Band 12 on Model SM-G955F? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I cannot get a definitive answer on this. When I check some sites it shows that this international model SM-G955F has band 12 which is what I need for Volte on T Mobile:
https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/G9Yo5/samsung-sm-g955f-galaxy-s8-plus-td-lte-samsung-dream-2
http://www.phonemore.com/phone/samsung-galaxy-s8-plus-sm-g955f/3234
But on the Amazon site to order the device it does not list Band 12.......
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XYKR7GP
Here is another posting of it and this list no bands....
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-64GB-Unlocked-Phone/dp/B06XZRMCS7/ref=pd_sbs_107_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06Y15D6RP&pd_rd_r=S8FN2DDKWM54QN8JXJ6D&pd_rd_w=5nH47&pd_rd_wg=uVQ72&refRID=S8FN2DDKWM54QN8JXJ6D&th=1
SO, does anyone have this actual model and can actually check the LTE bands available on that model for me? I would greatly appreciate it before I spend that kind of money. I definitely want the Exynos unlocked for ROM, root, etc. If you are nopt sure how to check here is an app I found to check what 4G bands your phone supports...

I do not know if the app I posted will work, but try this method if fails:
If you go in to the service menu by dialling in *#*#7378423#*#* then go to service info then configuration. All the working bands are listed there

The SM-G955F? Has band 12. If you plan on using it on T-Mobile you need to make sure it also supports VOLTE on their network.
I'll be getting mine next week and will try to confirm if it has VOLTE on T-Mobile.

well they usually do if they have band 12. I will be happy when confirmed, either way I will be making the leap, getting rid of the t mobile branded and getting the G955F exynos to have some fun on, lol

According to the FCC listing it supports the following US bands 12, 17, 13, 26, 5, 66, 4, 25, 2, 41 so aside from band 30 it has all the bands needed to work great on AT&T and T-Mobile.
It also has carrier aggregation with US bands with the following combinations:
2+12
4+12
4+17
12+12
66+17
41+41
66+66
and 3 band carrier aggregation at the following bands:
4+12+12
66+12+66
41+41+41
Usually the FCC info is the most accurate!

*#2263#

Will like to know as well

I also looked the options.. this is what i understood..
amazon and other ebay list the International version of ASIA where Band 12 is not listed.. and no Region lock.. you can use any SIM on this..
EU version has Band 12 listed, but it has region lock enabled, so you need EU sim and get it activated by making call for 5 min. then you can put any SIM. but band 30 is not supported (ATT)
i enquired on Clove they listed Band 12 is supported.. whoever have the device can confirm on this.

[Q] Huawei Ascend Mate 7 LTE Bands

Can someone tell me which bands the phone supports. There has been conflicting information and I want to know if there are different models to look out for.
According to Huawei the phone will support FDD LTE band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. However the China websites that are currently selling the phones only list band 1, 3 and 7. Is this a mistake or is this different model?
You ask Huawei?

band 1/3/7 is the only bands available in China, but when the phone is roaming(using on other carrier than CMCC, China Unicom or China Telecomm), all other bands are usable.
Not sure what you mean

Thanks, but what does that mean? You don't specify whether this will work on (as the question asked) on the AT&T US or the T-Mobile US networks for 4G and LTE capability.
If you can provide that information and backup as to where that can be found that this device is compatible and will work at 4G LTE speeds on the T-Mobile or AT&T US networks, I'd be a lot more sure about what i was getting.
Thank you though for responding.

I made a post on the main level of this thread, please go look.
Huawei's current offering of phones is NOT compatible with US 4G LTE bands, they will be releasing one soon (don't know when) that WILL be compatible.
I asked them directly and they responded from the manufacturer directly.
My suggestion, wait until they put out a US-compatible phone.
i don't know WHY none of the press bothered to point this out, useless in total if you ask me. They screamed and oohed and aahed over the device and failed to mention that the one being shown AND being produced currently is NOT compatible with the US-market. Another model that Huawei says is, will be released (no ETA).

