Hello all,
I made several testings on the MHA-L09 to have the dual sim option. I rebrand my current MHA-L09 to MHA-L29 and changed the sim tray with one from a friend with dual sim Mate 9.
After do this my Mate9 got the dual sim lines working even with the MEID with 00000000000000 on the About panel.
Looks like the only thing to have this functionality is the rebranding of the oeminfo and have a sim tray with two spaces of sim or well cut the sim card to fit the space of the MicroSD card space. (See Image)
Regards,

Doesn't an IMEI of all zeros basically invalidate it? What good would it do you?

I tested both lines for Voice and Data and no problem at all, looks like the Zeros all only on the information displayed on the phone. I can't reach the 2 IMEI numbers from the About phone menu. I think is hardware IMEI reading directly or something I don't know really.
I made an additional test and cut the Nano sim card the most little posible and now is working the two sims on my 1 sim holder from the MHA-L09

That is not bull****. I know its possible I bet you anything that is posible.
It looks like Huawei has same hardware on both models. Do not understand why they built one-sim model, if dual-sim is DSDS (dual standby, not active).

There are few examples from different operators/countries on Mate 9, P10 with IMEI 0000 working all like a charm. It is not Null value, it is 15x0 which is OK.
That is same for IMEI: 123456789012345 or 111111111111111, if it is not empty value SIM is registered unless is not blocked by Operator itself which I doubt.
I use Orange as primary, after dualsim tray from Ali arrives I use second for 4ka.

It works, it has been done on P8 lite, P9 Lite, P9 and P10.
Read the forums about these phones and u will see.

there is a difference between mentioned models and Mate 9 or P10, e.g. P8 Lite, Honor 7 - I transformed them from single to dualsim too, but there was second IMEI present(generated), just not used because of used firmware and OEMinfo.

Yes, correct. The only thing needed is flash the oeminfo from the L29 in the L09 to activate the dual sim reading. I have it before the L09 without rebranding and was not working with the two sims.
One extra point to commment is once you flash the L29 over the L09 there is no go back to 1 sim functionality. I flash back the L09C432 oeminfo again in my mobile and all the time im getting the two sims detection on network operator menu, the only thing missing in the L09 is de dual sim managment menu on the settings.
Then there's this whole legality of running all zeros, or a made-up number, not assigned to a specific phone IMEI. Different countries have different laws for that each phone needs to be 100% identifiable with non-bogus IMEI's. I just don't see the point of getting a one SIM model at all, when it's more expensive, then the two-sim version.

Well in Australia our telcos do not let you use another SIM card in the phones so they ONLY sell Single-SIM model, they do not sell the Dual-SIM model, you have to go buy them outright in a retail store. In fact, the Mate 9 is probably the first phone I have seen in Australia (I could be wrong) to be sold with the Dual-SIM model in a retail store, for example - they never sold any of the Dual-SIM Samsung phones here in retail stores from what I can remember - so usually if you wanted one of those (dual-sim model) you would have to import/buy online/travel overseas to purchase them...

The single SIM models exist to be sold through network operator distribution channels. Most (Western) telcos don't range dual SIM phones, and I can't really blame them - why would they invest in devices that undermine their business models at the hardware level?
So in markets where Huawei flagships are sold through telco channels, single SIM models are used. For open market channels, dual SIM. Saves on manufacturing costs by just disabling SIM2 in software.
Hi!
What did you exactly flash ?
I have the same problem here! only the L09 Variant is sold!
my best
Nevermind i figured it out!
Conversion from L09C432B156 to L29C432B182 was possible and now the phone works in DUAL SIM MODE
Thx

Hi I use T-Mobile USA as my cell phone company. Recently I was able to get a hold of Lumia 820 that is locked to AT&T. T-Mobile for example always unlocked my phones if they are locked to T-Mobile, but looks like AT&T is a different story. I have even unlocked my Android phones through rooting and so on. I have searched some paid unlocking sites, although they do have Lumia 820 listed, but AT&T is missing in the list of carriers. Is there a way to somehow get/extract the sim unlock # from the phone?

A customer in good standing with AT&T USA, can try calling customer service and ask them to SIM unlock the phone so that you can use your own SIM card while travelling to Europe. They may do this or they may try to sell a discounted Europe travel plan that uses your existing SIM card. If you don't get the answer you like, call back on a different day.
Good luck with any other tactic until Q2 2013.

Thanks for the info! I never had AT&T and with T-Mobile it is easy, just like you suggested about calling AT&T. So you are saying that while the phone is exclusive to AT&T for 6 months, then I won't be able to unlock it for the time being?
How can i get the unlock code?

