0.46mm Super Skin. A case hater's dream. - Google Pixel XL Accessories

It isn't exact, I hand cut it, but it is pretty close. Cut the volume buttons out on the wrong side. Got mad, so did a pretty crap job of cutting them out on the correct side. oops. All I know is that this sucker would probably stick to a block of ice. And for the first time this phone isn't hurting my pinkie when I am holding it.

Good work, although I don't like cases as they generally make the phone look worse, this makes the phone look much worse, but probably MUCH gripper.

What's this, the skin?

LOL what the...
It's actually a good idea in terms of protection without adding size but it's too ugly for me. Still, always good to see people thinking outside the box.

It really doesn't look that bad. The pics were taken with a 13w daylight sitting a couple of feet away using a six hundred dollar point and shoot. Which exaggerates how much it stands out. I'd put it up there with the gaudiness of carbon fiber or that new dragonskin stuff dbrand is pushing. Meaning I totally get where you are coming from. When I see people putting those gaudy skins on their phone, I wonder why they are compelled to buy it. Especially when they do nothing for the grip.
This though... I think you would be surprised. It gives massive confidence without adding any bulk.

Check this out!!!! Maybe what you where looking for?

That's pretty neat. Car seat fabric. Should do decent job for grip. But that one doesn't cover the sides. Hmm. Makes me want to go to Upholstery fabric shop and brainstorm.

A good effort on a difficult task.
I've been using the custom skins from dbrand (https://dbrand.com/) on my last two phones and now on the Pixel XL. These skins are precise beyond belief, so the challenge is installing it on your phone. The adhesive does allow "peel up and retry", so mostly it's just patience that's needed.
The quality is excellent and they have wide range of materials and colors to choose from. I've order black carbon fiber for my Pixel XL ($9.99) and will post a pic once its installed.

That's just it though. They don't have a wide range of materials. It's all the same thing. Vinyl sheets cut out with a laser cutter. They are all slick, and none of them are anywhere near in the same ball park as this.
Post your pics if you want. Seen em all before. Used em all too. Dbrand is a hype machine. Form over function.

Usable armband?

Could anyone suggest subject?

Friend of mine ordered the smaller version of the tunebelt and he's ecstatic over it. He's been through a couple too.
My wife loves her tunebelt, not too expensive on amazon either.

Thanks for reply guys!
I was looking at the same model.
AlgorithmX, because you have it, could you comment on quality and usability. I need this thing mostly for sports. It's kind of difficult to judge on picture. Does touch still works through that plastic? How it holds moisture? And how good is velcro?
I posted in the Vibrant and i9000 forums, but I got the larger version of the Tune Belt. It fits with my phone still inside it's TPU case which is what I was looking for. I think the smaller version would be too tight if you want to keep it in your case.
If you have above average sized biceps, you will need the extension as the band is one of the shorter ones I've seen, but luckily the extension is very cheap and works well.
Here are some pics.

No hole for a headphones cord?
And how do I know what is bigger/smaller version? I have only thin silicone on my phone and do not want to take it off every time.

The headphone cord comes out of the flap at the top. I can take a picture later, but it's the same open you slide the phone into, so there's plenty of room.
The model numbers tell you if it's the smaller one or larger one. As you can see in my pics, my phone has a TPU case on it and fits very well inside the armband.
AB82 = Smaller
AB83 = Larger
Finally got my paws on it and used it for a while.
IMHO, this armband is useless for sports. It is like a sponge!
I got bigger version and it fits the phone in the silicon case. However seams inside do not allow plastic to touch the screen, so it's pretty difficult to control phone on the run.

I'm assuming you're talking about the TuneBelt right? If so, it's neoprene. While it may "retain" sweat/moisture, it shouldn't absorb it, neoprene is basically sweat proof. It "retains" some of it temporarily, because the material is breathable (which you definitely want) I have the smaller ab82 that I used with my Touch Pro, and I can tell you from using it at the gym a bunch, if you check it a few hours later, it should be bone dry again as the sweat evaporates out of it, doesn't leave it gross or smelly, etc. Wetsuits are made out of the same material for this sorta reason.
As for the seams on the screen.. ya it looked that way in the pictures above. Still, looks to be the only good solution out currently for phones as big as ours.

Tune Belt Armband

Posting here in case you don't read the Vibrant forum.
I've been searching for an armband for my Vibrant for awhile and decided to get the Tune Belt Armband.
This is the one I got:
https://www.tunebelt.com/domino/tunebelt/shop.nsf/parts/3FBB580A8B45C3DA852577AD00660D14
So far it's a very good armband except in one area. The length of the band itself is kind of short. If you have decent sized biceps, I highly recommend getting the extension. It only costs a few dollars more so it's well worth the investment in case your arm is too big. This should fit just fine on most women.
The armband fits with my Vibrant still inside it's case which is exactly what I was looking for.
Here are some pics.

How well does it cope with water? Not just the kind from above, but also sweat from where it touches skin.
How much does it take to make the phone fall out? Looks like its "just" a flap with no velcro securing it in place?

I used to have a neoprene case exactly like this for an ipod and they don't deal with water...

It would take a LOT for it to fall out. The "flap" actually curves over the top of the phone because of the stitching and holds the phone very securely. I shook it as hard as I could and the phone did not budge.
To get the phone out, I have to hold the flap open and push the phone from the bottom, otherwise it doesn't come out.
As far as moisture, I would not run a marathon with any neoprene armband (at least not with a $500 phone in it). But for gym use, I think it's sufficient.
I'm going to run it through the gym the next few weeks and see how it holds up.
The build quality looks to be on par with my other 2 armbands and they've survived for a number of years now. Only time will tell.

