Can't upgrade firmware due to twrp/root. - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've been trying to upgrade the firmware. My phone is rooted and it keeps booting into twrp and I have no idea what zip to flash as nothing shows up.
The screenshot shows what I see before of automatically boots up.
Can anyone please help.

one of the first, and most basic rules of Android is that you can NOT be rooted and then upgrade your firmware with a factory firmware upgrade..this is how it works 99% of the time

You can flash original recovery.img from your firmware file via fastboot then upgrade your firmware via ota and finally flash twrp via fastboot again. Good luck

Thanks all. Sorry for a simply muckup on my end.

[Q] Need stock recovery and some more help

I rooted my phone temporarily with pie root for motorola devices:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/orig-development/root-4-4-x-pie-motorola-devices-t2771623
and on some post, it was written that we could flash custom recoveries with it using rashr. I flashed TWRP using rashr but is showed an error "hab check failed for recovery failed to validate recovery image", I ignored for that time but now, I can't use my device because of it. I downloaded an ota update for 4.4.4 and pressed install now, my phone shut down and then it tried to get into recovery and again this error, I selected Normal Powerup but, it would, after one or two minutes, again shut down to install the update. I wanted to know if there is a way to stop it and can I get stock recovery from anywhere to solve it??

you can get the right stock image of your phone here (non-GPE):
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
simply open the zip and look for the recovery.img file
then just put your device in bootloader mode and via
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you can get your stock recovery and hopefully then your 4.4.4 update will work
Then you are lucky, that your phone is still not upgraded to 4.4.4.
Just download the factory image from the location as mentionend before and restore.
Now my personal advice:
Do not upgrade to 4.4.4. There is still no Factory image out there.
I am in that situation that my Phone does not boot and i have to reflash.
It is not possible to Downgrade to older Versions for the moment. At least not a clean solution.
So actually i and some others need a solution to make a phone out of their brick.
Hope the factory image will come quick, or at least a proper solution to Downgrade.

I didn't see any firmware matching my system version so I found a number matching my starting numbers in system update, and downloaded a random file with those results

Galaxy S6 Unable to boot into TWRP recovery

..
you asked the same question I was going to ask....hopefully someone replies to you, I'll keep asking around the interwebs for a solution I already asked Max Lee and still no reply. I'm rooted too (cf auto root) but i want twrp just in case.
I'm trying for 2 days for my 920i and I ha e twrp now I flashed 920f and boot fine!

I'm using G920I Australia version.
I can successfully root using CF-Auto-Root.
But I can not get into TWRP recovery after I flashed that (tried both versions of the recovery) using odin. It stops at the first screen (samsung logo). I tried using adb commond reboot recovery and the hardware key (volum up+power+home), both of them do not let me in to the custom recovery.
I had tried enabled knox before flash TWRP, which made it into boot loop. And then recoveried using the official firmware. Now I can only get into the official recovery.
Any suggestions for how to get into the TWRP?
BTW, how to backup the pit file using adb? On previous models it was mmcblk0, but Galaxy S6 seems to have changed the memory map to sda1, sda2, etc.

I got the 920i Aus version too. I was told two different things.
Update firmware to AOD1 and flash TWRP and it should work.
-or-
Use the 920t as jah2110 says. I would find the file from somewhere more 'reputable'.
Downloading a AOD1 firmware now from sammobile which is awful slow. First one I tried to flash gave me fail in odin so im trying a different one.
Stuck at the Samsung logo after trying to flash the recovery via twrp app, now it doesn't even boot normally. so if you want to install twrp don't use the app, G920I telstra version
Just flash an AOD1 firmware or more. The new zealand firmware for instance and then twrp is gonna work.
If you are stuck after flashing twrp on the australian firmware just flash root using odin and you will be able to start your device again

