Galaxy S7 AOSP Fingerprint Not working (Nougat) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with fingerprint scanner on AOSP rom. I believe I installed the N firmware model and bootloader already. My model is G30W8 of the S7.
I get a screen which prompts me to find the fingerprint scanner, the press next.
As soon as I do that, I get an error that says ""Enrolment was not completed Fingerprint enrolment didn't work . Try again or use a different finger""
I have tried two different roms (Slim Rom 7.1.1, and Lineage OS 14.1 (7.1.2)
Please let me know how to fix this. I do not think this is a hardware issue for me as it worked before AOSP rom.

Inquiry about OPPO R7plusf update!

Hi guys,
I hope all of you are fine, now after more than one year of usage of OPPO R7Plusf which was really amazing, it seems like OPPO has no plans to upgrade our phones, when I purchased my device a ColorOS version 2.0 was installed already and recently, it was upgraded to ColorOS version 2.1.0i (based on 5.1.1 Android Lollipop). Nowadays, all of us heard about the Nougat upgrade when we still dreaming with Marshmallow!!
So please, any suggestions for a custom ROM (tested) to upgrade my OPPO phone to Nougat version with no usual known errors or bugs. I will be grateful.
Notice: I contacted both customer support (the local one and the international) and I received the usual formal disappointed answer: "we will inform you when the update is available", which I think it will not be.
So thanks
Anybody here!?
Depends what you like
I currently use Resurrection remix on mine however there are some issues with apps force closing is my main one. Lineage OS also had issues for me with bluetooth causing the phone the reboot over and over. CM 13 was the best but I can't find any download links for it any more (rip CM) I think they both have updates coming outside but I recommend trying some out and then making a decision. Also if your phone is on one of the latest oppo updates (one of the 2016 updates) you'll have to downgrade to a 2015 software as they locked the bootloader so you won't be able to root! It's easy to do just find an old firmware from the internet (I would post links but I can't, also has to be a 2015 one) turn off the phone and turn it back on whilst holding down the volume down button and then go install and install the old firmware and then follow any guides on the internet for installing custom ROMs
Hope this helped

Lol, yeah. There is not much traffic here, but the R7Plusf is still awesome and up to date. Mainly due to good people at LineageOS keeping the device fresh.
I don't have serious issues with AICP on Nougat. No reboots. It is build "on top of" LineageOS, but have more features plus a working theming system. Latest build uploaded today.
Try RR, AICP and LineageOS and see what you like. Wait with Lineage untill the next release (current is Feb 14), if you want to avoid reboots.

Sure I will try one of your recommendations, but all I was afraid of was the disappointed bugs after updat such as battery drain, camera errors, wifi issues ... etc. Of course my ColorOS became boring to me, but still stable with no errors
Any pros or cons for those above I will be great full

Battery drain on MM has improved compared to Lollipop and N has improved over MM. With 4 email accounts running (on Aqua Mail) and Location on "High accuracy", Viber messenger and other stuff running, I had not much drain on AICP 11 (MM). Drain during night with Location on "Device" was 0.5% per hour. On MM and especially N, you have many ways in settings you can fine tune battery drain. Many apps are automatically shut down when not in use. You can decide which to limit and which to keep running when phone is off. Without extra apps (as ColorOS has), you can limit what apps are allowed to do and see. All built into the system.
A final word on drain: With Googles and others services running all the time, tracking everything you do, some drain is expected. Luckily this can be turned off by you
The number one reason to upgrade in these hacker friendly times: N is updated with much improved security. Updated every month with the latest security patches.
For me, AICP 11 is error free. The latest MM builds are complete in features and practically error free. Features are still being merged one at the time on N, but is useable as is now with only some minor issues.
I have not tried RR. My guess is that it has more features than AICP, but also more issues.
Lineage is the mother of all, I expect it to be stable with a good set of features.
All the N builds have more or less issues with speaker-phone. It may or may not bother you (or the person in the other end). MM was not affected as much as N, for some unknown reason.
I use Resurrection Rom and very happy with this rom!

