Hello,
i never had problems using Netflix on all my other phones/devices. Even if rooted (actually, all my devices are rooted).
But on my S8+, netflix starts fine, i can login, but as soon as i play a movie, i get a message (in German):
"Es ist ein Problem mit der Wiedergabe des Videos aufgetreten. Bitte versuchen Sie es erneut (5.2)"
There is a problem playing this movie 5.2.
Downloading of the movie works fine, but playing back the downloaded movie also does not work. Error:
"Es liegt ein Problem mit der Videodatei vor (102.2.6)
Problem with the video file.
I already signed out, cleaned all the storage, uninstalled, reinstalled -> same error!
Reinstalled my phone using the new stock firmware(rooted again using magisk)
Now i can't find Netflix anymore in the playstore. Already deleted data&cache for Playstore and rebooted-> now Certified
In Magisk, Safetynet is Green (OK)
Restored Netflix from Titanium backup -> can download, but playing (stream&download) still NOK.
Anyone else got this problem?

Have you tried using Netflix before rooting again?
No, but on a friend's S8+ it works fine (without root)
Btw: Does supersu root work with the S8+, or only magisk?
I had the same problem but deleting liboemcrypto.so in system/libs/ fixed it
Unfortunately, after a complete Stock reinstall without root, and Developer mode, oem unlock & usb debug disabled, Netflix is not found anymore in Playstore! Device certification is uncertified..
After Playstore Data&cache deleted, restart phone, still no netflix, but also the field "Device certification" is not there anymore. No info about certification.
ALL updates are installed.

Before, i had:
PDA G955FXXU1AQDD
CSC G955FOXM1AQDD
Is it possible to downgrade, and try again to the "older" firmware?
Sorry, don't know why, but after some times, netflix is available again in the playstore. Installed, and playback OK (without root, dev mode, oem unlock and usb debug disabled)
Now rooted again (with supersu SR3), and no netflix in playstore..... (also restore every app at the beginning did not install netflix.)
Edit:

Yup seems Netflix is now blocked for rooted users.

i had that issue 2 days ago...uncertified playstore=no netflix.
if u have a uncertied in playstore restore to stock lock oem in options again then do a full factory reset and then ull be able to get certified in playstore to find netflix in search.
now if u root again ull not be allow to download netflix from playstore i think u can still install it as normal apk.
I am stock and I have uncertified play store and I see Netflix and everything works.

This. It is count to be a new policy for them do to restrictions with there licensing for movies. It might be good to hold off on rooting it you use Netflix. It may become like Samsung Pay where it will no longer work if you are rooted. Even on magisk
Maybe related or not - but i have similair issues with Amazon Prime video and NEtflix
- I am rooted - using jeese's first twrp image
i've encountered the following:
- stream netflix video - no problem
- download netflix watch offline - not possible - error: there is a problem wit the video file 102.2.6
- watch amazon prime streaming or downloaded - not possible: error code: decryption failure
i tried removing the liboemcrypto.so script
any thoughts on how to fix
anything to do with the forced disabling of decryption during installation of twrp and rooting?
Netflix works fine on root with Magisk and MagiskSU, although I'm unsure if that extends to SuperSU. If you're just using Magisk(SU), use a root browser to delete liboemcrypto.so and it will work as another user has pointed out further up. I can confirm this worked for me at least.
Could it be detecting root with SuperSU? I had to reflash my stock boot.IMG and remove SuperSU to access another app that was blocking access because it was still detecting root. I neglected to try with Netflix with SuperSU installed but could it potentially be the culprit?

