Hello,
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus at a nice price. I know that I can't use it as a phone as sim card won't work, but is it possible to reinstall the original android so I can use it as a tablet?
If it's possible, can you please link me to some guides or something?
Thank you

Any idea if there is any chance for me to use it as a normal phone? I've read that some of them may have that antenna connector and SIM may work after you re-install the samsung stock android.
who would sell a demo unit already, you steal it :silly: lol

there is no way to make it a fully functional phone because you don't have IMEI allocated to your phone...
Try this

Gonna try it. I still wonder if the sim card will work, as ive read that most of the demo units dont have sim slots. Mine has sim slot and everything else is working inclusing fingerprint
Thread cleaned. Tampering of IMEI is strictly against the Forum Rules. Please don't bring that discussion here on XDA.

I found a stock Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. In the "About Device" section, it says the model is SCH-I535. I'm extremely new to android and rooting, etc. This is my first android phone.
If possible, how can I unlock this phone to use for T-Mobile USA? Also, if it does unlock, will I get 4G data speed on the phone?
Thank you,
Jason

its not going to work properly on t-mobile...yet I should say.
fyi check my guide in the dev section...section 7 directory, should be a link to unlocking device for gsm capability.
How about attempt to get it back to its owner?
OK, first off the carrier will never give you the owner information. Second, other than calling the number in about phone there is no other way to get it to the previous owner. You can try calling the most recent dialed to try and get it back to the owner but if they already claimed it as lost on their insurance there is no going back. They do not stop the claim.. Third, I will not tolerate abuse on my forums.

Hi xda, it's been a while since I've been here and looking around has me scratching my head a little.
Anyway I have just purchased a galaxy s6 from eBay foolishly thinking it would be easy to remove the simlock but after a little reading I'm beginning to think I may have made a mistake. I'm not sure what network the phone is locked to as I have not yet received it and the listing states in the title O2 but the description says Vodafone, all I know is the model begins G920F. I thought maybe rooting and flashing a stock firmware would remove the simlock but after reading it looks like this is not the case. I then read also about "tripping knox" which sounds like something I don't want to be doing.
Root is probably something I will be looking to do in the future but not essential right now but I would be very grateful if somebody could tell me the best way to go about putting my virgin sim in this phone.
Please help
Thanks Peter.
I thought the 920F is the facotry unlocked international version so any sim would work.
When are you receiving this? Where are you trying to make this work.

Most European providers don't simlock, so you will most likely just have a provider rom, they are easy to replace with a generic stock rom
He is sending the phone out first class tomorrow so I'll report back after I have received it. I'll be using it in the UK, hopefully I'll get lucky and just be able to use it as soon as I get it. Thanks for the replies people.
Try buying an unlock code from one of the many reputable online unlockers.
I am also in the same boat. I bought samsung galaxy s6 sm-g920f model from malaysia and now when I insert indian sim its say its locked and asking for unlock code. I am just worried now. i am thinking if i can flash stock indian firmware sm-g920i to realease the lock.

Well I received the phone today and it seems I don't have to worry about the simlock as it's a bloody counterfeit!!! Grrrrrrrrrr, in the middle of a dispute atm but hopefully I'll receive a refund. Anybody that wants to help please see this thread...

OH... I really very sorry to hear this .
Does anyone know where I could get a download of the Live Demo Unit G955XU firmware for the Galaxy S8 Plus? I bought one from a retailer on ebay and I flashed it with the wrong Rom. I'd like to reflash it back as I did not make a backup.

Firmware for a DEMO-unit is NOT AVAILABLE (only Samsung has these)
DEMO-units are not sold either by Samsung, which was told you already in your "other thread"!
Return this device to Samsung or to the seller you bought it from, and request your money back (it must be a STOLEN device!)
You won't get this device working!
Thread closed.
Demo units arent sold by Samsung obviously. Please refrain from making such threads.

Hello, my friend has a Samsung S8+ that was taken out as a contract phone and then he cancelled the direct debit... the phone has now been cut off. Is it possible to just flash a new firmware to the phone and have it work as it should? If so could someone please point me in the right direction? I have unlocked phones before and guessed it should be something similar. Many thanks for any help
Will pay for fix
I am willing to pay anyone who can help me fix this phone.

I have the same problem because I bought a second hand phone and got scammed. IMEI got blocked after a month or so, so no. You can not unlock it because the Provider blocked the IMEI of your device and you can not change it no matter what.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.

First, you probably need to identify if your network is a CDMA network or a GSM network, the Verizon devices are CDMA. Try finding a S7 Edge firmware for your region/carrier, then try flashing that. Do some research and make sure that there are significant differences between the model number that you actually have and the model number of the firmware that you attempt to use, you might cause a brick if you aren't careful.