DIY Carbon Case

I guys,
For the almighty sum of about £6 ($9.50) I put together myself this case, which for the price I think looks pretty neat, and shows you dont need to spend mega bucks to get stylish protection (however i have just order carbon chromatics skin from phantomskinz )
The products i used were as follows:
1.) Armour Case UK LINK US LINK
2.) 3m Carbon Di-Noc Wrap UK LINK US LINK
3.) A little bit of patience! It took me roughly 1 and a half hours of applying, particularly stretching round the edges in order to get a smooth finish, all it needs however is some heat from a hair dryer to get it round, but it is straight forward even for someone like me who has had no experience with the 3m Di-Noc products.
Hope people find this useful, as personally i think it looks great ,especially for the price!
Thanks
(apologies for webcam photos!!)

Sweet! Totally gonna do this.
Very good work!
Thanks for the feedback guys, i'm happy to do a tutorial if the demand exists as i appreciate some parts were quite fiddly and it did take me several attempts and 3 pieces of wrap!
That would be appreciated. I just ordered a piece of the CF stuff & while I'm pretty good with stuff like this, tips are always welcome.
This is cheaper, had one for my Nexus S.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Carbon-Fiber-Case-Cover-HTC-Sensation-G14-/230668774526
That case doesn't protect the front edge of the phone! When you drop it, its a 50:50 chance that its going to land on either the back or the front, no point just having one side protected, surely?! At least with the one i linked the screen is protected by few mm around the edge and They come with free screen protector
Oh and another point, where's the fun in just buying that!? Its all about adding your own touch to these sorts of things!!
looks amazing. it would be better for me to replace only plastic pieces( leave aluminium piece). anyway it looks good.
Another tip on how to put the CF on clean around the edges is to use a lighter. Just run it across the material a few times then stretch and push

Really?! Wont that just melt the CF? I just held the hair dryer to it, till it was soft then it was a lot easier to manipulate around the edges!
Also guys maybe thinking of making a few then possibly selling, what are your thoughts?
Thanks!

I'm not really sure man, apart from a few people, no one really seems to be interested! Would have to work how many to make, how much bulk buy discount i could get etc. If say 5-10 people were interested i would definitely be interested, but there's also the issue of the majority of you guys living in the US, which adds postage etc doesn't seem completely worth given (as linked you can get similar for $5 posted.
Also do i need special permission if i were to sell products through here?
I'm interested....I guess make a thread in the marketplace as well. Might boost more people.

I'm not associated with this seller/auction, HOWEVER, I have purchased this exact case (but in all black) from this specific seller and can recommend both. It's a three-piece case with silicone in the middle and a hard (but slightly grippy still) front/back that snap together. I think this is really the most protective case available so far for the Nexus 4. And unlike many other cases that snap, this one makes me feel a bit more confident that the small plastic pieces aren't going to break like they do on so many cheap cases. That said, I've only had this case for a week, so we'll see...
The cutouts are perfect, buttons feel great, and if I were going to drop my phone or knock it off of the table, I'd really be hoping I have this case on it when I do! Ultimately, I got this as my going-to-the-gym case, otherwise I use a Meifeng. But it is a beast of a case - don't get this to be anything but a beast, and a mug o' beer, of course!
If you want to search for the other designs for this case, search for "e960 case tuff" (no quotes) on eBay.
Also, I *am* able to charge my phone on the LG Qi pad with this case on. It must be *perfectly* placed but it charges just fine then. If you take the back hard plastic piece off, then you can move it around much more.
"Oh Yeah! Time for a Beer!"
LOL... Might lose it in a night club or at a bar!
Only if we knew if it fit any of the Seidio holsters active or surface, I'd be all over this like white on rice (don't worry, I'm Asian lol)
That case looks awesome!
Could you post some pictures of how it fits onto the phone?
Interesting.
Found this on ebay yesterday, really like the case and am going to buy it! I thought of getting the beer style, but as I will take this case with me on drinking nights, I advised myself not to buy the beer style, because I might be raising my phone instead of my glass occasionally!

It wouldn't take you long to realize your mistake...
Just received the white black version of this case. Its actually pretty nice. It feels good in hand and looks like it would protect the phone pretty well.
The only cons are, it has a weird smell, pretty strong plastic smell and also proximity sensor doesn't work too well, like for it doesn't work for phone calls.
FYI
So back to the Poetic Bumper

Gelaskin for Nexus 4

Hey all
Seems like everyone is really hyped about the dBrand skin for nexus 4 :good: well I also remember another really good brand I had back then on my iphone 4, called Gelaskin
If you want something with a pretty design rather than a texture, Gelaskin is perfect. I've had it before
http://www.gelaskins.com/store/phones/LG_Nexus_4
it's has a dull-glossy finish.. idk how to describe it but it feels glossy but it doesn't reflect much like a glass lol  it's made of 3M, super durable, can be reapplied if you mess it up. best part? it's reusable! (yes, but for a limited time, probably less than 20 times or more depend on how you use it) incase you don't want it on your phone for some reason, you can always take it off and stick it on the adhesive that it came with
really should try it out guys! :victory:

I suspect a big draw for a lot of us in going with dbrand is due to the precision cut Nexus logo cutouts. A lot of us want our Nexus devices to stand out and be identifiable by name among a sea of Galaxies and iPhones!