I used ES File Explorer. Give it a try if you want. When you download it, click on the hamburger (option) menu and enable an option labelled "Root Explorer". Then navigate to the file in question and delete. Fair warning, the app is a bloated ad filled turd these days. Probably better off using a better app than the current version if you plan on using it long term.
Here's why Netflix no longer works on rooted or unlocked devises. There's a way around it though.

bei mir geht netflix perfekt, habe es von einem Backup installiert und alles klappt.
on my phone (s8) netflix is working perfectly. I have restored the apk from a backup
my phone is rooted and runing the renovated ice rom
Had the same problem, now solved.
Google Play showed uncertified, even after hiding SU with magisk. After erasing Google Play data it turned certified.
Despite that, Netflix still didn't play videos (error 5.2)
Then erased liboemcrypto.so in system/lib/ using ES File Explorer (Total Commander couldn't erase it for some reason so I installed ES for 5 minutes to do the job and then unisnstalled it - too many ads).
Netflix then had some weird behaviour after that so I reinstalled it and videos now play with no problem.
I read somewhere (think it was on reddit), that netflix closed someone's account due to "illegally" watching streams using a non certified device !?

I've installed Team EOS rom on my TF101 and everything is working fine, but I'm having an issue trying to hide SuperSU so can run apps like Blinkbox and Flixster
I'm currently running SuperSu by ChainFire, but even when running OTA RootKeeper the apps are still saying the device is rooted and thus won't work.
I've seen there is SuperUser by Clockworkmod and Chainsdd, but which is the best and easiest to hide so can use the apps
Blinkbox and Flixster work fine for me and Im rooted with SuperSU Chainfire and have not changed or hidden anything
Blinkbox says my device doesn't have the requirements for video playback, but that's nothing to do with being rooted

thanks for the info,
Whenever I run Flixster it reports 'Unfortunately, we do not support streaming on your device yet. Please visit the FAQ for more details.
When I do this I get the message about not being supported on rooted devices and to run OTA RootKeeper
On Blinkbox it says 'Your tablet doesn't support the type of video playback that this app needs. You can still browse all Movies and TV Shows, mark items to watch later and make purchases'
I installed followed instructions on rooting and have TWRP installed
I then installed build 120, GAPPS, KatKernel
netflix and vevo are working fine
Are you running the SuperSU Pro?
Now just have to sort out why my SDCARD in dock is no longer working and classed as damaged, when it was fine before changing the boot animation

Im running the normal SuperSU but I have checked the Pro box at the bottom of the settings page, there is also a setting for "Full UnRoot" you can try which will remove root
In flixster I've actually only tried streaming trailers, so maybe once you log in it is not supported, never tried it
I wouldn't have thought it would be due to having root, or why that would cause any problems at all unless they know there is a way to hack the app if you have root, and subsequently disabled use if you are rooted
I've never seen an app tell me it can't run because Im rooted though

I've seen a few - Sky App, Barclays, 4OD - there are quite a lot that won't run while rooted
but i know blinkbox and flixster work on stock rom as had them working before rooting
Sky Go app is not supported on this device, doesn't say anything about root although the comments agree with you
Barclays app loads up fine, doesn't say anything about root but I'm not going to try logging in, I trust only this PC for online banking, but I can understand if they blocked it on rooted devices for security reasons
4OD loads fine, doesn't mention root, but videos are just buffering, nothing will play so far
Try the SuperSU app, and use the Unroot option to see if it fixes them

Barclays will allow you to go so far then display an error and tell you to ring a number, when you ring it they advise it's because it's on a rooted device
A lot of apps will load so far and then not work (a lot use widevine)
I tried the full unroot option and still the same, so i'm thinking it looking at busybox, so searching to see if can rename it
I've installed the clockworkmod version and same issue
got this working - moved to Android Revolution 3.6 and blinkbox works perfectly - tried flixster and had to download ota rootkeeper which enabled me to watch flixster without any issues
Since there is no sensation XE forum i'll post this one here. So i've finally managed to root my sensation xe again (/cheer). The thing is i have an app (Yelo TV, belgium tv network telenet android app) that refuses to stream recorded shows since the device is rooted. Now i've got "Hide My Root" Installed and hid the su binairy. But it still detects root access and won't stream.
So i'm asking all of ya (but primairly the rooted sensation xe, yelo tv users) have any of you managed to restore streaming on this rooted device?
oh and installed titanium backup pro too, but can't seem to figure out how to create backup for all my aps in 1 go (or is that the update.zip feature). Really don't wanna go an create a backup for the 6 dozen aps i got installed. Oh and does anyone know a good ad blocker. There used to be one in the market called AdFree or something but looks like it's gone.
go to the superuser app
navigate to the tv app and select deny for root permissions
about adblocker you can use adaway app
can't navigate to it, as it's not in the su app. It doesn't the tv app doesn't trigger a superuser root access request. The app sees on it's own that the device is rooted. Or do i need su elite for that? (currently using the non-elite app) or a different su app.
I believe the app supersu has a temp u root feature. You could try that and see if it helps you may need to full unrrot superuser first, then add supersu

