Changing CSC without root - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Is it possible to change CSC with the end result being unrooted? By this I mean if it requires me to root in order to change CSC that is okay, but then can I unroot while keeping the CSC I changed to? The reason I ask is because I want to be able to use banking and other apps (I've read that root prevents these apps from working) but at the same time I want to have wifi calling and voLTE for my carrier.

Right, without root, all you need to do, visit sammobile and download then flash the compatible image from the carrier you want to switch to. However, be aware, of hardware limitations i.e.) you cannot flash a snapdgragon fw on a exynos phone for example.
Now if you had root on the other hand, you can do this in a matter of mins and not loose any files.

I wanted to use a CSC that allows AT&T wifi calling and voLTE. This thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ility-flashable-csc-selection-v1-0-0-t3605264 shows that it is possible to flash USA Multi-CSC using TWRP and root, which includes AT&T. So is it possible to have this CSC on the G955F while being unrooted? If it requires me to root and then unroot in order to change the CSC, I would be okay with that too as long as the CSC stays.
Based on what you said, I'm assuming the answer is no because the AT&T variant is the snapdragon variant, so I'm guessing that means the CSC wouldn't be supported in exynos unless flashed via root and then remaining rooted. Correct?

if you have Exynos phone you got root as an option

Right, but the problem is that with root I won't have access to banking and other apps. So I was hoping maybe I'd be able to root, flash the CSC, then unroot and find a way to keep the CSC. Basically, on exynos, I want to be able to have the AT&T CSC and banking apps at the same time.

i have the 955FD with an ATT CSC and Wifi calling isn't working and i can't visually tell if VoLTE is working. next step is to get an ATT imei assigned to my number to see if that fixes it. bottom line, changing to ATT CSC is not guaranteed to get the aforementioned services working on your 955F.

Root it , fix it and get voLTE then use hideroot to hide root on that banking apps .

What do you mean with "Factory Imei"? It's a menu or something? In phone dialer that code doesn't work...

Same question here what does "Factory Imei"? It's a menu or something?
Also in step 3 assuming you have to put the CSC of the new CSC area you want. Also usually you flash CSC and not HOME_CSC. In this case it is reverse, any reason why ?

i have same objective as yours, i have SM-G9550 which is hongkong variant (non-root) and it is snap with 6gb pf ram and 128gb of rom. I want to change CSC to Thailand (THL) to use VOLTE and VOWIFI. But problem is Thai variant is EXYNOS paired with 4gb of ram and 64gb of rom. So is there anyway to work this without root as i need to use Knox and samsung pay so root will deatroy it correct?

You could try from the phone dialer: *#243203855# that's to change CSC, keep in mind it will reset your phone so make a backup first. The screenshot shows CSC for Canada since I'm in Canada.

You can change the CSC region successfully using @ngominh's method.
But you have to find "The Combination" file for your phone to do it and that
is usually a "Paid" firmware which is different than your normal stock firmware!
You find that and you can change the CSC successfully!

To change csc if you are on multi firmware
Type *#272*IMEI#
It will show list of available csc
Then choose the csc you want
It will factory reset device
Back up all files and try

Finally working method for enabling VoLTE on S7 Edge on latest BTU firmware (no root)

Hello Guys. I've been playing around with all available nougat firmwares to get volte working. I succeded using latest BTU firmware and beta 1 files.
I'm not responsible for any issues with phone after using this tutorial. Use at your own risk.
With this configuration Shealth doesn't work. It says device has been compromised. Knox is not tripped but probably the cause is a mix of firmware files from different builds. I am looking for a fix but for now you have to sacrifice Shealth if you want VoLTE working on BTU firmware. Flashing full BTU firmware back is restoring Shealth functionality.
UPDATE - After flashing back DQB3 bootloader VoLTE stays and Shealth start working So flash DQB3 bootloader and DQB1 cp file at the very end to get everything working!!
This tutorial is temporary solution until branded operator firmwares will be released.
So what we need:
Official latest nougat full firmware - DQB3 at the moment
Beta 1 BL, CP, CSC files
Odin
Samfirm
To get VoLTE working follow these steps:
Enable oem unlock so you can use odin to flash firmwares (oem unlock is in developer options - enable them tapping About device/software info/Build number few times).
Flash full latest Nougat BTU firmware - (available on samfirm)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After flashing completed, skip all configuration because phone will be factory resetted again when you flash beta files. Now flash Nougat beta BL, CP, CSC which are available here: Beta files
After flashing configure phone as normal (i skipped restore settings in samsung cloud just in case of something overwritten).
Flash back Stock Nougat DQB3 bootloader.
Enjoy working VoLTE on latest BTU firmware
If I helped you, click thanks button
Thanks I'm doing this later.
If I'm already running on DBQ3 do I need to do the first bit?
thanks bro.... turkey s7 edge developers
VoLTE being enabled is in the CSC file only
There is no need to do this double flashing technique.
Stock Nougat BL
Stock Nougat AP
Stock Nougat CP
BETA 1 CSC
One time flash, finished

