Samsung S8/S8+ Kingoroot/One Click root/King Root - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried to root their S8/S8+ with Kingoroot/One Click root/King Root?

I know I for one am too scared to try. Hell, I went and bought a brand new laptop, downloaded everything I need to gain root through SamFAIL method. Ive been researching, reading every root forum for a couple of months now ( even longer if you count the long year and a half of trying to root my ZMaxPro, the aka the unrootable bastard) and am still too scared to even try it. I hate that I'm too chicken **** to even do it. I used Kingoroot for my Zmax pro and damn near bricked the thing. Luckily, I was able to figure out how to save it after a lot of working at it and eventually I had to just come to terms with the fact that some devices are just unrootable. But this one? The S8 Plus? There's a whole world of ROMs and toys, and developing tools...all seems so close yet so damn far away. lol. So..my advice? DO NOT USE KINGOROOT..But, if you do use it and it works, would ya kindly let me know? lol. Thx.

[Q] Samsung Illusion SCH-i110 Rooting / ROMs

I have scoured the Internet for information regarding any custom work for this phone.
I stumbled upon samsungillusionforum dot com, which is a dead forum with ancient posts and near zero activity. It seems to be an alias to samsungfascinateforum dot com. Why anybody would set a forum up in this manner is beyond me.
Last month I bought the Verizon Wireless Samsung Illusion SCH-i110. I waited around a month to see if anybody would post any information regarding rooting/ROMs for this phone to no avail.
I plan on trying SuperOneClick to root the phone, but as for Custom ROMS I don't know what is out there.
I would appreciate any and all information anybody has regarding ongoing customization work for the Verizon Wireless Samsung Illusion SCH-i110 running Android 2.3.5.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I too have been looking to see if i can find a way to root this phone...i like the phone, nice and responsive and just a good midrange phone, however i do want to get root access for wifi tethering.... I have tried superoneclick, doomlord, z4, gingerbreak, and universal androot all to no avail... if anyone has success getting this rooted please share the knowledge and it'd be highly appreciated....
I am in the same boat here... My girlfriend recently picked one up and hates all the VZW apps that are installed and we want to remove them and tweak the system a bit. I have scoured through the interwebs for close to 2 weeks trying to find anything that can root this phone. Unfortunately, anything out there as far as I can tell does not work... Can anybody please help with this?
yes please im in the same shape as yall i got a couple darts modded and now i have the gnex and it is great but if i cant find anything soon maybe this one will not majically work and need to trade for a differatnt model.......ive also tries every method th OP origanilly posted............sux new toy no mod
Same here. Starting to think no one will ever root this phone. It boggles the mind that there is an unrootable android phone on the market. :-(
Sent from my SCH-I110 using Tapatalk 2
I was an idiot to suggest to my wife she get this phone from Verizon - I just assumed it was going to be a quick root for this cheap phone and I'd get all that Verizon crap off of it and it'd run great...
Looks like it ain't never going to happen.
did you try ZergRush? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296916
It's not that it's unrootable, it's just no one spends time rooting/modding prepaid phones... I'd be willing to work on it but I would need a tester, someone who can use ADB
I personally have tried everything including ADB to root this device. It isn't a prepaid phone. It is a contract phone through VZW
Just wondering if anyone has tried getting root by using Unlock Root from unlockroot dot com?
I am also interested in any progress on this phone.
I have the straight talk version S720C Samsung Proclaim which runs on Verizon service.
I assume that once a root for the paid Verizion is working that it should work as well on the Proclaim?
I got this for my daughter and being able to wifi teather would be great
I have tried every method to root this device. None have worked. Zergrush, unlock root, super one click, doomlord, z4root, manually, and a few other methods... Have the devs stopped working with one click root programs?

the info will be posted up in due time, when the exploited is published and a way for the majority to install it is done.
Was just cute the word 'unrootable' was used is all lol.