Has anyone successfully unlocked the lumia 820?
I called AT&T USA today and asked them about unlocking the Nokia 820.
I told them I was travelling to Europe on business and wanted to be able to buy an local SIM at the destination airport upon my arrival rather than pay for an international plan on the AT&T SIM. The rep said OK, checked a few things and told me that my phone was already unlocked and that I need not enter a code to unlock it.
I asked if I could test this out by popping in a T-Mobile SIM tomorrow just to confirm and he said it should work no problem.
I don't have a T-mobile SIM to try. Can someone please try one in their phone purchased and activated on the AT&T network? Can someone please call AT&T with the same line about travelling to Europe as above and see if you get the same info from the customer rep?
I wonder if folks trying the get their USA-sourced phones online outside of the USA first need to activate the phone on a USA carrier. Maybe it does some magic over the air.

If you need for example, T-Mobile sim card, then just ask them. It can be deactivated or brand new sim card that doesn't have service. If you phone is locked it will show you the box to type in the code. If unlocked you shouldn't get that.
I bought broken Lumia 820 from Ebay. Repaired it but after inserting my sim I got "locked" message. Can´t get the unlock code from AT&T also as I am not their current or previous client. Also I live in Europe. Seller was not able to get the unlock code also ( electronic shop)...
Tried to make FW upgrade but no go.
Any help ?
Unlocking via PUK code?

PUK codes are for sim cards, won't help with the device. When a non ATT sim is inserted it should ask for an unlock code. You'll have to purchase one online. If it does not ask for a code and just states the device it's locked that means the incorrect code has been input too many times. At that point there's nothing that can be done.

I think your phone is flashed by your carrier, they was modifying the firmware, so it locked and you can't use another SIM Card
So I say again to try flash your phone with another firmware, try global version like APAC, etc, . . download your firmware and flash it with Nokia Care Suite, if you want back to your stock firmware just use Nokia Software Updater for Retail and it will select, download, and flash it automatically with your stock firmware
hope it work

no, unlock the locked phone is not easy like that
you don't need (can't) to flash the global fw
all you need is the code to unlock from locked carrier to make it accept other carrier (for me is AT&T)
the unlocker code is differnce on every phone
here is my unlocked AT&T 820 running on Viettel (Vienamese carrier)

Morpheus thank you for fast reply, can you verify, there is also written 2 IMEI numbers on your box label?
Edit:
As i suspect, the U.S. variant of Honor 8 does not support 2 Sim Card, and it dont have 2 IMEI.
Crossflash(flashing EU ROM) will not make any difference about 2 Sim Cards because there is a hardware differencies on U.S. variant.
Anyone who depend a more information will take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/dual-sim-manager-model-frd-l04-t3461671
I have one.
BTW it's one for single Sim variants and two for dual Sim variants.
You should have 2 IMEI numbers on the Honor 8 as it is a dual SIM device, but you can use one of the SIM slots for use with a microSDCard.
I have got my brand new P20 Pro Today with Orange Spain. I have get a Free 360º Camera with the smartphone. My surprise: The phone is only 1 SIM!!!
That is normal? All the ads and whitepapers told that is Double Sim and I want double SIM...
¿This is normal? ¿Is there any way to put another SIM?
Best regards,
A.
You can use FunkyHuawei and flash duo SIM firmware but you'd also need the SIM tray too.
Oh, thanks for the information. Is there any way to get or buy the SIM Tray? Anyone has tested one?
Its possible to flash duo SIM firmware without unlocking bootloader?
Thanks

On funkyhuawei there is a different 2 different tools. 1 for converting single SIM to dual sim and 1 for just rebranding. I have not converted to dual SIM myself but I would guess you need to convert to CLT-L29 C432 (European version) dual SIM. @duraaraa might be able to help you more

Yes. You need to use the tool for it too. As the other user said, there are two different tools so use the right one. When you've finished bootloader will be locked again. eRecovery will allow the installation, as it goes through FunkyHuawei's infrastructure instead of Huawei's.

Hi, I have done the transformation from single sim (CLT-L09) to double-sim (CLT-L29) with the FunkyHuawei tools and help.
I came from your same situation. I buyed a P20 Pro from Italian operator and when I arrived at home I discovered that the phone was single-sim !!
Now my phone is double-sim CLT-L29.
But there are 2 problems :
1- Sim tray with dual-sim support it is untraceable. So the only solution it was to contact Huawei assistence and order the original part. But in Italy I was the first to ask for that particular part and it is not available immediately. I have to wait 15 days. So I ordered the dual sim tray from Huawei. The cost of the original part that I ordered is about 7 euros (non so much... I thought worse.).
For your information: I tryed with the double sim-tray of Mate 10 PRO, that seemed the same. I ordered it and It arrived me but sadly there is a little difference. If you insert the sim-tray both sim work very well, but the sim tray exceed of about 1.5 millimeter ! So there is no chance to use it !
2- For now with the new FunkyHuawei firmware you can't root the phone. The root come in the future, but I don't know how much time.
I ordered my dual SIM tray for my P20 from AliExpress with 3-4 US Dollars incl. shipping. Now I'm stuck between using Funky expensive method or the free one, from here in the forum.