Best USA GS 7 version with most band support?

I am leaving the post paid cell service and going prepaid.
I since majority if prepaid US prepaid carriers are Sprint, T-Mobile and some AT&T. I want a GS 7 that will support all three carriers with as much bands possible.
Any suggestions for carrier versions or does the Sprint version support (once unlocked) support AT&T and T-Mobile.
There's only 1 model variant in the US now - they all have the same band support - it all depends on firmware as to what bands are active.
But one thing to consider is that while a Verizon/Sprint phone may work on Tmobile/AT&T the same might not be the case the other way around because the AT&T/Tmo phone will probably have the bands disabled in the FW
Just to show this is my tmobile S7, wcdma bands that are enabled - so seems it would support Verizon/Sprint on bands 800/850/1900/2100 -- 2100 is a band not listed on Phonescoop FYI

Guess we'll have to wait until a Sprint/Verizon person gets their phones and get into the service menu to see what it looks like
Wasn't sure if they were the same thing (left Sprint well over a decade ago for GSM and never looked back lol)
But based on your info, then my first comment is probably true - Tmo/AT&T variants will not work on Sprint/Verizon due to not having the proper FW

Is this right? The FCC filing shows 5 models (SM-G930V [Verizon], SM-G930P [Sprint], SM-G930R4, SM-G930A [ATT], SM-G930T [T-Mobile]). It shows each version having support for different bands.
How would one go about changing the firmware? For instance, if I have the VZW version (doesn't support LTE Band 12) and want to use it on T-Mobile, how would I change the firmware to T-Mobile's?

Has that been ever done successfully on any of the carrier devices? You couldn't do that on the S6 to enable certain bands. I'm not too familiar with the other devices.

Well looking at Phonescoop, the S6 had separate CDMA and GSM models. Based on my understanding of the S7, there is 1 phone for the US market (where each carrier has their own model #) but internally the phone is the same.
The only other phone I can think of that had 1 variant for the US market was the iPhone (where each phone internally was the same and the bands that were active was dependent on the FW)

I think on the S5 you could change some of the NV to enable different bands. The iPhones are all one variant and they don't disable certain bands either. I have a 6S+ on T-Mobile (supports all bands); if I swap the sim for Verizon, it'll work on all of Verizon's lte bands as well. The S7 for verizon shows support for bands 2/4/5/13 so I'm not sure if I were to place a T-Mobile sim that it'll enable band 12 since it's not enabled on Verizon's version.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's truly one variant of the S7 in the US.
I'm in the UK, I'm wanting the S7 Edge - but don't want the 8890. The screengrab shows it supporting the main UK bands too.. Hm! Can you get simfree phones in US?

Figured out on the Tmobile variant how to set preferred band.
For me Band 12 is great for calls/texts in my building but HORRIBLE for data so I always switch to Band 4 as my only lte band (which means I don't get calls since I have VoLTE off but no biggie).
To do this on the S7 requires a few more steps than the S6, you have to
*#2263# for service menu
Select clear all bands
Then select LTE band preferences and choose the band you want
Then hit the more button(top right hand corner) and select back
Then hit Apply band band configuration
To revert back to normal go back into the service menu and choose select all bands and then choose apply band configuration

We normally can purchase phones outright but they are usually branded by their carrier. AFAIK, there wont be a unbranded version in the US. However, isnt the S7 doing something with the phone locking to the first sim/carrier being placed in the phone?
i have a g930t that is working with a Verizon sim card in it . and this is what i did
1: i used the sim unlock app on the s7 tmobile to unlock my phone
2: then flash g930u firmeware
3: i dont know if this one helped or not but i did *#2263# to slect all the bands.
4: turned off the phone
5ut the verizon sim card and turned it on
6: after it finished booting up the phone you will see a message on the screen that will say something like" need to reboot to configurate your sim card" hit ok and let it reboot.
enjoy
Can one use a G930P (Sprint S7) on T-Mobile USA with full band usage? I am assuming the phone would need to have a custom ROM on it.

