I just uploaded a quick vid to send my wife to show her the landscape work that was completed today and in the app I cannot select 720 or 1080p /60.
If I check on a computer it's all good ...
Here is a link to the video
https://youtu.be/xt0s0iemOOw
And when I go to other channels, I can see their videos in 1080p60
Any ideas?

Same Problem video working on 72060fps with S8+ on pc 1080p 60fps
Edit: youtube video working with 1440p
Gesendet von meinem SM-G955F mit Tapatalk
It seems to be limited to my own videos being limited to non HD resolutions when imported as 60fps

I am having the same issue on youtube, there is no 1080p60 option only 720p60 and somethimes 1440p.
The thing is on pc it is available in 1080p60.
I don't know if this is a youtue or samsung thing.
Anybody tried uploading a 4K video yet? I have and it never shows up on youtube in 4K on my pc. Tops out at 1080p. That is frustrating because 1080p looks like trash on my ultra wide monitor.
We won't see 4k on an S8 since it doesn't have a 4k screen. If you set your display resolution to max you should get the 1440 option

Haven't tried yet from my S8+, but I've uploaded many UHD videos from my S7e, and YouTube streams them at 2160p. But it can take hours before the higher-resolution streaming option shows up after you upload a video.
I tested 4k hdr video, and all hat only 720p/60 on my S8+. Normal 4k video had 1440p
Same problem. Only 720p when the video supports 60FPS!
I'm having the same issue. For some reason it always starts at 440p and caps at 1080p. Pretty annoyingly hilarious that I have a 4k screen but can only watch YouTube videos in iPhone resolution
If I upload a 1080p60 file I can't even get it beyond 440. If I dump a 4k non 60fps file in, I can get up to 1440 (expected as we don't have a 4k screen)

I've had a similar problem since I got my S8 (snapdragon). I see most video's still have a 1080p option, but they don't have 60fps as an option. However, all videos, even ones with the option, are playing at either 30 or less fps. Sometimes the video is even behind the audio. It's really frustrating. Especially looking at it side by side with my S7 edge that plays it just fine. Also funny that the smaller screen of the s7e plays a bigger video than the s8 because of the height and width differences.

Go to your YouTube settings and turn off "HD on Wi-Fi only". My LTE is actually quicker than my home Wi-Fi (well, my parents' Wi-Fi), so I have it off, maybe that'll fix some issues.
App updates have corrected it

Has anyone else experienced lots of video lag when trying to play 720p videos? I have tried using MX player, mobo player and the stock HTC player, but the video is very choppy with all of them. I know the resolution isn't 720p but o have a ton of 720p videos on my pc. I would just use software decoding but that uses a ton of battery it seems.

Try BSplayer. I have been able to run 1080p videos with it no problem.
I use stock with no problem. The size of my movies for the most part are around 800mb and lower. What video type are your movies.

If your movies (1,5 - 2 hours) takes only 800mb they are not HD quality.

They are not bluray, but they sure look pretty damn good on my Samsung LED.
1280*720 Res. I watch movies on my phone just about every night, while driving, picture is s clear as can be.

That looks pretty low quality. Even if the resolution might be 720p its still low quality. Do you use some program to convert the movie to that size?
Since over 2 hour movie like the Avengers you posted there should take over 3 gigabytes on 720p.
If it compressed properly, you can get a 720p movie at 700-800 mb with almost no quality loss.

Instead of arguing about the quality of his movie just ask what the bitrate and codec are.
@ OP, I haven't run across single movie moboplayer cannot play in software mode perfectly. Turn off hardware acceleration and there will be no lag.
If there is still lag tell us the codec used (x264, MPEG, etc) and bitrate, and source.
I tried to find information about the slow motion features of the XZ Premium, but everyone is only writing about the 960fps super-slomo.
Is the phone capable of recording video in 120fps or 240fps too?
I was able to pause a youtube video which showed the camera app settings and was able to spot the 240fps mode. I assume it can shoot *regular* slow motion too.

Can you provide the link? I thought it's only 120fps and 240fps
Wished Sony has given 1080p at 120fps

Actually the video only shows settings for 120fps (at time 1:46, screenshot at http://imgur.com/rdoMNW7)
No mention of resolution for the 120fps slow motion. The 960fps is in 720p, I heard that in several videos.

From the review:
The Xperia XZ Premium features 4K video recording, which supports SteadyShot video stabilization. Of course, you get the standard 1080p/30fps and high-speed 1080p/60fps options. There is also a 120fps recording in 720p, and finally, there is the headline 960fps slow motion video recording - that's recorded again in 720p.

