Flashing my XT1042 to an XT1045 radio and unlocking bands - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/radio-xt1045-flashed-to-xt1042-t3061142
But there doesn't seem to be activity, so I'm trying a topic. I have the needed software -- QPST, QXDM, etc, but I can't find specific instructions on exactly what to change using what tool. Also my QPST doesn't seem to have NV Edit.
Can anybody help me with this?
Thanks!

D2G wrong IMEI

I have purchased D2G from eBay
IMEI which stated in "about phone" is 000000011234564
system version 4.5.629.A956.Verizon.en.US
Android version 2.3.4
Build number 4.5.1_57_D2GA-59
Under battery stated another (I think right) IMEI
Please help to restore IMEI
Some people change the IMEI to bypass the SIM unlock mechanism.
If you restore the IMEI (I think it can be done with CDMA Workshop, QPST and the likes), the phone will SIM lock itself.

photon q unlocking have got questions

id like to say iI solved both issues from the previous thread, battery had a small tear in the ribbon causing intermittent connection issues so here's the questions
1. I plan on doing the sim card mod to this unit and was wondering how the mod functioned in the states and what software/boot loader unlocking and or carrier unlocking can be done to accomplish this?
2. I attempted to unlock the boot loader last night and the Motorola website claims the unit is not unlockable the phone is from sprint and it is a photon q late, anyone else have unlocking issues?
3. I am no stranger to hardware modding, but am a ccomparative noob when it comes to boot loader unlocker and or carrier unlocking so advice in this area would be helpful as well, are they different or the same thing?

This is the only thing I can legitimately comment on. I just unlocked my replacement Photon and it took about 7 times of entering the adb id code into the Motorola site to actually get it right. :
- The fact that there are around 22 0's in a row doesn't help, double check your entry a few
- omit anything that isn't a single letter, number, etc (can't remember if they use symbols). The [info] or I think [bootloader] before each line, any spaces, etc.
- save your id and the email with your unlock code. Not sure if you'll need it but you never know

i got that same before, i ty many times and allways without success, but there is a motorola unlocking tool http://phandroid.com/2013/04/09/motorola-bootloader-unlock-2/ (download link on the bottom)
you must have root , unknow surces checked on and phone in debuging mode after you press run.bat from unziped file
regards
ok so i was able to acheive root, Fixed the bump shutoffs and fixed the fastboot dropping out issues, and actually managed to unlock the bootloader but now im planning on doing the Cornholio's sim card mod and want to know what software should be flashed b4 i mod the sim slot to flush out the old sprint garabage, also i noticed Cornholio mentioned that the "NV" needed editing to make the unit useable on GSM in the USA networks soo any further info would be very helpful
ok so i messed something up, got cmrcovery installed, an attempted to flash a custom rom, and well, it didnt work, it aborted half way though the installation and left me kinda cold, I can boot into CWM recovery but thats about it soo since this is my first attempt at all this I could use alil direction on how to correct this lil fubar anyone got any Advice?
Edit So phones now fixxed and booting again, Have Cwm version 6013 got the Stable version of cwm and the rom installed correctly and booted So heres the Question Of the Day, how Do i Edit the NV to get this sucker Usable On USA GSM NEtworks?
Same question! i have the hard mod and software mod done but it need to NV edit so that i can have it work on gsm networks with at&t.

You created a thread specifically for this question, which I answered. Why are you posting the same question in other threads?
the answere you gave me was for a different phone, after looking around alot of people were saying it would not work on photon and would brick the phone, I wanted to look around and get other people's advice. Thank you for the answer, if i cant find any other option i will try that method regurdless of risk.

If someone says that NV item 8322 edit does not work to enable US GSM network usage on Photon 4G (MB855 - NVIDIA Tegra 2 based device), then he's right.
But in the case of Photon Q 4G LTE (XT897 - Qualcomm MSM8960 based device), which is relevant in this forum, the NV item 8322 edit indeed works.
It has been already confirmed by numerous posts in here.
All Motorola MSM8960 devices introduced in 2012 are very similar and the NV item 8322 edit is proved to be the way to unlock the access to US GSM networks on all US carrier specific moto_msm8960 models. Photon Q is no exception in this regard.
You also need to use fsg.mbn from Atrix HD, older 4.1.1. Otherwise it will not work. Then in QPST you have to disable automated switch to CDMA. Tested personally & working.

