WatchMaster Premium - What do you get? - Samsung Gear S3

I'm about to get a Gear S3 and I've been looking around for watch faces. I really like some of the ones on WatchMaster (not Watchmaker) and wouldn't mind paying for the Premium. But their description sounds a little fishy to me. I feel like they worded it in a way to sound as if they're offering more value than they really are. So has anyone bought the Premium upgrade? If so, I'd appreciate it if you can answer me:
1. Do you get EVERY watch face available or are there still some watch faces that require you to pay extra for?
2. Do you actually get unrestricted ownership of the watch faces (as in, you can use them on your watch for as long as you want with all the features built into the watch face)?
3. How is the performance of these watch faces? Any crashes or lag?
4. I found some nice watch faces here but the ones by "Pluto" like Timeless and Silver Bullet don't appear in the WatchMaster app on my phone. Can they only be bought individually in the Galaxy Store App on the Gear S3? Or can I not see it simply because I don't have the watch connected yet to my phone?
Thanks a lot!

Hello this is WatchMaster.
We would like to thank you for your interest in WatchMaster.
1. If you subscribe all of the watchfaces within WatchMaster are free of download/use, no extra payments will be required.
2. WatchMaster watchfaces are copyrighted to the designer. They are a restricted designs, the design itself belongs to the designer not the buyer.
3. To prevent from screen burn-in effects there can be crashes or bugs. Especially for Gear users, please read the Samsung developer page for detail information.
(developer.samsung.com/gear/design/home-structure/watch-face)
4. Some of the watchfaces we sell in Galaxy App store are in-partnership watchfaces so they won't be released on WatchMaster. In-partnership watchfaces are mostly free to download but other watchfaces will be easier to reach when you purchase Pro for WatchMaster.
Hope this answers your questions if you have any other questions please contact us via email ([email protected]) and we will do our best to help you out.

If you have a PC or a Mac and a touch of artistic ability, you can make your own watch faces for free with Samsung's Gear Watch Designer.

[Q] creating a gear app with copyrighted material

Hi,
I am trying to make a Gear 2 watchface with a Disney character on it. I use a drawing of the character on the watchface.
Unfortunately, my app is rejected by Samsung Apps, because of "Copyrighted material".
Is there a workaround for this type of situation ? Shall we never have the chance of seeing such apps on our "Gear 2" ?
In fact, this should not be specific to Gear 2 Apps, I believe, same rule applies to Android apps, at least the apps on Samsung Apps.
What can I do ? Would it matter if I draw it myself and make a serious mistake to say that this is not the correct character ?

Why dont' you make a Disney watch face with Watch Styler and publish it on Gearfaces.com
Gear users can use that watch face with the Watch Styler and/or Multi-Watch Gear app.
there are already a few others:
Mickey watch faces
But my watchface is a standalone app with other features (digital clock and date with weekdays, battery & bluetooth status)
I am also planning to develop it with additional features like weather & location information etc.
so it's not just a design for Watch Styler.

Ok, then I don't know a way to get around the Samsung Copyright police...
Maybe just try again, another tester might not notice it.
My experience is that they don't really have a structured way of testing.
They might find a problem one day, but miss ten others.
But be carefull, if you violate the copyright laws too often they might block/remove your account completly.
Why don't you make you own nice unique design for the watch face, then you'll have your own copyright?

Gear Watchface Designer - Questions

I have been using Gear Watch Face designer for sometime now and have the following questions:
How to display weather info on the watch face you are creating?
S-Health > Steps Speed as action button screen does nothing, just shows some info on how to use steps speed. Does it work only when you have an ongoing exercise program like running or walking chosen?
Hey there! Have a bunch of faces on the market now (Infinity Watchfaces)... Weather support isn't available yet, but Samsung said they would add it.
Steps Speed should calculate how fast you are walking or running I believe. Haven't used that one yet, mainly step count.
XP, anyone?
Is anyone using this program on Win XP? I realize that's ancient, but that's where my copy of Photoshop resides, and it's the machine that's really the best place for me to do any design work.
Issues getting watch face certified since the last update
Since the most recent update all of my watch faces are being rejected for "Unable to find the app due to the minimum supported OS version of Gear application."
I believe they are saying that it should be set for Gear S2 only but I cannot find a setting for that in Gear Watch Designer. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

[QUESTION] An advanced gear watch designer?

