Hello forums! After two years, my OPO has finally died. The screen cracked a few days ago so the touchscreen no longer works. However I'm keeping it on just to monitor any notification that might pop up even though I can't see them. I recently found a program called Android Control for PC that allows you to use your computer to take control of your device. It was crated by a forums user, XDA Forum Member k.janku1. I can't seem to get it to work although I have a slight feeling as to why. Could anyone help me or am I in the wrong place?

I dont know if this is the right way to ask this question, or the ringt place in the forum. I just know ive always found a lot of answers here before and now ive come to a dead end. Ive had a problem with my samsug sgh-i780 for atleast six months that i cant fix. I try to every once in a while, but just end up extremely frustrated and agitated. So, this time the same thing happend again, but i am willing to try and do something productive instead and vent my anger and problem here instead
The problem with the phone is that it refuses to connect to the internet. But only specific programs on the phone. Most of them connects perfectly, both via GPRS and WIFI. The problem is the programs that are from microsoft. They all promply refuse to acknowledge any connection whatsover to the internet.
I use WM 6.1, its not the shipped OS but i've updated it with samsungs official updating rom. So, the programs that refuses are IE, windows marketplace, windows update, the built-in podcasts and rss-reader program, maybe some others.
However, these programs COMPLETELY REFUSES to connect. Almost INSTANTY an alert window with "no connection avaliable. please change your settings or try again." or something similar pops up. Immedietly. Extremely provocing to me, since I know theres both a working gprs and wi-fi connection that ALL the other programs (opera (3 different versions)), coreplayer, etc can use, and do USE flawlessly all of the time. Gah, even writing about it drives me crazy
So anyways. Ive googled this thoroughly on SEVERAL occasions, ive gone through every single internet setting i've found on this mobile phone and changed it back and forth on several occasions, ive searched and searched this forum several times but ive ended up with nothing to guide me in troubleshooting/fixing this and i feel like my next step is throwing it into the wall. Wich wouldnt really SOLVE the problem... but atleast eradicate it
Long post, my bad, ill try and keep it shorter. Just wanted to write it all out, maybe im leaving out important info, feel free to ask me complete your picture if this with whatever you need to know. Maybe someone of you recognizes this problem immedietly and knows what it is and how to fix it. Any way, im happy to recieve any ideas and suggestions you might have.
Thank you in advance,
Malte
The best thing you can do right now is wait until i bring an SGH-780i from my workplace and go through the steps with you I'll have it by tuesday/wednesday.
(that is, because i can't really think of a reason for this to happen unless microsoft has found a way to block unofficial roms from using their applcations (doubtful)).
Awesome! I like the timing of yours; tuesday is my birthday
Will be waiting

I am using an HTC Vivid on AT&T that is NOT ROOTED, I fell on my phone and now my screen comes up black (think I broke the LCD). I can still receive calls and I believe messages as my green message light blinks. I need to know if there is a product that will let me view/control the android phone screen on my PC without having to install anything on the phone itself as I can't see anything on the screen so I can backup my SMS messages, apps, etc... before moving to my new phone. Most of the threads I have read point to solutions for ROOTED phones which don't help me.
thanks!
Probably (but probably not worth the trouble)

So if you connect the phone by usb, it's probably asking you if you want to allow it to be mounted on the PC, but you have no way to answer, right? Similarly, no way to get it into adb mode. So those are out.
Even with the screen dead, you should be able to get the phone into fastboot mode (check the forums for the Vivid to find out how, probably involves holding the volume buttons for a while while you reboot). If you then install fastboot on your pc, you should be able to download the whole content of the ROM. Then with some reasonable effort, you should be able to untangle everything and read your messages. It can probably be done under windows, but would be a hell of a lot easier under linux, and it will require linux/android skills/understanding (even under windows). Even with those skills, it's probably going to take a day or so. Without them, far longer (or you could hire a CS student with the right skills for a day, I guess). And on the other hand, if your phone was synched, you're probably going to get a fair bit of it back when you connect the new phone. So is it worth the effort?
Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, should help you to deal with this special situation.
It works on non-rooted devices, basically what you can do is to install the apk from USB connection, and run our desktop program, VMLite Android App Controller to start and stop the app.
This way, you should be able to control and view your phone from a pc.