After about 2 weeks with the Sony XZ Premium, I have to say that I'm pretty underwhelmed by the super slow-motion. The device itself is very nice, fast, good looking and I like it a lot. The regular slow motion is fine, but the quality of the super slow-motion is far below my expectations. There is very notable noise in the video, the resolution does feel like I'm watching an old tube TV and there are visible staircase artifacts on straight lines in the video. The super slow-motion itself looks good, but with this type of quality I'll stick with the regular slow-motion for now. I hope Sony improves this in future updates, but I'm not sure how much they can do because it's mostly hardware constraints I guess.
Hi guys!
Is it me or watching Netflix and Prime HDR content on Find x2 pro is disappointing? I've watched Bird Box on Netflix and The Boys Season 2 on Prime video, and it's really dark and dim. Am I missing something?

Hi,
Amazon Prime does not even play in HDR on mobile devices that I am aware of, it plays in HD only. Tested it with oppo and Samsung galaxy tab s6. Tested on boys season 2
Netflix plays back HDR fine and adjust the brightness automatically. Tested on bird box.
I was about or add screen shot but all Netflix screenshots seem to come back with black screen.
Thanks
Check your widevine level is L1, some devices are reporting L3 so you won't get any HDR. Use an app like DRM info from the play store.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have L1. If I increase brightness it looks better but the whole UI becomes to bright when I check the notifications.

Yeah for some reason HDR videos loses colors/details on lower brightness. I googled it when the phone came out and people suggested having max brightness when watching any HDR enabled content. OnePlus 8 Pro has the same issue.

I have my pixel 7 pro set for high resolution. If I buy one of the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) what resolution will the pixel 7 pro's screen be displayed on my 4k monitor? I want to use it with an ethernet hub, and run a mouse and keyboard, similar to Dex. I would like to hear from anyone running a like setup.
If you want ethernet, keyboard, mouse, etc., Google TV/Chromecast is not the right solution. You'd simply be casting your phone screen or app via Chromecast.
The closest alternative to you request is using a USB-C DiplayLink dock (like this https://www.mediagearpro.com/d1-w.html#/) with the DisplayLink Presenter app. I don't have any personal experience with it.
Project your Pixel phone's screen - Pixel Phone Help
If you have a Chromecast or other device that casts, you can mirror your Pixel phone's screen and audio on
support.google.com
I still need an answer, not display link. The DisplayLink thingy is only 2K and overpriced. I have a multi hub that provides 3 usb 3.0, for mouse and keyboard, and ethernet out. It has usbc that plugs into the phone. I'll put an ethernet dongle on the chromecast and connectivity is solved via router. My main concern is getting a high res picture on the screen, I still need to know If I buy one of the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) what resolution will the pixel 7 pro's screen be displayed on my 4k monitor?
Since the Pixel 7 Pro displays up to 2K resolution, I'm very sure that's what would be displayed on your 4K monitor.

My understanding of 2k is 2560×1440. The info I have on the Pixel 7 Pro's resolution is 3120X1440, not 4k but you need more than standard 2k to put it onscreen. That would still be crispy on the 3840X2160 display. Still looking for someone with a Chromecast with Google TV (4K) who can tell me what it will do. I hate Googles business model, full of sales hyperbole and little meaty information. Nowhere have I found an answer, that's why I'm hoping for some input from someone who owns one of these.

I don't have any 4K monitors, but I have my 4K TV. Given the information shown at the bottom left of these two photos, and that I didn't notice any obvious resolution switch, I believe the TV stays in 2160p mode.
Spoiler: First photo is just casting from my phone:

Hope this helps. Perhaps there was some other place for me to show what resolution it was in, such as in Chromecast's interface. I didn't think of it until after I re-removed the batteries from my TV remote.
Can't play any HDR10+ videos on my phone for some reason. It can only play HDR10+ videos recorded by the phone. When I open the "Video" app I can see a small HDR10+ icon.
However, the mediainfo says it's HDR10? And when I load any HDR10+ video it says it's HDR10 only??
The clip I downloaded was from this site.
The media info of the HDR10+ Test Video and the Video recorded from the phone. And of how it looks like in the Video app, Pic
You can see how weird it is, would love some insight
Plays good, no problem here.

I'm using stock android. I used the stock video player, MX Player, Just Video Player/Just Player, MPV and VLC. All of them have the same output. The Increase contrast has no difference with the output and the decrease brightness one decreases the brightness of the whole scene, nothing like what the demo pics showed. Also, I'm using the Vivid screen mode which unlocks DCI-P3 which would be great for HDR content, still getting nothing. I'm posting the photos of what I'm getting and what I expected to get over here.
