Can´t istall Google Apps - Android Apps and Games

Hi XDA, I was given a tablet to explore any chance of repair, having fallen from a considerable height, shell opened, broken sd card, a mess...
It´s a Samsung Wi-Fi only GT-P3110, serial nr. c0808d0058bc2af which had an Android 4.0.1 installed, but inoperative. I tried to put it together, a little glue, a new 8Gb sd card, but the system was unavailable.
Since I had the original cable and charger, connected to the pc, with proper drivers installed,
it was recognized by Windows, but that´s all. I tried flashing some roms and CWM/TWRP, all
with buggy behaviour, untill I found the CyanogenMod version 13.0.20160222-2054-UNOFFICIAL-p3110, flashed it, and it gave me access to Android 6.0.1. At last I got Wi-Fi connection and could surf the internet, with a basic flaw: no access to Google Services, even the simplest of apps, the Gmail app. On the site of Google store, trying to install anything, the device, contrary to my other Android devices, appears greyed out, so no installation whatsoever allowed. It´s awkward to have an Android device without access to Google store, services and apps, it´s almost useless!
Can you help? Can you show me the way to the needed access to Google services? Please!
Every time I try to install Google Services, the system hangs and I have to, in recovery, wipe everything and reflash the Rom and reinstall every app. I´m sure someone can provide me a link to download the proper and compatible zip file which I will flash and have Google Services available in the device.
Thank you for your time, and sincerely hope to get an answer from you. My email [email protected]
With my best regards
Luis

"Unfortunately google play store has stopped": what to do (general)

There are a gazillion threads on this topic, but most of them are about device-specific or carrier-specific problems. However google play store can stop for a number of reasons that are more generic. Googling them is a pain in the butt, as I recently discovered. This thread is intended as a place to collect them together. As well as checking here, it would be important to check on threads for your specific device and carrier, as they may have pushed a bad version.
Cause: Part-installed apps: something went wrong part-way through installing an app
Checking: Check in google play; if it says 'downloading' or 'installing' permanently, something is amiss
Solution: Try uninstalling the app (you may be able to reinstall it successfully afterward)
Cause: /mnt/sdcard is full
Checking: If you have a terminal, use the "df" command, otherwise use a capable file viewer
Solution: On a terminal, "cd /mnt/sdcard", then "du -s (dirname)" to check sizes, "rm -r (dirname)" to remove something (or use 'mv (dirname) /mnt/external_sd if you have an external sd card with some space). On a file viewer, move or remove relevant directories. You can't avoid this: if your sd card is full, you're definitely going to have to remove something (or move it to your external card) - the system isn't going to work with a full card. USE WITH CARE EITHER WAY. Whatever you remove cannot be retrieved, and removing the wrong thing can make your system or applications misbehave.
Cause: Corrupted data
Checking: Try the solutions in increasing order of severity.
Solution:
Go into Settings, then apps, then All, click on Google Play Store. Then:
Clear cache, Force stop, restart Google Play and retry
Go into Settings, then apps, then All, click on Google Play Store. Then:
Clear data, Force stop, restart Google Play and retry
Go into Settings, then Accounts and Sync, Click on your account, then on options icon, Remove account (ignore warnings - it's easy to restore)
Restart Google Play. It will ask you to add an account - add your original back in.
Cause: Corrupted binaries
Checking: Not sure how...
Solution: Install an updated binary. This thread always seems to have the latest. But you should probably check your device and vendor lists in case there is a device-specific binary (I think the more specific binaries currently just add a different skin, but further information would be good). You may also need to reinstall google play services (thanks jpeg1900)
Or:
"I just reflashed the same gapps in CWM over the first installation, rebooted and had to wait a few minutes before Play Store actually started working again." - Thanks Nephatiu (see below).
Please feel free to add further info below. I'll try to incorporate all good nuggets into this post.
PS anyone know a better way to do tables in this wiki?

