Does LineageOS on N5 support app2sd or link2sd? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My N5 is 16GB version, and I am almost running out of storage. I want to try to move some apps to an external SD card through a OTG cable. But I found the "APP2SD" option is gone. Then I turned to the link2sd app, but I could not get it to work.
I have formatted my SD with 2 primary MBR partition, but the link2sd app still complain that it cannot find a 2nd partition.
I wonder if these functions are actually supported on N5.
Thanks.

You would need to have otg plugged in at all time. Lol

What? You have no SD card to offset info to. The device /data partition holds /data and /data/storage. Even if you could move/link apps, it would be on the same partition.
The only option would be a OTG case of sorts...

[Q] How to use link2sd?

Hi All,
I have a galaxy s2 plus (gt-i9105p) with android version 4.1.2.
Because of the limited space on the internal sd card I thought it would be nice to have apps on an extra external sd card. But I haven't managed to do this so far, is it possible?
To use link2sd the app info says:
-The phone needs to be rooted.
-A second partition on your SD card is required
My phone is rooted, but I'm having problems creating a second partition on the ext. sd card. I tried the "MiniTool Partition Wizard". Because it didn't recognize the sd card (there is no letter assigned), I activated the usb mass storage option on the phone (via: app terminal emulator:su -> setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb -> reboot). This worked, so I created two partitions, one with fat32 (primary) and the other with ext2 (primary). Then windows explorer started to freeze up and the ext sd card was no longer accessible. On the phone it said "damaged sd card." I reformated it and so I'm back to where I was.
Also partitioning via de CWM is not working. It doesn't seem to do a thing.
Any help to get link2sd working is appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

It doesn't really move the apps to ext-sd(SD CARD)
I'm not sure but it moves the apps from the emulated storage to the system storage, correct me if i'm wrong

It moves only apk file with libs (or without) to mnt/asec and takes memory from extsdcard, but doesn't create any folders/files in it.

Try using the app called "Aparted" by Sylskat. I made an ext 4 with but I dont know what happened and it turned to ext 2, maybe my card doesnt support that kind of storage. But the partition I created with it works. Also it has swap support, if you want

TWRP partitioning external SD doesn't work (Unable to locate device to partition)

Hi,
since the internal storage of my 8GB Moto G3 is pretty small, I wanted to move apps to my external SD, but there is only a hand full of apps I can move.
So now I wanted to partition the external SD I have, but when I want to start the partitioning, it says "E: Unable to locate device to partition".
When I google for exactly this error message, I can't find any solution. I formatted the SD via the phone, I also formatted it via PC to FAT32 and exFAT and I formatted it via TWRP to exFAT and also to EXT3 and EXT4, none of these methods worked.
I also tried it with the MicroSD mounted and unmounted, made no difference.
Also can I make the external SD to the main storage for the phone, so all apps put their files on the SD card like Whatsapp, without symlinking every folder manually?
All apps won't move to the SD. I'm guessing that if the developer specifies internal, that's all you get. On the first soak you could force apps to external which I tried with mixed results. A few would work, some wouldn't. Even on the latest, some app's widgets won't work if the app is on external.

Having the same issue here, I have a brand new Santin 128gb and I want to partition it to my HTC One M9, I formatted it and then wanted to immediately partition it and then I am receiving the same error and cannot find anything else online.
Same problem here I've got a Lexar 32 GB Micro SD.
Same problem here, with twrp 2.8.2.0

Android 6.0 sd card internal external storage

Ive read a few forum thread but im still not sure so i need a conformation from anyone who really know about this stuff.
1. I set my sd card as internal storage . Unfortunately i cant use it as external storage. Maybe we can set two partition, one for internal ext4, and another fat32 as i use before for link2sd. But i think this wont work too. Is this correct?
2. Assuming setting it as two partition wont happen, i want to make use the foldermount apps to store data and obb in sd card. I tried, but it wont work. Write permission or something else. Do i have to patch it like kitkat before to enable it foldermount still not supported.
Im now back on lollipop rom until those issues solve.
Device - redmi 2, 8gb 1gb ram.
Sd card for external storage reasons, titanium backup, nandroid backup, media stuff.
Reason not using otg- more hassle, need to carry the cable. I reflash rom every day, sometime twice a day.

SD Card - partition problem / 1st partition FAT is not mounting, only 2nd ext2 works

Hi @all.
I wanna use Link2SD to increase the device storage.
I tried thousands of tutorials to partition the SD-card with all possibilities (as recommended 1st primary FAT32 and 2nd primary ext2/3/4)
Finally Link2SD works with the 2nd partition and is able to link the apps to this partition, BUT my phone does not find the first partition FAT32 anymore and is not able to mount it. Even in link2sd it only shows partition 2 available, and the first one not.
I have a 32GB card and tried FAT32 - 20GB & EXT2/3/4 - 10GB but also FAT32 - 28GB & EXT2/3/4 - 1GB - nothing worked.
only when there is just one partition with FAT32 and whole 32 GB at all than the phone mounts the sd-card
I tried also with a smaller 8 GB card, still the same.
It is nice that link2sd works now after rooting and also using the rootfix and Init.d Toggler (to not have the bootloop anymore), but the only problem is that I cannot use the bigger part of the sd-card for normal files.
Anyone got solving ideas for this problem? big thanks in advance
Solution
Some SD cards after creating two partitions, the first partition cannot be mounted.
The second partition, used in Link2SD, works fine.
So you'll need to format the first partition -and ONLY the first- to NTFS filesystem.
Also you will need "Paragon UFSD Root Mounter":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter&hl=en
After you install the app, run it. it should mount the new NTFS partition and it will be totally usable in the system.

Can't move apps to SD card (Links2SD not supported on this phone?)

I've been trying to move apps to my SD card using Links2SD, but apparently this phone doesn't support moving apps to the SD card. Is there a way to do this?
I also tried "linking" apps to the SD card (even though I'm not quite sure I understand what that means), but I'm getting an error saying I don't have a second SD partition. If this is my last hope, how do I create a new SD partition?
Running Resurrection Remix on 6.0.1.
Thanks!
Edit: found this thread on creating a second partition, but I'm wondering if it's possible to do it on the phone since I don't have a card reader.
I think you can use TWRP to partition the SD card... A ext2/3/4 partition is required to use Link2SD on any device
Note that you cannot use the card as adopted storage. Always set the first partition as FAT32 and the second as ext4, or the card cannot be read in some Windows PC's, I would recommend a minimum 32GB card and at least U1/UHS-1 speed rating for acceptable performance.
