Eonon GA5151 beeps but no display? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hey there.
A while back I set the power off on this unit (flashed with a Malaysk ROM) to go off after 5 min. It seemed to make things buggy and often had to be reset after I restarted the car.
One day, it just didn't come back on. No lights on the buttons. Holding down power and reset doesn't seem to do anything.
When the ACC is powered on, I hear two beeps coming from the CANBUS.
Anyone else encounter this? Better yet, does anyone know of a solution? Not sure I can accept that it's burned our or bricke yet. .

Mine is currently screwed.... I bought an Eonon GA6164F MTCD_KLD and the steering wheel controls were buggy and a mess.
Their support gave me a link to an update.img file, and it wouldnt work through the normal Settings \ About \ Software Update (couldnt find file) I renamed to dupdate.img and it found it and wanted to install.... rebooted, did its thing.... then black screen...
I cant get it to do anything now..... ive even removed battery, tried all the resetting combo's with the reset + power , let go of reset, let go of power... cant get anything on the screen..... worst still, ive only had this thing for 3 days... WTF... I tried using the recover from brick with a bootable SD card in the GPS slot, but cant get anything on the screen at all.... perhaps its a bad update.img file, but surely i would see somthing on the screen....

And from today I have the same issue.
Ga6161f. Support advise me to rename update.img to dupdate.img.
Now I have just a black screen, no any sign that is powered, and light just came when/while I press reset button.
I escalate it to vendor and probably it will be returned to them.
Does anyone have some advice how to correct it?
Is it dead, HW damaged or just black screen?
Thanks to all ...

I did get a tiny bit further last night, i loaded up the latest Malaysk 11.4 firmware onto an SD card and made it bootable using SD_Firmware_Tool.exe.
Unplugging the rear plug of the stereo (to make sure its powered down)
Put the SD card in the GPS slot
Plug the rear plug/cables back in
Turn ACC on
It at least showed somthing on the screen then
I noticed it was Restore 5.2 where before i was Restore/Recovery 5.1.1
It failed to install the firmware
I tried using the menus and tried all other methods of getting either the Malaysk or the Feb 2017 Eonon provided firmware through the usb or normal SD slot, but it would only error and then a Reboot would still leave it doing nothing.

I managed to fix my device.
Long story, but ive started writing up a document.
If I can get to 10 posts, I can start a new topic and include spefics. including pictures. but for now.
This is my rough text.
It might be able to help you too.
BTW. once I had the Malaysk version working, I attempted to re-install the update Eonon had given me and it bricked the device again.
So its def. something bad / funny with that file they supplied.

That's great news.
You can change the boot logo in the settings- factory settings - logo. Don't fiddle with other settings in there unless you have pictures of what they are when it's all fine. I'm glad I could share the knowledge and you got yours working too. It's not documented very well , I spent 24 hours digging through forums to finally get that procedure ... oh well

You did a GREAT JOB !
Now there is a manual.

Thanks

I have an Eonon GA5155F. At the moment, my unit will not load past the car manufacturer's logo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi I have a Eonon I think it is a GA6201F it was installed in the care before I got the BMW so I don't really know Its not that old ,My problem is It was working when I fires got the car then it stopped I contacted Eonon.com and they sent me an upgrade I had the unit pulled out at the time of upgrade then after I installed it back in it wouldn't work I checked the power supply that's ok I checked fusses they are ok then I tried to reset it no beeps and no lights black screen holding the reset button in as well as the power still no beeps and then when I let the reset button out the lights are on but they are red and then when I let the power button go they go out then if I push the reset button and then release it the red tight comes on for one second and then it goes out ,can it be fixed the person I got the car off payed nearly $500 for it I cant afford to get another one I will need to get a cheep cd player that may not fit properly or leave a big hole in my dash or do I walk across the road to the water and see how long it takes to sink after I throw it and let the fish fix it because they might have more luck than I have

Haven't been around for a while and thought I'd try to fix the Eonon GA5151 I have. Did a Google search and ended up back on my own post.
I tried to follow your instructions but did not have any luck.
The screen does not turn on. Here's what I did:
1. Used Rockchip program to create update SD card using update.img provided in the RK3066 Malaysk ROM (can't check SD boot anyway as the program crashes if I do).2
2. Disconnected plug at back of Eonon unit; inserted SD card.
3. Re-inserted plug and waited
4. Nothing ...
I still get the two beeps coming from the CANBUS but I'm not seeing anything on the screen. Now I'm beginning to wonder if I should check my remote wire or something else. It just makes no sense to me how or why this is going on.
Any ideas?

