Hi all is there any way to get different fonts on s8 without root please?cheers - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

If you're looking for more than the included fonts @Bautinho88 mentioned, I believe you can download more from the samsung app store. There might be other ways, but I haven't found any others yet.

monotype flipfont samsung
Yo, check out "Trend Font" the apk is not found on play store, so its "unknown sources" and giyf !!
You then have the choice of 39 fonts to install, with no more annoying messages from your awesome new phone.
I tested a few with success on my unrooted s8+
You may then even upload your own personal favorite font, and they may add it to the list for you.
once the font you want is installed you can uninstall Trend Font if you want.
These fonts have also been tested on all galaxy devices including S8, S8+, S7 and S7 edge.
==============EDIT==================
A few dudes out there had issues with this app for reasons unknown to me.
To save anyone else any further hassle, I have collected them all and uploaded a zip with the lot
There are 39 fonts here.
Ps would love "storopia" or "clockopia" if anyone has the skillz to provide? Thanks
= = = = = = = = EVEN MORE EDIT = = = = = = =
There are a total of 73 fonts on the following link -->https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72112717&postcount=24
============ EVEN MORE UBER EDIT ====
Want roboto ? Try this : (not BOLD or CONDENSED...)

the only thing this app will do for you successfully is deliver ads. Even when you click the X on the ad, it takes you to the ads site or app. Waste of time, does not work for Samsung Galaxy S series phones.

I tried just about everything on the S7E to get a font I wanted, samsung doesn't even offer it or i'd have purchased it to save the trouble I went through. I tried over a dozen apps and none of them worked. It just doesn't appear possible. The phone would kick back anything as an unrecognized font (regardless of font format even)

Mate, works for me, otherwise why would i post ?
Open app with data and Wi-Fi off, select your font, turn only DATA back on, then try Selecting the font you want again.
Someone else thanked me so maybe you have other problemo your end?
Attached are three I picked as random as proof this works... I'm using adhell if that makes any difference?
Otherwise I will fetch them all for the community, but my balls are aching at the thought of doing this 50 times when I got the one I wanted first time honest!

EDIT - Updated other post with all the fonts there for you all, I put them there as there are already screen shots to go with them.

Samsung phones only accept fonts developed by Monotype Imaging Inc. There are a few on the Play Store, although some of them are quite goofy looking, there were one or two that I liked.
Only other place to get custom fonts is Samsung Galaxy Apps Store, and over there most of them aren't even in English, so I've decided to stick with the default font.

Not a big fan of the fonts shown in the screenshots, are there more or is that it?
There was a way to get Roboto Light before Samsung patched that way in December 2015 and since then I've only been able to get MonoType fonts to work correctly.

Is this a way to get rid of the cryptic asian style emoji that samsungs come with? I cannot understand what most of them even mean.

I should probably point out I did this on a desktop computer. It does automatically download the "downloader" file, which I then deleted. But then it gives the direct download option, which allows downloading the font apk file. I transferred that to my phone, which installed the font.
But it only works for Monotype fonts...RobotoCondensed-Bold is not one of them.

Vibrant System fonts for Captivate

Unlike the Vibrant, the Captivate only came with one system font. Is there any way to grab these from the Vibrant??
I really don't want to install a Market app just to be able to change the fonts.
it uses all the same fonts, not sure what fonts your are talking about.

When I go into the Display settings there is a selection to change the font. There are two choices. Default and Download Fonts.
My friends Vibrant came with 5 or 6 fonts pre-installed. AT&T chose to remove them.
Those are the fonts I am talking about.
Flashing with the Stock Galaxy S I9000 on Captivate I have additional fonts...
OK, just found them... I was looking in the wrong place. Checked it out on my friends Vibrant, there are 3 additional fonts. Ill post them up soon.
here ya go;

extract and install all 3 apks, then you will have all three fonts available
Thanks!!
.............
thanks x2.
Thanks, appreciate it.
I installed the apks, and I see them under the font menu ... I selected one (jazz) and rebooted, but I saw no difference in fonts anywhere.
What is this supposed to impact?

