How to disable message preview?? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hello,
I've done this in the past with previous devices but can't seem to figure out how to disable message preview from certain apps like What's App. I have pop ups turned off inside the app but it still shows a preview when it's running in the background. Any fix for this??

Are you talking about the home screen or the lock screen?
For home screen status bar, Paranoid Android is the ONLY rom that offers this feature. They call it "Do not disturb" feature. It blocks any ticker in the status bar.
I requested for this specific feature to be included in a variety of roms but no dev responded so far.

Hi,
That is called the notification area. Which is the same area as the clock, date, etc.
And what u want used to be available on older SMS apps.
It may be available on Handcent SMS app or GO SMS app as well, but I'm not sure since I haven't seen that since HTC sense ROM.
It was a privacy setting on the SMS app.
I'll do a search and get back to u.
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2

[APP][2.2+] Notification Center

So, there are plenty of new apps about notifications and even more with the new Android L notification system....bad thing is most of them are for Android 4.3 and up....so well, this is an app i made for my own compatible from Android 2.2 and up.
Its Notification Center, something like the Android L notifications....but worst of course xDDDDDD its in beta stage and willing to improve if you like it!!
Its easy to use and simple, not much configuration needed, all is in the main screen (design is beta) if anyone wants to improve the icon, i will thanks him inside app.
More or less these are the features (actually this is the description from google play)
****Version 1.0.3****
- Fix longclikc and click in the notification center view
- Fix button settings not working. Now you can activate turn screen on when notification arrives.
**Beta Version**
Your notifications will pop up over any window, you can even make it turn screen on to show it.
You can also display a notification center with a history of all notifications, expand them, launch them, block or delete them.

Pop up notification on 5.0

I just updated my phone to 5.0 and while there are many cool new features, I'm not a fan of the pop up notifications that appear "banner" like across the top of the phone.
Not really noticing this with all apps but Facebook Messenger and Hangouts both have this. I tried checking sound/notifications and it does give you the option to disable notifications entirely for certain apps but thats not what I want. I'm simply looking to remove this banner pop up that appears no matter what youre doing, watching video, email, etc....
There is no way by default probably will become a custom ROM feature or an app to help.

Thanks man.
I think it's lame that Google would have this feature without an option to disable it. It's annoying during a video to have a banner pop up displaying your new message across the top.

Hi @Flyview cool concept. You asked for feedback. I think you should allow the transitions to be slower 2 seconds is to fast.
I don't really understand the seconds of the transition is it random ?
You might want to show a small overlay as a tutorial on first start I found the one tap to pause which is nice and the two tap to like, but I liked a picture without knowing what the 2 tap would do and I don't know which one it was
I'd like a go back feature too, if you see a picture and right when it disappears you notice something but you can't go back, so just a see previous like a swipe right.
Living in Paris I learned with your app that most pictures on instagram are of the Eiffel tower
Getting a blank screen many times.

It will show a new picture whenever there is a new one available (up to minimum of every second), this will be configurable. I have to think of a good way to show previous pictures. I was thinking the old ones would become scrollable below but if someone new comes to the app they may think it's like Instagram where the point is to scroll down. And yes, intro overlay should be added as well. That's awesome about Paris haha!

Hmmm that's not good. Do you have Google apps installed? What's your Android OS and ROM? It'll work with whatever location provider is available, GPS is not necessary.
Do you mean "Google apps device policy"? no
I run 4.4.2 on Asus A86 device
@Flyview nice app i have few suggestions
1. Ability to select the distance range for nearby pictures
2. Ability to click the user of the pic uploader, which takes directly to their profile so that we can follow them.
3. Custom picture refresh time.
4. Add an overlay which has buttons to Pause/Play Previous/Next buttons.
tried uninstall, reinstall and login.
there is an error warning warning telling me i have to enable cookies in my browser, or disable private mode? then this blank screen all the time. only way to reach login page is uninstall/reinstall

Oh ok that makes sense then. You need to enable cookies in Chrome (or whatever browser the Instagram login page is using). Otherwise LivePics can't log you in to your Instagram account.

well i checked and cookies are enabled in every browser installed: default, chrome, firefox, opera. not sure witch one instagram is using. will dig deeper in settings.
Same problem, I only get a white screen. Running KiKat on a stock TMobile Note 3. Tried clearing data. Hangs on login screen usually, then it will give the login/cookies error message. If I get past that, back to white screen. Tried uninstalling, then reinstalling - same results.
04/14 - update installed this week - fixed the problem - working fine now.

Very interesting project!
Do you think that it is possible to hide the notification bar indicated in screenshot?
Thank you
It would be interesting to know what this app does differently from the built-in Android feature that lets user block any notification swiping it and going to the cogwheel.

That is one problem I wanted to solve. Those buttons will be hidden once you get rid of all undismissable notifications. Though I don't directly modify the status bar. Check my screenshot.

There are lots of notifications that you cannot swipe away or hide from the cogwheel like "USB connected", you can snooze for max of 2hrs but not permanently. That is what this app is trying to solve, let users hide them permanently.

Yeah that's gonna happen, but at least you can swipe SMS notification away and all is good again. I know not ideal situation. If you want those buttons to be hidden permanently I believe Substratum might be able to do something.

I haven't figured out yet why it's not allowing to buy from XDA installs. Google might have added some metadata which prevents it. I'm looking into it, meanwhile get it from the play store . Sorry for the confusion.

TidyPanel is using battery
Hi.
Great app.
No issues, other than one, in the notification panel I see a constant message of "1 app is using battery: TidyPanel"
This is on Samsung Galaxy S8+ running latest Oreo
I can hide it, but just wanted to verify that there's no battery abuse using this

Absolutely no battery abuse. That's standard android thing. Check battery usage and you should not see the app listed (in which case the battery usage is less than 1%). In case you see abnormal battery usage let me know.