touchscreen issue after repair

i replaced my ear speaker by myself, after that i have problems with touchscreen, in upper part of scrren it lacks responsivnes, if i touch on that part it registers like i touched that part and the part 2 inches lower, and acts crazy all the time...i have had problems with unresponsivnes, sense circle etc. but this is something new, tried flashing recalibration but doesn't work, same...maybe something went wrong while changing ear speaker? disassembled it again, checked the digitizer flat ribbon, everything sits perfectly, maybe i damaged it during replacement
however, tried reading digitizer type (model), it seems it's non of those mentioned in thread about digitizer models...should have writen it down, probably will have to change digitizer

tried that, it helps with the unresponsivness problem (circle and all that) but not in this case, guess it's a faulty digitizer, will be replacing him in a week...but i ran into a thread about different digitizer models, checked the model on mine, it's non of those, it has some other pyd mark...
Touchscreen issue fixed
The only working solution i find that works perfectly for touchscreen problems
I have tried every single solution for touchscreen issues on this site. I have found one that is basically guaranteed to work here it is:
INSTRUCTIONS: (YOUR PHONE WILL NEED TO BE ALREADY S-OFF AND UNLOCKED FOR THIS TO WORK WHICH YOU CAN DO THEN RETURN TO THIS TUTORIAL)
YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD THEESE 2 FILES
Recalibration tool - http://www.mediafire.com/?akul70qy128lo3u
Revolutionary hboot - http://www.mediafire.com/?1ed2y87pld66638
1. Take the NBH file from the provided link, and place it on root of your SD Card.
2. Boot into bootloader, by turning off your phone and then while its off hold the volume down button and then hold down the power button until the bootloader comes on then release bot of the buttons.
3. Once you’ve booted into the bootloader wait a second and you will notice that it searches for and finds the nbh file that you put on your sd card, It will then proceed to flash it. Some instructions will appear on the screen very quickly for about 2 seconds asking you to hold the phone horizontally while it calibrates it. Do this quickly and follow the rest of the instructions.
4. You will now see a screen appear giving you 2 options. Run the first option by selecting using the volume button if its not already selected and press power to run the process then run the second one once it is complete. Then simply remove the battery from your phone to turn it off.
5. Once again using the button combination, boot into the bootloader and select recovery. Once recovery boots into clockwork mod, do a factory reset and wipe data as well as the dalvik cache. Then reboot your phone.
Your touchscreen should now be calibrated and working perfectly.
Do not forget to delete the nbh file from your sd card once you’re done so it does not auto flash next time you go into your bootloader.
IMPORTANT!!!!!
If the process of flashing the nbh file does not work and gives you an error like this
“Security fail! Update fail! Press <POWER> to reboot.”
This is because the firmware is not the right one needed to flash the file and this can be corrected by flashing the Revolutionary hboot v 1.27.0000 following these instructions:
1. First make sure that you deleted the nbh file from the sd card root.
2. Place the file named “PG58IMG.zip” at the root of your sd card.
3. Power off your phone and use the button combination to boot into the bootloader.
4. The file will be detected and automatically start to flash, follow any onscreen instructions if necessary until this process completes.
5. Once this completes your phone should boot so that you can delete the zip file from your sd. If the phone is taking too long to boot you will need to remove the battery then the sd card. VERY IMPORTANT “With the sd card out of the phone” you will need to boot into the bootloader once more and enter recovery and factory reset the phone as well as wipe the data and dalvic cache.
6. Now the phone should be powered down and the turned back on. After the phone is finished booting up you should then replace the sd card and use whatever file explorer you have to delete the zip file from the root of the folder so that it does not autoboot the next time you enter the bootloader.(or you can do this whole step by deleting the zip file using a card reader and your computer)
7. You have now successfully flashed the correct firmware/hboot which is the revolutionary hboot required for the recalibration tool to work. Now you can try to reflash the calibration tool following the instructions at the very top of this tutorial again with the nbh file and it should work since I had to go through all this for mine to work and now my phone touchscreen work like a charm and is in perfect working order.
8. Thanks. I do not take credit for this fix, I have simply made a detailed explanation of how to get it to work as intended by this user on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2437293

[Q] A510 bricked after bootloop and unlucky reset operation. need advise.

