Multi Window add more apps - Samsung Galaxy S8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey guys, just moved over from a Huawei running Nougat. In that you could have every app working in multi window. Samsung of course has its own version running on top of nougat and so apparently has restricted which apps function or not in multi window.
Ive used the Mw Pen app to enable more apps and so far its working brilliantly. Good luck trying it out

I also got my note yesterday and am very interested in the answer
I had some success prior to rooting with MW Pen Enabler: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.multiwindow.enable
After rooting, you can add apps via the Wanam module for Xposed. I have to say that I am enjoying the multi-window more than I expected. The developer for MW Pen Enabler has another app that creates shortcuts for two apps to open simultaneously in multi-windows. I love being able to click once and having both the apps I want open at the same time. Here is the link for Paired Window Shortcuts: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.xperiacle.multiwindow.pair
So if you have rooted device, you can try this, if this is what you are looking for:
MULTIWINDOW Apps Manager
@xperiacle got also app to add more apps to penwindow or if you are unrooted, to make (some) installed apps to work in penwindow or multiwindow. He/She also have app I like to use, to make shortcuts that opens app directry to penwindow, and this is what I use a lot on my NP 12.2 and Note 3. When you got huge display, why to open all apps to fullscreen when you can have those shortcuts to open them to window instead.
Other His/Her apps can be found here at Google Play

It is possible to do paired apps multiview without root or installing another app. At the bottom of the list of apps that are available for multiview, tap on the two small parallel horizontal lines. There you have the option to set up paired multiview apps under "create".

[Q] Split screen, or windowed portrait app in landscape orientation

Hi. Is there a way to achieve running two apps (any apps, not just official ones) on split screen like Note 8.0 and Note 3? or even better, is there a way to make apps to render in floating window in the stock rom? Also I noticed in Note 3's Multiwindow on landscape mode, some apps would force the entire screen back to portrait instead of running in its block under the multiwindow landscape. This device has a big screen and I hope there's a way to do this.
If you take any non-system application and run it through MW Pen App Enabler it can process a new APK for you to install that allows for multiwindow support. It does this without the need for root.
Problem with this is that once you install one of these processed APK it is no longer linked with the play store version of the application which means that you will no longer be notified of an update to processed apps.
Just to expand on what muzzy996 is saying, the capability of what you are asking for does exist, but depends on whether or not you are rooted.
The solution muzzy996 is for non-rooted devices.
With a rooted device, you can also install the Xposed framework and the Wanam kit for TouchWiz, which will allow you to add any number of non-Samsung-approved apps to run in multiwindow. For floating windows, I use an app called Pen Window Manager that allows me to enable floating window to any app. I suppose Pen Window Manager will also enable multiwindow for non-approved apps as well.

Anything better than Multitasking Pro by OryonCorp?

Is there any app better than the Multitasking Pro by OryonCorp? I am using the free version. It is quite good and I like the ability to stack Windows on top of each other rather than the Note Pro's split screens. The problem is that in this app, I have to use apps developed by this company. I prefer to be able to use more feature-rich apps that are already installed on my device. Is there an app that allows usage of existing apps installed on the device and allow the users to stack/cascade the windows partly on top of each other?

Pen window? And by rooting your device you can enable any app you want for pen window.
Thanks but I have no plan to root it for the time being.

The there is also this Floating Windows Shortcuts app which with you can make shortcuts that opens directly to pen window. I use this on both my devices, Note 3 and NP 12.2 and I think it's awesome. With launcher like Nova you can make app icon to open app on press, and open in floating window on swipe. That's how I use it.
Then there is this MP-Pen App Enabler. This app edits apk's AndroidManifest.xml from installed apps on your device and thus adds multi window / pen window features. Then removes old version and installs this modded to your device. Only thing here is you can't update those apps through play store anymore since MW-Pen App Enabler need to sign those apps again, with different signature than original apk of course.

Multi view HELP

I just got my new note pro tablet. maybe it's from 2014 but for me it's brand new.
anyway
I got it just as a drawing/sketching ideas tool.
i wish to use the multi view option to search photos as reference material and to view it while i work in an app like sketchbook pro.
In the right side menu bar i can see the browser Icon and i can drag it into the multi view.
BUT..
I can't see sketchbook pro , just some list of apps that i have no use for. like youtube and so...
how do i add apps to the side bar. and how do i use sketchbook pro with internet browser side my side in the multi view ???
Please help .
Thanks.
Download an app called multiwindow commander using play store and then you'll be able to use any app from multiwindow. Thank you for reading, Hope it helps in case it does hit the thanks button.
Not all apps are MultiWindow enabled. To do so, you will need to root and use an enabler.
Another option would be to use Penwindow. In that case you leave the Sketchbook app in full screen, and put the gallery on top of it in a floating, resizeable, movable window. That's what I always do.
You can't use multi window for that, but you can use a pen window to do it. I think a lot of people forget about the pen window and I use it a lot with sketchbook. I just open sketch book full window and then use a pen window to view whatever you need for a reference.
If you want to enable multiple window for an application without root you can use MW-PEN App Enabler by Experiacle. This application will take the APK file of the app you are trying to enable multi window for and process it to add the needed code to it. You then reinstall the processed APK and will get multi window support for the app. The problem is when done this way the app will no longer be updated by the play store since the signature of the app changes when processed. This means if you're enabling an app that gets updated frequently and you want it updated you will need to manually uninstall it and reinstall it and reprocess it frequently.

split screen app?

Looking for a way to split apps that are not compatible currently. Thanks in advance!
If you mean multi window then there is a setting in developer options at the very bottom to force apps to be resizable

I tried that but it still doesn't work. For example when I try to split view substratum app it says CANNOT USE APP IN MULTI WINDOW VIEW. trying to force apps to work for multitasking.
Looks like this developer option does not work properly in Android 8, the same app with the option enabled is working in Android 7.1.1.
This is why, sadly, I had to go back from Android 8 to 7.
If you are on Android 7, remember to reboot after enabling this option.