Strange, flashing Nougat files + BETA 1 CSC once has worked for other people in the EE thread. It is well known that all the code needed to enable VoLTE and WiFi calling sits in the CSC file, hence why most guides suggest you flash all 4 files in ODIN but use the CSC file of your choice for carrier settings. If the user is rooted, simply extracting the CSC folders from the CSC image and dropping it into /system is enough and doesn't require any specific ODIN flashed bootloader or modem file.
Mixing different system image and bootloader files isn't really recommended

Like I said before, of course it would. VoLTE does not depend on the modem or the bootloader.
ALL of the code enabling VoLTE is in the CSC file
I have followed instructions on post 1 on my s7 edge dual sim on 3UK but still not getting Volte - can anyone help?
It is hard to say why you not getting it. Solution worked in my case but im on EE uk. I tried hard and no other solution worked for me.
Did you flash full dqb3 rom first? And then those 3 files?
Flashed from MM to Nougat, with original BTU file from sammobile and VoLTE worked in an instant.
so i think it the depends on where you live

[Help] Changing Service Provider SW

Hey guys, I bought my s8+ 955FD in Thailand, and no matter what I flash the initial language is always Thai, the Google Playstore is always set to Thailand, what I realised is that the Service provider SW ver in software information is always set TH/TH/TH, is there any way to change this?
Yes there is. Find a CSC package which contains the country language you wish. Make sure the CSC package is for the same version of your overall phone, which if stock may be a 950F, or what ever. flash the CSC with Odin. Do not use the Home CSC from the package, as what will leave your CSC as TH. Some folks have talked about with new phones you need to get a SIM card from the local where the phone was 'meant' to be used, and use if for 5 minutes, so that will effect the 'unlock' ability to be used for other regions. Check into that, as well.
If you decide to change the overall software on the phone, 'F' packages seem to work pretty well. If you do decide to flash an F ROM, you also need to flash an 'F' CSC (multi) package, where you can select the country you wish and the carrier from the install dialogue.
Often the preferred installer for custom ROMS seems to be Aroma, as it is a very flexible installer for ROMs and about anything you can think of to add onto or into a ROM can be incorporated into the Aroma installer.
If you are not going to use a custom ROM, then you will flash a CSC package from Odin, but again, first check to see if you must use your phone for 5 minutes from the SIM local.

I have flashed multiple stock roms with their respective CSC and it does not work that was my question
Have you used the phone for 5 minutes within the originating region?
"Some folks have talked about with new phones you need to get a SIM card from the local where the phone was 'meant' to be used, and use if for 5 minutes" . . . in order to functionally unlock it for out of the region use. Is your software that version?
When you flash the phone, what SIM is inside the phone before the reboot?
Are you rooted? If so flash via TWRP and a CSC which has an Aroma installer.
What else can you tell us about the specifics of your phone?
If you re-flash the OEM firmware, or when your first setup new, do you get any language options on the start setup page, besides Thai?

Dear Jeff, thank you for the help and the follow-up. I have managed to change it partially by inserting a new SIM from the new country(Brazil) and when I did so, it asked me for a reset and I went through with it, now it's ZTO/ZTO/THL ---- so the first two changed to Brazilian CSC but the third one is still THL, any thoughts? what's the difference between the 3? And yes I had used it for a lot longer than 5 minutes when I was in Thailand. I just want to get a clean install without any remnants from THL - I am currently on CRAP/CRB7 - Waiting the 7 needed days to get OEM unlock and be able to flash TWRP(from what I understood), please tell me what to do to get rid of the THL from my phone completely. Thank you So much
Once rooted, find a multi-CSC package with your country and flash it (again). You might need to flash the baseband, so I'd look into that, as well.
On an S7 from with a Chinese CSC, once I found a custom ROM, , I flashed TWRP in Odin, booted into TWRP/recovery, flashed the custom ROM, verity and SU, and then flashed a multi-CSC package Aroma package, mine lost all the Chinese info.
Sure would be great if these phone companies would just give us unlocked phones, with straight forward methods to make these simple changes. I think most folks would pay a little extra for the ability.
Hi Louayd. Did you fix this issue?
I'm passing the same problem with S9+. I bought in Portugal and trying to use in Brazil. I can't root phone because my intention is use the Samsung Pay and it with rooted phone it doesn't work.
I am facing the same issue. I bought Note9 from Singapore from M1 Operator. I have flashed different countries ROMs but my phone always keep some bloatware from M1 Singapore and the "Service Provider SW Ver" always show MM1/MM1,MM1/XSP despite whatever country/region Stock ROM I flashed. My phone is already OEM Unlocked.
Need support if anyone has managed to change it.
I do not have Original Country SIM to test as mentioned above. I bought it from Singapore and wanted to use it in Cambodia. Right now VoLTE functionality is not working.
I tried to use ShortcutMaster app also but it is also not able to show anything under IMS Service and Settings.
Regards,
Can i flash csc of samsung a750f on a750gn??
Basically i need call recording which is not supported in 750gn , but available in 750f..

