Equalizer apps - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Does anyone know of the best equalizer apps for our phones? I've used a couple in the past and it had good bass, but it dropped the volume. And I'm asking of an app that would improve the sound from my BT to my vehicle to play my music. Oh, I use Google Play music as my source too.
Thanks in advance.

There's a built in equalizer in the phone settings. Probably won't find one that works right as an installed app.

I use...
Power amp. There is an equalizer in that app that works better than the stock equalizer.

for the S8 or Note 8 try Noozxoide i found to get the benefit i had to disable sound alive using BK disabler and it actually sounds almost as good as Viper4Android, all done without root and it gives volume a real boost too, its the best ive seen so far second only to viper

Simple software based system wide graphical equalizer that works on bluetooth

Ok there are a lot of requests for a simple equalizer system but so far the choices seem to be either buy a set of wired headphones use the srs wow EQ which slows the phone down and has rather limited controls or use a high end media player.
can someone create a low profile software equlizer app that is NOT SRS WOW
all i need is the preamp and range sliders with a few preset slots that works over bluetooth. is it too much to ask for @[email protected]
"no i am not switching to core player XD"

Have you looked into the HTC Audio Booster? I have that, but I'm not sure it does what you'e looking for.
HTC audio booster is buggy. It shuts off when it wants and at the end of songs. Everyone knows this.

3-band equalizer for Android

heres a simple equalizer i found has "Bass" , "Mid" , "Treble" control.
FINALLY a equalizer for android, Even though it still simple its a good start.
BETTER THAN NOTHING, one thing im not happy is that theres no good or any equalizer on the android market.
GIVE CREDIT TO THE DEVELOPER. (he searching for developers to help him out)
http://code.google.com/p/smuuz/
enjoy
any feedback on this?
Does it work in all apps, all "types" (i.e. Media volume, ring volume, etc) of sound?
its only supports "mp3" with 3 simple equalizer.
I get alot of distortion. But its a great start.
Glad to see progress with the eqs.... This is pretty buggy for me at the moment. Too bad all the devs who've broken ground on the eq are trying to build their own music apps bundled. Hopefully a standalone eq app like srswow will eventually be released.
Mixzing now has an EQ (only works when program is on the screen (no background play)..
yeah, the one on Mixzing is actually pretty cool

[Q] possible to increase volume?

hey guys. i like watching movies and shows on the Xoom. but i've found that unless i'm using headphones, the volume leaves much to be desired for the most part. this doesn't happen when watching youtube videos or listening to music. but anything played through rockplayer or moboplayer (i.e. avis, mp4s, etc) leaves me wanting more volume.
is there a way to increase the volume on the Xoom like there is for the Evo and other android devices through qpst or other apps?
thanks
Try Volume+. It's what I am using.
Just installed Volume+ but won't have a chance to play with it until later. What settings do you use?
You can also use Equalizer from Smart Android Apps. I use this for my general music listening and it automatically adjusts the EQ based on the type of music I am listening to. What you can also do is manually adjust the EQ settings and boost the volume quite a bit. You do have to be careful though as you can easily distort the sound if you boost it too much. The paid version gives you the ability to create and edit the EQ presets and added widget support. Otherwise the free version works great and is pretty feature packed.
I looked through the market for "Volume+" and could not find it. Can you provide a link?

Here it is:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.TEST.android.lvh&feature=search_result
My settings on this are:
Speaker Volume Level +4
Headset Volume Level +3
Bluetooth Volume Level +4
I'm sure I could go higher, but there's no need for me to. I've not changed the EQ settings, but it allows you to do that as well. I've used PowerAmp and love it, because of its EQ function. But with this Volume+ I've been using the stock music player and am quite happy. And this solved the low volume issue I was having with my Jawbone Jambox bluetooth speaker.

Awesome catch man! Installed it and I'm loving the increased volume!! That was one of the only problems I had with my Xoom.

[Q] What should I know about using PowerAmp and Viper4Android together?

I just downloaded PowerAmp (love it so far) and am also continuing to use Viper4Android. Is there anything I should know about -- things to avoid, tips, etc.? For instance, is it OK to use both equalizers at the same time?
Why would you want to use both the equalizers at the same time?? The sound will surely be not up to the mark! Use the V4A FIREequalizer!
If you are having problems with PowerAmp, you first need to do this: Go to PowerAmp Settings - Audio - Advanced Tweaks. Now disable Direct Volume Control and enable Music FX!
If you have any more concerns about V4A, you need to read the official thread : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
and the Nexus 5 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/viper4android-t2543796
Everything's been explained clearly!