After installing apk's
Goto Settings > Sound & Display > Fonts
Select font from there.
On a similar note, has anyone pulled any of the 3rd party apps from i9000? They have a nav app, and Vlingo i think. The nav app looks a lot more polished then google's.

Right, I did that and selected Jazz. I see them in the menu. It then told me to reboot to see the changes. I rebooted and I see no change. I checked the Font menu again, and it showed me using Jazz.
Worked great for me! Thanks!!
Same as other said installed and switched font restart phone and looks same as before. Not.working here either

I did the SRE mod from the development page and had the font changed for a while. I took the battery out so I could get at the SIM card so I could activate a jailbroken IPhone through ITunes, and haven't been able to get the font working again since I booted back up. Tried switching to a different font, and tried switching to the system font and back. Tried rebooting and shutting down and restarting but I can't seem to get it to change the fonts anymore. I really liked the font change a lot. Any suggestions on how I can reload the fonts?
Edit, nevermind... just tried it again for the hell of it and it's working fine now. Go figure!
thank you so much!!!!!!!
I've been using these for a few hours and love it so much. It makes the whole phone so much better! Thanx again!!!!

[APP] Font Changer 4.0.4 [29/09/12]

This app is no longer being updated and may cause issues on newer versions of Android. Use at your own risk!
Description
Font Changer allows you to change the font on your Android device. Some (most likely people from the HTC Desire forum section) may be familiar with an older version which required flashing an update, however these two versions don't require it (check the requirements section for more).
Basically you can put your TTF fonts in /sdcard/.fontchanger/ (location can be changed in the settings) and then you can apply a font once they have been found by the application (inside Font Changer there are more detailed instructions on how to do this). You can also set the fonts individually using the advanced mode. It works just by copying the selected font to the system partition and overwriting the current font. Backup is automatic, although occasionally it breaks resulting in the need to fix the fonts manually or with an update (usually the cause of messing with the fonts alongside with Font Changer).
Font Changer used to only have a paid version for the past few months, but with the new Market changes I have decided to add a free version. While most cancellations happen within a few minutes after purchase, not all do... and 15 minutes is just too short! Plus some people are not in a country where they are allowed to buy paid apps. Anyway, that's my reasoning.
The application should be removed from its settings to restore the default fonts and density. More information can be found on its Market page and inside the application.
Requirements
root
system write access (aka NAND unlock or S-OFF)
busybox
custom recovery (not a requirement per-se, but highly recommended in case something goes wrong)
Reviews
DroidDog
Coming Features
Fix up setting custom website for preview
Set dark/white theme
Rework UI for the font picker
Rework UI for the density changer
Need some icons for the Basic/Advanced tabs
Add more fonts to be replaced in Basic mode
Check font integrity
Shake for a random font
Really thanks for share.

OK, done. Although if your signature is correct and you have a GT540, Font Changer doesn't have support for it yet as I need some information to identify the device (the person with a GT540 who was helping me has gone somewhat quiet and I haven't managed to finish it without his input).

1. There are multiple rooting methods for the GT540, and some of them work with Font Changer and others don't. I'm afraid I don't have any specific information on this. If 1 works, then check out 2.
2. The GT540 uses different fonts than the default Android ones. I know which ones and already have the code in the application to make it work, however all I need is to identify the device for which I require someone with a GT540 willing to help.
Anyway, feel free to give it a try and see what will happen.
Tried right now, works well. Looks **** cause of fail font.

OK, your one works because you have CM which uses default Android fonts
You're welcome.
Version 1.7.1.3 has been released, per-user request.
It is now possible to specify in the settings whether the regular font should be used to replace the clock, or whether the default clock font should be used. Some ROMs make use of the clock font, others don't, so the option may not have an effect for everyone.
Doesn't work for me on rooted GT540 with stock Android 2.1 update. I am willing to help with any testing.
I've ben using this app for a while (paid version) and it works very well.
Seems to work on the HTC Vision /G2/Desire Z. Thanks a lot! (Got the paid version to support development)

Hi there. It doesn't work as in when you set the font it does nothing?
If that's what happens then you could try running the app which I attached in this post and send the report which it generates by GMail, or any other method that works for you. I'm missing identification information for the GT540.

