[Night Mode] as it should be on OOS with a new QS Tile, Root and Kcal required - OnePlus 3 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi all.
OnePlus Night mode is a bit off the standard as some of us have been reporting for a long time.
I have been struggling with it since day one. To green (i see a lot of users saying to yellow) for me.
This does not Fix the One Plus Night Mode, it adds a new QS Tile you can use instead.
With this new QS Tile you will get the Amber Night Mode you see on AOSP Roms.
Root is mandatory.
You need a kernel with Kcal support (If you know me you know what i use already, if not it's on my Signature, if you are on XDA Labs and can't see it i always use blu_spark kernel).
Kernel Adiutor is not mandatory but is the app i use to check if it's all as should be.
QuickTile Quick Settings 7+ is the app i use for the "new" Night Mode QS Tile.
Now the fun:
Open Quick Tile and give the App root permissions when asked.
1 - Change the QS icon to the White half Moon icon, Change the name to Night Mode (The icon and name can be adjusted to your personal taste)
2 - Click the "+" button, select "LAB", select "send ROOT Shell command and insert:
Code:
echo '256 256 256' > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal
Hit OK, this is the normal state of QS Tile (disabled state).
3 - Hit the "Gear icon" and choose Add Cycle (Previous state will vanish, we are now making the enabled Night mode state of the same QS Tile)
4 - Change the QS icon to the Grey half Moon icon, Change the name to Night Mode (The icon and name can be adjusted to your personal taste)
5 - Click the "+" button, select "LAB", select "send ROOT Shell command and insert:
Code:
echo '256 155 61' > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal
Hit OK, this is the actual Night Mode state of QS Tile (enabled state).
6 - Hit the "Play button" to see the night mode Kick in.
7 - Go to your QS, edit them and add the new Night Mode QS Tile you just created to the QS panel. You can ditch the old one.
All done. Enjoy the Night mode on OOS as it should have been implemented in the first place.
This works on Stable and OB OOS. You need to disable the automatic Night Mode if you are on OB or it will override this one.
OP3/3T are on par on such matter, it works for both devices.

Nice, will give it a try. I also dont understand what was oneplus idea by adding this greenish night mode. It hurts my eyes and i never use it

Thanks for this!
I noticed with ex kernel manager that each switch between regular and nightmode will increase the values for "value" and "contrast" by one step.
Depending on how often you do this, the colors will look noticeably different eventually.

I have tested it quite extensively with Kernel Adiutor.
Can't seem to reproduce it.
127 is the value for both "value" and "contrast" on both Night Mode and Stock Mode.
Try to disable ExKernel Manager and use KA to check after a few ON/OFF cycles of Night Mode.
The only parameter of Kcal I touch with those commands is "Screen color" which changes RGB.
They cycle as supposed on my end.
Other values are untouched and are reported as untouched on Kernel Adiutor App.
Feel free to give me feedback on this matter. I find that a bit strange.

@Chaplan
Works great with EX kernel and OB14 on OP3. Thanks for this. :good:
Edit: Also configured Tasker for automatic Night Mode

Hey just followed your tutorial and created the tile and tested with play button but I am unable to add the tile to the qs panel. I am able to drag the 'Quicktile' tile to half way and it disappears. Not sure it's rom issue or app. So can you help me out?

It's pretty straight forward.
Never encountered that issue.
Try to add it to the middle panel and then to the top panel where the QS Tiles get activated.
Also giving auto start permissions to the app and removing it from agressive Doze and app hibernation list will make it perform on an immediate basis when the QS is pressed.

Tried them and still doesn't work. But thinking that I am using ozone substratum theme for 4QS tiles. This might be the reason for not able to add tiles.?
Will check that also.
Thank you for the response:good:

Hi afi1982.
This looks like a good ROM, but 3G does not work on SIM1
It is very smooth, and I like the addition of the softkeys, and the tweaks for same.
Can you fix the 3G issue?
Thx

Hi.
I tried as you asked, but unfortunately I get an error that states:
SIM card info not available.
Menu cannot be accessed
The only option then is to click OK, and then it goes back to the main settings menu..
I like this ROM a lot. I find it very, very fluid.
Texting and telephone calls are OK, call quality is perfect, its just the 3G that does not seem to work...
A little more testing done.
I have no gapps installed yet.
I find some random freezes, like for example plugging in a USB cable. System froze, but I was still able to access filesystem through Windows.
Also, I experience freezing at the SIM lock screen sometimes. It either wont let me enter my SIM lock code, or I can enter the code, but when I hit the enter button, it freezes again.
Enabling the ribbon in the notification drawer seem to make it a little bit sluggish (That was after setting Notification Drawer & background both to 80% transparency, but after disabling ribbon, performance improved again).
Will report back with more if I see anything else.

