No, It needs kernel development and no custom kernel I know of on xperia devices has ever implemented it
DooMLoRD has talked about it, but has not done it yet,
We have Q&A for questions.

Its on the z2, I've used it so once that's released I'm sure it'll get done, AFAIK its a feature of 4.4 on xperias, its about to drop so just keep an eye out.

I saw and tried it on DooMLoRD v21 kernel for xperia Z
+ eXistenZ Ultra by Niaboc79
on my friend phone

We can't be sure of that yet, Sony might scratch it off the Z1 to give the Z2 some exclusivity

It'll get done, it's on a plethora of other phones so i'm guessing it'll find it's way here too.

they said it will be in next update
something about marketing policy so they sell as much z2 as they can before lunching those future to z1 because they are very similler
if they give z1 users those future no one will by z2 and they will just buy relatively cheap z1 and just update

I've been waiting for it too. In the meantime, I'm using Smart Screen On app. That's detects swipes on the proximity sensor. Pretty good.
Anybody got any camera app like from G3 or Samumg S5 or from Sony z2

use textra emoji, doesnt change system wide only in the app