Dear Developers forum!
After having a bootloop (on stock rom after a simple on/off operation) I tried to hard reset my tablet. I forgot to put the sd card back in and switched randomly with the pwr, vol and screenrotation lock button (stupid, as I know now...). since then it is dead. only the battery led reacts to the power supply.
I already opened it to unplug the battery with no result.
as I dont have the connection cable to the PC at hand I didnt connect the tablet to the computer yet.
will this be a chance to get it back to life?
thx for reading and if you have any advice!
best regards
peter
Add the full firmware as update.zip on your SD card and you can flash back the OS via keycombination.
Search for my username in this forum, I've descriptor the procedure somewhere for the A510, because I was in nearly same situation
Edit on (found the thread, but was on my 2nd username (of a mistake I've 2 here )
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046832
hi and thx for your reply!
I was waiting for the usb connection cable to be delivered and to check if I could access the intern sd card to save some of my data. I could not manage to get the apx driver of my win7 to work and therefor quit the data saving idea.
then I wanted to awake the tablet.
I downloaded the original acer rom update zip package put the update.zip on an empty micro sd and put the micro sd in the tablet.
the official manual from acer says:
OS SD Upgrade Steps
1. Download A510 OS image file (update.zip).
2. Copy “update.zip” file to an empty micro SD card.
3. Long press Power key then select “OK” to turn off the tablet.
4. Insert the micro SD card into A510.
5. Press and hold “Volume Up key” which near Power key then
press “Power” key to turn on the tablet.
6. Once “Power” key white LED lights, release “Power” key but
still hold “Volume Up” key.
7. Release “Volume Up” key until below message shows on
screen.
I am facing following problems with that:
1th I cannot do step3 as the tablet doesnt react on any key and as the screen stays black
2nd no white led does light on while doing steps 5&6
I have no clue how to go on.
does anybody know what could help?
shall I unplug the battery again to be sure it is off and then to follow the instructions again?
please gimme hints if you can.
Thanks
Peter
update: in the end it is dead. motherboard to be replaced
I sent my a510 to the service center. they wrote the motherboard must be replaced- on my costs.

[Completed] Need to Install Custom Recovery through ADB

If a mod could be so kind as to move this to the correct area if this location is incorrect I appreciate it.
Recently I've been given a pretty crappy tablet, but nevertheless I want to get it in working conditon. I love the challenge and I love the opportunity of being able to learn something new.
The specs of this Tablet device are as follows: http://www.sears.com/ideausa-idea7-7inch-tablet-w-dual-core/p-SPM8151247717
Maker: IDEA USA
Model: CT720
SDK: MID-A20-Android4.2-v2.0
Android system recovery <3e>
The owner of this tablet says they went to turn it on one day and it said no operating system found. other than that I have no information other than what is listed previously.
So when turned on I get the green android logo looking like its an android guy putting his arms up. it stays stuck there. I've never once gotten a screen saying no operating system found.
when I turn it on with power + volume up I get recovery mode
power +volume down as well as power + volume up + volume down do not do anything except boot the green guy back up.
I figure through recovery I can maybe get cyanogen onto this device and figure things out along the way somehow.
I boot into recovery mode and of course the volume buttons do nothing even though the screen states to use the volume buttons to navigate. I use adb to reboot to bootloader, where it goes to the green guy again. I check the device status and it says it's status is device.
I use adb to reboot to recovery and it's back at the same screen where the volume keys do nothing. I find some adb commands to push button presses across, no luck as it says
'/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
So far I'm thinking my only chance in hell is gonna be if I can force push a different recovery over this one which I'll actually be able to use, followed by trial and error with different roms.
any recovery images I get are ISO files, and I can only adb push .apk files. I'm definitely missing something here as I don't have too much knowledge at this level of android devices.
any help I can get I greatly appreciate it.
---------------------
edit .
when the green guy comes up, im able to adb shell in. I don't know if this helps any, I'm going to continue researching a bit and see if there's anything I can figure out
now that I'm able to shell in I'm able to tell that there is still an operating system. and all files seem to be fine and intact. not sure what's causing this
So I had figured I would make an attempt at messaging the maker IDEA USA and seeing if they could provide me with with a rom.
luckily I received an email providing me with an official .zip which I have hosted here: https://mega.nz/#!mwcmGaiB
The rest of the email stated as follows;
"The Software needed is called PhoenixSuit V1.10 (i used 1.0.6)
You will need a PC with Windows 7 or above
Micro USB to USB Cable (Supplied with your device)
Open the software
Click on the Anchor with Firmware underneath it (See Photo attached)
Click on the Blue Image button, Navigate to where you have the Firmware Image on your device.
With the tablet off Connect the device to the PC.
Press and hold the Volume up (+) key and hold it
Press the power but approx 6 times quickly and you should see the device start to load the firmware.
It should show device connected in the lower left corner of the software. "
I ended up just having to turn it on normally and it auto detected after following the previous instructions. Flashed the firmware and worked like new. Hope this helps anyone else out there with any troubles!
I still would like to put a recovery on to this device, twrp and cyanogen cannot find a compatible recovery. Any direction on where I could go from here?
Hello,
If your device has no custom recoveries available then you can try getting someone to build one for you or you can go to XDA University and find instructions for porting a recovery from another device or you can find how to build a recovery from source, there are many links and some menus that have other links at XDA University, check them all until you find what you are looking for.

