[Q] Smart Lock? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

I have upgrade to the Nougat Beta and am trying to find Google's Smart Lock options. I see Huawei's for bluetooth only, and I can enable Google's Smart Lock in Trust Agents. However, the configuration settings are nowhere to be found. Am I missing it? Can it be loaded via an intent by adb if not available conventionally?

[Q] Google security policy question

I have a question regarding some hardware components in Android. As we know, switching them on and off through some software API
was disabled by Google, due to security reasons. For example, GPS (on device without root acceess) can only be enabled or disabled
by exact option in menu, but not by third party software. Same for 2g/3g network access, and sometimes even for display brightness...
So, my question is why it can't be done easy way by simply removing that security code from sources? Android is open source operating
system, sources are published by Google, aren't they? So, why these workarounds like RIL code injection (2g/3g), or some root access
helpers (Secure Settings from GP)? It is really so hard to handle such a hardware like GPS or radio mode?
I'm using Cyanogenmod 10 on Samsung Galaxy S, which is theoretically "impossible" to run Jelly Bean (as Samsung decided).
But even in this advanced mod, the hardware switches aren't working well. So, I'm not asking for CM10 itself, but about whole
conception. This is stupid for me, that's hindering people using Android smartphones...

[Q] How to enable on-body detetion?

On my Nexus 5 I really enjoyed the updates Google did to the Play Services that enabled on-body detection for the Smart Lock feature. With my new S6 however, I do not have that option under Smart Lock, just Trusted Devices and Trusted Places. And yes, I do have the latest GPS 7.0.99. Anyone know how to get this option back?
I can't seem to get it either. However, it took a really long time on my moto x so Im not worried.

How to disable Android remote administration in CM13?

Just noticed, that ~20% of my battery charge goes to Google Play Services. It looks like remote administration is enabled by default and I can't find settings under "Security" to disable it: I can call to phone from google site, to find it, and I can track the location of the phone, even this is not I specially configured, nor I wish to enable such backdoor and pay my money for electricity to make that works.
So how can I switch this off? I remember in CM12 there were two seperate options: to disable CM remote admin and to disable Google remote admin. Now I can only find one "Remote Adnroid administration", which is NOT enabled in my case.
Even if I enable and then disable it again, I still can do "ring the phone" from PC, remotely.

Is smart lock with Bluetooth working?

On most android phones you can disable locking when specified devices are attached via Bluetooth.
I have multiple bt devices connected and functioning ok. However, when I go into the settings and select the smart lock category / button / option the entire settings app crashes back to launcher.
Had anyone wise succeeded with this feature?

It's working for me. I have smart lock enabled when connected to my car...
Did you de-bloat anything through adb as shown in other posts? Maybe it kills something off that is required?

No, I have done nothing to my phone. Its how it came from Hong Kong.
I just went to settings/security and privacy/screen lock & passwords/smart unlock.
Once I put my PIN in I just selected the Bluetooth device (my car) to use with smart unlock.
Be aware that you have to be connected to said Bluetooth device before you can select it for smart unlock....
I don't even get the list, just goes back to desktop. Time for another reset I guess

Bluetooth Smart Unlock using Garmin smart watch

Hi all,
i just got my Mi Mix 2S, great phone so far. What I miss is the possibillity to keep it unlocked when I am wearing my Garmin smart watch. With my previous phones, I could use the Smart Unlock feature, the phone would not be locked if my watch was in the vicinity. Now the Mi Mix Settings 'Unlock with bluetooth device' finds the Garmin watch (somtimes), but I cannot pair the devices. The phone prompts me to push a button on the device. With my previous phones, I did not have to push a button to set the watch as a smart unlock device.
My understanding it is a Miui restrictrion. Is this really true? Would installing a different rom support smart unlock?
Or are there workarounds (Apps, etc.) to enable Smart unlock, maybe even for trusted wifi networks?
Thanks in advance
Steffen
Global stable offered me the option to add my watch as a smartlock device but I have to disable google from the trust agents so my watch doesnt lose internet connection after a while(sounds strange, I know but it is like it is..). Actually keeping it unlocked became pretty useless with fingerprint and faceunlock(in my opinion). Maybe you get used to it too I'm pretty sure you can disable the lockscreen while connected to a specific wifi with tasker... I mean you can do anything with tasker
My Xiaomi smart watch unlocked my phone. Actually annoying, as i started dialing people from my pocket more easily.
Given fingerprint and face recognition, it's kind of pointless.
I'm on miui 10 - 8.9.20
Hi, thanks for your replies.? Face unlock works pretty well, even for my face. Will use that from now on. As described elsewhere, I had to change the region to India to make it work. Changing the region back to Germany disabled face unlock. Hope this will be fixed in future versions.
Cheers
Certain features need India as a regional setting. Its because Xiaomi want to avoid patent trolls and law suits but also want to sell their devices worldwide

Hi all, just an update how to fix the issue. I do get the notification on my smartwatch. I changed the Battery saving settings to "No restrictions" for the Garmin Connect App. It seems that this prevents the loss of connection between the smartwatch and the phone. The default setting was Energy Saving Mode. I found this tip in a German Android forum.
If your smart watch also uses an app to syncronize the data, you might want to try this tip. The menu path is Settings -> Battery and Performance -> Select app -> then choose the respective app.
The smart unlock feature only works with Xiaomi devices. Very annoying
