Is it possible to convert Single Sim to Dual Sim? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm about to purchase a Z5 (I know that is has 2 years now, but on a sale I think it's still a good buy). I'm wondering if it is possible to convert E6653 to E6683. I have a Huawei P8 lite and I have done it using https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/guide-debranding-converting-single-sim-t3305977 . Is there any thing similar for the Z5?
Thanks

Is this really possible ?

I think NOT possible. Hardware should support this. After looking sim tray for both models, not possible to do that.

I agree that the hardware must support. In the P8 lite the trays are separated but the second SIM tray holds either the sdcard or the second SIM. You can see it in this picture that the SIM is put on the side
. So the Z5 single SIM tray might hold 2 SIM as well. The question is if the Z5 hardware will read the second SIM in that position (and then the software would have to be dual SIM, of course).
Thanks

Not detecting microsim

The phone doesn't detect the sim, it was cut by me. Used to be a normal sim, works on other phones but not on this one. I believe its supposed to click when it goes in but that doesnt happen ofc.
I was wondering if there was anyway to get this sim to work.
TIA.
Please contact service provider they will issue microsim @ cheap price, don't put pressure might be your sim slot will break

You may have cutted out part of the chip, could you post a picture of the sim (chip side)?
Yes, it's supposed to click.
Best thing would be asking your carrier to replace it with an actual microsim

Well it actually doesn't seem well cut...
I'd suggest to trim it and try again before going to the carrier's shop!
I tried to make it better... Didn't make any difference.. Ty anyway

Sim Tray Replacement

Has anyone done this? I recently purchased a replacement module on eBay and there's a few things that are different mainly some contact tabs and some sort or speaker looking thing.

If anyone can tell me if this will work fine besides the differences, I'd really appreciate it.

Nobody has replaced the sim tray in here? I thought this was a common failure in these phones?

You are the first one I can recall... Have you tried any of the Youtube videos, they are usually quite helpful. Found this one in a couple seconds of Googling https://youtu.be/ayB1v79n4Iw

Sorry... I didn't watch the whole thing, thought it might help. I do know there are single and dual SIM variations of the G3, perhaps you got the wrong one?

SIM card tray destroyed

Hello everyone
Few weeks ago I destroyed by error the SIM card tray and now all the pins inside are broken or bent.
I'm not using this phone anymore but it served me for many years and it has been a great companion so it deserves to be repaired
I haven't opened the phine yet so I can't say how bad is the damage but I was thinking I might have to replace the whole motherboard but if this means that I will lose my data, I would prefer to replace just the SIM card module
Does anyone have any recommendations for proceeding in this direction?
The Lumia is a 64GB model operator and country unlock.
Thanks!

Try eBay or AliExpress. You could find what you want.

Sure, there are plenty of places where I can find that piece
I was hoping in some other type of advice, possibly from someone who has already done it...

Unlocking LTE Bands 4 and 17 on M2 aqua D2403?

Yes, the title sums up what I'm curious about.
Turns out I got an Xperia M2 Aqua with a broken display as a hand-me-down from a friend. I fixed it and it's working great! (check the pics if you'd like).
Spoiler: Pictures of the process
Back cover popped open:

It's alive!
It works and looks great!
... except for the lack of proper LTE bands for my carrier, specifically bands 4 and 17. So yeah, it's currently stuck on 3G/HSPA, which is fine for chatting and checking email, but can be a bother for more intensive tasks.
I know there's another model of the M2 aqua which properly supports such bands: the D2406. Would cross-flashing the modem/baseband from that model do anything?
I actually thought about doing a motherboard swap but I would have to dumpster-dive the local phone repair market to get a motherboard from that specific model (or buy one online), and I can no longer justify the cost, time and effort haha.
I remember reading some LTE band unlocking tutorials for qcomm phones which used the USB diagnostics mode and QXDM or QPST for altering raw values. It seems very risky, that's why I'd rather ask if someone here has had a positive experience in this area, and if so, I'd ask for guidance or advice on the matter.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Question eSIM not working (Vodafone UK)

Whenever I try to activate an eSIM in my 7 Pro (using a fresh eSIM generated from Vodafone UK) I get an error of:
Subject code: 8.1.1
Reason code: 3.8
... utter crap - can't this phone even get the basics right?
Mine worked fine yesterday on Vodafone UK with my Pixel 7 Pro. Scanned the QR code from the pdf emailed to me and it activated immediately.
I've re-created the QRCode about 10 times now. Each time it fails to activate on the Pixel 7 Pro, but works perfectly on an Oppo Find X5 Pro
Have you tried to manually add it?
I imagine Vodafone will claim it's unsupported and be no help.
Hey, did you get this sorted? I have exactly the same issue on VFUK.
guys, any update?
I want this phone, but I use 2 sims (1psim, 1esim) and my esim doesn't work. It's a dealbreaker for me

I have ee physical sim and vodafone E sim. Working perfectly. If you're having issues I'd imagine vodafone would be the best place to start
I think your previous eaim isn't clearly dwactivated from old device.