Thank you, I added those devices to the supported list. A little surprised that they all have full root since they only came out recently. On the Desire we had to wait for a while... >_<
And thanks to all those who bought from the Market to support development, it's greatly appreciated.
Very nice app. Thank you for developing it! Works perfect on HTC Desire
It seems that only ttf files are working, if anybody has a font which is otf for instance you can convert them here http://onlinefontconverter.com/

Just a second. You are giving me conflicting information. Did it say you don't have system write access OR root? Both will never be shown at the same time, I checked the code twice just now.
EDIT: Never mind, I was able to see that page. I'll get back to you soon hopefully.
it said it doesnt have write access. didnt say anything about root. sorry about that
EDIT: it said it didnt have full root. i must be tired, or something, lol.

What format has this file?
Is this a apk or a zip?
I only can download a zip file.
When i want to install it with CWM Recovery it always comes the message that the installation was aborted.
And is this the original feature from the S6 Edge or a selfmade feature?

[THEME][MOD][6.0.1] TW Customizations For Note 4 N910V

First off I want to give a HUGE thanks to @supergrobi94 who pretty much did all of the heavy lifting for this project. He designed the apks and flashable zips that we are using and gave us permission to modify them for the Verizon variant. His work can be found here: Thread
I've been working with @kevintm78 to get some modified system apps with custom icons and such. I've spent a lot of time to try and alter the icons and spacing to make sure that it looks the way I want on the note 4.
If we decide to work on other themes we'll be posting them here. I'm hoping to get a dark background version of the settings and some darker notifications, but we'll see how it goes since apparently that's pretty hard.
I've attached a few screenshots below to give a taste of what it looks like and you can download it while we work on other themes. The first two are for this mod.
I've tested it on PaulPizz's CPF3 ROM v3.2 and it works fine, but it is based off of the N910F so there may be some bugs. Make sure to do a backup before flashing and understand that you are flashing this at your own risk. I will try to support it, but honestly I'm a little out of my league here. There is a lot of trial and error with the Samsung apks because they make them proprietary. Anyway, Enjoy!
Download Link: AOSPTheme
Themes for ROMs with Theme Store: ThemeStoreThemes
Recently I have been enjoying the FullNote7Build2.1 from @chevyrhoads and have decided to make some themes for it. @Shane_Picardo has uploaded a copy of the ThemeSoftware (it's a version behind, but it works) that I've used to create this theme. I've been looking into changing the status bar icons, but I don't have a lot of hope since the file types for the Note7 port have changed again to some proprietary format that I probably won't be able to decode. I haven't touched the icons since I use Nova Launcher with Icon packs, but I have changed many of the system apps to be a darker theme. I've attached the preview images so you can see if you like it (the ones that start with theme). There is a limit to what the theme editor can do, but if there are requests let me know. I'm more interested in AOSP-like themes, but if another idea interests me I'll look into it.
Theme Store Instructions:
1) Download the appropriate apk (Note 7 ports have a different apk than Note 5 or S6/S7 ports)
2) Install apk, but do not apply
3) Navigate to /data/overlays/jsonfiles/trialjson and cut the file with the name of the theme you just installed
4) Paste the file in /data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson
5) Navigate back to /data/overlays and delete the preferences folder
6) Reboot and apply the theme
7) Enjoy!
Thanks:
@supergrobi94 For Note 4 Files
@kevintm78 For Help With Creating Note 4 Theme

I've tested it on PaulPizz's CPF3 ROM v3.2 and it works fine, but it is based off of the N910F so there may be some bugs. Make sure to do a backup before flashing and understand that you are flashing this at your own risk. I will try to support it, but honestly I'm a little out of my league here. There is a lot of trial and error with the Samsung apks because they make them proprietary. Anyway, Enjoy!

Dang, I was wanting to be the first to give thanks, but I've hit my limit for today. Consider this, as the check (thanks) is in the mail. Great job!
Thank a trillion for this. Flashed it and everything seems to be good. Is there anyway to get rid of the data icon when wifi is on? Kinda of litters the status bar with it there.Donation coming to u and supergrobi94's way.