A couple of days ago I found an app which is able to "hide" your root access, but it needs to be activated manually before launching the problematic app. google for it, found it on one of the top search results (it is on google play). It specifically mentions it enables using apps such as Google Video and the likes, so I guess you should try it.
@Heavy Metal: supersu, temp u root? No idea what ur on about. I sure as hell won't be losing my root over 1 app. Ill watch the stuff on TV then.
@astar: i would if you'd say the name. As i said, i have "hide my root" installed. Even if i tell it to hide the su binairy, yelo TV still detectq the root and won't stream.
Edit: tried supersu. Said the binairy needed an update. Normal installation won't work, other one requires cow or another one. Can't i push it via adb or something. Custom recovery makes it impossible for ota updates. (Not that this phone has been given any. No idea if it even will be updated to 4.1 let alone 5)

It won't get any further official updates. And as for SuperSU, just allow it to update, it will do the job. And all the updates we might need are available as custom ROMs (although without the apps you want to use).
I think I might have just got it. this app came with the phone, right? So maybe making it a "user" app would work, as it's system privileges allow it to detect root binary even if it's hidden (system apps can do whatever they want, without asking for permission). Create a backup of the whole ROM first, so you won't lose the app. Then copy it to the SD card, delete it from /system/app and then open it with a file explorer, it will install the app. It might just work.
Edit: The app I fount was exactly what you used.
supersu won't update it. its a htc phone so needs custom recovery and no. Yelo TV did not come with the phone.
anyone got the latest su binairy ? the one i have dates from 29/02/2008 and is 21.8kb in size
oh and supersu fked up my root seriously. Said it found conflicting aps and needed to uninstall them. so allowed it to do so. so it removed all updates from "system ap". Now everything that had root access no longer does and when it asks for permission it gets denied

Since you are rooted, why not installing? It's quite out of the discussion, but you should, as it only gives you benefits in the normal situation (There will be no OTAs in the future, and anyway, it allows you to backup and restore your phone should anything happens. Since you are rooted I guess you have your bootloader unlocked via HTCUnlock or S-Off.
so managed to update to latest binary and superuser version (3.1.3) according to superuser itself. Then ran SuperSU still claims a binairy update so did that one too. Then removed the outdated superuserapp from ChainsSSD
yes, i'm s-OFF (did that when back on android 2.3.4). Still doesn't fix the fact that the app won't stream. but nvm. After updating binairy and apk, Yelo now throws a different error. "failed to communicate with digicorder"
though i did find a page claiming a superuser version 3.1.4 http://nishantn3.blogspot.be/2013/04/latest-superuserapk-v31447-su-v3218.html
now where in SuperSU do i hide the root or deny root checking for yeloTV

You can not deny root checking, but you can deny root access for it. But to understand how it works, did it request root access? Try removing it from the list in SuperSU.
I said that in my first post. I doesn't even ask for root access, it just sees that the device is rooted. One of the sites i found claimed they were checking for /system/bin/su
even with SuperSU (disabled and hidden), it still detects root access (even after i killed the yeloTV process) after hiding su. Could it be because SU is running as user and not /system.
use xprivacy (xposed framework) to block su in yelo app (under shell menu), works for me!
Could you provide links to what I need and what I need to do.