Question CSC change S21 Plus

I just upgraded from a S10 Plus to a new S21 Plus , Sdcard fiasco apart is a great phone..
My question is regarding changing the csc on the phone , with my old phone if you flashed a rom ( with CSC not home_csc) or factory reset and introduced a SIM card it will take the CSC according the SIM card and network... for example if the phone was TPA/TPA/PCW and i flashed a rom or do a factory reset with a spanish ( Spain) SIM i would get a PHE/PHE/PCW , it was like that every time
Is not like that with my S21 plus , the CSC on my phone is GTO/GTO,GTO/GTO (dual SIM) I flashed an OXM firmware ( latest march) and introduced a Panama SIM (TPA) i was expecting a change to TPA/TPA,TPA/GTO but it did not change stayed with GTO/GTO,GTO/GTO , tried couple times , factory reset from Android , from recovery , no luck.
What changed?? I am doing something wrong

Hello. is that a mistake ?Lock oem ? or you meant unlock oem ? I am trying to unlock my S21plus SM-G9960 ):
Yes Just Lock OEM for first clean flash after changing code in these files. Then after u skip init setup (data on by whole proces dont need add Google or samsung account) ur phone will be registered with new CSC in ota updates. Then no matter what u do and what you flash in odin new CSC stay
P.S There is no problem with OEM Lock after rootimg phone ive locked OEM for daily use.

Q2) after that i should lock the oem . thats mean shutdow, and go to DOwnload mode, long press volume up and lock the OEM from there ? because in dev I cannot see any way to lock the oem.
Please advise
Thanks

Sorry mate, Just add ur Google account and samsung install Google. Play updates reboot then OEM Lock should be get rid of Grey. You need add account to made frp Lock on.
Meanwhile check ur kg state in odin should be checking. Not broken!! If broken wipe phone without any account on it and flash Stock firmware check kg state shoud be checking. Kg state checking means that you can Lock OEM magisked phone. Dont worry u can always fix broken state if u see it
Ah if u see Grey OEM Lock that means u need add Google account and samsung for sure and your OEM Lock is checking So its fine i suppose . If kg state is broken u should not see OEM Lock option am i right XD? Kg state can be broken when u wipe data via recovery while Google account is addedo. So i bet ur kg state is checking now u need only add accounts and try reboot maybe a while too. Sorry i smoke a lot of weed xddd
Conider that you do e everything ok when your Phone is rooted with magisk safety net looks like this, and you Lock your OEM So half baked protection of frp still working. You can do this all with kg state

Hi
Once you root there is no way back....
Samkey offer a pay service to change your csc... no need to root but there is the need to pay
Just re read your post.....changing your CSC will not unlock ( carrier lock , sim lock) from the operator....

Question FirstNet Unlocked Guide

Converting your Unlocked device over to FirstNet firmware requires Patched Odin you need the v3.14.1 Patched version. You will also need the newest TMB (universal) carrier firmware, links below. Extract the zip when the download completes. You will not lose any data or factory reset during this process. You will need an ATT sim card.
S22
S22 Plus
S22 Ultra
Take your current S22 running the unlocked U1 firmware (don't skip this step, only U1 firmware can make the change to the ATT - CSC) and insert an ATT sim it has to be ATT not your FN Sim. If you don't have one you can try your local ATT store with a FirstNet rep and explain that you just need an unactivated ATT sim. If they give you any trouble, WalMart sells prepaid ones for $10.
Insert the ATT sim, you will get a pop-up explaining that the phone needs to restart to apply ATT settings. Let it restart. Once your phone is up and running, power it down.
Open Patched Odin and load up all the respective files from the folder you downloaded. Use BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC (using the other CSC will factory reset and revert to XAA firmware.) now put your phone in download mode (boot up while holding power + vol up + vol down.) Once in download mode connect the phone via USB to your computer. Once Patched Odin recognizes the phone go ahead and flash. Your phone will reboot with an ATT logo. You can now swap back to the FN Sim.
Now you have a FirstNet S22.
For anyone wondering this method currently works on the SM-F936U1 (unlocked Fold 4).
You can activate the ATT CSC by using samfw's frp tool and just changing CSC to ATT.

