Can someone please make a QR code so we can use Google cardboard on the S8 like they have done for the S7 and S6.

Gear VR for S6 Edge+ / Note 5 ?

One of reasons for choosing Edge+ this year is the VR Headset that was incompatible with my last Note line. Usually Samsung releases the VR along or right after the release of Note line. I'm really hoping they would release it in their next event in September and Edge+ should be supported (unlike Note Edge) since S6 Edge was also supported.
Can't really wait for it to come out. Any of you looking forward to get your hands on it too ?
When i brought the edge plus, this is exactly what i was thinking. I am impaitently waiting for the VR great, couldnt use it with the note 3. But hopefully it comes around for the edge+
I'm also in the queue. Waiting for it eagerly...
I'm waiting for it too. I was hoping to see good news in this thread. Rumor is that it will be unveiled at IFA this month.

I read that too... Just 3 more days to start!
Hate to put a damper on it .but they aren't going to release a vr for these phones. A new phone will be launched for vr support called the Samsung O series. In October at the oculus event.

I went to a VR meet up and heard the same thing. The Samsung O series will be announced alone side an update VR headset. I was bummed since I bought the Edge+ but the guy said it may not be available for purchase until April/May. That gave me a slight peace of mind, I couldn't hold off buying a phone until then anyway. This is just something I was told, it did not come from a Samsung rep, just a guy that was showcasing VR tech.
Finally.. It's out! Was really looking forward to this. And at $99, it's a steal...

Just promises for now. Oculus has shown this off at their Developer Conference and it's real for sure. I think I read somewhere that it'll come out in Nov. Gear VR is one of the reasons for buying a Samsung Flagship for such a high price.
Here, read this. Will make you feel reassured.
Never tried Gear VR before. Can you even connect them to your pc or PS4 or are they just only for smartphone?

There are ways to simulate PC games on your phone. So, basically you would be tied up with a phone on your face while playing a game on your PC. However, both needs solid configuration for this to work nicely.

Samsung Pay on the Gear S2

Many of you probably don't watch Korean dramas but they tend to have LOTS of product placements in them. Here's a recent one with Samsung Pay being used on the Gear S2. Looks like it'll pay through NFC.
That's funny. you know which drama? My wife watches them but I just find them silly. They always got the product placements but they have to cover the brand name. So it will be so obvious everyone is using Galaxy Edges but they got to put tape on everyone's phones covering up the name Samsung.

Speaking of Gear S2 and Samsung PAY. I'm I correct in thinking this will only work with NFC readers? Here in Los Angeles California area 95% of the places don't have NFC card reader or most of them are disabled by the vender to not accept NFC. I have been using Samsung PAY beta here for several weeks and I like it but wondering if the watch will have a limited Samsung pay only to be used with NFC vs. also having MST antenna in it.

S2 needs to be paired to a Galaxy phone and used on an NFC terminal for Samsung Pay to work. The tech that uses the magnetic strip terminals is too big for a watch.

Yeah was afraid of that. Looks like I'll continue to use my phone for Samsung pay rather then watch. I'm going to guess that its 5% or less that I have even used NFC vs. MST. It's just not an option around here.

The drama is called Yong Pal. The Gear S2 first shows up in episode 14
LOL all the of Samsung phones(S6, S6E/E+, Note5) in the drama have the logo on the front covered up. It was also very funny how everyone was using the S6 and S6E in the first 10ish episodes then suddenly they ALL have a Note 5.
Does anyone know how to get Samsung Pay to work on the Gear S2? I have had the beta for weeks and use it every day on my phone but I can't figure out how to get it on my watch. I frequent many stores that use NFC for payment. When I touch the watch on the terminal it beeps but doesn't do anything. I have no way of selecting a card.

Sad to say but yes... There isn't a way to set up Samsung Pay on the watch itself
I have the full Samsung Pay app installed on my Note 5, yet when I go to tap & pay, it says no app installed. I'm guessing that means I have to install the app from the Gear App store, which does not seem to have that app..... Anyone else get their tap & pay set up on their watch?
No luck for me either... I guess we'll have to wait a bit more....
I saw a few reviews that stated it will be a separate app made specifically for the Gear S2 and will come in November. So it looks like now we wait.