I don't currently know of a way to conditionally remove the icon. I'll look into it though. I actually prefer it there so I know what connection I have for mms and the like.
Well... (?) what does everyone think of the mod?

One thing that I could do is have an upside down signal bar that would change based on your signal (1x=1 bar, 2g=2 bars, 3g=3 bars, 4g=4 bars) right above the cell signal bar so it doesn't take any extra space, but I'd have to remove the up/down data arrows for mobile data. Thoughts?
Also, are there other icons that people want up in the status bar? I can change bluetooth, NFC, alarm clock, and other icons if someone has better suggestions.
Thanks!
Hello @shadeau I was wondering if you could make a complete transparent theme with the wallpaper in your screenshots. One that would make the dialer, settings and messages transparent with the homescreen wallpaper as background in everything? That would be awesome. Also with dark blue fonts. If that is asking too much I completely understand, as I really don't know myself how much time and effort has to go into this. I tried installing the Samsung Theme editor myself with my internet turned completely off before opening it but I still couldn't get it to work. Thanks for your time.

I should be able to do that. Let me look into it. What color do you imagine for the sliders and check boxes (things that are typically a light gray color)?

Wow, that would be awesome!! I really appreciate this and wish you luck. Can't wait! As for the sliders and checkboxes, how about a bright green? I think that would look good. Thank you for doing this @shadeau Hope you have a great day

Okay, so the theme editor won't actually let me specify a transparent background unless it's an image file. Even if I specify a completely transparent image file as a background it just means that you see through to the very back of the app instead of to the background (so you still see black). In short, this won't work as you intended, but if you have a background that you want for every screen I could put that image as the theme background. It might be easier to try to get the program running on your computer though so you can play around with different styles and see for yourself.
If you want help with installing it I can see what I can do to assist. Reply here or PM me if you're interested.

Ok cool. If you could make the background image for every screen that would be good. The darker one from your screen shots would be great. Would that work? Thank you again for your time and doing this.

Well I just installed the Theme editor again and before opening it I went into windows firewall to block it but I don't see it listed anywhere. I looked for Theme Editor and Samsung Theme editor. Is it listed as a different name? Thanks

You need to manually add it. Open windows firewall, select advanced settings, select inbound rules on the left, select new rule on the right, select program and click next, find the program in the program path selection area, select block the connection and click next, select all of the things listed for when it should apply and click next, name it something like Theme inbound and click finish.
Repeat the process for outbound rules. Hope that helps.

I want to thank you again for your help, but I still can't get the Theme Editor to run on my windows 10 pc even after blocking it in Windows firewall. Don't know what else to try.

I've currently got the theme editor running on two windows 10 computers just fine. Could you be more specific on what is failing when you try to run the program? You might want to download it again too.

I would uninstall the program completely, re-download it, and try installing the newly downloaded file. I didn't get that error with either one of my installs. The firewall fix makes sure it doesn't try to get updates. It might help to disconnect from the internet while you're installing it too just to see if it helps.

Since only fonts from Monotype Imaging work, I searched for fonts from that company and these do work:
https://m.downloadatoz.com/developer/monotype-imaging-inc/
They try to get you to install some downloader on your phone, which I didn't want to, but if you wait a few seconds there is a "click here if your download doesn't start automatically" button that works. They then try to make you post a recommendation to Twitter before downloading, but you can open and close that window (without posting anything) and it works.
These are the same fonts as available for purchase in the Galaxy Apps store, but they're free.

To direct download from link above, do the following, replace the font name I picked TETRA with the font name you want from "downloadatoz" list.
Example:
https*://w.downloadatoz.com/TETRA-flipfont/com.monotype.android.font.TETRA/direct-download-apk.html[/url]
NOTE: remove the asterisk * it was only there to stop auto formatting of url !
Working example:
https://m.downloadatoz.com/tetra-flipfont/com.monotype.android.font.tetra/direct-download-apk.html
If your font name has a space ignore it "comic sans" becomes "comicsans". Please never use comic sans for *anything*.
Then you have the apk you want no downloader/Twitter just apk. Why not post them here for others to share?
Keep smashing !!