I was just thinking if this was possible. I just found out about SanFw's frp Tool. I was thinking of going back to U1 firmware and then use the tool to just change CSC to ATT

If you do this can you post here if it works or not? I want to go back to firstnet when i return to the us and this would make it easy.
I wonder if just changing the csc will remove the unlocked firmware features like the built in caller id and spam blocker. Anyone know?

I used SamFw Tool to change the CSC but after restart, the phone forces a restart and reverts back to XAA when i put in the FirstNet Sim. Any idea on how to get the CSC to stay?
This is what is is going back too.

Dont have an answer for you but when you go to SIM card status and are not connected to wifi does it show the IMS registration status as registered? If so it might be working.

can confirm this works for firstnet on s23 ultra. SM-S918U1.
Wifi calling, visual voice mail, volte, and real 5g+ all working after home csc update.
Just make sure firstnet account is provisioned for the features, it's free just call them. Don't listen to their support "techs" tell you a u1 phone won't work with features, it will. FYI prior to update u1 is stuck on lte and can't use 5g/5g+ even if it says it's connected.

Question Is there a way to change CSC on my USA model?

Hi! I have an A53. Having waited for any exploit root wise for the USA models, I've started looking at other alternative ways to get there.
I know the biggest hang up is that on USA models the "Unlock OEM Bootloader" option is not present in the Developer Options.
With there being /some/ exploits and things you can do to the device prior to having root access, I was wondering if there is any feasible way to load something like a UK firmware on to my device to then provide me with the "Unlock OEM Bootloader" option-
I attempted changing the CSC with the SamFW tool 4.0, and though it claimed to have changed the CSC to BTE (From XAA) it still did not let me load up a BTE firmware in ODIN.
Is there any way whatsoever to cheat this mess of unrootability?
Please let me know any ideas you have!
Thank you!

There are no solutions currently
Unless the device model contains an MTK processor
if your device is SM-A536U with SamFW tool 4.0 you can only change your original CSC with one of the OYN multi CSC firmware ( stored in prism or and optic firmware )

How about the SM-S536DL; Straight Talk/Tracfone variant? I've SIM-unlocked it but would like to flash U radio bands. Not getting bands 41 or 71 so no 5G on T-Mobile. There used to be a time where you could enter codes in the dialer to access hidden menus to select radio bands, but long patched I guess.
@mewcatchewyou can try to change your CSC to TFO ( with T mobile préconfiguration )

Do I just flash the CSC?
Simple Mobile is owned by Verizon now (acquired all of Tracfone) but hopefully still using T-Mobile.
EDIT: I flashed the CSC only with SamFW Tool 4.0, still says TFN, no 5G. In fact the CSC says TFN in the file, they all do whether I choose CSC "TFA", "TFV', "TFO" etc. Its all Tracfone so...?
Edit # 3: I just ended up flashing all 4 TFO files. Looks like I have 5G now. Who knew.
i don't speak about flashing CSC but only changing CSC with this tool

There's also this new thing you can try to change CSC.

Does not require root, and no idea when Samsung will patch it.

I checked it out earlier; I found options to enable 5G bands 41 & 71, also LTE band 71. But I never seen anything other than LTE bands 2, 4, 12, & 66 actually being used. After reboot, the bands selected weren't selected anymore as far as I can recall. Also, changing the CSC doesn't actually seem to change it. It's an interesting tool, but I don't think it actually does anything except making you think you did. This was with my SIM unlocked Straight Talk A53, using Mint Mobile SIM card (T-Mobile). Maybe I wasn't doing it correctly, but it was fun being able to access these hidden menus I haven't been able to for eons.
What I did do yesterday, was flash TFO firmware with Odin (my A53 is TFN) and even though my CSC still says "TFN" It says 5G on my signal bar now - I never got 5G before that. I have no idea what band, probably just trickery on Mints part. I've only ever seen LTE bands 2, 4, 12, & 66 in use in the service menu.

it's not connected to 5G, if the 5G icon is not in Bold is not connected to 5G, 5G icon not in Bold, only means that your carrier is transmitting a 5G signal that your phone can detect. I have that problem. I have the A536U1/DS, my carrier model is A536E/DS, so I have the 5G icon but not in bold, so I can't connect to my carrier 5G, and apparently the A536U1/DS cannot be converted to A536E/DS.
You can download NetMonster APP and you will see that it's not connected to 5G..
