - WOW, why cant I find this menu in the normal settings ??? This lets you map the volume down key when the screen is off to pretty much anything !! I set mine to call google assistant. It wont call it when the screen is off, but when you unlock, the assistant will be waiting there for you!
- Smart Launcher - a number of interesting things here - Have fun !
- System UI - This looks to have a lot of fun stuff, like " Marshmallow land " - ???, " Screensaver", "Sweets Box"
- VoLTEconfig > VoLTEconfig> .console.VoConsoleActivity - This brings up an entire VoLTE config menu.
-Vtouch > a few interesting things here
- Wisdom Engine > a few interesting things here (This stupid thing ends up shutting down all the mods we do ! - Maybe some clues within the 5 mappable sections here - any takers?"
----------------------------------------------------
OK SO NOW - "- Settings > " Here are a few I tested - There are over 200 settings here for you to test!
Settings>Battery>.fuelgauge.PowerUsageSummary - This brings up the hidden android battery screen that lets you see OST and battery stats
Settings> Launch Camera Quickly - This brings up a menu that lets you launch the camera by pressing the power button 2 times !
Settings > Night Mode - This brings up a night mode menu with a scheduler - Very cool!
Settings > Smart Button
--------------------------
So that's it for now. Normally I would say " no magic here" but with funtouch launcher being more like "dumbtouch launcher", there could be some worthwhile discoveries here. Please post any great finds !
-
Thank you, it would be good to have an hack also for a full multi-window experience. It's get frustrating a so big display in mono(almost) task.
I'm new in this thing, can you give me link that show how to download and install nova launcher