I unable to get mine working too, its saying app isn't installed but i do have the Samsung pay installed and working on the phone with no issues and searching the Gear S2 apps store - there is no any payment app. currently to install.
Its not available till first quarter next year per Samsungs twitter page. Which sucks!
I hope they've miniaturized the looppay device so it can be used in the Gear S2.

The only way for our current watch to work is like you tried to use on your old note (nfc). Samsung s6 and up have mst which allows samsung pay to work so flawlessly because nfc doesn't work sometimes. Samsung should of put mst in our current watch honestly from the get go. When Google wallet came out (2011), it worked but most of the time it didnt, not like samsung pay today

Where I have looked everywhere
Either Samsung have given up or too many issues in the launch markets to date, still nothing in the UK.
From a marketing perspective, pretty much every retailer has the Apple Pay logo, a few the Google, i tried using my Barclays version with varying success, it failed to work at one retailer to which the sales rep said, ah you don't have an iPhone.

I received a notification this morning also that Samsung Pay for Gear was ready for download. I'm guessing it's part of the public rollout. Haven't downloaded it yet, but will when I get time. Will report back.
(EDIT) The notification was for the Beta version, so I guess it's not the official rollout yet. I may still try it, IF I can find one of my cards that it supports!
Got it, got excited ... but none of my cards will register, same cards registered on my phone won't go through for the watch.
Lame
I had to call my bank twice to verify. Did it once and an hour later I reset the watch app and tried again. Went through in seconds that time. Haven't tried it out yet.
Just saw the update popped up on my Gear S2 today. Installed the app and registered a card. :good:

It is for android wear watches so doesn't do much for gear, it only enables replying to the messages even if you are not using samsung's message app. You can just use SMSGear instead of doing this actually. https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/themes/opensource-sms-application-gear-s3-t3557263

I will probably skip the Samsung watch and grab a wear watch instead like the Lg Style. After some reading Samsung watches are great if you have a Samsung phone, but if you do not then it's hit or miss with most apps and some don't work at all. And of course the apps I use are the ones that apparently don't work at all with Samsung. Shame really because I think the Samsung watch looks almost like the $1000 Tag Heuer smart watch. If they would have only used wear software instead of there own.

(I'm not sure where you're at but) Check Best Buy. The Samsung Rep told me you can return the S3 within a 15-day period after buying. I asked the rep at a Best Buy (at a location with a Samsung gallery -- not all locations have) to take the S3 out of Store Demo Mode so I can pair it with my old Galaxy Note 2 but he said he can't. He mentioned I can buy and return it within 15 days if I'm not happy with it. If you're going to do this, see if you can involve a manager. Sometimes reps just say whatever they want to make a sale. But who knows. He could be telling the truth.

Best buy's return policy is 15 days unless otherwise stated. The only reason I know that is they will price match anything you buy within the return period as well. I had bought a TV and on the 15th day it dropped by about $500. Called them up and they refunded that amount. The info on price matching and return policy can be found easily on their website.
So I checked out the S3 at T-Mobile store. Never mind its way to big and heavy. Also it didn't work with half the stuff I wanted to do on my Pixel. I think this watch is great if you have a Samsung phone, but if it's a non Samsung phone then expect half the stuff not to work right. I think I will pick up the new LG Sport watch instead...

If you're concerned about sizes, I think the LG Sport Watch is bigger but along with its size, you get more screen and a higher resolution. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room to improve on battery life for the LG even for its bigger size. I'm on the morning of Day 3 and I still have 62% battery power (granted I turn it off after 9pm and turn it back on at 6am). Lots of trade-offs. But I agree. You get a better experience with the Gear S3 if you have a Galaxy phone. Have you seen this article? http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-watch-sport-vs-samsung-gear-s3
EDIT: One of the best things I love about the S3 is Samsung Pay (way better than Android Pay). Never again do I pull my wallet out (except when I occasionally buy wine -- I still get carded LOL!)