When you install V4A direct volume control is now 'non supported' by default (at least on the latest slimkat).
Enabling musicfx did nothing for me (I left it on anyway).
V4A did not work in compatibility mode for me, I had to run it in 'normal' mode, and turn the poweramp EQ off, so far everything is working good. I can't really tell a difference when I switch preset settings on the equalizer though..so that might not actually be working for me
I was having problems as well, Poweramp didn't want to cooperate with V4A. What I noticed is that Poweramp was still using Android's default equalizer so what I've done is I disabled MusicFX app and reboot the phone. Poweramp started using V4A thanks to that
I can sum it up in an acronym.....P.I.T.A.

You sir are amazing. I've been struggling for days trying to get Viper4android to work with PowerAmp. The answer was to uncheck direct volume control in the advanced tweaks. Everything is all good now. My ears and my brain thank you!!

[Guide]best sounding music setup on note 3

This is my personal setup and it sounds great. Also please consider getting decent - high end earphones/ headset.
As for me im using senheiser CX870 earphones. Here we go
1. Must be rooted
2. Buy poweramp! Yes this is the BEST music player on android.
3. Get viper4android here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
4. Download noozxoide EIZO-rewire pro series here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noozxoidelabs.eizo.rewirepro
5. The idea is to set v4a as secondary. So in settings > sound > music effects. Set to noozxoide. Then open v4a install the drivers (i use superior) and FX compatible mode set to Compatible.
6. Reboot your phone
7. Enjoy!
Tips with v4a and nooz settings:
You guys really need to experiment. As results will vary,
Nooz:
Lineout >
Deliver balanced natural sound: OFF
Digital preset: AUDIOPHILE
VE engine: OFF
Increase monitor size: LARGE-I
Create V-sur: STUDIO-II
V4a: make sure to enable ui settings to EXPERT
V4fx: ON
Playback gain: ON/EXTREME/4X/0db max output
Viper DDC: ON - beyerdynamic-DTX11iE
Equalizer: OFF (I stick to poweramp eq)
Convolver: ON - HTC beats audio 128kbps
Viper Bass: On
Bass mode - natural
Frequency - 100hz
Bass boost - 6db
The idea is to compliment poweramp's eq and bass with these 2 apps. I recommend setting v4a and nooz as SYSTEM APPS for better compatibility.
If you really wanna be technical, also use Tasker. Create a task which opens both v4a and nooz when headset inserted and kills when unplugged.
Hope thos helps my fellow audiophiles! Enjoy!

Does this work with Spotify?
Analog of PowerAMP can be AIMP, may be not functionally like POWERAMP but it's awesome and NO ADS and without other bad stuff.
One question. Viper setting Conclover ON ok, but I cant find HTC beats 128kbps. There is nothing..

You need to download IR samples. You can download a bunch of them from the official v4a thread

Try to convert both nooz and v4a as system apps. And set Sound effects with nooz.

The best music setup is through the adapt sound function from the phone settings. But it only works with the stock music player. Everything else just sucks.
V4a is miles ahead of adapt sound. Feels like you just connected a DAC when you use the app lol. Pure audio bliss using the note 3 and the xba h3 with v4A

From a fellow audiophile to another, I gotta say your idea is good, but only half-way. Firstly, the setup you offered us worked best for your headphones, but that does not necessarily mean they will sound just as well on others. Took my 3 headphones for a test drive( Shure SRH-750DJ, AudioTehnica M50X and Beats Studio Wireless). The conclussion was similar among them, even though all 3 pairs are designed for different types of music and with different frequencies and scoops: the instant i installed noozoxide i sensed a huge increase in bass, increase which at high volume caused crackling. Since that happened, adding more decibels from v4a just made things worse (although the 100hz frequency of the lows helped a bit, it was still too much). A steady 3.5db increase is sufficient. The digital preset Audiophile actually sounded baaaaaad on my toys, was only vaguely acceptable on the M50X. Unique II and III made the sound much better. The playback gain in v4a offers just noise, not an actual increase. Better play with a kernel that has fauxsound (managed to turn all my headphones to such insane volumes that they are louder around my neck than the phone speaker). Don't even get me started on the convolver.... As for Viper DDC, I must really say that it is VERY headphone specific. The DTX11iE may have sounded good on your headphones but turned mine into high frequency devices that could crack windows. Each pair of headphones works best with different presets of thr DDC.
All in all, your idea was very good but I really suggest people should play with these settings until they find the sweet spot for their own pair of headphones, since there cannot be a preset to fit them all. Have fun
honestly, installing nooz while having v4a seems a bit pointless to me.... i use v4a with irs samples and other setting tweaked so as to work perfectly with the Etymotic hf5 that i have....V4a is configured properly offers top class results without the need to resort to other apps....dont even need poweramp...besides best audio app i ever came across that offered fantastic sound was neutron music player...now THAT was something...
Im using V4A in combination with PowerAMP, and muat say that sound qualiti is on the high level