Not sure. I had a similar problem at one time, and eventually discovered it was due to a specific app that had only half-installed itself (perhaps the tab had crashed halfway through the download, not sure, it's lost in the mists of time). Uninstalling that app got over the problem. However it might help someone (perhaps you) if you post the error message that you get on the display (people are likely to google it, so that you might get together with other people with the same problem).
I had issues with the Play Store earlier today and tried clearing the app cache and data to no avail, but found another simple fix. I uninstalled updates from version 3.8.15 back to 3.7.15. Worked like a charm.
Well, my Play Store recently crashed during updates, after which it wouldn't run any longer anymore stating that same message every time I try running it and also every time an app accesses the store for information (which seems to happen when I just open the apps). My sdcard wasn't full, clearing data and cache did nothing, no other data is corrupted, I replaced the market with a fresh copy apk, tried different versions, ... Nothing worked... So, reading the internet, I saw the final solution was to remove and re-add my Google account, but for some reason (not a rational one) I didn't really want to do this, so I went back to CWM recovery mode, reflashed the gapps zip I used the first time and rebooted... Once booted it didn't give me the error I usually get on any other boot since it started crashing, but when I tried running Play Store, it crashed again with the same message... Defeated I went to my Google accounts to remove, at which point (just before doing anything) I noticed the Updates-notification of the Play Store popping up in my notification drawer. I tapped it and Play Store booted, everything works again, and it updated itself back to the latest version, still without any problems.
So in short, if you don't ant to read the entire text:
I just reflashed the same gapps in CWM over the first installation, rebooted and had to wait a few minutes before Play Store actually started working again.
Dunno if this will work for anyone of you, 'cause it depends on the reason it's not working, but this possible solution should not be missing from your list since it worked for at least one person (me).

Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3
just download Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3
http://www.androiddrawer.com/11257/download-hotspot-shield-vpn-1-3-app-apk/
and google play store will work again
What does Hotspot Shield VPN 1.3 have to do with Google Play not working?
That is an app which creates a VPN so you can access sites that are locked or not authorized.
Personally I went into Settings than Application Manager, then ALL, then Google Play Store.
After that i cleared all the data, force stopped the app and restarted it again.
It worked nicely.

seems point 3 fixes it for me, but as soon as im back on the play store and starting to download something it just starts over again with the error message. Any ideas?
Not even sure how to describe this one..
Hardware: ASUS ME301T (MeMo Smart Pad 10)
Version: 4.2.1 (10.6.1.29, but it was happening on 10.6.1.25 as well)
Rooted, SuperSU installed for the multi-user support. Aside from that, the device is stock.
Play Store: 4.1.6 (4.0.something factory)
Setup:
2 users
Primary user has 2 Google accounts+FB account
Secondary user has a single Google account
Problem:
I have 43 apps installed on the primary user. If I install even 1 more, the app crashes when trying to load the list of installed apps. Doesn't seem to matter what the 44th app is. Uninstall it to drop it back to 43 and it works just fine again. Secondary user is at 46 and no issues. I've tried removing both Google accounts, clearing data+cache of the store, DMClient, and Download Manager, as well as removing the store updates. Nothing has worked. The only things left I can think of is trying to update the store manually via newer apk or a factory reset. I don't know what, if anything, ASUS changed in the store, as the installed size reports 10.46mb or so. Also want to avoid a reset for obvious pain-in-the-arse related reasons.
Any ideas?
I ran into a similar problem. After reading this thread, i tried a few of the suggestions. What ended up working for me was to go to the application manager, got to google play store, uninstall updates, and re install the factory version. Did the same for google play services.
same problem with 4.3.1.1
using a custom rom (LiquidSmooth) on a Galaxy Note II (N7100) international.
went through all the removing\reinstalling\clear cache tricks.. same error pops up every time i try to open the store, and sometimes just as a background process.
not sure if re-flashing will help... (cleared cache and dalvik too).
thoughts..?

No good ones, but just wondering - is there any possibility it's the 43rd app that is the root of the problem? Perhaps its data is corrupted in play's database, and adding another app reveals the problem.

Just in case you didn't try it, jpeg1900's suggestion of reinstalling google play services (rather than just google play) might be relevant here, in light of it crashing as a background process.