Need assistant in unlocking LTE bands

I been following the guild here
.http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/general/lte-band-7-2600mhz-finally-guide-t2992523
and referencing the other guild regauding the LTE unlocking method for M9 that also works on M8

LS996 ZVB Root or Unlock SIM

I've searched until my fingers hurt, I've tried root tools and even paid One Click Root to root this phone. All I really want is to use my Tmobile SIM in this Sprint Flex 2. I have the SPC and it works, but I cannot find a place to enter an APN or allow it to read the SIM.
I need some guidance here. I've been in many menus, including the hidden menu, the "Setting Util" menu and the debug menu. I thought "Change Property" would do it, but that setting (to US and TMO) does not stick.
Any help is appreciated, as this is a brand-new, zero hour LS996 and I would like to use it...
Thanks!

Root won't get you anywhere. It's more likely going to be the modem and or software version. Like the G4 or G5 users are stuck with an OLD software version to even be able to use it with a GSM carrier. And most had to pay for a special service to get it unlocked and working

Question Can anyone tell me how to get my A125U to accept a repartition?

Attached are pictures of the error messages I'm getting. I've tried everything I come across on these forums, and nothing seems to fix the issue. Does anyone know how to get around this?

There should be a PIT file packaged into the AP.tar. You need to extract this and use it in the PIT tab in Odin.
See this guide

I guess I should have specified this in the original post. I'm trying to convert it from T-Mobile firmware to carrier unlocked firmware, which is exactly why I was trying to repartition the devices. Right now, it has TMB firmware on it, I'm trying to put XAA firmware on. I'm using the latest version of Patched Odin to try and accomplish that, and to the best of my knowledge, none of the files are corrupt.

Ah. Are you following a specific guide that tells you to do this? Carrier unlocking is generally done by the carrier in question. If you're the original owner of the device, contact TMobile and ask them to unlock your phone for use on another network. Your account must be paid off and in good standing to do this.
You can't unlock a phone simply by flashing new firmware, at least not to my knowledge.
A brief search through your post history shows that you already asked the relevant question, so it would appear that you're attempting to do something no one recommended without the knowledge that it will work.
It's better to ask questions before you try to do something you don't really know anything about, because the knowledge and expertise held by many here on XDA can save you a lot of pain. Trying to do things your own way can result in your device becoming no more useful than the average pebble.
As I said above, you cannot carrier unlock a device by flashing different firmware. It is hardware locked to the TMobile network, and to unlock it, the original owner and account holder must contact TMobile for the unlock code.
There are professional methods that can perform an unlock but this is not in the realm of the average user, and those tools are not available here.

It's not to carrier unlock it, the phone is already carrier unlocked. But the TMO firmware does not allow for OEM unlocking and comes with a ton of bloatware as well. From all the research I've done, flashing unlocked firmware solves both of those problems

What research where?
Is this a Snapdragon device?
You shouldn't need to repartition your device to flash a different CSC. However, flashing firmware with a different CSC won't enable OEM unlocking.

No, it's a MediaTek device. Honestly, I've read so much stuff, I wouldn't be able to remember where. I've read alot from here, as well as Stack Overflow and pretty much anywhere on the internet that looked like it had answers. I came away with the impression that carriers could choose to remove OEM Unlocking from their firmware, but that non-carrier firmware as a general rule of thumb would have that option available. As it stands, I don't have OEM Unlocking in my Developer Options at all

Well...Yes and no.
There are a couple of properties that determine whether OEM Unlocking is visible: ro.oem_unlock_supported which is set at build time, and sys.oem_unlock_allowed
The first one is generally set at build time. The second one can be dynamic, like if the OEM/carrier wants the device to normally be unlockable, but wants E.T. to phone home to determine whether it should be allowed.
It's hard to say what the circumstance is here. But, in most cases, simply flashing different firmware will not permit unlocking the bootloader; in fact, a locked bootloader will generally prevent flashing anything but the firmware intended for that specific device.
