Go to the magisk thread and make sure you have the latest magisk v12.0 zip... also download the uninstaller zip.
Once in awhile with samsung devices you'll lose root with magisk. It helps if you boot into twrp and flash the uninstaller zip (might be best to backup first... Beware, if you try to boot phone after running the uninstaller zip, you will more than likely get bootloop...) Then without rebooting the phone, flash magisk v12 zip.
It should work. Its also good to wipe davlik every so often.

You can boot twrp without flashing and then flash root

But when i flash twrp recovery then i go to recovery and ask for password i cancel it then ask for system modifications I'm confused so i dont give permission to twrp for system modifications then i flash magisk zip then wipe cache of dalvik cache and reboot then its stuck in bootloop

You said you wanted root, you were supposed to use the process to get root not flash magisk. I thought you had a method of installing magisk after getting root. I thought you were going to boot twrp recovery, not flash it, since you said you didn't want twrp.
Unfortunately you're going to have to flash stock with OST.
Check this link for more information:

yeah now i got twrp but only come when boot from fastboot commands and i want magisk how can i get it?
did i have to first flash supersu zip from twrp then install magsik? but i want only magisk not supersu

I have never actually used magisk. I thought you had a way of installing/flashing magisk once you had root

Might I ask: what do you need magisk for?
Also in that recovery I got errors like can't Mount and some kind of encryption error and it say's I have to format data
Need magisk for root and modules as also I want all updates properly installed means i want to in stock recovery

In my opinion, only use the recovery for flashing stuff, don't mount anything other than sdcard, don't unlock. Maybe when there is a more compatible version of twrp ...

Well i don't know about the modules, but when I flashed stock firmware with OST (first time I flashed recovery my phone was stuck in twrp) then flashed root and xposed, I was still able to install updates. The stock firmware I installed was 7.0, but now i'm on the most recent update. So unless there are some specific modules that you need from magisk, I think you can stick with the regular root.
On the other hand you can continue to experiment with magisk, maybe you will find something that we don't know yet and get it working. But remember, if you want to flash anything, don't format with twrp at all, just leave everything readonly and flash
I'm not able to go to recovery by buttons. Only by fastboot command why is that?
What the hell is this i just try to go to recovery by buttons it works but I'm on stock recovery but i flashed twrp then i format data did formatting data did something to recovery? Or is it that i have to use fastboot command to go to twrp recovery? Where the hell is that recovery?

I don't know; the process of flashing recovery on HMD's nokias isn't yet fully developed, people have complained about flashing recovery but still not booting into it. Personally I would recommend that you use stock recovery and use fastboot to boot into twrp instead of actually flashing twrp whenever you want to flash anything. That way you are still able to install system update
But for installing magisk every where written that flash magisk zip from twrp but i got bootloop

Have you flashed stock firmware with OST? Can you boot normally now? If not, do that, then update ti the current android version using OTA. After that boot into twrp (whether you chose to flash twrp or just boot twrp is up to you). Do a backup then try flashing magisk again, maybe it will work this time
Yeah i already flashed stock rom with ost and already update to latest version i think magisk is not supported in Nokia 3

Hello mate, you can't root nokia 3 with Magisk. Why? Because noone never send boot img to dev! So only option to root it is Chainfire SuperUser 2.79v.
Ok brother but i have a question if i root and then remove some system apps then can I safely install updates?

Can I just Flash TWRP (already unlocked, rooted with Magisk installed)

I cannot find anything on point to this direct question (all the guides/forums seem to have you flashing/installing TWRP first then installing Magisk).
I am already unlocked and installed Magisk/rooted with Magisk SU by using the Magisk Manager method with stock recovery.
At this point can I just flash/install TWRP to have a custom recovery without issue? I ask because I want to try out J to the 4n's Active Edge plus but want to make a backup first before tinkering with it. Loved his stuff as a long HTC viper guy.
Thanks in advance.

I cannot find the specific thread (if I do find it I will update) but from what I recall you will need to flash an unpatched boot img and then flash twrp. After that you can reinstall Magisk. I know TWRP modifies the boot so that will interfere with Magisk. I hope this was helpful.

Extremely helpful! Sounds like I would boot loop the phone if I just flashed TWRP in my current configuration.
I'll uninstall magisk, reboot, then flash the stock boot.img and then follow the twrp/magisk install directions.
Much appreciated!
Here's what I did:
1) Boot twrp img file from fastboot
2) Flash the latest twrp zip in twrp. DON'T REBOOT. If you are going to use a custom kernel, you must do step 3 below. Don't later reboot and flash a custom kernel or you can run into bootloader signature issue. If you ARE NOT going to use a custom kernel, jump to step 4.
3) Flash your custom kernel.
4) Flash the latest Magisk zip to root again
5) Reboot.
Enjoy

Magisk hell resolved??!!!!!!!??!!!!!!!!!!?? fix/work around

im new at thisxda stuff but i am 90 percent sure i figured out how to keep magisk from uninstalling after a reboot... YOU MAY NEED TO UNINSTALL MAGISK AND ALL MODULES BEFORE DOING THIS USING MAGISK UNINSTALLER basically you have to also install an older version of supersu and it has to be an aroma installer and install as SYSTEM also make a backup of the boot.img just incase you get bricked if you install the supersu app it will say su binary occupied but install should stay install supersu aroma (2.78v2) from https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3879523&d=1474248173 before and possibly after magisk install...only tested with magisk 16.2 beta channel and regular install not patched boot on Axon 7 with RR 8.1 weekly 6.0.0 20180225 (us variant) but should work on others probably...let me know how this goes for you
TRY AT OWN RISK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVICE BOOTLOOPS OR BRICKS
If anyone has a better way to get magisk to hold after a few restarts please let me know
sidenote:this supersu does work with magisk not installed and definately keeps root
(stock boot.img is in initial zip for custom rom) select intall imgs in twrp and flash the boot partition as needed)
ALSO YOU CAN ALWAYS DIRTY FLASH CUSTOM ROM same build or higher IF ALL GOES TO **** AND WONT LOOSE APPS OR DATA AT LEAST ON RR

[stupid question] OTA update when on magisk and xposed?