I am running Paranoid Android ROM and just wondered if changing hybrid profile of Google play store was contributing to app crashing?!?
note: I was able to open app but from opening menu could not go into any individual tabs (I.e. "apps") without crashing...
Changing hybrid settings back to lower DPI fixed issue and I have just set to the maximum DPI before app starts crashing
hope this helps others

If your problem is due to google sites being blocked by a firewall (your company's, your ISP's, your country's, or whatever) this may be helpful. Be aware that you will need a site on the other end, outside the firewall, to route your google play communications.
If that's not your problem, this solution won't help.
Usually you will know - only a few countries block google, it's highly unlikely that a commercial ISP would, and you will know whether you are trying to do updates on your company's network.
There's a host file in system-etc- delete that file and reboot your phone and see if that works..

[Q] Re-Googling My Chinese Android Phone

I bought a Chinese Android phone for my father, Pioneer E80W which runs Android 4.0.4. It works great except for one big problem - it has been de-googled!!! This is obviously a huge problem, as you cannot load a google account on there, so cannot sync contacts, cannot load Google play on there, Google Maps etc etc. It seems even if you find the APK file for a Google app, it won't install properly, whereas some from other developers will work.
I guess part of fixing it will be to root the phone, but Superoneclick says it is already rooted. This has made a great phone pretty useless. Help!!!!
Also, to double check, does anybody know a reliable source of apk files for things like Google Play as I always seem to get dragged into spammy sites that insist I load other software etc etc.

Pointers on how to run Google services on a Chinese market Android phone

Hey all,
I bought a LG V10 on my country’s gray market last week and realized too late that it was a H968 model, i.e. made for the Chinese market and without any Google service installed. Since returning the device is not an option, I’m stuck trying to get it to work.
It was initially on firmware H96810b-CMT-CN (Android 5.1.1, build number LMY47V, security patch level October 2015) but I managed to download and flash H96810d-CMT-CN (Android 5.1.1, build number LMY47V, security patch level January 2016) which seems to be the latest version available anywhere. I don’t dare flash another V10 model’s firmware due to being afraid of an unrecoverable hard brick.
I’ve also tried to unlock the bootloader, but so far no dice. I’ve already ticked the correct boxes in the Developer options, but adb reboot bootloader only reboots the phone normally, and the volume down+power method starts in factory reset mode instead. As a result, I think anything requiring a custom recovery or root is outside my reach. Custom ROMs for H968 don’t seem to exist either.
Anyway, I managed to sideload many of the Google APKs onto the phone in an attempt to get Google services working:
Backup Transport 5.1
Account Manager 5.1 *
Contacts Sync 5.1
Calendar Sync 5.1
Google Services Framework 4.4.4 **
Google Services 12.6.88
Google Play 10.3.12 ***
I’ve marked the problem packages with stars.
* Account Manager 5.0 or 5.1 don’t display any message errors but fail to load the login page while trying to enter a Google account. I bypassed that by downgrading to 4.4.4, creating the account, then upgrading the package back to 5.1. That seems to work.
** GSF 5.0 and 5.1 cause endless “Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” messages that cause the phone to be unusable until I uninstall GSF. GSF 4.4.4 is the most recent version of GSF that works without any error, which is weird for a 5.1.1 device.
*** Maybe linked to the previous error, but while most common Google apps (Search, Drive, GBoard, Keep, Calendar, Tasks) seem to work and sync fine under the current setup, I can’t log into the Play Store at all. I only get the infamous “Error retrieving information from server. [RH-01]”. Clearing caches and data doesn’t work, the error even happens on a fresh install after a factory reset. I’ve tried versions of Play Store as old as 8.7, 7.9 and even 5.5 but they all show that error. Unfortunately this means that most of my paid apps can’t be downloaded on this phone, or can’t check that I’ve already used in-app purchases to unlock paid features.
Any pointers would be welcome for how I could solve those issues.
Update: still no change except to notice that push notifications work randomly. FB lite and Telegram notifications work, Twitter/Discord/Hangouts notifications don’t. Google Services crash regularly, but not to the point of rendering the phone unusable.
I’ve been able to install apps using Yalp, but any app requiring access to the billing/in-app purchase service is unable to do so.

