A friend just bought a tablet here in China preloaded with Android 2.1. Its setup to be used in China, which has given me problems in the past on my Android phone. Is there anyway to go about updating it to the new version of Android and maybe even getting rid of the Chinese app store and adding flash support (right now it says the device doesn't support it, even though it looks like it meets requirements)? You guys have been helpful in the past so thanks in advance for any advice.
Im very sorry if this doesn't go here but since I couldn't find any forum related to custom-built phones I gave it a shot.
Ok the thing is I recieved a Custom-made android phablet a few months ago. It's a model made by a non-technological company in a political stunt to promote better education in Puerto Rico and to "modernize the classroom environment and how class is taught." And even though only public schools (I go to private) had these benefits I managed to get a hold of one and after months I decided to try it.
But the ugly truth is These "phablets" are just a somewhat mediocre 2011-12 technology with a custom android 4.3 slapped on top. The downside is that the Android version doesn't come with any of google's services and apps and because of it being custom-built No apps are compatible with it.
I managed to download the Google now and chrome apks but they don't run/aren't compatible.
After all that backstory What I mean to ask is:
-Is it possible to activate google apps and services from the phone without taking out it's original version? (After all it's running Jellybean)
If not:
-Is it possible to root the phone and flash another version of android that's a bit more "supportive" of apps?
Or do you simply have any other ideas as of how can I make it a normal android phablet? Im planning on giving it to my little brother after fixing it up.
Thank you in advance and again, I'm sorry if I posted this where it doesn't belong.
Hi all,
i'm new here and new to rooting etc completely...I bought 2 kid tablets from Fanx with the RK3026 chip set but I've heard that this probably isn't enough info to root it.
I'd like to know what more info is needed and what i'm looking at from level of difficulty point of view..Like i said, i'm new to all this.
The reason i'd like to root is simple; it's some sort of weird hacked android version that keeps pushing these Chinese apps to install.. My kids don't really understand Chinese since we're dutch speaking. Another disadvantage to these is that the battery runs out fairly quick so i'm hoping that a cleaned up version of Android will help out there a bit as well, not expecting miracles though!
What i'd like: A cleaned up version of android, it says it's 4.4 now but i'm not convinced i should believe that.
Unfortunatly i can't post links to the products website but it's from Fanx, the 7" kids tablet and has the RK3026 chip set
Thanks in advance
Hi all
Thanks firstly I've found this site excellent for rooting and flashing my samsung tab2/nexus7 etc 5*
But now I'm stuck and I have a challenge
I have a 10 inch nurvo tablet that is rooted (SuperSU etc)
But I cannot find a custom ROM that will make this thing any good!
Specs::
Model number:nurvo10dcb
Android version:4.2.2
Firmware:2.1_20140213
Kernal:3.4.39+
Build:a20_k1001_k1001L1c_1402051.20140305
I'm trying to get some use from this tab other than a slow inaccurate TV remote(YouTube via Chromecast etc)
Its so bad!(touch drivers are very slow
I really want something more refined like slimkat or just something that works rather than whatever this was designed for (picture frame maybe
Huge thanks and sorry if I've put this in the wrong place.
It would be nice to have the same flexibility my Samsung tab2 with 6.1 and nexus with slimkat

Hello and welcome to xda-assist,
as this is an unpopular device, especially compared with the Samsung tab2, you won't nowhere get equal or only nearly the support of a popular device, that's the hard truth..
If you can't find anything on simple Google search or on the forums
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
there's non and you're bound to xposed & root, just like many other people, long not all devices are supported by development, only a few selected and that's why it is so important to research the device before you buy when you're in to flash & stuff..
Good luck
Hi
I thought it was pushing it with this nurvo and if I had the time to check it out before I bought it I'd have avoided it
I did see some info about someone and custom ROMs but cannot find it.
Its rooted fine (kingo)but without a decent ROM its just junk as its just too slow
Its fine for kids to play with and slowly using as a remote but that's it
Thanks mate
I will keep my ears open just in case but I won't hold my breath: (
Hi!
First of all, sorry for posting in this thread , but there is no other thread for the Huawei matepad paper.
My question is if there is or will be any custom firmwares for this tablet, because even if its a good e-reader, notetaking device, i don't trust it for handling my private documents, because its Huawei and also it runs Harmony OS.
Maybe my answer comes after 1,5 a month, but I'll give You my 5 cents. Unfortunately, as there is no way to unlock Huawei this days do not count on any custom roming.
It's stupid of them, but sadly that's the way they choose to do it.

Thats sad to hear but i have no other choice then. The hardware in my oppinion is perfect for an epaper tablet , but im not a fan of the Chinese spyware preinstalled in it

I love this device. Got it somewhere in September and have to say it crushes any other eink Android tablets (got few, mostly made by Onyx). It's superresponsive, doesnt lag at all and, with help of Aurora, has access to Play Store and all ebook apps available there.

sorry, bro... but our tablet is dead as a "custom-rom-enabled" device
it works good (yes, with old Android 10 VM and old HMOS 2, but good) without modifications.
I hope our chinese brothers makes HUAWEI to release some sources and some unlock-software that helps us make our device great again!
Price was good, so I've bought it.
If I knew that it will not receive an upgrade to HMOS 3 and not able to unlock and flash some custom rom, I didn't buy it
Are You sure?
On their HOS3 site I see that Paper is included: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/harmonyos-3/
They are still updating other devices and Paper is not the flagship device unfortunately.
And even without HOS3 it's great device. A10 won't be forgotten by Google for few more years, so not a problem for me.