Hi folks, I know what i'm doing, so I flashed the images and it all worked...BUT some major things are missing. I cant drop down the notification drawer (nor do I get any notifications) Also, nothing Google syncs. I tried manually syncing/logging out and logging back in and nothing seems to work, so 1) Suggestions? 2) Is there a dedicated forum for this? I cant seem to find anything online. I also tried flashing it again and to no avail.
Help me XDA, you're my only hope to not going mad on my phone.

Try downloading the image again and use the back ports, the ones directly connected to the motherboard. If you can't fix it and/or find an answer anywhere, remember that android M is beta; report it to the android developers and wait.
Just some personal history on this kind of occurrence (tl;dr some times the same hardware can behave differently on the same conditions):
My brother and I had once the same phone, the LG Optimus 2X. We bought the same phone, at the same store, on the same day, a promotion; quite the upgrade from my motorola milestone (droid). His would always have problems with custom roms that mine never did, some times was the other way around, but the developers fixed over time given the pertinent logs. It also happened Installing mac on my assembled pc, I got to have problems other people with the exact same hardware configuration never did and I didn't had problems that other people had.

Thats a great idea! I'm using a laptop so I will change ports. Does it make a difference when it says that ...exceeded maximum size... or what ever it said, id that normal? Update should be out this week I think as well!
I need help with a hacked possibly hidden root phone attack & i really don't know muc
I felt my phone was 'hacked', it was echoing during calls, getting really hot, passwords & secret questions on my emails were being changed, FB password changed & picture login disabled etc. etc. I BELIEVE my device Samsung J1mini is rooted HOWEVER somehow hidden cas most apps say it's not rooted but I found a hidden /root file & Superuser was only to be granted access with 'android.permissions', ok explaining it best I can. I also have PC Acer Laptop. USB ports disabled won't charge my phone. ESET picked up a virus but it disappeared b4 I could press Y to delete. Renamed I believe. The top of windows go green when I click in them the same person said Crypto something which he explained as ransomware but I've had no demands & drive has been wiped so many times there is nothing to hold to ransom. I seriously need help. Just bought a Huawei Y9 Elite LYO-02 but it's only 4 weeks old, got a new sim with new number & EXACTLY same things are happening again. So I factory reset it (whilst off) cas a password I didn't put there prevented me from phone factory resetting it. Now I'm stuck on the gmail screen & NONE of my emails work. I've watched you tube videos on how to bypass this screen but no success yet. I asked someone I didn't know very well to help & he installed Terminux/Linux on my phone & told me it was just underneath my phone he accessed, what I now realize is he was most likely setting it up so he could remote control it from his PC or IPhone 6 & he had to install Linux. I hate liars.... now wondering instead of helping he saw an opening & made the hole bigger & this guy does IT. HELP! Please be kind. I wanna boot whoever is in out & take control by rooting phone myself. And taking admin privileges back on my Acer. I am administrator but u wouldn't think so. It's running Windows 8.1.
Urgent replies please. This whole thing is doing my head in. But I'm smart & willing to learn. Someone patoent please Show Me the Light lol
Hi there and welcome to assist,
Unfortunately there is nothing about your question/device on XDA forum. Try a Google search first or contact the manufacturer for stock firmware and flashing instructions.
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
Good luck
So here's the deal. I'm very smart.. but this is not my forte.(phones) my daughter has screwed up My wife and I phone. Along with my other kids phones as well. She has a school Chromebook and somehow we started getting games installed on our phones from the playstore and some weird rogue games. Looking at the permissions they have access to everything any anything in our phones. I did a little research after probing through hidden files on her Chromebook she stays on gotcha cc. And all types of http only gaming sites. I we have to constantly turn off our camera and Bluetooth bc it turns on automatically. I found out she can access everyone's phone and has also somehow made like 2 networks on my router when she was grounded and was getting free data while her phone was off?? I can't delete this crap. Anti virus scans are useless. I noticed Android developer in her cookies and also some studio. I have this **** attached to my bootloader and no reset can remove it. We have a moto g stylus 5g (xt2131Dl) and anything I put in to remove via my computer/USB cable it instantly corrupts it. She also had a bunch of wallpaper apps that seem to migrate to our phones.calendars clocks and things have these crazy permissions. I noticed my email now is workspace..? Or work profile. Can somebody hit me up and help me get rid of this ****. Oh by the way. It's on my PC desktop now and laptop. It's like my whole phone is a virtual machine.. everybodys. I can't update past anything released in 2019 and 2020. Help!

