Who's back? We're back.
CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
We only support Dynamic (Beans) GApps, reports on force closes with any other packages will be ignored.

FAQs (Please read before posting questions):
Q: Does this ROM support OMS?
A: Yes, full OMS7 support is present.
Q: What firmware do I need to be on?
A: Oxygen OS Open Beta 19 (OnePlus 3) / Open Beta 10 (OnePlus 3T). This answer will be updated as and when needed.
Q: Does the ROM work on both the OP3 and OP3T?
A: Read the thread title. Yes it does.
Q: Is the ROM rooted by default?
A: No, please flash your favorite root solution after installing the ROM.
Q: Is the camera good?
A: The ROM uses the device tree from Lineage OS. Expect similar quality. Feel free to install OnePlus Camera and try it out, but no support will be given for the same. As of writing this post, the latest build includes HAL3 support, so you can also use Google Camera, although Slow Motion doesn't work.
Q: Do I need to make a factory reset before installing this ROM?
A: If you're installing it for the first time, YES, a full factory reset is required. If you're moving from an unofficial build to official weeklies, A FULL WIPE IS REQUIRED. Otherwise, dirty flash would work fine. If you have any issues with Google apps crashing, flash your gapps again.
Q: VOLTE?
A: Theoretically yes, but I have not tested it. Fixed in the newest weeklies. Enjoy you Jio peasants
Q: SafetyNet?
A: Sure, if you use Magisk and enable Magisk hide.

You can say thanks by donating to CarbonROM, me or any of the contributors. It really helps.
Here are a few screenshots. The battery life displayed in them was obtained while constantly on either Wi-Fi or LTE (mostly LTE) with location services and sync on 100% of the time. Usage included heavy browsing and social media. Device is a OnePlus 3.

I cannot say for sure when weeklies will start. There is an updater app included in the ROM but I am not sure if you can upgrade to weekly from the unofficial ROM.
OMS7 patches are included

Originally yesterday, but FTP upload ****ed me up, don't know when I manage to fix that unfortunally, BUT OP3 will be among the first set. An OTA App is included, Substratum is fully supported.
Damn i last used carbon on my xperia ZR in the kitkat days. Looking forward to trying this out! Cheers
@drakonizer The github shows an trustzone query in the BoardConfig.mk but you haven't included a firmware link, might want to include this in your original post.

As long as they are using Nougat firmware, it should be fine. Some others have also removed it. LineageOS uses an outdated TZ check, and it was better to remove it temporarily. I may add it back in the future.

Installation Instructions
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST!
Coming from another rom/clean install:
Reboot to recovery.
Wipe system, cache, dalvik/art cache, data
Flash rom zip and gapps
Reboot
Updating from a previous build/dirty flash:
Wipe system, cache, dalvik/art cache in recovery
Flash rom zip, gapps and any other zips you may use
Reboot
MAGISK is included by default in all GZRoms. Do not flash Superuser/SU. Incase if you prefer other 'SU', you can flash magisk uninstaller (search) and proceed with your preferred SU, see below.
If you want root access, SuperSU will need to be flashed, v2.78 works for me. After flashing, your device may boot twice before boot animation, don't worry it'll be fine after that.
Some users reported 2.52 Beta worked for them.
You can use phhSuperuser as well for root access, get the it from here and you need to install the play store app also.
Substratum support is there as long as you have root and latest Substratum app. Some themes may have a little catching up to do, have fun testing them!
If you have any issues, grab a log after a clean flash, upload and link here please. Add steps to reproduce the issue in your post.
Do not report issues dirty flashing this over some another build or with some Custom Kernel flashed.
Logcat Extreme app is great as you can choose to start recording a log just before reproducing an error and stop recording just after so you log just the part you need.
Xposed is not supported here, if you want to run it and have issues, try an Xposed thread for support and bug reports here only welcome with a clean install with no Xposed present.
Selinux is permissive for now.
Make sure to state which rom you are running when asking for support

I added private Because I don't want to make any sort of misunderstanding with other thread started by DroidFreak32 at, i dont wanna create confusion among XDA members, and nor I wanna show any sort of disregard to any members my starting duplicate threads stating UNOFFICIAL !, From Me (As i want to express) i want to share my work, without conflicting with UNOFFICIAL thread.
If Private Builds convey something that means something inappropriate to GZR community, I am ready to change Thread Name/ Topic, Kindly Provide One !

If you want to make your builds official hit GZR on Telegram.Private Builds doesn't mean "Unofficial" so you must add Unofficial along with Private Builds (in Thread Title)OR without Private Builds(in Thread title).
I guess Private Builds sort of mean "Builds on Private server/host".
Ps- same as what @Char_G said.
Thank you for adding unofficial to the thread @aashishdamrait
I think this will be a meaningful improvement if you can cooperate with @DroidFreak32 . But, congratulations for your great work.

ohh no! Lastly I asked in his thread, will there be Official expectations? And he replied: to be an official a developer must have his phone. I think you and he are the right collaboration.
Because I'm also a GzR fan  But for now I still stand alone, to be able to find a really guarantee for the daily-driver.

