Hi just wanted to ask everyone with a Mate 9 if it is possible to delete System apps. I have tried everything and no luck so far. Was always able to delete them on previous phones. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

Some pre installed applications can be uninstalled but system applications need root.
Thanks but I already have root and unlocked bootloader but still cannot delete System apps. Is this because the system is encrypted?

I am interested as well.
And do changes to the system partition survive a reboot? I read about a guy here at xda loosing the modification of his platform.xml after a restart.
Would it be possible to delete System apps by using adb commands on a PC?

No. System is not encrypted.
It is because system (cust, vendor, ...) is protected by Android security (dm-verity).
Try Device Control root from the play store. That's what I used to delete some system apps.

You may want to try system app remover on the play store. It worked for me on my Honor 8 running EMUI 4.1 and 5.0
Have tried at least 4 of these system app remover apps and all say uninstall successful but the apps are still there. Don't think we can uninstall system apps due to dm-verity protection of the system partition. Will have to wait for a developer to look into this

You need root access to remove stock apps. If you have a rooted device try Lucky Patcher apk. I think it will help you.
Yes, you can remove system apps using the Terminal Debloater in the downloads section of Magisk Manager.
Why not just disable them?
Hope this helps
On your home screen in an empty spot hold down untill you see widgets and wallpaper ect. Then hit settings and it should be the 3rd from the bottom. Hope this helps.

Some apps you can't disable, like Files, who know why.

I just tried Lucky Patcher and it was able to remove some apps, not all, but some. Obviously, some is better than none.
Just remember to do a TWRP backup first. I uninstalled Chrome and many other apps would not work.
I got the app from here.

Basically I was trying to get the pro version of titanium backup without having to pay the $6 for it on the play store. I tried that and it doesn't work of course. But now I can't get rid of it. I tired to uninstall it with the free version of titanium backup. It says uninstall complete, but the app icon is still there. When I hold on the icon and press uninstall, it says cannot uninstall because it has administrator access. And to uncheck it in the settings under device administration. But when I go there, the app isn't listed. I don't know what to do.

Unistall app
The first thing I would try is booting the phone up into safe mode
Then none of the apps you have install should be running and then you should be able to uninstall the app.
good luck
I was trying to install an app on my Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro with Android Oreo 8.0 but couldn't because there was some package name conflict. So I decided to uninstall the conflicting package using adb. The package was com.samsung.android.app.clockpack. I searched on Google about this package and the only information I got was that it was some clock like app whose APKs were available online. So I thought uninstalling it would be safe. But it turned out to be anything but safe.
The app which I was trying to install still had that conflicting package name problem and after uninstalling the package I realized that it was, in fact, the app required to show the clock on the lock screen. Initially I had no problem after uninstalling that package. The default clock faces were still present and it seemed as if nothing had changed. Only after a few minutes did I notice that the clock had disappeared from my phone's lock screen. I tried restarting the phone but to no avail.
I had taken the help of this XDA tutorial to uninstall that package. And I had read the warning about having to factory reset the phone to recover the uninstalled system apps. I was ready to face the situation if it arises.
In the same tutorial I also noticed this sentence:
This is a good thing, however, as it means that these applications truly aren’t being uninstalled from the device, they are just being uninstalled for the current user

So I want to know, if the app isn't truly uninstalled from my phone, is it possible to re-install it somehow? If it's possible then it'll be greatly helpful as it will save me from wasting my time to factor reset my phone and re-install all of my apps. Thank you.

Try using the exact same command that was used to "uninstall" the app for the current user, but this time, when you type the command, change "uninstall" to "install".
“pm install -k --user 0 <name of package>”
Instead of:
“pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package>”

I had tried doing that but it hadn't worked. Anyway, I have factory reset my phone. Thanks.