Trying to delete a folder, with files included inside caused it to crash.
Gapps small install, installed from here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
I did a new clean install since last post, installed gapps, enabled dynamic system bars (system and navigation) and gradient on system bar.
Still no 3G.

my 3G connection is working as you can see
I don't know what is wrong, but it doesn't work for me
I'm not trolling you. I really like this ROM, but I experience all the issues outlined above.
I have tried reinstalling at least 3 times already, but 3G doesn't work for me...
Here is a log of my testing so far:
1. So I think all the system freezes are related to the dynamic system bars setting, and more specifically the transparent Navigation Bar.
Once I set that specific setting, I get hard freezing of my phone and I have to take out the battery to resolve the issue.
1a. Using Apex/Nova and not touching dynamic system bars in Settings, is most stable config.
2. I dont know if this is usual for a CM rom, but if I plug the power/USB cable into the phone when it is unpowered, phone starts up automatically and shuts down once I take it out.
3. I dont think it likes GSAM battery monitor. SystemUI issues after installing GSAM...
4. Still no 3G for me (I have done numerous reinstalls)
I have updated TWRP to 2.8.0.0 in the meantime from 2.7.1.0.
Clicking on "Wake Lock Blocking" in Advanced in settings menu causes a hard restart of the phone. Verified twice..
Still work...

Hi afi1982.
Are you going to try to fix this ROM?
I would definitely donate to you if the ROM became usable, but for the moment, I cannot use it as a functioning ROM.
Luckily, I did not experience the issues that Semper80 experienced, but it is not a usable ROM.
Can you try to fix it?
Thx.

P.S. I created a thread on NeedROM.com for this ROM. See here: http://www.needrom.com/download/crdroid-4-4-4-unofficialzopo-c2/
This will give you access to more people, and more possibility of donations, as I dont think there are many on XDA that have a Zopo C2

App that will give me one touch Location services Quick Setting tile on Nougat

All I want is a QS tile that one touches for location (and only high accuracy). Both nougat roms that I like for the Moto X Pure (Resurrection remix and CRdroid), neither have this, I have to manually toggle off location after hitting the QS button.
I tried the app Custom Quick Settings, it seemed promising, but alas I can't get it to work right. When trying to make a one click location QS, I can get it, but I don't want to cycle through the different stages, I just want high accuracy, so I delete the other tasks, and keep high accuracy and disable, well the disable defaults to GPS only for some reason, so I fix that to turn off location, doesn't always work. Some times I have to hit the tile two or three times to get it to do what I want it to do and other times it does nothing.
Anyone know an app out there that gives me this?

[APP] Caffeine (Made with Tasker App Factory)

This is a really simple app. It adds a Quick Settings tile (if possible) that sets the display timeout to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds (the max allowed by Tasker). Tapping it again sets the timeout to what it was before. It also has an app drawer icon that does the same, but the icon in the drawer gives no way to tell if it is on or off, so the QS tile is better to use, whenever you can.
The minimum API requirement is 21, because that's the default the App Factory uses, and I'm not sure if that's correct or not, so I'm not messing with it.
I've attached the APK and the task. If you use the task, you have to enable the tile in Tasker's settings (Preferences > Action > Quick Settings Task).
Thank you! Still working on MIUI 11, Android 10.

HBM on OnePlus 7 Pro

Hello, I would like to ask if High Brightness Mode app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.hbmwidget is fully working on latest OnePlus phone? And another question please, for auto mode I need to use the Tasker app or auto mode is working without Tasker too?
Thank you
V.
Yes it works. Not sure about auto mode since I don't use it but I'm sure it does.
Thank you. I just purchased High Brightness Mode app and I tried compare it to HBM in the Renovate ROM. I set two HBM quick settings tiles to control center (one from High Brightness Mode app from GooglePlay and second one from Renovate ROM) and after testing on sunlight I found the tile from Renovate ROM is able set max brightness even brighter (tile of High Brightness Mode was turned on already and after activation tile max brightness from Renovate was display more bright . So I will stay with HBM from Renovate ROM.