But I do have the phone! It's just not my primary phone. I did mention in my thread it's my parent's phone
If this counts, I did contact a GZR team member recently to ask if I am worthy of being eligible to maintain all 3 of these ROMs officially. It's not like anyone can become an official maintainer just like that. You need to pass certain requirements (GZR g+ pinned post) . I just have to wait for their decision . If they think I am, great! If not I'll try to improve.
And also, @aashishdamrait, please don't take this negetively - I just don't see the point of having another thread for the same ROM.
But! If there are unique changes to your build, such as a custom kernel or few additional features that make your build stand out, then it's totally right to make this new thread.

Well, I think with you in collaboration with @DroidFreak32, you will get a lot of experience as well as new things about the problem as well as something important in ROM development. Because I see he has advanced in ROM development.
That way, I hope that the cooperation will really be realized, with that I am sure that this work can take you to a different level.

Thank you for all your efforts so far, both in innovation, intellectual and others.
Saying no to your performance is as impossible because I think you are one of the right people to manage it.
And with the presence of this new thread, you can embrace and cooperate, because I see @aashishdamrait also has a strong determination in bringing something new. Of course you say above, chances are he can contribute in support of your work.
What Xposed version would you recommend with this ROM?

For Flashlight, download any app from PS and it will work fine.
Else, wait for LeEco to Release N.
Why don't you answer straight mate. It will make life easier for both. And if you dont want to then don't post anything on xda.
Better than Lineag/RR/AOSP Extended ?

Yes.
Now LineageOS start providing official builds, and I've stopped building these nightlies.
I strongly recommend you to upgrade to official builds.
But you need to flash an extra zip package before flashing the official builds, or your phone will not boot correctly, because of the keys are different.
And this extra package can be downloaded here: https://blunden.se/migration
For more details please visit: https://wiki.lineageos.org/signing_builds.html#using-a-script
I've tested on my phone and it works. If you have any problem with it, please ask Lineage OS team. As I said before, I'm not an Android developer and I don't know what I said is correct or not.
Feel free to correct my mistakes.
Thanks everyone for choosing my builds.
P.S. OpenGAPPs will still be built until there is a official build.
LineageOS Android Distribution is a free and open-source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers, based on the Android mobile platform. It is the successor to the highly popular custom ROM CyanogenMod, from which it was forked in December 2016 when Cyanogen Inc. announced it was discontinuing development and shut down the infrastructure behind the project. Since Cyanogen Inc. retained the rights to the Cyanogen name, the project rebranded its fork as LineageOS.

I've started nightly builds since November, 2017, and now the auto build scripts seems to be stable enough and I've finally be able to open a thread in Development part of the forum.
I build these nightly builds on my server automatically, without any modification to the code.
If you met any problem with the ROM itself, please contact the maintainers of LineageOS as well but not just me.
If you are interested in the script I'm using, please contact me (Because... those scripts are ugly...).
WARNINGS:
All the builds are provided AS IS with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, use it at your own risk. It's impossible for me to test every build by my self. If you can confirm the build can work correctly, please let us know.
These builds are directly build from latest source code on GitHub, so it may not contain some "important fixes". If you care about stability, please check out the official maintainer's build.
Once there is an official build of LineageOS 15.0/15.1, I will stop building these nightlies. Seems the official maintainer don't like what I'm doing right now.
I'm not Android developer, I provide these builds is just because I want. I thought some one may need it so I opened threads here.
Important Notes:
In order to make it work correctly, please flash the stock {vendor, radio, bootloader} images before flashing the builds. Those images can downloaded at here (For 15.1, OPM3.171019.013, Jan 2018) and here (For 15.0, OPR6.170623.013, Aug 2017).
Please use TWRP 3.2.0 or newer to flash this ROM. It can be found at here.
Downloads:
LineageOS 15.1: https://dl.v2bv.net/los15.1
LineageOS 15.0: https://dl.v2bv.net/los15
Since there are no official release of OpenGAPPs for Android 8.1, I will also provide it (them?) at https://dl.v2bv.net/opengapps.
(These OpenGAPPs builds are also build from latest sources.)
Known issue:
Please checkout #2.
If you met "E3004: This package is for device: bullhead; this device is ." while flashing these builds, that means you have to use TWRP 3.2.0 or newer instead of the version you are using.
Explanation from @razorloves :
"it's not a problem in lineage. TWRP uses a legacy property service that does not work with oreo roms. That's why the getprop is failing."
"To fix it, you would need to build a new version of twrp and define TW_NO_LEGACY_PROPS := true"
Credits:
Thanks to all of the LineageOS developers for brining us this awesome ROM.
Update 2018-01-29:
The OpenGAPPs builds have some problem, Google Play service keeps crashing.
So you can wait for further build or use other GAPPs that confirmed working.
(I'm not an Android developer and I'm not familiar with GAPPs, so I can't help anything with that.)
Very exciting. I look forward to reading how this performs.
OP, i guess you're trying to contribute, but your builds are missing important fixes.
EDIT: Even your gapps are missing important fixes.
Besides, I guess you overlooked it, but there's already unofficial nightly builds that are compiled from lineage source code, by the actual lineage 5X maintainer here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...rom-lineageos-15-1-nexus-5x-bullhead-t3724575

So... which fixes I've missed? I pull the latest source everyday. If there's nothing wrong with the manifest, it's impossible for me to miss such an important thing unless you didn't push them to the main repo.
Also, by nightly, I mean it builds *everyday*.
Anyway, thanks for maintaining the support for the device.