Rana, first I'm sure you have been a good phone user and your Oppo R7 plus is upto date, unfortunately this is a problem. So first thing you need to do (Assuming you have unbricked your phone) is find a older version of the genuine R7+ firmware. Preferably some time between 2015- mid2016. The reason for this is OPPO locked the bootloader on later versions, these earlier versions are what the autoroot tool was designed to work on. Once you have this firmware, flash through recovery (provided you still have genuine OPPO recovery), if not you also need to flash this. Once you have the older firmware on your phone you should be able to proceed as usual steps to install lineage on your phone using typical walkthroughs.
what to do next?

As per my study the first thing I need to do it unlock bootloader, then do TWRP, then install any custom rom. (Please correct me if m wrong). Now please tell me how can i unlock my bootloader when I dont have access to fastboot by pressing power and Volume + key. Is there some other way. I have also tried the adb version 1.4.3 to get to the fastboot mode but it restarts my mobile to lock screen.

Download this rom https://www.dropbox.com/s/xmh77xyinz2iero/R7plusfEX_11_OTA_012_all_201512251816.zip?dl=0. Place it in your internal drive and flash it. It will install the ColorOS with an unlockable bootloader.
Even I'm facing the same issue. There are no such methods available on internet. I have ended bricking phone several times. Because since the last update oppo had limited tho access to bootloader. And the phone OPPO r7 plus f is quite old now so there's no people dealing with the issue. The only methods remain is to downgrade the firmware and repay the process again. Better look for some firmware version around mid 2015-2016early. I read somewhere that has access to bootloader. I haven't tried it personally but I hope the methods will work. Please let me know whatever the result is..

Need to downgrade s7 g930fd

Hello devs i need to downgrade s7 back to marshmallow.. is that possible by flashing m frimware ?
Anyone have tried downgrading back to Marshmallow after updating to dec security patches?
I've downgraded to MM from N a few times. Pretty simple, all you need to do is download the stock firmware from sammobile.com or updato.com and flash with Odin (both sites have a flash guide I believe).
Make sure you flash all 4 files.
Yeah bro??☺ successfully downgraded without any issues.. camera ,battery is far better in Marshmallow?
Bro.. fingerprint sensor is not working?.. while dailing *#0*# in sensor fingerprint it says initialisation failed..
I don't use the sensor so I never tested it during my roll backs. You flashed all 4 firmware files? BL, CP, CSC and AP?
Yeah ive flashed all 4.... fingerprint sensor is working only in nougat frimware..?
I know the bootloader differs in N to MM which impacts a few things but if you flashed all 4 it should be fine, I would suggesting trying to wipe cache/davlik but an Odin flash should have been a full wipe already.
Yeah..bro.. i hve cme back to n ..bzo of this issue
Is fingerprint wrng fr u?.. in mm
I don't have MM at the moment, it's been a couple months since I was doing my upgrades and roll backs
Hi all,
I need to downgrade a new g930fd (MFD 2018-01) as well to MM for xprivacy since I'm not one of the mass fools giving away all their accounts on their devices, everything on storage, phone numbers, IMEI, MAC address, etc. to every app that I need to run for my job, as well as every factory ROM and pre-installed app. Oh, I forgot to mention every app talking to like 5 or more mobile app tracking servers including graph.facebook.com!
Anyhow, I ran into the fingerprint sensor issue as well with downgrading to MM. It seems to be something to do with the S7's with a newer manufacture date since I have other older g930fd's I was able to downgrade and have the fingerprint sensor work fine.
It appears to be that the driver in Samsung MM ROMs isn't compatible with the newer fingerprint chips.
This is the only difference I could find in the sensor information:
Working Downgraded to MM Fingerprint Sensor
Flex ID 2291
Product ID 144
Sensor ID 4099
Non Working Downgraded to MM Fingerprint Sensor
Flex ID 295
Product ID 144
Sensor ID 4103
I'm guessing the fingerprint sensor drivers included in S7 MM firmware don't support the "Sensor ID 4103" chips yet. All we would have to do is move over the drivers to MM with root, but I have no idea how to do this.
Can anyone with ROM building experience that's migrated drivers help out here please?
Thanks!
Update:
It appears the "Version" displayed in *#0*# under FingerPrint test is actually the driver version since there is a separate FwVersion displayed when you hit SensorInfo.
From a shell,
ls /sys/module
Shows the fingerprint sensor as a kernel driver. It's the Egis ET320 Sensor.
So, sadly, apparently you can not use MM with a newer hardware revision of the ET320.
The only option would be to either find an older phone maybe someone could figure out how to get the newer driver out of the newer Samsung builds so we can have an external kernel module in /lib/modules/<kernel version>/extra
Samsung source code is freely downloadable here if anyone could please compile the ET320 driver into an externally loadable module and instruct on overriding...
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=g930f
Swapping the sensor out with an older version will not work since the fingerprint sensor is paired with a chip on the logic board as many who have tried to replace their home button have regrettably learned.
Update2:
I downloaded Nougot and MM Sources from Samsung and see that the fingerprint drivers have definitely been modified. There is a makefile for building the fingerprint driver, but I have no idea what's all involved with getting this going.
Anyone?
Can anyone help a brother out here?
What's the right thing to do - try to attempt to get just the driver compiled into a module that could possibly override the kernel module driver (if it's supported) and drop it in /lib/modules/<version>/extra or recompile the entire kernel with the newer drivers and figure out how to install it?

