But at the moment we do not have the necessary things in place to dual boot.
I want to bump this thread.
I would like to know if anyone is working on a dualboot spcifically for windows 7.
Rumors as they are are pointing that Windows 8 will be tablet friendly or atleast touch screen friendly. I would like to see something like this come out for the Xoom if for nothing more than proof of concept for now.
You want Win7 on ARM? huh?

No not really. Ubuntu is the easiest of all the linux distros to get running, best tip I could give you is google everything, get on IRC and RTFM (read the ****ing manual).
Personally I prefer Fedora 14 running in a Virtualbox VM on Windows 7 x64.

Why are you using Windows 8? It's a developer preview. Use Windows 7 x64 SP1 if you want to use a stable version of Windows.

Ok thx for the answer. Mh unfortunately I must wait >.<
It would be awesome, but seems like it would be too much of a hassle with our cpu's being different than that of a normal pc.

It's already installed. Android is based on it.
OK, I know, you mean a traditional "desktop" Linux distribution like Ubuntu.

The CPU is not the problem - Linux and many applications have been ported to many different architectures for 20 years. The device drivers are the biggest issue because they are closed source. And maybe some problems related to partitioning and the bootloader.
I mean the desktop linux. Asus must offer the drive and coded.

Pretty much.
From what I gather there already is a working Ubuntu port for the TF300 but since the hardware is different, a TF700 port may still take a while.
People seem confident of it being possible though... Can't wait!

There is an Android x86 version, the one you linked is Android ARM.

You'd have to compile it yourself if you want a later one. I'd imagine even if older the x86 version would work better than the emulated ARM version.
EDIT: I also meant to say I do not have a newer copy.
Someone linked one back in the dev section, I'll repost it here.

What the difference between this image file and the Windows RT image file that Windows RT user create with recovery image backup? I think it the same.
Yes, it was always possible to install RT on any ARM tablet with a modern CPU and enough RAM. You'll only need to write UEFI and needed drivers yourself, that's all.
But as there is only one person in the world who've managed to write UEFI from zero for an unsupported device (Cotulla for HD2) - don't expect that RT would ever appear for your device.

Yes if he makes the UEFI opensource the whole community could help developing it.

Not really, UEFI is specific to each individual device chipset so his HD2 UEFI wont work on anything but an HD2.
Maybe it can be made to work on the NVIDIA Tegra NOTE 7 reference design since it is Tegra 4. NVIDIA tends to make unlocking the bootloader very easy, like with SHIELD.
So no hopes of this working on Samsung ARM Chromebook?

RT officially doesnt support the enoxys chipset at all. Snapdragon and tegra only, was meant to support OMAP at one point but TI pulled out.