Wow....
First I take away her phones and laptops so she couldn't interfere.
Try factory resetting start with a router then the phones,
Motorola does have a recovery program for the phones,
rescue-and-smart-assistant - Motorola
#hellomoto | Discover our new unlocked Android phones from motorola and stay informed about our offers and promotions.
www.motorola.com
Then install an antivirus like Norton or something like that and let it run,
In the case of the laptops I pulled and trashed the hard drives get new ones and default the BIOS before you put it all back together,
If you're using Microsoft get the installation ISO on a thumb drive if the PCS are major manufacturers like Dell, the BIOS contains the licensing key so you won't have to buy it again
Good luck if she's old enough I'd ever arrested.
Just my two cents.....
And change all your passwords once you've got a good clean PC to do it from.
Ps dont connect anything back to the internet to your done sanitizing it all.

Maddog 3030 thanks brother! Yeah it's ridiculous. Like my mind is blown completely.. i definitely confiscated the two phone/laptop. You'll never believe what happened.. she freaking signed in through Roku on her tv.. the only thing I left in her room electronically. Furious. But I'm very grateful for you response I'm definitely doing that step by step. I can't believe we have to run our phones in safe mode in my own house 24/7. I'll see if I can grab some more verbage from some of the things I find. Alot of it is encrypted copy pasted on blank notepad on the laptop. However I did see chrome://sysinternals and flags in the browser history. She had been on. I'm just lost as to how.. is it all the Google cloud developer stuff or Microsoft or azure..what else.. the Roblox/gotcha stuff which the files are being put into.. like everyday our phones have like "software" update at the top of the screen . Like no matter what I turn off it automatically turns it back on I'm thinking through Bluetooth. Hey Ive searched and searched is there any possible way to run the Microsoft tool without a PC? And only on my phone? The laptop I have is a hp and the desktop is the windows all in one 27in. Completely knocked windows defender out. Funny thing is she's never once had possession of or even used our phones before. Hadn't sent anything to us that we've opened to give it access. Sorry to make this so long lol. But I know you guys are the ones to explain this to. I've googled/duckduckgo/chat gpt/YouTube and searched hours and days for an answer. I get anything from the tct malware to the developers of multiple platforms accounts. Each have pieces that are spot on. But nothing exact. Our phones are straight talk. I've even called them. No help. Caught my attention when she was having data somehow at school and her phone wasn't even active. But the data on my wife and I phones were crazy high. The usuage from multiple apps were around 900mb each in the span of a week.. just didn't think there was any way Bluetooth had anything to do with it because of the distance from her school at the time to our home was way too far. But whatever it is it definitely calls for our Bluetooth to be turned on and our hotspot also comes on too. EVERYTIME. It's some feature of it. And also was a dead giveaway after so long of it happening. Everytime our Bluetooth , hotspot and mic access would pop on she would be in the house on her phone being sneaky.. recently when I had enough and took the electronics and discovered all this stuff on it.
