Does the CPU have AES-NI or something? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I have been having NordVPN app connect 100% of the time on this phone, and have yet to see any battery drain. I randomly check my IP address and a DNS Leak test, and Nord is fully operational etc.
The battery life on this phone has been unreal so far.

My battery life has been way better than expected. Don't know the answer to your other question.

Yeah, I fully expected it to be as good as my S7 edge (which id say was "ok"), but this thing hardly uses any power.

Hot Nexus with MIUI

It seems like my phone runs warmer than normal with MIUI. Same thing mightve happened with Brainmasters. Charging can be also slower maybe unless i charge the phone while off. Anyone have an idea of what could be the cause?

Miui naturally drains battery faster. It has many additional 'features' that take up more CPU resources and thus brings down the battery along with it. The reason the charge takes longer is probably because more battery is used while charging. It is natural to have battery draining fast issues with miui, still it is a great rom and I love it. Hope that answers your question

I'm running Miui right now, it may have most likely been a data issue. I tried Wi-Fi and the phone wasn't running as warm or hot. I turned the data to automatic instead of 3g only and things have been better. If you had/have the same problem then try turning data to automatic in the settings. Yes this rom has more features but I haven't had those issues with Miui on the Droid X/Dinc. My issue has been solved though, has been my main rom lately.

[Q] Battery life getting better after charges?

I flash my Crespo a lot and I notice that if I stick with a ROM, use and charge my phone a few times with it, the battery life, which is not so good at first, gets better and better after a few charging cycles. Anyone experiencing too?
Nope. Maybe you're using the phone less since you probably take a few days getting everything set up and syncing first time around

Like he said it's probably just due to you not having to set things up and get everything sync'd. There is no scientific reason for what you're describing.

[Q] Should I use Greenify?

I am on stock 4.4.2, rooted. Just want to know should I use Greenify to extend my battery life?
Is KitKat 4.4.2 app-cached mechanism not better than that?
I don't and never have and never had any need to

Depends on your usage.
Might work for some, not for others.
Install and try for yourself, do some objective testing before and after to see if it makes any difference for you
Handy to control apps you don't use regularly from running on the background. Actual effect on battery life. Well don't expect miracles.

Greenify is the only one from that endless battery safer tools This really has a positive effect. Clear recommendation, even if I do not understand why you needed for a new thread. Such things do you test yourself

Well, don't discuss the battery It's good enough for many but not for everyone. I'll plan to use a recharge pack if I need more battery power. Most of the times I have a bag or something else with me so that I can put a recharger pack into it for the case I run out of battery.
Sure, a better internal battery is better, but I can live with that.
Greenify is a great tool to have so that you can have a broad selection of apps on your device without worrying about it weighing down the OS in bloat. Lots of apps unnecessarily start in the background or ask to be notified on state changes or when the device is unlocked, which can lead to sluggishness and/or battery life degradation. For example my banking app does this, and I never need my banking app to run unless I explicitly press on that damn icon. But I don't want to get rid of my banking app due to it's bad behavior, because it's truly a useful app. That is where greenify shines.

I have a few apps that definitely will hurt the battery if left running...so greenify let's me still have those apps and not worry about them impacting my battery. To me greenify is on my must have list. ?
And to backup another's post, yes...the N5 CAN have battery life that rivals other great battery life phones. I get over 24 hours with 6 plus hours screen time easily. But...its all about how you set up your phone...and how you use it. "Average" battery times are hard to compare, since we all are setup different and do different things with our phones.
But yes, battery life CAN be brilliant.... Or it can be average.

Check your wakelocks to see if any apps are keeping your phone awake.

Haven't had a need for battery savers ever. I just monitor what my system is doing and figure out how to mitigate it without another app to run.

Hahaha... Not sure? Take a look below "What's new"... I mean really?!
they make it sounds like the slightly warmer color around the edge is by design lol
hmm, holding off. Any word on how this affects performance or battery life? Mine is great and from past experiences with the s7e updates eventually affect battery life.

How to use android phone as live stream webcam?

I am wondering if anyone knows how to use an android phone (especially a galaxy s5) as a live streaming webcam?
I tried some app in the past (I dont remember name) and when I tried to live stream to youtube, the battery had some issue where it drained really fast.
I'd like to use the back camera as a webcam to live stream to youtube instead of having to buy a separate webcam or camera.

Get a camera, you'll get better results, better battery life and it will be easier.
I doubt any phone would do this without draining battery quickly.

What about if the phone is plugged in? Would that helped the phone stay charged?

Maybe, it might at least prolong how quickly it drains, no guarantees though.
I still suggest that you get an actual camera though, you'll eventually be dissatisfied with using the phone anyway, so may as well just give in and quit trying to be cheap, otherwise, you aren't that serious about what you want to do on YouTube.
Cameras are pretty cheap these days, do yourself a favor and make the smart choice, you won't regret it.

there are many guides out there how to do it. but the battery is the issue. it will use power more than it can charged. also the phone will get very hot.