Hi all.
So it's been 3 weeks since I bought the gear S3 and I'm loving it.
I bought a couple of watch of faces through the app store and designed a few through gear watch designer so that Samsung has provided.
But the gear watch designer has it limitations. For example I couldn't create a complication for weather or phone battery and the ability to change color when we tap the watch face.
I was wondering if there is any other advanced app apart from the gear watch designer to create watch faces. I saw a few guys had made their own watch faces and published through the Galaxy app store. How are they doing those faces?
Thanks.
Watchmaker Premium. If you look on Google+ there are hundreds if not thousands of faces available. There is a large community of developers offering free faces that post on the Watchmaker community. I've given up on designing my own since you can request a face and if it's not one of the banned faces like Tag Heuer then someone will make it. Also look at Watch Face Pros on Google+, there are a lot of gwd faces there.

Thanks. But isn't Watchmaker Premium an Android application? Is this the app devs used to create watch face in galaxy app store?
I'm looking for a Windows based app because i could use mouse and keyboard for better accuracy. Hope you understood.
Thanks.

If you've got some programming ability, you can do it through Samsung Web Application Development.
Here's a discussion of just adding temperature:

If you can wait, supposedly it's coming in the next version of GWD.
It's been discussed for quite a while here and over on the Samsung forums, and the guy that is in charge of the GWD is well aware that people want the ability to do it. Hopefully, it's sooner than later. I don't have the time to learn how to program myself!

Question Rolex faces for GW4?

The worst thing about moving from tizen OS to wear OS is the difficulty navigating in finding faces. Can anyone help mevfind Rolex or similar faces in that don't require a monthly subscription like is required with watchmaker? I'm glad to pay.... Just not each and every month.
Thanks
Hi
If you are happy to use Watchmaker app then this guy does really good ones https://www.svartling.net/p/watch-faces.html
Also, pujieblack. /r/PujieBlack is full of them.

Checklist when choosing a watch face

Hello community,
When shopping for watch faces, it is possible that you get attracted to certain designs and buy them, only to realize later that the watch face is missing one or more things that you would like to have. Then it becomes a question of whether to keep the watch face or get a refund.
Watch faces come with the following types of customizations:
1. Complications: which display information directly from another app, e.g. weather, date, etc. - VERY USEFUL
2. App Shortcuts: which are simply shortcuts to apps on your watch - NOT very useful.
A good watch face will support more number of custom Complications. Some of the elements in a watch face are fixed, and cannot be customized. Most Developers deliberately make some of the information on the watch faces non-customizable (not sure why, so my guess is to sell more watch faces). So look specifically for what can be customized. Typically, 4 or more custom complications would make for a great watch face.
Personally, I prefer watch faces that show basic things prominently such as time, date and weather. There are many watch faces whose designs may look good, but not as functional as one would like it to be. The designs often obscure the information, making them difficult to read at a glance. It is a smart watch, and therefore, should present info in as easy to read manner, as possible.
So here is a handy checklist that can be used to see what all features are available in a watch face:
TIME & DATE: These are obvious, so I won't include them in the list (and these don't make a watch 'smart'):
01. DAY of the week
02. Weather
03. Weather, with location name: very few watch faces support this.
04. Moon Phase: very few watch faces support this.
05. Phone Battery*
06. Watch Battery: present in most watch faces.
07. Calendar, preferably with the ability to display 'Agenda': very few watch faces support this.
08. World Clock
09. Weather related info like 'Feels like Temperature', Sunrise and Sunset, UV index, etc: most watch faces support these.
10. Chance of Rain: very few watch faces support this.
11. UTC time**
12. Day of the year**
13. Week of the year**
14. Step Counter***
15. Distance Covered***
16. Calories burnt***
17. Heart Rate (bpm)****
18. Blood Pressure (BP)
19. Google Fit (or other similar apps/ service like Samsung Health) integration: only some watch faces support this.
* if not supported natively, you can enable this on most watch faces by installing this app.
** if not supported natively, you can enable this on most watch faces by installing this app
*** if not supported natively, you can enable this on most watch faces by installing this app.
**** if not supported natively, you can enable this on most watch faces by installing this app.
Do take note of the AOD mode when selecting a watch face. This is very important. Some watch faces only offer a 'DIM' mode for AOD. This is bad as this will not only drain more battery, but will also cause screen burn-in. The AOD mode must ideally offer a 'Time only' option, and preferably shifting pixels too!
There are two types of watch faces I have come across so far:
1. One that allows use of complications available with WearOS, as well as 3rd party apps.
2. One that relies on its own set of complications, and you need to install a companion app on the phone: This severely limits the amount of information you can have.
Watch faces in the 1st category are usually preferred due to their versatility and number of complications supported.
SUMMARY
What I look for before buying a watch face:
1. Prominent Time, Date & Day (text should be big enough)
2. 4 or more custom complications (excluding the above)
3. Minimal AOD (such as Time-only option to help avoid screen burn-in and save battery)
Hope this helps.