Downgrading to 6.0.1 Marshmallow breaks camera: "Camera Failed"

Hi guys! I have a galaxy s7 G930W8 (Canadian version). I've been trying to install Kali Nethunter for a couple weeks now. The only real requirement i need is Touchwiz 6.0.1. So first I tried using odin to flash the stock marshmallow firmware. Replacing the CP file usually broke my Bell service so i leave that empty and only flash the AP. But the Camera doesn't work. Next I tried Hydrarom 1.4, and again, everything working except the camera.
Right now I'm running Lineage Os, running nougat. Camera works. Same thing for stock Nougat firmware. Camera works. I guess what I'm looking for is a rom that is still being updated because hydrarom and stock marshmallow firmwares are from 2016. I heard about "Jesse's Note 7 rom for s7", but all the downloads seem to be broken. I even tried looking for the old lineage 13 but i'm unable to find that too.
Do you guys have any ideas? Rom suggestions? I enjoy the fully debloated roms without google or samsung. Thanks!

[Help] My SM-G930F - "Config has stopped" when I will set fingerprint, or password to
Hello friends of XDA, I have a Samsung galaxy S7 model GM-G930F, where it is running the rom Nougat stock, however is happening a very strange error. whenever I go to configure my fingerprint or a password to unlock the screen, it tells me the following error: Config Stopped, restart app. I restart the application but if I go back to configure the fingerprint, the same error happens. I've tried clearing cache in recovery, I already tested the stock 6.0 rom Mashmallow, and the same error remains at the time of configuring the fingerprint. All other configuration options, works outright, just this one of the problem. I managed to solve this, using a LineageOS 14.1 rom, with it I can configure password and fingerprint to unlock the device, on the other hand I lose several features of the camera where it does not shoot in 4k, does not shoot in 60fps FullHD, and the Samsung Gear application does not operate on this rom, the device notifies you that the system has changed and you can not run the application. so if in this LineageOS rom I can configure my fingerprint, what is happening with the rom stock that I can not do the same? if it were hardware problem the ROM lineage would also give problem, but it operates normally. I live in Brazil, and I tested the ROMS, destined for the country, but this device I realized is not from Brazil, so how do I know which rom will solve my problem? In summary, the stock roms 6.0 and 7.0 are giving problem in the screen lock setting, giving crash in app config. but the lineage does not, however it has limited capabilities of Camera and Samsung Gear.
Sorry for my English, I used the translator.
Anybody?

[Help Required] Need a camera fix for android 10 GSI

Hello, I have recently installed an android 10 gsi on my Huawei Honor 6x. The camera worked on emui 8 and after installation(which was hectic as I bricked my device and it took a lot of trials to get it out), the camera and flash just don't work.! Everything else works fine(except volte, which is a known issue).
So yeah, my camera and flash aren't working.. and whenever I power on my device, I get a warning "somethings wrong with the device, contact the manufacturer" (similar one).
Any ideas how to fix this?
