Kinda newbie IMEI problem - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, hopefully someone far more intelligent than me will be able to help ???
A friend of mine suggested I 'root' my nvidia shield tablet--- he sent me the guide to do so...and I followed the instructions.
All was fine, running very smooth, "root-checker" stated that i had a "rooted" device......everything was good in the world !!
Then I went out from my wi-fi and realised my tablet was no longer picking up my 4G sim
After looking into it....my IMEI number has gone/been deleted.
I've searched and searched but cant seem to find an answer on how to fix this.
Would someone please have an answer for this ?
Not sure what details you would need, but these are what I have --
Model Number : SHIELD Tablet
Android Version : 7.0
Baseband Version : Unknown
Kernel Version : 3.10.96+
Build Number : NRD90M
Shield Tablet Software Version : 5.1
As you can probably gather I am a bit of newb to all of this.........I was elated when I'd "rooted" it...but now I wish I hadn't !! I doubt I'll be 'pretending' to be a techie ever again !!
Any help appreciated guys.....thankyou very much
Scottywhu

How did you root? Most people flash TWRP recovery and SuperSU... That's what I have done (though at the moment I'm stock). Never had a problem losing IMEI through any of this. Curious to know what you did that might have caused a problem.

So you are now rooted? If you still haven't done it, I remember there's a thread in the development section explaining the steps for rooting under Mac.

What happened when you tried to update via the LG tool or KDZ tool? I am assuming you tried following the directions in this thread.

yes i did everything step by step on that thread but my baseband is still corrupted
You probably know this already, but older sim cards have also been known to cause issues.

[Q] Sprint - Boost Flash

I would first like to start by saying i have searched everywhere on the forums for several hours trying to find my answer with no luck. so if the answer is indeed out there please point me in its direction.
I currently have a clean ESN on my non-active SPH-D710 Sprint Galaxy S2, rooted, and romed with build number "RUJELUS22 The Blu Kuban GB27 2.0.0.5" Software version"GB27" Android Version 4.1.2, Kernal version 3.0.74+
I am currently using my active SPH-M820-BST, Android Version 2.3.6, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7, GINGERBREAD.FF19 Build number. Hardware Ver.M820.07. through Boost Mobile. (Samsung Prevail)
A friend of mine romed, and rooted the GS2 for me, but is no longer around to help, or teach me how to finish the project, i am very new at this, but know my way around the PC, Ive tried the very first step (or so i assume) to retrieve the GS2 MSL through Terminal Emulator // Connect Bot with "getprop ril.MSL", the command runs, but doesnt show the needed info. ive been trying to find a way to Flash this Boost over to this Sprint phone for weeks. I'm asking as well as apologizing if this has already been solved. I desperately need help with this. Please, and Thank You for your time.
Cool, thanks everyone, now i know why i dont use this website
You still need help

[Q] Need help updating Samsung galaxy s gt-i9000

Hi there!
I have been looking for a way to upgrade my girlfriend's phone to android 4.0 or higher.
However, I always end up with manuals/instructions with broken or missing links to valuable resources such as necessary files needed for the endeavor.
Here's what I found about the phone:
Model number GT-I9000
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000XXJM1
Kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number ECLAIR.XWJM7
I have no idea whether the phone is rooted or what. I don't know how to root.
Can someone point me out to the right instruction webpage or provide me with correct instructions?
Your help will be well appreciated.
Thanks!
Seems like nobody can help me..
I guess the device is waay too outdated for any updates then :\

[Completed] How to unlock GT_I9507 Bootloader?

Hello,
I really really want to root my GT-I9507, asap, have been looking through this site alot recently and the simplest (for a noob) way seems to be 'CF-Auto-Root'.
The problem I am having and not being able to solve is how do I unlock the bootloader?
As chainfire says it can brick my phone if locked and it would appear that it almost certainly is, but I cant find a way to unlock the GT-I9507. I can see that some people must have as they have used the 'CF-Auto-Root' method.
Any ideas, or if someone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Katoiam

I got a response on a different page from a person who had rooted their GT-I9507 phone, they said:
I managed to root it mate, flashed latest optus 4.4.2, then flashed Philz recovery, then flashed CF autoroot ( the new version dedicated specifically for i9507 which you may find on cf autoroot website . )
Use This CF AutoRoot; ( This one is for Android 4.4.2 )
http://download.chainfire.eu/503/CF-...zh-gti9507.zip
Check all versions here;
http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
If you want custom recovery, use PhilZ ( The same as for I9505 ).
Good Luck.
But as I am very worried about bricking my phone, and as chainfire does specifically say it can brick your phone if the bootloader isn't unlocked , can some one help me to understand why this method works?
I really want to do it, but am very scared
Cheers,
Katoiam
I am beginning to feel a little crazy as I think I am talking to myself!!
On a different forum, some one has just suggest that in Australia the S4 probably doesn't have it bootloader locked!
Can any one confirm this? Or help me to find out if my bootloader is locked? I have also looked for ways to do this but haven't (I believe) found anything relevant.
Cheers in advance
Hi,
I suggest you ask the experts who own your device for help in this dedicated help thread in your device section,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192886
Good luck !
Cheers Darth,
I will make a post there now.
I didn't even know this post existed, I have been searching GT-I9507 the whole time as its not so common
So Just to finish this post off,
I have just made the plunge and rooted my phone.
So I used the Chainfire-autoroot method as stated above, and it all worked fine.
I have some issues trying to get odin to see my phone, whihc were rectified by going to samsung for the drivers.
So for anyone who is wondering, Optus have not (at least by 27/1/15) not locked their bootloaders on the GT-I9507.
I hope that this might eventually help someone, and I'm not just talking to my self!
Awesome! I will close this thread.