Hi, now you can find the dual-sim tray holder on several china sites. But I'm not sure that P20 and P20 pro have the same one. IP67 is for P20 pro not for P20 (gasket difference maybe?)
When I rebrand my P20 Pro I was on EMUI 8.0.1 and Android 8.0.1 with firmware 8.1.0.106 (C432) model CLT-L09.
Funky site say that for P20 series the old tools don't run!
They write me that the tool for single to dual was not alredy made for P20 series (was april, 6) but about 2 days after they write me to download the right tool. I used that tool flawlessly.
You find it on funky site.

Hi, i'm wondering if you had any issues after converting to dual sim? Since the single SIM only have 1 IMEI, can it work at the same time with 2 sim cards?
Thank you!

Yes, sure!
One IMEI can work with 2 sim of 2 different operators. Also both in 4G.
No problem at all for me.
Also I recive the OTA directly from Huawei.
Now I'm on firmware 8.0.1.120 (C432)

I did some steps, thanks to Funky support that helps so much (problem is the time zone +9)
now i'm at the erecovery step, where I must address DNS to Funky ones and my TIM Router do not permit. I'm trying to use dhcp server for windows using another wifi connection. At the same time, and I don't know if it is important right now, the phone is not recognized by windows as USB composite device, but I can' find any compatible driver. I'm here with three pc's....from 12 hours

Try to install HiSuite by Huawei and updaye it to last version. In developer option tap on operator unlock and debug usb and than Windows ask you to confirm an esadecimal code! You must have your phone see by windows.

Thanks Doromax, magically the network starts and the installation proceed (now complete, with dual sim?)
Funky said at that phase you need only to be under charge, USB is not relevant.
Thanks to all for help
Hy there, how much cost you to activate dulal sim?
Tested tray from l29 to l09 its not working. Dual sim settings wil not appear.
What is strange is that Vodafone Romania says that huawei stopped producing dual sim p20 pro.
Or maybe an operator lie....

They are wrong - ALL Huawei phones as far as I am aware are now in fact built with hardware for Dual SIM - they just disable it with the software for certain markets and give a single SIM tray. I did the same on my P10 Plus and it worked perfectly as well with Dual SIM.
The only official Dual SIM Huawei supplier in the UK is Three UK at present. I am not sure about the rest of Europe.

The One Plus 7 5G McLaren international supports dual SIM. However the T-Mobile version supports 1 sim card, or so they say....
I have a strong suspicion that it actually has the hardware to support dual Sims. Here's how;
The sim card tray on the T-Mobile McLaren only supports 1. However the international version supports 2. The sim card trays appear to be the same size but different design.
I suspect that if you take a dual sided sim card tray like the international version and put that in the McLaren that it will detect both Sims. I think T-Mobile just used a 1 sided Sim card tray instead of a two sided sim tray..
Try it...

I can confirm that both SIMs are working.
Awesome thank you for confirming. Did you use the stock sim card tray for dual Sims with the T-Mobile 5G McLaren?
I was only able to look at it briefly and couldn't decern if it supported dual Sims with the stock sim card tray given the limited time I had to look at it.
The op7pro dual SIM tray fits in the T-Mobile 5G just fine. I didn't throw 2 sims in it but that's how I set mine up while testing briefly.

I doubt TMobile allows an IMEI for it
The use idea would be to have dual sims so that you could have multi carrier options. For example you would have T-Mobile as your daily driver , but then have Verizon for when you travel to places like Alaska for example where Verizon is dominate up in that area. So It should work just fine. Just may need a mod or a magisk module to enable dual sim functionality.
Some one point me to the dual sim tray so I can buy one for the phone? Please and Thank you.
Maybe you can flash the dual SIM firmware? Read about that on the forum somewhere already..
I saw someone bought one on Ebay. I dont remember where I saw it though.

