That is not a bootloader lock, it is FRP or Factory Reset Protection and it is working as it should... Assuming you were on the latest stock, factory ROM (January 2017 security patch), there is no working bypass and there shouldn't be either. Use the Google account credentials you had on the device when you factory reset it.

Hi guys, i hope you can help me out here.
a Friend of mine is a taxi driver and had a guest who forgot his money and paid with his Moto G 2015 8GB.
As a friend of good deals, my friend now wants his father to use this Smartphone since it offers enough for his needs.
I already set it up from the scratch, but google now wants me to login with the first account data from the previous owner, which im afraid-, we wont be able to obtain any more.
Id install Cyanogenmod without Gapps to ignore the Google Questioning, but i need to check the "Oem bootloader unlock" option, which i cant, cause i cant setup the smartphone any more.
I hope anyone of you can help me? The Phone it not stolen, so as far as it is possible, please help me!

Goto stock recovery and using vol.down+power key u will be in fast boot mode using vol down chose recovery mode and press power key to enter into stock recovery. If u see a dead android just press power key first and holding it press vol. Up then just scroll down to factory data reset and now every g account will remove. Now set it up
A factory reset will probably not help. Moto G implements the new Factory Reset Protection feature which Google did introduce with Android 5.1. This check for the password of the last Google account registered on the device will survive a factory reset.
To my knowledge there is a way to circumvent the Factory Reset Protection on some Samsung devices due to a faulty implementation by Samsung (this was in the news a few days ago).
But this will probably not help with the Moto G.
Just reflash the stock firmware and you will be good I hope
You can't do anything with stock firmware, you can't unlock bootloader. The new system protection is exactly for that purpose. If your reflash the firmware via fastboot, at first boot prompts you to login with any google account used before in the phone.
The only way to revert the locked status is login with google asociated account and wipe from the settings menu once the phone has been unlocked.
i tried the stock firmware reflash as well.
you so are telling me there is no way to get a working firmware on this phone without going actualy in the developer options and activate bootloader thingie?
i mean google did a good job on that part. Still sucks though, but thanks for the answer

Yes, you have no option. To unlock bootloader you need to turn on the oem unlock permission in settings and actually you can't enter in that setting.

When you reflash the stock firmware via fastboot it clear all data & cache. When boots with clean system it prompts again to activate the phone.
For one side is nice to see that this works... Too bad for you... I guess you already googled it right?

Hey, I have a OnePlus 3 so I have messed around a lot with my phone, today I saw a Google Pixel at sale for a pretty low price but the guy selling it says that the phone has a Google account on it from the previous owner but it doesn't have a security pattern pin or password to get into the phone, it just has swipe to unlock. He says he can't use the play store but he has downloaded apks directly and can use the phone with some limitations. My question is, I use an OnePlus 3 and in that situation I could unlock my bootloader and flash a different ROM and fully unlock it. Is that not possible on the Pixel? I can't just go into the developer settings, enable oem unlocking, boot into fastboot and unlock the bootloader and flash a different rom or factory reset it without triggering FRP? How does that work? Given the circumstances is there any way to factory reset or flash a different rom on that pixel without issues? Thanks!
Hello, the Verizon version of the Pixel has a locked bootloader and can NOT be unlocked, some people have bought a Verizon version but were lucky to get it with 7.1 which is the only version that can have the bootloader unlocked. If the Pixel is the unlocked version (Google Store) or Verizon version, it can be unlocked using different methods until it reaches the December 5th Security Patch, at that point there is only one method right now to bypass the frp for the December 5th patch - current patch.
If I understand correctly, the phone already has frp, you need to find out what version the pixel is and what security patch does it have.
The seller might of used dirty-c0ws method to install a home launcher and other apps but none of the google apps work and you can't add your google account to it until you completely remove frp.

It hasn't been reset yet, it's on 7.1.1 so I believe the security patch on it is later than December. I can't access developer options, enable oem unlocking and proceed with the steps to flash a custom ROM?
It's in May Security patch, but the phone isn't yet locked, the guy selling it has access to the phone, he just can't remove the Google account. Is there no way to enable OEM unlocking, open the bootloader, flash twrp and a different ROM? Does any of these steps require the Google account password? The device doesn't seem to have any pattern pin or password, just swipe up to unlock.
Your phone is in FRP state. You can use the phone with the above patch, just you can't get the Google service on it.

That's why it's such a low price. It's a bogus deal and you should just move on. Could be a lost or stolen device in which case one day it will be blacklisted and you are out of luck. Pay the extra money and buy a legit device.

Yeah I figured, I didn't pull the trigger on it. I'll stick with my loyal oneplus 3. Thanks for the heads up tho
Okay so I got this Honor 6x running on Nougat BLN-L22 (Indian version) and I forgot my PIN. Now I looked up on youtube and found a few videos where you can recover/reset your password using google account circumventing the hard reset option.
But it turns out that my lock screen doesn't have any such option.
Can someone please help? Is this bug or something?

Because it ask for a new setup with email account, fp, pin etc aftwr reset.
Rommco05 said:
Ok so phone after reset don't remember fp, pin etc... if somebody steall your phone can easily make factory reset... I think for this is FRP lock, because if u put another sim to phone and another email adress, phone/google remember which email was before on phone and will send you sms or email with verification code on adress which was on phone before

Havent tested with any other email or sim so may be if I insert a new one, it may ask for FP or PIN.
Is it safe to unlock bootloader or will unlocking bootloader cause google factory reset protection to ask for credentials of the phones previous user?

Yes, unlocking bootloader will wipe your data the same as a factory reset, which will trigger FRP and require the original Google account login info.
Go to system settings>accounts and remove the Google account that is on the device, then you shouldn't have an issue with FRP.

I have been root and flash kernel my pixel 3 before, but I want use google pay, so I flash factory img to my pixel 3.
But i use google pay it is still doesn't working. Is cause i root before?
Have you re-locked the bootloader? An unlocked bootloader will cause Google Pay to not work on stock firmware.

Is it a good practice to relock the bootloader after root? I though it will reenable signature checks and brick the phone?

If you flashed the factory image you're stock and not rooted, right? But yes you shouldn't lock the bootloader again after modifications. You can relock it after flashing factory image from google though if you fon't flash anything else and don't modify it. That's also the only way to get google pay to work without root and Magisk hide.
Also, as long as you don't untick "enable oem unlocking" in developper settings, you can still unlock if it bricks, as long as you have fastboot access. So if you happened to brick by relocking, just unlocking again (and flashing if needed) would solve it anyway.

Thanks man, I'm thinking i have to re lock my phone now, or just wait new magisk can hide google pay.
Awesome how google sells a phone that is unlockable and easily rootable, but then blocks a service to the device. Luckily, where I am google pay is not an option, but I sympathize with you all.

There is a ton of information on the Magisk page about running Google Pay on an unlocked/rooted device. I use it on both a Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Locking your bootloader is not necessary right now.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-google-pay-gms-17-1-22-pie-t3929950
this works.
Followed instructions and edited db and rebooted. Works great in Android 10 on Pixel 3. Thanks for this. I was wondering why wouldn't work on my new phone. So dumb to lock this down.
