flashing stock rom for blissmallow? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i'm pretty new to flashing roms so sorry if this is a stupid question but i couldn't find the answers somewhere else
I'm trying to install blissmallow (unless someone sais another would be better, i don't know much about 3/4 different roms i found for it) on my P5110 tablet, it worked but i had no sound. In that thread i found that you need to first have the stock rom flashed on it and tehn blissmallow for it to work.
I found this thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704668) with stock roms but there are alot of listings and versions for the P5110, is there a specific one i need or can i use any version for this to work? Some also have a kernel download link, what is that for? does that also need flashing (and if so before/after)?
When flashing with stock can i flash this from TWRP one after the other (stock rom, blissmallow and gapps in one go)?
any help would be much apreceated

Why flash outdated roms when you can find newer roms in he unified section? You can find LOS 13, Slim 6, Resurrection Remix, and more roms which have updated security patches. Roms in the unified section are both compatible with the 7 inch and 10 inch models
To flash stock, you need odin, and your rom. Youcan find them on updato or sammobile. Select your region and flash that to your tab
P.S. most roms dont need you to flash stock first. You just need to wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik then flash the zip along wih your gapps.

thanks for the info, i tried blissrom because it seemed good, i'm pretty new to it and didn't realize it is outdated. Thanks for pointing that out, i'll take a look at the others you mentioned

no need to flash a stock rom, because you are on stock. stock rom means the original samsung firmware.

[Completed] How to install a custom kernel

Well im a newb how do i install a custom kernel without losing files cuz i wanna install a rom that was a cm 11 port
Hi,
You flash roms and kernels from a custom recovery, like twrp or CWM. Also, there's usually instructions for flashing in most rom and kernel threads.
I can't direct you anywhere without knowing your device make and model number.
Though I've answered your questions. ?
Good luck!

[Q] about kernels of moto g [CM12]

i am not overly familiar with many things regarding different kernels and how to work with them, so i was wishing a few questions that i had could be clarified by someone who knows:
1. when a kernel is flashed? i mean except for the times when we flash kernel.zips via recovery, is it flashed whenever we install a custom rom? or is it flashed with bootloaders when we flash firmware?
2. I am using CM12 official nightly and facing camera frizz issues. I came across a post in the official CM12 thread where they said flashing a modified kernel supposedly fixed this problem. Now my question is, after flashing a custom kernel, is there any way to go back to the stock one? by stock i mean either the one i was on right before flashing the custom kernel or stock moto g kernel provided by motorola?
that also begets the question, can kernels be backed up like roms using recovery?

1. The kernel is first flashed when you install a ROM. You are supposed to flash a custom kernel after flashing a ROM otherwise the rom zip will overwrite it. It doesn't matter if you install it in the recovery or the boot loader.
2. To go back to the stock kernel just take it from the zip of the ROM and flash in the bootloader
where can i find the kernel inside the rom zip?
and if i want the stock motorola kernel that comes with factory firmwares
how can i collect that?
A ROM.zip contains the system folder and a boot.img
The kernel is in the boot.img
So if u flash a different kernel and still facing problems then flash the ROM again.

flashing only the boot.img of a rom wont bring back the default kernel?
and is there any way to make a flashable zip of a kernel from that particualr boot.img?cause all the kernels i see (like donkey kang/customized cm12 kernel) there are all distributed in .zip format.....

nandroids, firmware & multiROM - Reqst clarification please!

Multi part question here which, in my mind, are somewhat related.. I've read up on many posts but these questions I still am not totally clear on and would rather not risk bricking trying to experiment....
#1) When a nandroid is taken on a particular firmware (say 4.4.4) and then after upgrading firmware to a different firmware (say 5.0.2) and I encounter a problem where there is no OS left after wiping and failing to install a custom ROM (TWRP will report: no OS installed! are you sure you want to reboot?), can I flash restore the 4.4.4 nandroid and be ok or will I brick because of bootloader incompatibility [I come from motorola phones recently - this is my first HTC]?
#2) When adding additional ROMs to multiROM do the ROMs have to be of the same firmware version? Moreover, can multiROM have a sense ROM as it's primary ROM and a GPE ROM as a secondary ROM and vice versa?
( FYI - as of this posting I still have yet to successfully boot my secondary ROM using multiROM - I can successfully install mod'd TWRP, the manager, and the patched kernel but something is eluding me - anyone with a link to a very simplified and step by step procedure on installing mulitRoom would be appreciated. I thought I had enough understanding [of the procedures I could find anyways] but apparently not, as I obviously can not get secondary Rom to boot.) I'm able to add the ROM in TWRP but when I reboot, the ROM is not listed after pressing cancel and going to the multiROM boot screen, there is simply nothing there.
#3) Re: multirom - When I reboot into the mod'd TWRP recovery and flash gapps (or any zip file for that matter) how do I know which ROM the zip is being applied to (ie: primary or secondary)?
Feel free to answer as many or as few of the questions as I know it is a lot. Thanks in advance!

You won't brick it.. softbrick/bootloop maybe.. but it's easy enough just to keep a copy of the different firmware zips to flash before restoring that version nandroid.

Much oblige! I assume then what to do would be to NOT reboot to system but to BOOTLOADER and fastboot flash the zip? or would I flash the firmware from TWRP (I thought firmware had to be fastbootRUU flashed)?
thx again

need advice with flashing rom

Hey, so I installed newest oxygenOS 2.1.4 for oneplus one which cames with its own recovery...I want to go back to cm12.1, don't have backup so I want clean and fresh installation. Now I am not sure what is the best method to do it without problems or bricking my phone, alot of people are bricking their phones when reverting back to cm12.1.
I want to know few things and can't find it on web, can I flash TWRP recovery without problems? Saw posts where people get into bootloops when doing this. Should I download fastboot zips and install it via adb or flashable zips and install it with recovery. If I choose flashable zip than I need to download kernel and modem also right? Or if I choose fastboot zips and don't install TWRP, would there be any problems because right now I see oneplus logo when I am in fastboot so I assume its their version and people said its buggy and flashing ROM with it is like playing russian roulette.
This is so confusing to me and I can't find those answers in flashing guides.
I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541 to go back to 12.1 than installed custom ROM

CWM for N8010

I am trying to install one of the newer android os on my samsung note N8010. I need to have the CWM for N8010 to continue. I looked in the forum and the links that I have found so far are not working.
Could someone help me with a good working link for CWM for N8010 please?
You can use Philz Recovery Or TWRP Recovery from the forum .
But judged by your other posts i really don't know what you are trying to achieve .
Stock firmware or a custom rom .
As said stock on sammobile custom roms no longer much development or support and many links dead .
Thanks for the reply. I am trying to install an upgraded OS on my tablet. Found some links and they are dead. Then one link said first do the CWM. So I am looking for working links to download that.
I have never done this before. So trying to learn at the same time.
Sorry do you mean a custom rom ??
Yes, to install the latest custom ROM.
