The fingerprint scanner on my 3T will unlock the device with a non registered fingerprint. I used my fourth finger to unlock it by tapping the scanner 3 times.

This may sound like a daft question, but is there any way my fingerprint to unlock the screen, if I've not turned on fingerprint security? I don't ever use pin or fingerprint protection, but like how quickly it wakes the phone once it's picked up

NÂș.
Would also like to see that option...
i had op3 with frontal fingerprint, it was very easy to unlock the device when it was on the table.
now i have to lift the device for facial unlock.
do you use a faster way to unlock the device on the table?
Coming from OP3T I'm also having to come to terms with the same adjustment.
Only option I think you have is to enable the settings in gestures double tap to wake and then use Face Unlock

You knowingly bought a phone with a rear fingerprint sensor so why is this even a question? Use the passcode or pick it up it's pretty simple
Another option to unlock is using google voice match if you don't want to touch your phone. It works with OnePlus 6.
The Fingerprint Unlock feature on this phone NEVER works for me, Adding my fingerprint is really a nightmare, the fingerprint sensor is a joke. Every time when I put my finger on the sensor, either "fingerprint sensor is dirty, please clean and try again" or "only partial fingerprint is scanned" pops up and nothing was done. Does anyone use this feature successfully? Thank you for the info, regards.

Hey there.
I can confirm that the fingerprint sensor has some problems, especially if you use a cover.
And gives more errors when you try to use the big thumb - a logical thumb to use.
I have successfully recognized by the sensor the pointing finger and, as a backup the big thumb. The pointing has more rates of success.
Just try to randomly place all parts of your finger onto the sensor.
Hello,
This is my first post probably after 6-7 years.
In my Pixel 7 Pro [which is a little over one month and one week old] I have found the onscreen FP scanner does not always work when the phone is in AOD mode. If I touch the FP scanner nothing happens; it feels as if it is an image LOL.
Searched internet a bit and found this phenomena is a common problem with phones that have onscreen FP scanner [perhaps more specifically with optical scanner? I dunno].
Checked the solutions and none worked until I found out that if my default finger [which happens to be my right thumb] does not activate the FP scanner it has always been my left thumb that works perfectly fine. It is as if the Scanner was waiting for my other finger to press LOL.
Both my thumbs are clean/have same state of cleanliness during operation.
I think this could be helpful to those who probably scratch their head wondering as to why the FP scanner does not work in AOD. If you have more than one finger assigned, just try the other one.
This also raises a question to me [which might be lame], is Google doing it intentionally requiring the other fingerprint sometimes?
Agreed. Fingerprint scanner is unreliable regardless of AOD. Adding multiple fingers can help, but the reader is just wonky (that's a technical term)
It's worthless. Such an aggravation I just use the login code.
Don't know what you people are doing, my fingerprints (both thumbs) work just fine, once in a blue moon it might miss the first time, however I have never had a failed fingerprint unlock from either AOD or lock screen.
I never have issues with my fingerprint scanner on all 4 fingers I added
I got a new Edge 30 and set up fingerprint unlock. After setting up fingerprint unlock and enrolling my right thumb, I have found out I am able to unlock the device using the thumb, index and middle fingers on both hands.
Removing and re-adding the fingerprint did not resolve the issue and it does not seem to be a bug specific to any firmware version as I was able to reliably replicate the results on S1RD32.55-67, S1RDS32.55-106-3 as well as LineageOS 20. I have not had this happen on any other device an this did not seem to happen with fingerprints of other people.
Did anybody else experience something similar with this device? Should I consider this to be a hardware fault or is the sensor just misconfigured/inaccurate and insecure?