HBM app and or using a kernel for it, is the exact same thing. I'm using the app as well with no issues. It works as advertised.

Is that HBM from Renovate ROM downloadable separately? or you just use that ROM?
I am using Renovate ROM
i have flar2's hbm app and it has root access and im also using the rice rom. the hbm app doesnt seem to work either because of the rom or android 10. the hbm on rice is obviously brighter and doesnt move the brightness slider when toggled. the hbm app does move the slider when toggled then returns it to lower value when un-toggled, not the value it was before the toggles mind you. this behavior is not normal, and ive used the app with the z force 2, 1+6t, and this 1+7pro. the hbm app updated recently i think but ill double check, and ill disable the rice and see if the hbm app returns to normal. its gotta be 1 of those because the app never moved the slider before.
..no recent update, no change w/o renovate ice rom.
update: i got the flar2 hbm app working right with the renovate rom running. now theres no difference between them and the app isnt just sliding the brightness to max. i just went into the main part of the app in the launcher and hit 'show intro' from the hamburger menu in the top right corner and clicked thru it to the end and profit.
also mad props to the developer for answering my email in less than 2 hours.

[APP]AMOLED Notification Light "NotifyBuddy"

Original Thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/themes/app-amoled-notification-light-t3943715
So I was annoyed not having an LED notification light on oneplus 6t so I tried to make one of my own.
As OP6T has amoled display whenever a desired notification comes the app brings in a black screen with notification LED looking animation.
Though this is tested on OP6T, it should be working for most Android Oreo and later phones.
To use it:
Install App.
Disable Ambient Display and any battery optimisation for the app.
Give notification access permission.
Select apps you want notifications for, by choosing a color (Only apps you set a color to enables LEDs).
Note: 1. On successfully selecting a color for an app the text in which the App name is written should change to that color
2. Don't enable the LED for the "Phone App" as it will interfere when an incoming call is coming! Will fix this in next build
Thats it.
Note: To turn off the LED and to unlock phone double tap anywhere on the screen.
Also on pressing power button once the LED stops and on pressing it again it will bring you to lock screen.
App now available on Play Store, please rate and share if you liked the app.
Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy
Working Video: https://youtu.be/vFKiHS_ZD-k
If the app is not working check whether the Notification Service is running under Developer Option > Running Services, this service is required for the app to work as intended.
If it is not running after various troubleshoot measures, maybe send the logs.
Changelog:
Implemented burn in protection
Fixed proximity sensor bug
Switch enables LED with default color
Added search functionality
Now App list is sorted in alphabetical order
Fixed power button
Added settings for changing time interval and stop timer
Major bug fixes
Added System Apps
Added a switch to turn on/off notification LED
Give your feedback!!
It would be cooller if it would use the edge lighting.
Great app, love the simplicity.
Is there any way to show the notification first (like stock configuration) and then show the flashing "LED" after a few seconds?
Nice app. Been using since release when I saw it on the OnePlus 6t forum. Only issue is when you dismiss the notification (double tap) , screen goes into full brightness first before dimming down. At night, it's hard on the eyes. Hope you can fix it (add auto brightness support so it follows the screens brightness after unlock). Cheers mate and keep up the good work.
Good to see your thread here for OnePlus 7 Pro! Cheers
working thx ?
cut u get it to work wiht eged light??
Nice! It working good!
"Is there any way to show the notification first (like stock configuration) and then show the flashing "LED" after a few seconds?"..also my question..
Sometimes the LED flashes even if there is no notification
This is AWESOME!!! Could you make it so that
1: It doesn't flash the white bar across the bottom first
2: not go full brightness?
Thanks
This is an awesome app. Would be amazing if you can use it with the edge lighting.
Brilliant, thank you. Gome through countless apks trying to get a notification led. Thanks
Oh, one more thing, would it be possible to add an on/off switch so you can easily turn it off if you don't want to use it?

i also used this one notifybuddy
but went back to picel pulse untill this one support missed call's
pixel pulse works with orginal notification system