[Q] Need Root For BLU Studio 6.0 LTE

I am looking for a root for my BLU Studio 6.0 LTE model Y650Q preferably through Framaroot. I've already tried and does not work. Also, I'd be willing to donate towards a custom Lollipop ROM for my phone as well. Please let me know if this is possible. I had a BLU Studio 5.5 before this phone and Framaroot worked for it so I'm hoping it'll work or this phone soon. Willing to donate.
This is what I've found
Look at this page for Lollipop Rom. http://www.lollipop-roms.org/2014/12/blu-studio-6-0-lte-6900.html
I was looking for a one click root method as well. I think there aren't many options because the phone is still new. I'm looking to buy this phone. How do you like yours?
Honestly, I love it. I had the Note 3, and came on hard times so had to sell it. I got this phone a week ago and its seriously up to par compared to the Note 3. My husband has the Note 4 and I honestly like my phone better. I've been a Samsung fan since the Vibrant and feel bad for straying but BLU made a really kick ass phone! My ONLY complaint is that the touch sensitivity is a little high and find myself having to hit the back button but once I'm able to root, I know I can fix that. The camera is BETTER than my husbands Note 4. I honestly can't say enough about it. I really do love it.
Hi again,
Is there wireless tethering capability with this phone? And is the internal storage a true 16 gigs? I know it will only be 11 out of the box, but what I'm asking is, is the storage all one disk drive? I've seen these types of phones with partitioned drives, which I hate. One more question. Were you able to get it rooted and romed? Did the download link include a custom recovery? I would really love to get Cyanogenmod on this.
Yes, wireless tethering is a feature. I have used it plenty of times to connect my tablet with no problems. I actually have 14 GB of storage out of the box. I still have 13gb after all my app downloads. Most of my apps are on my 32gb SD Card.
Like I said, the link provided above isn't legit. Its basically a scam so no. I haven't been able to root it yet. I've tried Framaroot, but no one has found the exploit for this particular phone yet. I used to have the BLU Studio 5.5 and Framaroot worked for it, so hopefully its just a matter of time before someone figures out this phone.
I used an app called Towelroot on my Nexus 7 tablet. I believe it's supposed to work with most Android devices. I'm digging around trying to see what I can find out. It works just like Framaroot in that you don't need to use a computer to root your phone.
Just tried towelroot... No luck. Says my phone is not supported..
Crap! I was hoping it works. I need to make a decision fast because my current phone is really acting up badly. I like the specs, just want to be able to root and get Cyanogenmod. Only because I really love the new CM themes. I'll keep digging to see what I can find out.
is this real
Hey guys in found this... Not sure if it's scam or for real... 3 comments so far say its good... But this can be fake... I also want to at least root or better yet get lollipop ... So - http://www.how-to-root.club/2015/01/blu-studio-6-0-lte-6900.html

I'm sure it'll be rooted soon. The Studio 5.5 was rooted, so it's just a matter of time. This phone has only been out a month so I'm sure its in the works. If I were you, I'd still get it. But that's just because I love this phone.

I've already figured out its a scam. You can only "download" it by doing endless amounts of surveys and signing up for this and that and you never get the download link. Trust me, I've tried. And the XDA link he provides, isn't legit.
ImSoBLU, check this out
You said you tried towelroot. Here is a workaround for the phone not supported issue:http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-fix-towelroot-phone-isnt-supported-problem/
I stumbled across a site that supposedly had a Framaroot download, but they wanted you to jump through too many hoops for the apk. I'm not going for that. Either post the link or don't.

