sorry if this doesn't quite belong here but I was curious to go back just to stock kernel, not completely stock itself. Could anyone link me to a good step by step for me to do this? Do i use adbfastboot the boot.img only? Im just a a little confused..
Sorry I am still new and learning. Thanks for any help!
Download the relevant kernel to your device from here.
Reboot to recovery
Install the zip you just downloaded
This stuff tends to be a lot simpler than you'd expect, tbh.

Download the factory images from Google : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerheadkot49h
Extract the boot.img and flash it via fastboot.. (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
Make sure your on stock rom before you flash it..

Fastboot, you flash with fastboot and yes the kernel image is boot.img. You should probably also reflash your ROM (system.img if you're on the stock ROM) as many custom kernels also modify the system partition.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I am indeed on stock rom. To flash the system.img is pretty much the same as the boot.img yes?

As long as you don't flash the userdata.img, you are fine!
If you are using the flashall script then remove the -w flag and you're good to go!

And so sorry but what do you mean the flashall srcipt?
Would that be basically flashing everything to stock?
Sorry for such dumb questions

So no worries since you don't flash all (you use the "Method2" from the link I posted above), about the "flash-all.sh" file, when you open the factory image file, you have this script, more info here about the "-w" to delete: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51949577&postcount=4.

thanks for you help my brother. Just another question.. If I have a nandroidbackup on the computer that I made before I installed my custom kernel, could you somehow use that to get back to the stock kernel? Is that something...or I am just asking the most ridiculous questions?
It seems the more I read, the less I am confident with adb, flashing, backups etc.... :S

If want the stock kernel download the factory images from google and flash the boot.img via fastboot. That's the easiest way.
If you still want to use nandroid backup then copy the nandroid backup to the correct location... Head over to Philz Touch recovery and use the custom restore option by which you can select only the "boot" and "system" partition. But I haven't tried doing it so can't say whether it will work or not. However, technically it should work. I have no idea how to do this using TWRP though as I haven't used it much.
Keeps booting to recovery mode and I have no idea how to install stock rom again. Is there a way through fastboot? oneplus recovery doesn't let you install anything.

why do people play with things they dont know?
LOL! I don't know why this was so funny to me. Basically day 1 of people getting their OnePlus 6's and already "I bricked my phone" threads popping up.

There's no update through recovery and haha yeah lol. I love rooting and messing with things but I'm simply a teenage novice ? So not always the best with it all. Worst comes to worst I just wait for twrp to be released and fix it from there.

I'm sure there's a way without TWRP. I'd try to lend a hand but I've been away from OnePlus for so long I don't know how it's different than my Pixel 2 XL.
I'd dig around the OnePlus 5T forums. software wise, it should be the same. You'll probably find a quick solution over there. Good luck!
EDIT: Now I'm curious... Does anyone know if there is a way to lash a factory Oxygen OS image through fastboot commands? That would solve your problem, but I don't know if that's something specific to Pixel devices.
I hope u unlocked ur bootloader, also how the heck did u already soft brick
see if this works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMlj7rML10o
What did you even do to soft brick it? You could try fast boot flashing the boot.img again and see if it boots, get the one from the root thread if you're on the latest Oxygen OTA.

No I tried flashing all img files I could from 5.1.3 and no luck. Stuck on boot animation.
Did you try to flash stock boot img 5.1.5 in fastboot ?
EDIT : try to flash in both slots
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img
SOLVED!!!!
Had to critical unlock in fastboot and restored to 5.1.3 by flashing all imgs. Then booted up and flashed from local storage 5.1.5. Phone is back up and running again ?

i also bricked my phone. pls share msm download tool if you get.
Hi, have you solved the problem? Do you have the bootloader open? If you have the bootloader open you can put the ROM by fastboot, after putting it recommend to do a factory reset.

Well... Its possible. But in the most cases you can't boot into fastboot to flash the fastboot rom. This happens when you format vendor or system for example. I saw someone wrote this at the OP7 Pro forums. Bootloader will get locked with no system installed. I guess that's why we don't have custom roms yet. No one wanna risk to brick phone.

I don't know that. But I saw it in OP7 Pro thread. A guy was thinking about to flash a rom on his op7 pro 5g. Dev said if he wipe vendor and system he will brick his phone and bootloader gets locked. But im not sure about this. Personally I never wipe system.

Hi there. Do you mean flashing image with the same built you already installed? If you do, it will wipe your phone completely. So, no brick. Just a fully wiped phone.

is there any something i need to cautious before do that? as far as i remember , in google site there is 2 kind of image, full ota image and factory image. which image can be used for locked bootloader google pixel?
sorry my english not good

I'm sorry but as far as I know, you need to unlock your bootloader before flashing those. If anything you need to be cautious of, is make sure you properly unlock your bootloader before flashing.
OTA can sideload in factory recovery. No need to unlock as far as I know. There is always a risk, anything is possible, but if you look up guides for either factory image or ota update you should be fine. If you want to wipe your userdata, you should use the factory image method.

I'm not sure how you went about rooting it originally, but if you have only flashed boot.img and nothing else. Then yes that is how I would go about doing it on my phone, if I was wanting to go back to locked bootloader. I don't see any issue with doing that after you install the stock boot.img.

Yes That sucks but we all learn from are mistakes.. Fastboot Flash this stock boot.img and then either lock bootloader or if you want to have root? have magisk patch same stock boot.img and reinstall.
P.s. I also have been able to update over ota by just restoring stock boot.img in magisk.
Incase you wanted to keep rolling out with root. If you need help.i will try to make a step by step way I did it.

Well you would fastboot the stock boot.img. but if you have never tampered with your original? And wanted root? you would have magisk patch the stock boot.img and then fastboot your.img. if you search how to root with boot.img you will find how to do it with the files above

In the top thread, you can download the global and European firmware Rom. you only need to replace your own modem file
