What carrier? I'm with T-Mobile and haven't received since the 24th of April and it wasn't that large either.
Sim free, so far the ui seems a lot smoother

I updated about 4 hours ago, with a device that has never been reseted, and been through 3 major updates (+500 mb) without a reset. No negative consequences have happened at any of the updates, UI is smoother all around, and standby battery has improved a lot. Even though I have both, WhatsApp and Kik open in the background, the battery has decreased only 4% in the past two and a half hours with me using the phone once a while. This is incredible, and the device has not heated up once in use, I can't even tell that the phone is on by feel, because it doesn't produce any heat.
I did read that many people did have issues with the update in India, where it was released first, but I have not had any issues, only big improvements. I've also noticed that the India update changelog did not list the things that mine did, so maybe they did changes to the update? I've also been trying to "use my phone like it's meant to be used", this includes no accessibility service hacks or gutting TouchWiz from the inside with a package disabler. I feel like changing how the system is meant to work is only going to make it worse, since a LOT of people were involved in making the S8 run fast and smooth, the exact way it's meant to be used for the average customer. The user interfering in this by disabling packages will inevitably cause errors in cross-process communication, where system applications are trying to communicate with other system applications that have been disabled by the user.

Do you know this forum has a SEARCH-function?
There's already a thread about Firmware-updates:
OFFICIAL STOCK Firmware-update (Odin) thread Samsung GALAXY S8+ SM-G955F
will this update enable 4x4 MIMO and 256QAM ?
After a factory reset my device seems to be fine. Maybe mine had a bad install... be good to hear if other people have had the same problem?

Completely true!
Odin has nothing to do with the updates received through OTA.
Then the word "Odin" should be removed from the thread title because is misleading
Conversely, we may need another thread for discussing OTA updates, no Odin required!

Well, I had the update and can confirm my SD card is now much faster. I store my music and photos on it and now it's just as fast as reading from internal memory. I can't judge the Bluetooth part, don't use it much. I have my iPhone for that. I will test my memory speed but expect no issues.

I don't know if any of you have had the SD card mounting/unmounting problem, but do you think or does it fix that issue that has been ongoing in some of the Samsung community? I think it should fix it since it does seem to tweak it considerably. This is what myself and others are waiting for (in U.S). Please leave your carrier or country when you get the update, thank you!

That's what they said about KitKat, yet it introduced the Android OS, Android Kernel and Mediaserver battery drains... And the new SD permissions that is a nightmare for anyone without Root.... And a bootloader that made it impossible to roll back.
That's what they said about the S3 update last year that caused te device to freeze over 50 times a day (the SDSfix caused it).
That's what they said about several updates that were recalled because of fatal errors...
So pardon our reluctance to trust in that principle.

Strange: I've NO battery-drains at all, even with Gear 2 connected and 25 notifications active! My battery-usage is between 0,5-1,5%/hr!
SD-permissions is NOT the fault of Samsung: you'll have to blame Google about that!
Developers of apps were in-time informed about this change, but if they don't update their apps!

That wasn't the point. They were introduced with the updates, regardless of who caused them.
I don't have the drain issues either, but there are more than enough people here who do to warrant it an issue. Idle mine drains 1% in 10 hours. (Also, what is the point of 25 notifications? You can't see past 8 without scrolling a massive way down... And they don't fit in the small bar, either... )
I know it was Google's doing. I have about 35 posts telling people exactly that. I never said it was Samsung's fault.
Most app devs are simply too lazy. (Particularly the ones in this country.. Have you seen the RTLnieuws app? Good grief... And the Skyradio app is a direct iOS port that can't even run in the background..) Take OfficeSuite. one of the largest, most popular and most expensive Office apps... And still no updates permission. They're blatantly ignoring it!

jcase has already stated that 3.0 is not intended to support Moto phones. I think it's for the HTC phones only. Not to say the Moto phones may unintentionally benefit from the update, nor that there isn't a "version 4.0" coming later on, so I agree with you on waiting to take any updates whatsoever. Please do post all over every Turbo forum thread if 3.0 works when it's released. I mean, borderline spam the entire forum to let people know, lol.
I was planning to wait to get the phone until an exploit is found, but with updates coming out-of-the-box it may not be long before the stock of phones at 21.21.12 are gone and stores start stocking the phone with 21.21.15 already installed, so I'll be getting a 64 GB tomorrow afternoon.
I find it very odd that there is no information online as far as what the .15 update affects (supposedly not the VoLTE update).

I rocked .12 for the first 8 hours, then finally updated to .15 - right after updating to .15 a number of updates not available previously in Play became available for the Camera app, looked to be darn near every Verizon app, and a few other tid-bits... only thing of real note was the Motorola Camera app getting an update that didn't exist prior.
The camera also showed better performance with the update, especially in the neighborhood of noise in shadows. As well, battery life seemed better, but that could be the phone getting a proper charge / battery level reading.
The 15 update fixed my IMS issues I was having. On 12 my IMS wouldn't register but on 15 it works flawlessly.

The main reason I need IMS is at Badger football games at camp Randall, the legacy spectrum is over saturated and won't allow me to send SMS without IMS. The LTE network can handle it however.
I'm beyond confused on what to do right now. The tablet is having problems left and right and Im just so confused, and no answers from Google are helping me.
Basically, I have three problems. First, the tablet cannot boot past the Nvidia logo. Second, the battery charges EXTREMELY SLOWLY. It took ten hours to get to 35%, and I fell asleep waiting for it to get one percent. And third, it discharges rapidly while on with the charger.
To note what I did, I installed TWRP, did numerous factory resets, and installed LineageOS. However, it just won't boot. Sp I am now here. Please help, I have no more options.