I checked that link you sent and it says to enter in some codes. There is NO where to enter any sort of codes so TowelRoot is still a no-go.
You're supposed to tap on Welcome to Towelroot three times. All my Android devices are rooted, so I have nothing to test this on. But I like what I've seen so far with this phone. I have a thL phone that I used Framaroot on. I hope they will find an exploit for the Blu. I just need a new phone because my current one has limited internal storage, the camera stopped working, and either battery is shot, or charging port is going bad. Have you ever installed custom recovery and custom Rom before? On your other Blu?
Yeah, I'm an intermediate knowledge of rooting and downloading and installing ROMs. It helps that my husband is a computer programmer and has been for 17 years so he knows quite a bit about this stuff and so its rubbed off on me. I did tap the welcome message 3 times. Then 10, then about 40 times. And nothing. My husband could root it via the computer but can't find the adb drivers for this phone. Or something like that. He tried and looked for everything and told me to post here and see if anyone's figured it out. If he hasn't been able to do it then it hasn't been done yet.
But it'll be done soon. I was able to root my BLU Studio 5.5 with Framaroot and did install a few ROMs on it but ended up sticking with stock ROM because I preferred it. So I know its just a matter of time before someone figures out the exploits to root this phone. Just hoping it happens sooner rather than later.

Haha, thanks! When my hubby gets home, we're going to try with the drivers you sent me to root the phone. If we get it I'll be sure to let you know and post the steps we took to get it done. Thanks again! And let me know if you find anything else out too. But I still recommend you getting the phone! The root and ROMs will be coming soon!

Did you root your phone
Any luck? we need to keep this phone relevant it needs to be rooted! Boost Mobile (ZTE Max XL)
Anything yet?
I would like to know also if this has been rooted.
BUMB this thing isn't getting rooted is it?
Bump, I just got this phone, I upgraded from the ZTE WARP ELITE. Which I had that phone for 2 years and it still never got root.
I am hoping this one will get root soon (ZTE MAX XL)

I also am searching for root info on ZTE Max XL N9560. So far I have found recovery mode, FTM mode and what appears to be DFU mode. The DFU is the most interesting so far but only because it seems to be the Qualcomm emmc serial port access. The trouble with this phone is that its running android N which looks to have "shared" folder links to which you seem to have write access but the underlying folders do not, so you cannot write. If anyone has any info on the serial commands to interface with the qualcomm emmc, please point me in the right direction, I am willing to use my device for testing.
Bump. I hope this phone gets more interest. I'm more of a PC power user, so I don't get the most expensive phones.
However I really hope this phone can get root. It's a shame because I had the ZTE Warp Elite for 2 years. It still has not seen root.
I just hope this phone doesn't turn out like that one.
I have tried King Root, it does not work as of right now for either.
I've heard with these newer versions of Android, one click roots are a thing of the past, not sure how true that is.
i've also posted in the Android forums, for those who are interested.
Well I just helped root the S8/S8+ and Note 8 and I just picked up an N9560 for 20$ off the streets lol.. its google locked so Ill be looking into it.. im also slightly versed in QC edl mode.. i just need to find the programmers and some stock firmware

I've had this phone for less then a week, either I got a lemon ? or this phone is just a total pile of ****... Im taking it back tomorrow to see if I got a wonky one...... The ram is constantly in full use mostly by apps I don't use or want, are unnecessary, and that I can't uninstall or disable. Other than screen size, this phone was a total down grade from the warp 7........

You aren't choosing good devices. Choose better devices. The cheap, mid to low-end devices usually don't find a working method because no one that has experience owns those devices, they use the more popular devices and the flagship devices.
Do your research about a device BEFORE you get the device, this way you can see which devices can be rooted, then you will know what to buy or not.

So I just bought this phone today anything I should do with it?

Ok more specifically I'm pretty used to the stock android experience (modded of course) but I read about that audio issue and I'm pretty terrified of it because music and calls are the main things I need a phone for. I've been out of the modded android loop since CM10 so I don't really know present day standards or processes for unlocking/rooting let alone standards for ROMs etc. Anyone got any advice?

my words of advice would be to make sure that you need root before you root it. what i mean by that is think about what you stand to gain by rooting it vs the PITA it is to root this thing. Pay close attention to the 168 hour thing as its been a thorn in many a persons side and caused many a headache. Ive had dozens of android phones and all have been rooted with the exception of the HTC Rezound, which required the OMG PITA "wire trick" to root properly. These phones run very well as stock and dont have much bloatware, so rooting them is becoming less necessary. I got mine in july '18 and have been happy with its performance overall so far. Ive reflashed the stock tar.img a few times for varying reasons, and even rooted it. But after losing SPay capability with root, i flashed back to stock as the gains werent worth the losses to me. Also, SHealth is a task to get working after you trip knox btw.