really? i didn't know that, anyway, if you want to update/reinstall the stock firmware, sammobile is so bloody slow, i deem it unusable, so i found this gem, much faster than sammobile, i downloaded at 1.3MB/s so it takes just over 20 minutes for the whole firmware. http://galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/galaxy-s6-stock-firmware/ give it a try if sammobile just pisses you off.
Yes it took me a few days to figure it out and everyone kept saying that twrp should work ...but thats just a matter of firmware version.
So is there a fix? I can get root but TWRP just sites and the boot screen.
I've been in the same situation using a Aussie Voda 920i, I was able to root using CF auto root but then had deep sleep issue & couldn't install TWRP. Now i've installed the singapore firmware & also got TWRP running but cant root.
If I use ODIN to root its gets stuck on logo screen & If I use TWRP it appears to go OK but just doesn't work. Also although CPU Spy says I am getting deep sleep battery life seems awfull
Twrp gave me the boot screen for infinite as well. I live in Alaska. I had to reflash root file to boot. Never got twrp to work. I tried to flash via app. I don't even want more possible headache flashing it with Odin.
Surely if you've got root you can install twrp from the app store and let it replace the recovery.
Same issue
I had exactly the same issue, flashed TWRP from a reliable source and my phone bricked at start up logo screen, could only get into download mode, once i did that i reflashed with ODIN and autoroot file and phone came back alive. Thank god.

Tried to install TWRP from official APP, said it installed recovery successfully would you like to attempt reboot and get into recovery, got stuck again at boot screen LOLLLL awesome...... piece of ****ware.
Same for me G920F. I tried twice both failed.
First time use this thread The phone was successfully rooteded. I installed "TWRP Manager.apk". It cause phone infinitely reboot.
Then I restore the stock ROM (you won't know how painful to download the 1.5G+ ROM).
Second time, I rooted again. And tried use freshily (?) to manually install an img in sdcard. It said success and reboot. But it stayed in boot logo.
I restore the stock ROM again (but the kies3 needs to download ROM again!).
I will not try a third time unless there is an right answer.

btw, the first one say 'oem unlock' must be checked. But I do not have this option, maybe because my phone is unlocked already (not binded to any one).

This only happens when you fail to force the reboot into recovery yourself.
If you let the phone reboot automatically after flashing, it will be stuck @ bootloop; so you have to be faster & hold the vol up+home+power buttons *immediately* when Odin finishes the process.
Don't bother removing the cable or waiting for the screen to change, that will be too slow.
Cant boot in twrp after flashing thru odin
knox counter trips

Accidentally bircked phone with TWRP. In desperate need for help.

I accidentally made my phone to start installing the nougat update (I preferred EMUI 4.0 over it) and when it was installing the zip through twrp, i restarted the phone in an attempt to stop the process without knowing that it was a huge mistake to do so. Now my phone has no OS and when i try flashing the B200 firmware through twrp, it fails every time. Would i be able to fiz it by flashing the Nougat firmware instead? Someone please help.
Flash stock recovery.img using fastboot
And then dliad firmware

I use firmware finder, find update, however after it finish downloads (100%) and restarts, I am getting into TWRP...
I exit off TWRP through reboot, and nothing happens to my phone. No update.
Whatever update I do, including dload method, I end up getting to TWRP.
Is it right or what? What should I do with TWRP to complete update?...

If u want to use dload methods or firmware finder
Both required stock recovery you need to flash via fastboot
Thanks! Returned to stocl eRecovery, all fixed

Just keep pressing Volume up + Power even if the phone boots once or twice.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Hi,
i encountered almost the same problem tryng to install twrp, so, when i try to come back to stock and relock the boot loader, i went to bootloop for some times. What i did:
donwload official stock b389, extract it, and flash manually (fastboot flash cust cust.img; recovery; boot; system)
failed, i got bootloop.
hardreset, not sure if it was acessible and i did it for sure...
download from official honor/hawei site, the 2 package to rollback from nougat to marshmallow.
installed the, again don't remember if it worked in dload like the official site teach you or if i did it manually (extraction, fastboot flash ecc ecc)
so, flash the mid packcage (from nougat to marshmallow) then flash the marshmallow firmware.
now, try to reset, and again, try to flash a stock marskmallow firmware.
the problems i encountered was (i suppose) it fail to manually flash a marshmallow firmware on a nougat bootloader, so, with the rollback package i was able to have a marshmallow bootloader where flash the stock firmware.
it took me time, sweat, and fear, but at the end it worked. It's easyer when you decide "i blowed it up, whatever it happens, i don't care..."