Motorola XT2125-4 EdgeS Help needed

Hi,
I purchased a new phone a Motorola Edge S (hardware SKU XT2125-4), unfortunately it is a China ROM phone which means it didn't come with Google play store. This was side loaded and I am able to install apps from google. But I have SO many issues with this and I am hoping someone has something helpful to actually use this phone
1. When I try to use Google setup a nearby device (to transfer everything over to this phone), it simply can't find my new phone (despite having bluetooth and location on for both phones
2. I can't restore contacts from google drive even though I can connect
3. I downloaded the MAGISK app, however the file browser is unable to install as the app is not allowed. The toggle to trust the app can not be changed.
I am at a loss as to how to actually use this phone as essentially it's useless at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.
It is already running Android Version 11
Baseband version M55_HI20_209.334.01.60R NIO_PVT_SUPERSDS_CUST
Kernel Version 4.19.136-perf+
Build Number RRN31.Q1-20-17-6
I can provide any / all other information if needed
If the solution is to root the phone, I'm ok with that too, but see point 3.
I'm in the same situation. Purchased the XT2125 as well. Got the Google stuff working by side loading the play store, services and framework. However, initially, while everything else was working, the contacts wouldn't sync. After a few hours of searching, finally came across an article which said that I also needed to side load an apk called google contacts sync and give it permission. Contacts started syncing after that. Fast forward a couple of days and a system update later, SMS are delivered with really long delays and outbound ones fail. Google maps crashes constantly and navigation just doesn't work. I don't know what to do with this phone now honestly, since I need Google maps navigation on a regular basis. Have tried reinstalling maps, resetting permissions, clearing cache and data but nothing seems to work. And with the SMS delay, I can't sign on our complete transactions on a lot of apps because the SMS usually arrives after such a delay that the code has expired. Feels like such a waste of money this phone even though it's supposed to be great bang for the buck.
I am hopeful that when they release the Moto G100 (same phone actually), that we will be able to flash it with this ROM to make it usable.

Yeah, I think it's being released in a couple of days. Anyway, I did a factory reset and the maps issues sorted out. Had to go through the pain of sideloading google again but the device is being shown as google play certified, but yeah, would be nice to just have the international rom on it.
Were you able to make any headway with your device? I didn't put a sim in mine but the rest of it seems to be working ok, except Youtube Vanced isn't signing in with a google account.

Later versions of Sygic Navigator does not work on my Samsung S5 Duos?

Hello XDA!
So here's the situation:
I used to have the Navigon app on my phone for navigation purposes and it was great, but then end of 2020 they (Navigon/Garmin) pulled the plug on the map/update/authorization servers. Even for users who paid for the product! I found this out the hard way when I reinstalled Navigon and it wanted to authorize the app for use (and couldn't find the servers)...
So since then I've been looking for another GPS app to take its place (OR a patched version of Navigon with the latest map set before they shut everything down that I could still continue to use the app)... It ticks me off that I won't be able to use it anymore. Oh well I guess it was worth the money for the years of use I got out of it....
I found Sygic GPS which seemed to be a competent package. The app installs fine from the Google Play Store, BUT it says something along the lines of "Something went wrong, restart the app" - it seems it can't reach the servers or something. I have tried sideloading the app as well and it still throws the same error. does anyone here know what is up with that?
Yes I also contacted the company that makes Sygic but they couldn't tell me anything useful either.
I can't spend money on an app that doesn't want to work.
So as it stands right now I don't really have a good usable GPS app for when I need it (no I don't like Google Maps)
Any help would be appreciated.
Looks to me the error is caused due to data storage and cache issues on your Android device.

Thank you for the suggestion, it's much appreciated.
However, I've tried installing it on my tablet as well and it throws the same error (both Google Play Store version and sideloaded version) the tablet is also Android 6.0.
I have given the app "all permissions" possible to allow it to use storage etc. but it hasn't worked....
I've Sygic GPS Navigation in use on my Huawei 7 ( 2019 ) running Android 8.1 ( EMUI ): It installed and runs perfectly.
Okay so, no one knows what may be causing this issue for me that I cannot run Sygic without it failing on Android 6.0.1? I have tried enabling Places services (GPS) in the phone settings and giving all permissions to the app, but it still fails to get to the point where you get to choose internal or external storage for the data (maps).
I know I can "just" put in the latest LineageOS and everything would be just fine (Sygic runs fine on an S5 with LineageOS 18.1) but it would be a lot of work to get that done backing up and transferring data and stuff, so IF there is a way to get the phone to behave with Sygic it would be very nice....
Any help is appreciated!