Hello XDA!
It's been a while since I did 'modding' on phones, I think I started with the OP1 back in 2014 but have not really been keeping up ever since. I am now on 5.1.5 and running official OOS with magisk and xposed for gravitybox.. Can I just disable magisk and xposed, do the OTA update and then re-enable or do I have to uninstall them fully? Or can I just do the OTA right now?
Sorry for what might be a really obvious answer.
Thank you!
You can do the OTA but if you want magisk (and then xposed systemless) i suggest you to install TWRP after update and you need in all cases to re-do root process

Ahh I see. Because xposed is now systemless it doesn't matter if I leave it enabled right? Is the new official TWRP without any dangerous bugs?
Thanks for your swift reply!!
maybe to help you all
me: 5.1.5, unlocked bootloader, unofficial TWRP from thread by wuxianlin, magisk 16.4
my procedure was to change to official twrp which can be done easily by
downloading the twrp installer from official site, put to internal storage
flash twrp official installer
still in recovery, select reboot: recovery
flash magisk
boot system
now download full 5.1.6 signed flashable zip
recovery: flash 5.1.6
reflash recovery
reboot recovery
flash magisk
boot system
now you have rooted 5.1.6 with official twrp and magisk, no wipe needed
oneplus6 ha a/b partition. so if you installed magisk 16.4 already. just OTA. when it's done don't reboot yet. enter magisk manager, choose install on the second partition. reboot.

TWRP official has no bug, the only thing i don't know is if backup/restore is working fine, if you install ota via TWRP and then flash (without reboot) twrp.zip and magisk, after reboot you'll find out that system is exactly the same it was before updating
The only thing u need to disable before updates are overlays through substratum, I also remove any security like finger prints, face unlock and pin or patterns too just in case. Once u flash update u will have to reflash magisk and xposed too

Accidentally Soft Bricked OP6; Recovered But Cannot Re-Install Magisk

Hello, and I apologize if this is in the wrong place, and if there is already a thread to solve my issue please direct me there (I could not find one for my specific issue). I cannot install Magisk without my OP6 becoming stuck in Fastboot mode (I can still access TWRP recovery); Should I get this Blu_Spark? People tell me it's better, especially on OnePlus 6.
So I was installing modules for Magisk, but Magisk itself is fairly new to me; I am used to SuperSU which is now outdated. I enjoy Magisk and its interface and the lot. Earlier today I attempted to install Viper4Android via Magisk and was told I needed BusyBox. I installed it from the app store, but then realized Magisk had a module for it. So I uninstalled BusyBox and installed the module. Upon reboot I found myself stuck in Fastboot. Luckily I could still access TWRP and managed to fix the Bootloop without losing data. I've since made a full backup of my things.
However, now I am facing a new issue altogether. After getting back into the phone Magisk told me that it was not installed. So I uninstalled Magisk via their flashable uninstaller and attempted to reinstall. Now I think Magisk itself is causing these issues. I don't want to wipe and do a fresh reset because the phone has a large capacity and I have a lot on it. Backup would be 180GB+ and restoration would take forever. Unless I'm missing something...
Basically I had to uninstall Magisk completely for it to go back to my phone. I just want my root. Also, is LineageOS worth it, I hear OxygenOS is superior but I enjoy the features Lineage has. Thank you.
Why is Magisk causing these issues? The only thing I can think of was my mess-up with BusyBox. If anyone could help me find an alternative to a factory reset to fix Magisk so it doesn't cause bootloop or fastboot I'd appreciate it.
Thank you for your time

If its better to provide solution if you include exact version name of your OS or magisk or twrp or other details instead of mentioning just names!
However below Solution might work if you are in Android 10. Read and follow the steps carefully
1. So if you access TWRP, flash Magisk Uninstaller so it will remove magisk and its existing modules. Dont teboot
2. Then flash the stock boot image or Full Rom ZIP in boot partition(current boot partition). Don't reboot since now you will lose TWRP as it will replace stock recovery. Remember dont reboot
3. Flash TWRP installer zip(not twrp image) and then now reboot to recovery. So now you have a fully working TWRP in OOS 10 with Magisk stuff removed. . Don't reboot .
4. Now Flash Magisk v20.1. Reboot to system.
Edit: you can get Twrp img and zip file from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...overy-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3860815

Thank you so much for your suggestion, and reply. Magisk and TWRP were up to date (the latest releases); Magisk v20.1, and TWRP 3.3.1.2 ("Enchilada"). My device is a OnePlus 6 running Android 9, last updated August 1st of this year, "ONEPLUS A6003_22_190911"
I will try your suggestion and respond as soon as possible. If there is anything else you need to know, ask. I am new to the concept of forums so I've been kinda flopping around like a fish out of water.

Hey, I'm in a similar situation you were in and I'm stuck in a bootloop after I flashed/installed busybox from magisk repo, I wanted viper 4android as well and while installing viper it said that I'd need busybox. Soon after I install busy box from magisk I'm in this bootloop, i have access to twrp luckily and i tried deleting this busybox and viper 4android module from twrp file manager but still I'm in a boot loop, can you guide me on how you managed to get out of this bootloop?? Thanks