FRD-L04 European band support

Hi all, I ordered a 32 GB Pearl White (presumably FRD-L04) on Amazon's Black Friday sale, I live in the UK, had it shipped to a friend in the US. According to hihonor, the phone should support all the US and UK bands. According to FrequencyCheck, only the 64GB (FRD-L14) US model supports the European bands 3 and 20. Which is correct? If the phone I ordered won't support 3 and 20, I may as well return it now.
Thanks!
I also bought Honor 8. Only difference is that US version is single sim and much more LTE bands. According to official site it should support that bands.
I finded here specifications for all versions: http://www.smartphonerankings.com/huawei-honor-8-frd-l04/

Yes, I believe FrequencyCheck is wrong, but it claims the European bands 3 and 20 are only supported in FRD-L14 (the 64 GB version) and not in FRD-L04. Hopefully this is untrue.

That's why I'm asking the 2 people who commented in this thread, they live in the UK and can tell me for sure.
Here you go here is a list for radio bands compatibility list for Honor FDR04 /14 /01 AND 14 for use in UK with most of the providers..
www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/K0BOsOx/huawei-honor-8-dual-sim-lte-a-frd-l04/united-kingdom
You can select any country by the way.. If I were you op for Virgin mobile or Plusnet both run off EE but have better signal and deals to the overs..
I bought the FRD-L09 model while I was overseas and I live in the USA, the salesperson assured me it would work on 4G here but it definitely doesn't... If you still have the FRD-L04 model would you be willing to trade? Mine is the blue 32G model and it is basically new, I bought it about a month ago. I love the phone but only having 3G is killing me...

Thanks for this, but as someone stated above, I think Frequency Check is wrong here. According to Huawei Customer Care team on Amazon, the supports bands 3, 7, and 20 which are used for LTE in the UK, while Frequency Check doesn't have those.
I have posted a picture of both Huawei's listed network frequencies compared to Frequency Check's.
I never even knew that Honor released a single SIM variant of the Honor 8. I thought all Honor 8's were dual SIMs.
I can confirm Frequency check is wrong. I'm not back in the UK yet but I'm getting LTE on SoftBank in Japan. A warning - this model follows the American practice of calling 3G "4G". Only "4G LTE" actually means 4G.

I think it's because not every country use every bands so Honor indicates only bands used for specific country.
I make an example: Band 20 could be used in USA but not in UK so indicates on UK version it have Band 20 is useless for UK's people

4G = LTE. Go to SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>STATUS>SIM CARD STATUS and you should see LTE under Mobile network type. that's how i determine LTE access... there's also an app name LTE Discovery that can be used to determine which band you're using. by the way, i believe 4G+ is LTE-A, or carrier aggregation, which is faster than standard LTE..

I have US and international version, US version supports Volta same sim not supporting in international version... Problem is due to the Csc configured to the international version won't support Tmobile Volta..
Unless we have success in flashing tmobile Csc it won't work same as WiFi calling

Goes back to what I said. Wouldn't matter the band. If the support isn't there which as you pointed out it doesn't support the CSC.

Yeah don't listen to this guy. The F model is exynos correct? That means no Tmobile software.
The F model you bought might be region locked so it may not work in the USA right now without unlocking it. I know there have been other threads about this not sure if a solution has been found or not.

whoops lol. Forgot if F or FD variants of the S8+ uses Exynos 8895, and U.S. models use Snapdragon 835.

Question Is S22 Ultra US model U1 compatible with 5G network in India?

On Jio its showing your phone is not compatible with 5G hence asking
My S22+ also shows up incompatible. I unlocked all the bands on it using a guide on XDA and got 28 NSA, 78 NSA-SA bands to work, still shows up incompatible. The indian version of these phones possibly have 28 SA band which is required on Jio since it's only SA.
Edit: Airtel should work since its a NSA network for now.

If you haven't received 5G welcome offer, changing band won't be helpful. Try to get welcome offer with compatible device first, once you have 5G activated, try it on S22 with changing band.