It's best to not update the OS ever. As long as it works. Also, Google auto update should be deactivated. In general, updates are bad. They take storage and eat performance in 80% of the case.

Regardless, this means nothig for the battery. I've also never seen updates ruin a device. For example, updates actually saved my phone out of brick. If not for Cyanogen, this phone would've stayed bricked.
OEM updates usual ruin the performance. That's my experience.
I've tried numerous 7.1.2 custom Nougat roms and have recently gone back to stock 5.2 and have to say that the device works a lot better.

After the 5.2 update, my K1 is running a bit smoother/faster than before. Particularly screen rotation, opening keyboard, opening apps & going back to home screen.
Battery life is as it was before the update.
One of the previous updates (5.1?) similarly improved performance a bit.

Experiences will vary. But that goes with just about any software change, be it an OEM update, custom ROM, kernel, etc. For every person that says the performance, battery, etc. is better; there will be another that says it's worse.
There are lots of variables in how you use the device, what apps, etc.

Hello everyone. Today my S7 Edge received the December security patch which was released few days ago. It weights around 25mb and it definitely improved scrolling smoothness through app drawer and UI in general. I saw some other people report minor changes in system apps. So did you receive December update and (if you did) what are your thoughts?
I'm using the S7 Exynos variant (G930W8) and I still haven't received the December patch. I assume that your phone is the Snapdragon variant.

Nice. Wonder when this is going to hit Canada here. We just got the November security update not long ago on Rogers. Really want this December update now.
USA Tmobile S7 customer. Just updated to the Dec 21, 2017 patch, and it definitely didn't fix the 2hr battery life problem the previous patch caused. I noticed over the past couple days that the low-light and rear camera pics had become less clear and less sensitive too. A brief test right now suggests that might be better. And it looks like they fixed the word prediction/auto-correct problem. We'll see how it goes as time goes on. Regardless, after being loyal to Samsung since the s3, I think I'll get the newest version of the Pixel next. This battery stuff is b.s. and, from what I can tell, it's affecting every s6/edge, s7/edge and s8/edge in the country, and has been since the Oct/Nov patch.
I'm not sure how a security update would affect navigation smoothness... ? Maybe it's about clearing the cache after the update install, not the update itself ? Anyway, it's always good to see it doesn't slow down the phone lol
And to answer the question, exynos version here, did not received any update yet :/

I have rechived update yesterday, it was there when i manually updated. For me it may be improvement. Maybe everything works just slightly smooter..So positive feedback from Finland and exynos variant.
I cleared cache after update just to be sure.
I really should migrate to PHN from BTU . Samy has problem with BTU recently! In past BTU was the first CSC to get update but now it is the last or even worse it does not get update for months.

Don't you believe me?
Try it and you'll see.
And if you don't like it you can always go back to former firmwares.
I got this a couple of days ago but have seen no mention of it on this forum. It only seems like a security patch though.
EDIT: This was received in the UK
This too has been suspended.. Hope they'll b able to release a bug free os when they finally do..

I didn't either, but there are people that have got it today, so it's matter of patience.

Are you from India?

There is a thread about this update. Why do you people need to open 100 same threads over and over?

I have been saying that same thing for a long time.
If you are going to be snarky about an existing thread, you could at least post a link to it! This one came up on the search when I started to post a new topic suggesting it was similar to my question.
Here's the question I was going to post, but will post it here instead so there is "not open 100 same threads over and over". (since there was no link to the original post that was about this update and it didn't show up on the suggestions)
I received the first Oreo update on 03-Jan-18: Oreo 8.0.0, Security Patch level December 1, 2017
My understanding is that Xiaomi has started rolling out the second Oreo update that fixes a number of problems in the first release, but I have yet to get it. We own two A1's, and my wife's A1 has yet to get either Oreo update and mine has not received a January security patch or the latest Oreo update.
I'm just wondering if any of you who got the original Oreo update has received the latest one?

Fingerprint is faster than before.

Thanks Androidman720. Does it show as a January security level? Maybe it will make its way to Thailand before the end of the month. I'm hoping so.

EDIT: Right after I posted this, it arrived on my phone! Now I just have to decide if I really want to apply it. With all the issues reported, I am not sure. The first update seems to work well for me: no camera lag to speak of (1 sec), notifications work properly as far as I can tell, etc. The only downside is a 'quieter' audio output, so not sure about rolling the dice and applying the upgrade. Will wait a few days to see what others experience.
EDIT 2:
I went ahead and did the update. Sound seems to have changed again. I went into my music app and changed the EQ to Flat and the sound was much better. I did not hear any hissing, even with classical music, but old ears may be the issue there. I don't use BT unless needed, so cannot address that issue. So far, notifications and icons all seem to work as they should. Camera app is unchanged at ~1 second from press of camera icon to ready. Fingerprint reader seems to have gotten faster, though it was no slouch (compared to my iPad) before. So far, battery usage is what I consider normal, but I don't use the phone for a lot of high drain things like watching videos or playing games. My battery easily lasts 2 to 3 days and is what I consider normal. If this changes with the new update, I will update this post.