Consider creating a thread with detailed instructions for how you corrected your issue, you can put it in the Android Development and Hacking forum. It would help a lot of others with your device if they have the same issue. The thread doesn't have to be fancy, just list the steps and links to the files needed(including firmware link, flash tool link and anything else that is required). It shouldn't take a lot of trouble to put the thread together. The community would appreciate it.

[Guide][UnBrick] How to unbrick the Acer Liquid Z500

Hello, y'all,
... First of all, please read this whole post carefully, before starting to work on your phone! Thanks! ...
recently, I wanted to update the Android version of my old Z500 with the help of lineageOS and TWRP.
Please note, that I'm not at all an expert on this topic, and if I'm using specific terms like "bricked" or "APX mode" wrong, please forgive me.
So, on my device, I had the plan of installing Android 6.0 on this phone using TWRP and a copy of lineageOS.
However, the recovery partition turned out locked and I accidentally overwrote the boot partition with the twrp.img.
This is my first time doing this, ok, and I read on a oneplus forum, that the boot partition could also be used, blah, blah, blah, silly me.
Anyways, now my device wouldn't turn on. After a while charging, the display turned on, but there was always just the low battery screen. When I got to the "Boot Selector" holding the power and vol + button, selecting fastboot, recovery or normal boot just restarted the device.
Anyways, now what do you need to "unbrick" the device :
- A version of TWRP [dl.twrp.me/Z500/twrp-3.3.1-0-Z500.img.html]
- A version of your desired ROM, for me lineageOS [androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195903470]
- SmartPhone Flash Tool, for me v5.1912 worked like a charm [spflashtool.com/download/SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1912_Win.zip]
- A copy of the Firmware Acer_AV0K0_Z500_1.012.00_EMEA_GEN1 (... GEN1s for single SIM) [dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/cin08ytkqmvr7c1/Acer_AV0K0_Z500_1.012.00_EMEA_GEN1.zip] (this was the hardest one to get because all the other downloads just included the .ispff dump file)
- A copy of the corresponding version of OpenGApps [opengapps.com]
- A copy of the MediaTek Driver Auto Installer (v5.1632.00; you know you have the right one when it resets the USB Ports in a CMD window at the end; INSTALL THIS FIRST) [mediafire.com/file/4ux1ytmzlxmpbjb/ROMProvider.COM_Driver_Auto_Installer_EXE_v5.1632.00.zip/file]
- A USB Charging Cable
- A PC
- Your Phone, obviously
Set up your PC :
1. Start by installing the MediaTek Driver Auto Installer. After that is finished, restart your PC.
2. Unzip the Firmware and the SmartPhone Flash Tool
3. Copy your ROM and OpenGApps on an SD Card.
Before you begin this operation, make sure you "get your device into APX mode".
Basically, it makes your device recognizable and flashable by the computer.
WARNING: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
To do that follow these steps one after another :
- Plug your device into your wall power, NOT YOUR PC, and let it charge for about 30min, just in case. Turn it off if it's still on, although in my case, it turned off once I removed the charging cable.
- Remove the backplate of your device, unscrew the internal backplates 6 screws and carefully take the internal backplate off. If you're having trouble, just look for "Acer Z500 teardown" on YouTube.
- Carefully pull off the battery connector from the mainboard from up under. Be careful not to damage it!
- Once done, connect your device to your computer. You should now see the device as COM Connector in the Device Manager. If your device is disconnecting and connecting repeatedly, the driver must not be active. If you see no device connecting at all, remove it from your computer and after plugging it into the wall charger again, reconnect it to your PC.
- Once that's ok, disconnect the device again, and plug the battery back in.
- While disconnected, open up the SP Flash Tool, and under "Download", select the scatter .... .txt file from the Firmware Archive.
- Once that's done, all of the checkboxes in the ROM select should be active.
- Double Click on the Path of the "RECOVERY" row and select the TWRP.img. Then, change the mode from "Download only" to "Format All + Download" and hit the "Download" button.
- Plug your Z500 back in again, and you should see the flashing process starting.
- Once that's done, disconnect the phone and put the SD card with your ROM and OpenGApps in.
- Connect your phone to the wall charger again, and immediately hold the power and the vol + buttons down, till the Boot Options appear.
- Boot into recovery mode, and TWRP should start up. If it doesn't, reconnect your phone again and just let it boot for around 3min after terminating it by holding the power button and as soon as the screen goes black, also holding the vol + button. Once again select recovery mode, and now TWRP should defiantly show up.
- In TWRP, first, make a factory reset with the "WIPE" option. Then go to install and choose your SD card. First, install your ROM, then OpenGApps and reboot.
Now you should have a functioning Acer Z500 again!
Feel free to reply, if you have any questions!
Good luck,
Klydra.

