Hi sorry for the noob question, but I transferred all my setting over from my S7 edge to my S8+ today, and now the notifications are the same as they were on the S7, IE when an SMS comes through I am getting the full text with the option to reply within the notification. Before my setting transferred over the notifications were different as they are in review photos...how do I return to the default S8 ones?
This can be deleted now, I have seen the answer on another forum, it was edge lighting!

Hello everyone, after updating my at&t note edge to lollipop i have one issue and one concern...
The issue im having is that when i answer a call using the edge screen, im not able to put it on speaker mode nor on mute, how can i fix this?
And the concern i have is using the whatsapp app... for some reason i get a notification when my screen is on (when im using my phone), and i can dismiss it and everything... i looked into the whatsapp settings but notifications on the screen are all disabled. im thinking its a new setting on lollipop but cant find it. Can anybody tell me the fix?
EDIT: I also saw facebook messenger doing this
I had the same issue

I had the same issue. Although after the update my husband can just tap the icons as usual, the update forces me to to press/hold it and slide up (to turn on) and down (to turn off)...DUMB, I know...but that's the way it goes. I hate it so much I bought a new note edge and have vowed not to turn on wifi to prevent the automatic-forced-down-your-throat-update to lollipoop---no typo; the update is POOP!
Hope this helps you!
on the note edge on caller settings i was able to disable the pop up caller id when someone called and i was in an app.
i cant find that setting on the note 5.
how can i get full screen call notifications instead of that pop up that takes like 20 percent of the screen?
thanks.
I'm in the same boat.
Can't figure it out.

I'm in the same boat too...
I used to love that feature on my Note 3 and Note 4 --- Even the S6 Edge+ which I have now is missing that feature.
Have a great evening.
Did anyone ever figure out a mod for this?
I hope the bring back the feature in MM.
Did any ever find a fix for this.
I wonder if MM update will address the issue.

Does anyone know if Marshmallow addressed this issue?
I searched youtube high and low. But no one actually really shows how the edge works for things like notifications. The main things I want to know is how it looks or acts or works when someone sends a text message. Or in my case more importantly a KIK message. My partner and I use KIK to communicate all the time instead of text messaging. Does it pop up on the edge? Or does it only show at the normal top of the phone needing the whole screen turned on? If it shows up on the edge does it just say new kik message? Or does it show the message from the person?

I have a note edge G version.
To answer your questions YES , you get the message itself on the edge screen because of which i actually disabled the Heads Up display. If i get a message in Whatsapp and say i am in the homescreen, the senders name and the message first few lines only, is shown. This works on most apps but I have noticed that only the first few lines are shown and then a series of periods..
To get message on the edge screen while the phone is locked, you can search RuggedAutoHunter here in the forum. He has developed an app that can show you messages even if the phone is not unlocked. Pretty neat.
Hope it helps.

Thanks, And I clicked the thanks button lol. I'll search that. Is there a way to turn off showing the first few lines of the message? Some times I have to set my phone down in public at a job site and wouldn't want someone walking by while my partner sends me a sensitive message and seeing what she says. I mean I'd still like to see new kik message received or new text message received etc on the edge while the screen is off. But don't want private information to be seen by anyone and everyone lol. Thanks again

That's a question you have to ask RuggedAutoHunter because that would only apply when you have the screen off/phone locked.
Hello,
i've a s7 edge + gear s3 frontier, i've been using the s3 frontier since Marshmallow but last week, when i've updated my phone to Nougat the notifications have changed.
What happens now is that i can see only the last message of an app, let's say that for instance i've a conversation composed by more than one message as follow:
"hi"
"hello"
"goodbye"
Before nougat if i clicked on the notification i was able to see the entire conversation on my gear s3 however now i can see only the last message that i've received (in the example above i see only "goodbye").
Are you experiencing the same behavior?
Thank you!

Yes it is a behavior change on Nougat and soon more apps will move to this direction when Nougat becomes popular.
However, the behavior depends on the apps you use. Some display the first e.g: whatsapp. Some display the last e.g: Telegram. Which app are you using?

I'm afraid there won't be official updates to solve this issue as the notifications work just fine on the phone and android wear. You can, however, use a third-party app in the store to solve this issue. For Whatsapp, you can use Whats History. For Telegram, you can try Tlgram History. I developed both apps. You can check out this video to see the app in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRV0VEIiatw
That's really a bad news ok i'll check out your app thank you!
Great phone but I was shocked to see this phone has no notification light for missed called, notifications etc.
It has a feature called edge lighting which seems to be as useful as a chocolate teapot. Apart from messages has anyone got this feature to work?
The advice on forums is ridiculous about going into apps and messing with the individual notification settings. Surely it should just work?