As I said before, all of the builds are compiled from the latest source *including* OpenGAPPs and provided *AS IS*.
I'm only responsible for building it, but it's your responsibility as a maintainer to fix the code and *push* to the upstream.
You have a "fixed" version, it's OK, just let users to choose between your builds and mine.
I provide these builds just because I want, as well as the there are no official builds yet.
In fact I personally don't care which one they choose, I just provide another choice which updates *daily* and *directly* from upstream.
I'm willing to accept any *helpful advices* but you didn't give any, it's helpless for both of us wasting time on this meaningless argue.
thanks man

I've tested the latest build of both LineageOS and OpenGAPPs on my Nexus 5X and I didn't find anything obviously wrong.
So what are the "important fixes"?
EDIT: Yep, there are something wrong with the GAPPs, but that's not my problem ╮(╯_╰)╭

Well, I think it won't work because of the signature of the builds are different.
I'm going to ask Lineage OS Team to provide a migration build just like the 14.X builds last year.
I will continue building them until they've provide a migration build but the frequency will be lowered.

I think you can do it but I recommend you to flash the official builds.
But you'll have to re-modify the boot.img, I guess.
I don't really no much about it, you may need to ask others.

Well, I asked this problem on their IRC channel, and they showed me this https://wiki.lineageos.org/signing_builds.html#using-a-script . This is how to migrate to Official builds.
In short, you need to flash this zip package before flashing official build. I've tested on my phone and it can work.
So I'm gonna stop building nightlies.

Let me tell you what's wrong with me.
As I said, I'm not an Android developer and I've just started to use Android since 2016 (Yep, Nexus 5X is my first Android phone).
I'm always willing to contribute but I don't have the ability to do it, because I never studied Android development.
Last year, I saw there are LOS 15.0 source code but no builds yet, and I just got a dedicated server, so I start to build them. And I opened a post in this forum, which is the old thread.
Then you shown up. You told me there are two patches I need to merge. I was really thankful. But I've already said that all my builds are compiled from latest source code, so it doesn't matter, and I told you so. But you replied me as this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...15-0-daily-builds-nexus-t3678655/post74707009
Don't you think it's very unrespectful? And I tried to be friendly at that time.
Then, I got the permission to open a thread in the development part of Nexus 5X subforum. And I opened this thread. Then you shown up again. Saying I have missed important fixes, without telling me what I've missed; And you advertise your builds in MY thread.
I don't know if it is unrespectful to you, but it's extremely rude in my perspective.
I asked you, what are those fixes, and you didn't respond.
That's rude³.
Today I asked the question of migration at LineageOS channel on IRC, and I saw you, so I ask you again, what are those fixes.
That's what's wrong with me. I shouldn't done all of these.
I'm not a interesting/friendly person, English is also not my first language. And I may say something rude to you, or made you feel being unrespected, too. I'm sorry about that. I'm really sorry.
Well, I don't expect you to forgive me, I don't care about it.
I really admire you and other developers who contributed to the project. But that doesn't mean you guys can be or should be unrespectful to others.
Right now I'm done with it. I'll never touch this again.
That's all I want to say, if you want to block me or ban me from the forum, do it, I don't care.

Great team for a great device !
So let me do my first feedback :
- very smooth, better than MIUI 10
- charging battery is very very slow
- Need to flash 2 times Magisk
- WiFi desappear after start or reboot (I would like to keep it at start)
- No need SMS/MMS app
- dark theme is not working
That is my first feedback. I haven't test radio yet.
Nice job, thank you !

I see zero problems with this. Good work gets credit and is used by others. Why would you want to force GuaiYiHU to maintain dozens of roms?
Sad to see so much hate for Xiaomi's decisions to finally open source their code for developement and sharing excitement with development of different user experiences.

this didn't fix it for me. i went into root explorer and replaced the file that existed already. I pair with bluetooth and the problem is it just won't output the sound to the speaker or headphones. when you go to sound output the speaker or headphones are listed but it won't let you select either one. the sound comes out of the tablet speakers no matter what.

I think he and I were referring to a sudden influx of ROMs in development section, it happens to many devices with only couple of people actually working on a code and all others copying their code. It was always like that, nothing new under the sun.
There's no hate here and this ROM is good