Yeah tbh I'm ok with the interface now and aside from making the volume buttons change tracks when you hold them down the only things id need root for is clearing out bloatware etc. I think I'll take your advice and not root it for now (until something breaks) but what is this 168 hour thing?

there has been a great deal of discussion about how to get the OEM unlock toggle to show up in the developer options, many suggest that its only obtainable by leaving the phone powered off for 168 hours and then rebooting, not connecting to any network (including cellular) and then enabling developer options and then the toggle should be there.

So wait. My phone is showing the OEM unlock toggle and I can change it. Does that mean I can root? Or would trying to root then make me wait 168 hours? I never tried any custom stuff with it btw. Just bought and installed Lawnchair lol.

be careful with starting down the root rabbit hole tho. if you flash anything in download mode, youll trip the knox security counter and that is 100% irreversible without sending it to samsung. Root is cool and allows you to do stuff, but honestly ive not found too much reason to root this phone yet. Ive literally had over 20 android phones and i rooted and modded all of them (except the rezound, if you want to know why that one wasnt fully rooted, just google "rezound wire trick" and youll see) and this one just really doesnt need root IMO. Sure it would be nice to have a few root things, but its not worth the trade off of losing samsung pay so i can pay for stuff with my watch. That feature is just waaaay too valuable to me

Thanks for the advice, but this isn't my first rodeo with Samsung lol. I messed around with the Verizon S5 alot and was lucky to have the version able to unlock it's bootloader.

np, the G900V was a major disappointment with its locked bootloader. i recall spending several hours bricking one and having to restore it with the stock tar.img file. total PITA

Will you stop telling people that you will mess up phone if you try to root it.
If people follow directions they have nothing to worry about.
You where bootloop not bricked a brick device is usually a unfix able.
If is fine you what to keep Sam pay but your info you are telling is wrong.
I recently unroot my phone guess what Sam pay work fine.
Then root phone again no lock out and enable treble and flashed gsi image.
So their nothing wrong with rooting if you want to do that.

dude, i dont think youre reading what im saying right. Ive never said that rooting your phone will mess it up. the stuff about the G900V is a DIFFERENT PHONE. FFS. This isnt my first rodeo rooting and modding. Hell, i even was writing mods back in the Evo and S3 days. Im refamiliarizing myself with some of this, but i havent ever said youd mess your phone up if you follow the root instructions. Ill even go as far as saying as long as you dont Odin flash the tar.img for a completely different phone, these things are virtually impossible to hard brick. And yes, a bootloop is referred to as a soft brick. But, it is important to know that if you do root your phone, it WILL make samsung health not work as it did when stock and there is NO WAY of bringing it back without swapping the motherboard

Unlocking the bootloader was completely dependent on the type of EMMC chip that the G900V that you had was using. I got three of those and only one was able to unlock after the Marshmallow update.

the last tinkering i did with the G900V was several years ago and that was at the point when all hope was lost on the locked bootloader. I havent looked into it since as the G900's i had were G900P's which were FAR easier to work with. I did also root and ROM a couple G900VL's, but again was years ago

good times, yeah LOL!!! major waste of time on those friggin G900V's is more like it yeah, i wouldnt root yet, keep the stock recovery so it automagically updates to pie in a few weeks and manually check for updates every so often to force its hand. Also sammobile.com posts them too if you want to force it on via Odin and trip knox. Anyways, if you get the update in the near future, let us know!