As some of you will know, Samsung have no longer allowed S-Health to work on devices where Knox has been tripped.
This guide will show you how to get the latest version of S-Health to run without this block
Rooted Devices
This method requires you to be rooted. You can always unroot after doing this
If you are not rooted you can root your device by following the instructions below:
Download TWRP and save it somewhere you will remember.
Open ODIN and press AP then select the TWRP file you just downloaded.
Put your phone into Download Mode by holding Power + Volume Down + Home.
Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Then Press Start in ODIN.
Download SuperSU-v2.79-SR3 and save it to your phone's SD Card.
Power off the phone and then hold Power + Volume Up + Home to boot to TWRP.
Press Install and locate the SuperSU file you downloaded earlier. Select it and Install.
You are now rooted.
To remove root, simple open the SuperSU app from your app drawer, go to settings and select Full Unroot
Follow the steps below to remove the S-Health block.
Download a root file explorer (such as Root Explorer, Root Browser or ES File Explorer).
Open the root file explorer and go to the /system folder.
Open the file named build.prop in text editor
In the build.prop file look for ro.config.tima=1
Change this line to ro.config.tima=0, simply changing the 1 to a 0
Reboor phone
Run the S-Health app
Non-Rooted Devices
If you are not rooted and/or cannot root then you can follow the steps below to get S-Health working (this will only work if the app is not installed as a system app).
Uninstall the S-Health App (if you cannot uninstall the app, this means it is installed to the system partition. Try Method 2 below).
Install version 4 of the S-Health app which can be found HERE
Open the app and complete setup
Update the S-Health app via the app store
You should now be able to use the S-Health app without issue
You can now use S-Health even with tripped Knox!!
{Mod edit: Download links via a suspicious URL has been removed}

Should we have the device rooted? true? The only one nougat rom i have is a stock no rooted. No way to install Shealth from system/app because I´m don´t have root permissions on this folder
and how do root the device on nougat? I read in different threads that currently rooting the device leads to broken wifi and brightness-adjustment.
Can somebody provide us with a proper root guide or does a simple unroot fix these problems after installing S-Health???

Then boot to TWRP and flash SuperSU-v2.79-SR3
To unroot, open the SuperSU app and select 'Full unroot'. S-health will still work as normal.

Hello,
I have rooted my GPlay and installed TWRP.
Unfortunately my banking app detects the root and refuses to work.
I heard about Magisk which can be used to bypass this.
Can anyone tell me where to get this for my GPlay and how to install it?
I have TWRP 2.8.7.0 hw4c installed and SuperSU Free v2.68 (SuperSU-v2.68-SYSTEMMODE.zip)
Phone:
Model: CHC-U01
EMUI 4.0 Android 6
I've downloaded the Magisk App and try to install. But get this error:
Installation failed
Boot Image patched by unsupported programs
Please restore back to stock boot image
AFAIK any app, thus also banking / payment apps, can easily detect whether Android is rooted or not if they want to know this. Such a query cannot be intercepted.
I thought the app was exactly for that

A widespread misconception, thousands of times colported on the Internet as also here on XDA. The developers of banking / payments etc.pp. apps are quite certainly not as dumb as most Android modders / hackers assume.
Hello,
In order to do online banking I need to receive the TAN.
But this app won't let me even start, it opens the browser and tells me it detected root,
so I disabled root in the settings, restarted, even cleaned the cache and reinstalled but it still won't let me use it.
Do you know any ROM that supports my banking app?
Or another question: Does it even matter which TAN app I use?
I'm all new to online banking.
Maybe you can check if it works on your ROM, please let me know.
Thanks for your time in advance!
You can use the banking app with magisk. you need the "airfrozen" app and freeze the magisk app before you use the vr banking app and it will work.
This doesn't work here.
Hiding Magisk with "Airfrozen" on a rooted S8 with stock rom let VRSecureGO-App still complain of the device being jailbraked or rooted.
I froze Magisk
root checker app says device is not properly rooted
deleted all Date of VRSecureGo in Settings/Apps
VRSecure not working as described
