Forgive me if this has been asked and answered but does anyone know if this feature can be forced on and off through Tasker or the likes like the 6P and Elementalx' high brightness mode?
Does this phone even have such a mode? My S7 has it, but the readability on the Mate 9 Pro is bad in sunlight!
the readability under sun light is excellent on mate 9... I use mine all the time outdoor.. the option exists in the developer option in setting menu..

Hello,
i have a Samsung Omnia7 without Branding, Nodo, and no locked.
When I set the brightness setting to middle or high (not automatic) then is the brightness good.
When i open the ie then the brightness is a little bit darker. Now i go in Landscape mode and the brightness is minimum.
I have the Firmware XEN1 from November 2010.
I hope you can help me to change this problem.

As far as I know this is hard-coded in the Samsung-driver. Though it should weaken only a little bit. This is to protect battery-life. The super-amoled display is already very bright.
But from high to low with one application. When i sit outside and surf with the IE then I turn in Landscape an the I see nothing because sunlight. Is that on every Samsung Phone or on Special RomĀ“s
Sorry for my bad english.
Hello everyone,
I noticed that after updating my Mate 8 to Android 7, my screen seems to have an Auto brightness functionality going on, even though I've turned auto-brightness off.
For example, when my screen is in direct sunlight, I notice that my apps are brighter, and when I cover my light sensor they become darker even though my brightness is set to max all the time.
Anyone know why this happens?

There is an option in developer options
Please check the screenshot.
Increase visibility under sunlight
Check if this option is turned on. If it is on then switch it off and see if your problem is resolved. :good:

Hey, thanks! I didn't know that option was there.
I've turned it off now, and I'll see if this fixes my issue.
Hoping someone can help, as I can't find the info from a search or even the S8+ user manual.
Regarding the Pro Mode settings on the camera, what it the maximum manual shutter time you can set?
I really love my Huawei P9 and its ability to go up to a 30 second exposure for some beautiful night shots. Can someone confirm what the S8+ can go up to?
Thanks.
Not sure if I'm reading this correctly but it looks like it goes up to 10 seconds.
Has anyone noticed how the auto-brightness tick box is no longer in quick settings menu with P20/P20 Pro? Its strange as older Huawei devices had it and even P20 Lite has it. I wonder why they eliminated it with EMUI 8.1/Oreo 8.1.
Didn't use Huawei before, but if you just set the brightness higher manually it won't go down automatically. (At least in my short test it didn't)
However if you set it to the lowest setting and shine heavy light on the phone it will go up.
Personally I don't feel like needing a toggle for that.
It's clever so in bright light it will brighten the phone but won't dimm it when in darkness.
I think it kind of resets after locking the phone.

After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S7 from Android 7 to 8.0 Always On Display is very dark. It's annoying especialy outside during sunny days, the clock is invisible then. Before upgrading it was automaticaly adjusting to the light, in dark room the clock was dark, in the very in illuminated surroundings was very bright. Now auto-brightness doesn't work. Any solution for this problem?
If not is there any chance to roll back to Android 7? I didn't find even one advntage in Android 8 and the problem with AOD is very BIG disadvantage for me.

I had this same problem. I just turned on the automatic brightness.
BTW in my case oreo just prefected my experience with android more smooth interface, longest battery life so far etc.
I have automatic brightness turned on but it doesn't work in AOD mode.
I think the AOD pictures are too dark for sure. i was trying to show someone my siamese cat one i bought outside in the sun and i couldn't see anything. not even the time.
I don't use any picture in AOD mode. I was always using it as a watch to check the time. Now I can't, in sunny days, because the clock is invisible