JXD S7800b boots but can't get past boot animation

Dragged my JXD S7800b out of drawer, stuck it on charger and charged up okay.
However, boots up but does not get past boot animation?! So I am looking into how to recover the device please?
Used RockChip Driver Assistant v5.1.1 to setup my windows 10 machine.
RockChip Batch tool v1.8 connects when device powered up but shows pink but not green indication (with no useful error reports), so I don't appear to be able to jam firmware on that route.
Not having much fun with RockChip Factory Tool v5.3 since most images I am downloading fail to load into that, other than what appears to be the official firmware from JXD. That tool otherwise appears only for editing images but not uploading.
I bumbled onto the recovery menu. What wasn't well documented on the steps to get there, so ended up with:
1) power up while holding down power and + volume.
2) display shows an android on it's side, guts opened with a ! and the text message "No command"
3) insert USB
4) the missing bit, hit - volume to scroll into menu
So I found an adb option but haven't installed any android tools as yet on my new machine.
I burnt an SD card with etcher, to use the update from external storage option, but I am guessing the etcher wants to build a boot disk and a boot disk is not wanted? Etcher reports the image will not be bootable in any event.
Reformated SD and copied image onto it in the end but neither apply update or update rkimage "found" anything on the SD card or found the image to be invalid (despite it coming from JXD site).
So, any links to how to set up the SD card for updating the firmware would be appreciated.
I guess also I would like to know the difference between an "apply update from external storage" and "update rkimage from external storage" is what please?
Also, any links to JXD_S7800B_RileyROM_1.2.1.zip seem dead, so has anyone a live link to JXD_S7800B_RileyROM_1.2.1.zip please?
Also wik, with the usb cable in and holding down power and + volume, a few seconds in and windows reports usb device unrecognised. I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed the drivers to now avail. Not sure this is a problem? The fact I can occasionally, rarely, not often enough but just enough to irritate, get a pink but not green light up on the Patch Tool hints the software can almost, but not quiet, enough to make my teeth grind, "see" the device LOL.
Cannot get adb driver going on Windows 10 despite the driver helper having supposedly Windows 10 drivers? Whether that relates to the unrecognised device is unknown but it looks like the Drive Assistant installs usb but not adb drivers, which seem to need a manual install.
UPDATE
=======
Still looking for the information above BUT managed to recover the device by doing a factory reset.