That hasn't been my experience at all. I have a Moto G4 and my wife has a Huawei phone and the S3 works very well with either. I've paired it separately with both plus an older Moto E I and everything works without a hitch. I know there have been some hitches with the IPhone but I wouldn't touch one of those if my life depended on it so I can't comment there.
There isn't a huge difference in the S3 user experience with a Samsung phone versus other branded Android phones. Regardless, if integration with the Google ecosystem is paramount, an AW watch will fulfill those duties better than the S3. But the LG Sport has a few serious shortcomings compared to the S3: inferior battery life, fixed wristband (a comfort and customization issue), and lack of MST. The LG Sport is the best AW 2.0 watch on the market only because it's the only one on the market right now. I too am waiting, I just chose to do it while using the S3 in the interim.

Galaxy watch

Can I ask why no one is discussing the new watches?
I have searched and cannot find a thread for this or a dedicated new forum page.
I am probably just being dumb but if there is such a thread could someone kindly direct me to it.

Why?
Is bixby and 100 mah battery worth 350 euro? And the removal of MST?
I accept the upgrade is not massive but I was always torn between the S3 Classic or Frontier and I believe that this is a perfect blend of the two. So essentially it it just aesthetics for me.
I got the Frontier second hand for £180 and Samsung are giving me £100 trade in so I think overall it is a reasonable price to pay.
Also the mst is totally irrelevant to me as I never use my watch for payment, always happy to just use my phone.
I am interested on those who are receiving theirs today in the USA. Please let us have your reviews.

For me the fact that I can go swimming with it now is worth the upgrade. I didn't use MST on my Gear S3 anyways. I ordered from BestBuy and I got an email I can pick it up today. So will grab it on my way home from work.

Can you test whatsapp? Change something or is still like s3? You can use bixby for send new WhatsApp message ?
Well so far I'm not impressed. Its been a little over 24 hours of light use and my battery is at 75%. The galaxy app says 2 days 12 hrs left, so that would put the battery life somewhere around 3 and 1/2 days about 1 1/2 days shorter then they claim (5 days). The Bixby app is horrible, if I ask the weather or a question it takes a very long time to respond compared to the S-Voice of S3, at one point it even froze. The daily briefing feature is kinda cool but I assume the S3 will get this in an update. Anyways as it stands now not sure it was worth the upgrade.

I upgraded from the LTE Gear S2. This was a huge upgrade for me in my opinion. I didn't use Samsung Pay on the S2 because it didn't have MST so I'm not really missing anything. I love the battery life of this watch. My old S2 barely made it through a work day. The one thing I miss from the S2 is the Timer app. I used it when cooking. There is no app like it on the Galaxy Watch.
I also would like to see the SmartThings integration with the watch. The Samsung ad shows this, but no app on the watch. I have lots of lights and other items that would be nice to control on the watch. I hope that this will be a new app that gets pushed out with an upgrade.
Overall, I love the new Galaxy Watch.

Yep I'm in the US. The Timer App and the Stop watch app have to be manually downloaded like the S3. Why those 2 aren't on by default is beyond me.

Why?
Is bixby and 100 mah battery worth 350 euro? And the removal of MST?

^this.
I waited to see the new Galaxy Watch with all the rumors about it but once it was announced with a bigger battery at the expense of MST i just bought the S3 Frontier 2 days later for $179 new from Best Buy (had them price match). I was looking at the S3 Frontier for 3 reasons, battery life, MST, and bezel/look. I'm getting 3-4 days on a charge so don't need more battery at the expense of MST and to get this look it's in a smaller form factor so this made no sense to spend $350 over the $179 price
I mean, just look at this video, everything is the same, the gear wearable app looks the same, RAM is the same, the speed/performance is the same. TLDR: If you are a pro swimmer then get the galaxy watch, thats it.

I finally found the app. Not sure why it was showing up when I was searching for the app Timer

fyi, got a firmware update this morning. R800XXU1BRH3 - Improved Samsung Health Experience, Improved device stability.
Now the watch has been released surely there should be a dedicated page for this on XDA? Have I missed it somehow?
Is interest in this watch so small?
Can't wait for the release in the UK.