Just off the phone with OnePlus customer support. According to the individual I spoke with, 7T Pro McLarens produced for T-Mobile only support one SIM. The representative stated that even if the phone is unlocked it will still only support one SIM because the phone only has one IMEI.
The question then becomes, is the hardware produced for T-Mobile actually unique with only one IMEI or was it a firmware mod that only exposes one IMEI? My guess is that this is a firmware modification. I suspect that if one were to unlock the 7T Pro McLaren and could then get a hold of the International firmware the T-Mobile hardware would magically discover that it actually has that second IMEI and is capable of supporting two SIMs.
I bought the T-Mobile phone because I thought it could support dual SIMs. I'm extremely disappointed that it does not.
Dual Sim cards work.
Tmobile is just selfish and required OnePlus to provide a single Sim.
That's why when you flash international the slot reads both cards.
This is why I hate flag shipped phones, they limit you and force you down a single path.
They didn't change any hardware just software to make it seem like it wasn't supported.
- OnePlus 7 pro.

I signed up with T-mobile when the 6T was new. Later on I also purchased the Oneplus 7 Pro also from T-Mobile. The hardware for dual sims is built into each of the phones. I know for a fact bc I bought a dual sim tray for both phones on Amazon. It is true that each of these phones only has the one IMEI number. But I can tell you I was able to successfully convert both phones to dual sim using msm tool. I only followed in other peoples footsteps. Relying on forums such as this and youtube. I currently still use the Oneplus 7 Pro that I converted. I use both T-Mobile and Verizon sim cards. It works flawlessly. I had no intention of getting a 7T Pro Mclaren. However, one fell in my lap that I couldnt pass up. I expect to receive it in the mail tomorrow. If I can't convert it, its not worthing keeping in my eyes.

I did the same, I can use both TMobile and Verizon to make/receive calls/data, can send text message.on Verizon, but cannot receive text messages on Verizon. Do you need to activate the phone at Verizon website to receive text messages?
oh god. it took me forever to figure that out. It comes down to a feature called "cdma-less" provisioning. Once Verizon adds that to your account it will work. A lot of Verizon employees have no clue what that is. So you may have to call multiple times.
I found this article saved in my favorites: https://www.droid-life.com/2018/11/...etails?id=com.argus.sava.networkmode&hl=en_US
This literally just happened to me. (I have the T-Mobile Oneplus 7T Pro 5G Mclaren)
Oneplus emailed me the unlock token today.
I decided to get on Oneplus chat to confirm instructions.
(In the past I converted my T-Mobille OP6T and OP7 PRo to international rom.)
On the chat I got connected to a guy named Steve Gilbert.
I explained to him what I had done in the past converting phones to dual sim.
I told him I knew that there was no internation rom.
But I still want to activate the other sim. He told me to contact T-Mobile.
From here the conversation got pretty heated and he said fine, I'm going to connect with your computer.
FIrst I need name, addresss, phone, imei, build, and proof of purchase.
Here I am feeding him all the info and i told him to give me a sec to send proof of purchase.
Then suddenly the chat disconnected saying we haven't heard from you in a while.,..............
I keep trying to connect to there chat but there system says its down.
So, according to Steve Gilbert. It is possible to activate the second sim. I mean the guy literally said he was going to connect to me and install the rom.
I have a factory unlocked TMobile OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren 5G. I would be willing to try a dual SIM to check if it supports dual SIM. I'll order one soon and report back.
is this thread dead alrdy ? anyone found out a way to use second sim on op7t pro mclaren? i searched everywhere and no clue how to active it, anyone can help ? thanks in advanced
Does the oneplus 7 pro have the same imei for both sim slots or does it have two different ones? I ask because I had a t-mobile model converted to internations and under settings, phone status I see the same imei for both slots. This is also what I get when I dial *#06# on the phone dialer.

All dual sim smartphone have 2 different IMEI, use the imei write tutorial to write the imei which comes in the phone box.

I purchased the phone used hence no box. Is it possible it's showing the same imei because the 2nd slot is empty? Is the 2nd imei a digit off or totally different?
Thanks for the replies!
Looks like mine are different by 8 numbers. Sim slot 1 is the higher of the two. Mine is an unlocked version direct from Oneplus.

No, each IMEI need to be separate because having 2 phones with same IMEI will blacklist both phones. In your case its dual SIM. Try reset the firmware or flash using the EDL mode and see if anything change. Maybe there is some carrier lock (probably not) just wanna make sure ??

No one "sold me" anything unexpected. I purchased the T-mobile edition as there is $100 price difference between it and the international even if both are unlocked and converted it to international myself. It works fine and currently has two sims in it that are both working just fine with the same imei. Many other dual sim phones only use one imei. Obviously I would prefer two but the only time there might be an issue is if you try to run 2 sims from the same provider or an mvno of that provider where they might notice the same imei is in use twice. Rare exception. In any case I'm only using dual sim till my current sim expires.
